sometimes while going through my fandom stuff i'll find privated/ghost interactions with it, and on the one hand i know there's any number of reasons someone might want some privacy and i respect that 100%. and it's also weirdly flattering! and i'm glad people are able to enjoy my stuff in whatever kind of peace it is they're maintaining. especially if it's something without a lot of other content out there.
on the other hand i am always so so curious. who are you stranger what was it you liked about my thing. who are the other enjoyers out there

It's really interesting the Imogen confessing to being disgusted by the idea that Delilah is just THERE, all the time, looking in on everything because she's so linked to Laudna, happened in the same episode (and on the same day in universe) as Imogen removing the circlet because she think if she's listening in to all of the other PC's thoughts at all times she can catch when they're having "bad thoughts" and stop them before they act on them
Like she's very rightly feeling violated by the idea of Delilah being around when she's with Laudna and listening to every conversation and intimate moment, but it's also like, Imogen, darling, you are SO CLOSE to a breakthrough about how your mind reading and how you indulge in it makes other people feel but you're not QUITE there yet

One of the things I keep thinking about with regards to JJBA is that both Jotaro and Josuke are technically ハーフ but they’re not coded as mixed race.  Like, obviously both of them have a parent who is white, but they don’t really get any of the usual visual signifiers of being mixed race (aside from maybe Jotaro’s eyes, but like...eye color in the show is already completely off the wall so I don’t think that’s a convincing argument) and they don’t get any of the linguistic signifiers (see: any show with a half-European kid who speaks Japanese peppered with their other parent’s native language).  Arguably, both of them look more stereotypically “Japanese” than other (non-mixed) members of the cast.  That’s really unusual, as far as depictions of mixed race folks in anime go.
In the alternate universe where I study Japanese media instead of religion and don’t get skittish about writing about being mixed race academically, I’d definitely write a paper on depictions of mixed race folks in media and look at JJBA as well as Sakuya in Hatoful Boyfriend.  >.>

=====
"What's all this?" Shin-Il pushed his glasses up his nose and looked at their small kitchen table with a bit of confused worry. Ji-Na covered half of it in what would probably be dinner while the other half had every tablet, laptop, and phone she'd purchased in the last three years.
She had put more clothes on than normal after showering and blow drying her hair. He'd insisted when she came home drenched and shivering. He counted fifteen barrettes holding her hair down before she looked up at him from the stove.
"We need more side dishes for your lunches."
"Aren't you tired from running around today? You should relax. I'll make dinner."
"You suck at cooking. Go back to studying. I'll quiz you!" She grinned and turned down the stove before shuffling cutely over to him and wrapping her arms around his waist. "Bring your books in here and I'll help. Then we'll eat and you can go to bed early because you have important tests tomorrow but think I haven't been paying attention to your schedule."
Shin-Il blinked and gently ran his hands over her hair. These were entrance exams into medical school. He knew Grandfather had a plan for him, especially now that he and Ji-Na had accepted his help in finding a surrogate for their family. He was probably more anxious than he needed to be but he didn't feel particularly good at this material.
"I don't think I'll be able to sleep."
"I will help! I'm going with you tomorrow. I will sit outside and wait."
"That sounds boring. What if it rains again?" Ji-Na rolled her eyes like he was bringing up moot points. "Don't you have work?"
"Not tomorrow. It is an important test. I'm going to support you all day." She laid her cheek against his chest and rubbed her hands up and down his back. "Even if you can't see me, you'll know I'm cheering you on. You're going to do so well, Shin-Il. I can feel it."
"I want to." He tilted her chin up so he could bend and kiss her. Ji-Na rose up on her toes and kissed him a bit desperately. Shin-Il held onto her tightly before he easily lifted her up. She joked about being a bird all the time but he worried at how light she was.
What was it that Mother said about her metabolism? Dangerously high?
Shin-Il set her down and cupped her face. "When was the last time you ate? Really ate."
She scrunched up her face and looked mildly thoughtful. "A few days ago? I've been snacking! I promise!"
It wasn't enough. Not if she was running around trying to save everyone. He kissed her forehead and pulled her back into the kitchen. Dinner looked close to ready but he checked to make sure there was enough rice for the both of them. Then he checked the fridge, all while holding her hand, and frowned.
"I haven't had time to go shopping. I'll go..."
"We'll go together after my exams are finished tomorrow."
She shook her head. "No. You will need to eat and sleep. You will be exhausted. I have enough to feed you."
"Ji-Na, you have to eat." She wrinkled her nose and started to look away. He lowered his voice because that was sometimes the only way he could get her to listen to him seriously. He'd pulled back ever since the incident with Hye-In. He preferred to...give her what she wanted in the bedroom and not push outside of it. "You have to take care of yourself."
"Shin-Il..." It was a quiet, desperate whine. She tugged on the ends of her hair and he had to grab her hands to stop her before she started pulling it out. He never really understood why she liked it but she always calmed down or relaxed when he tightened his grip. He didn't understand why feeling her...trust him...made it easier to breathe. "Shin-Il...I've been so bad at taking care of you. I've been taking care of my little Flower and the best unni in the world. Tomorrow is important. You need to eat well."
"I am eating well. You've kept me on the best study schedule. If I pass this stupid thing, it will be because you have held my hand the entire way. Ji-Na, taking care of your friends is important. You can't--"
"You are the most important."
"No." He said it firm and low. Her eyes dilated and her breath caught. "No. You are the most important. You. Your life. We'll go shopping together tomorrow after my exams. Make enough dinner for both of us to eat well, okay?"
"Okay." Her voice was small and she looked down at the ground. He still had her hands and meant to let go but she shuffled forward to hug him again. "I'm not used to it. Will you give me a spanking after dinner? Just a little one? My mind won't focus. I need to be focused."
Spanking her was a surreal experience. Learning to trust himself in this area took time. It was why he had the rule that they didn't play if one or both of them were angry. She wasn't the only one who...focused...when they did it.
If she was asking then he'd been neglecting her. He read a lot of books about this in the last few months. He didn't think he was as...assertive...as she wanted. After all, everyone from her past life, from her enemy to her ex, kept calling him soft, but there wasn't a lot he wouldn't do to make her feel loved.
They would figure it out. He trusted in that.
"Of course." He let go of her hands and kissed her forehead. "Are all the computers why you don't feel focused?"
"It wasn't a lot of money she took from the bank. I need to map out Jin-Ie's plan. I'm missing something. Everything is...stuck? Paralyzed. It is like we are on the edge of a perfect storm. All the birds are silent and waiting. If...if you spank me, I think my mind will work right. Just a little spanking, Shin-Il, I don't need more than that. I never have. I know that worries you. Lots of me worries you."
"Do you know why?" He twisted his hands in her hair and she made her happy noise. "Ji-Na, I love all the parts of you. Watching you fly, spending time with you, all of it, makes me so glad you are in my life. I don't want to be anywhere except where you're at. I want to love you the way you want to be loved. I worry that I'll fail because I don't understand. I worry I'm too soft."
She shook her head. "Not too soft. I love you because you are the right kind of hard. I will make enough dinner for both of us."
He let her go and picked up the barrettes that fell out during their conversation. Shin-Il went over and replaced them in her hair. She grinned up at him and looked ready to kiss him when there was a knock at their door. Her face hardened and she picked up knife out of the wooden block.
Shin-Il followed her to the door and looked out the peep hole. He looked down at Ji-Na but didn't tell her to put away her knife. "It's my mother."
