Hysteria, hubris, hype, histrionics....that’s one thing. But the rampant hypocrisy, hate and  homophobia now displayed by a number of shippers....that’s another.

Here’s a heartfelt post by @rainmanjdog, a plea for shippers to be left to have ‘fun’ in the way they want to without others’ disapprobation ( I assume she didn’t literally mean to compare shippers to members of the NRA)

I try really hard to not take all of this too seriously or personally.  But I fail at it, obviously, or I wouldn’t spend so much time here talking about how I feel!  With her scientific mind, @tvuckic has really helped me see this whole thing as a puzzle.  A game?  (No matter that I am an analyst by profession, I will ALWAYS be an emotional processor first.)  My expectations as a “shipper” are so low, in fact, that I kinda saw last night as…..predictable, and “successful” because a puzzle piece fit.  I was just happy to not see the appearance of someone who cheered and laughed while an animal was being sworn at as it was being beaten because it wasn’t dying fast enough.  That is how low my expectations have become.  Marina?  Success.  She is a loyal, trusted friend to BOTH Sam and Caitriona and a keeper of secrets.  Whatever you choose to believe those secrets are or aren’t.

For an hour or two last night?  I actually had fun again.  I did.  So?  What isn’t fun is women judging other women’s feelings or perceptions.  YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO FEEL OR THINK AS YOU DO.  Your feelings are YOUR feelings.  Your perceptions are YOUR PERCEPTIONS.

The reality is, as long as I base my emotions and happiness on the actions of two people who care less about me?  Its going to be a bumpy ride.  I want off that ride.  If you are able to rise above any of it and just block out the rest?  More power to you.  If you aren’t?  I get it.

Remember when we had a picture of Sam with his machete BTS from Caitriona filming Season 4?  They were making an IG story/“home movie” of an ax-murderer.  They are two seriously ridiculous, silly people who I think either take themselves too seriously in HW at times or there are circumstances I don’t understand. Hey!  This sea-sick shipper is grateful they at least didn’t attend different parties or let the cat out of the bag that they actually attended the same party this time.  I understand feeling cheated.  No, I FEEL cheated because while the two seemed to pretend they were ships-passing-in-the-night at the VF party?  We get treated to my darlingly adorable, always-smiling Emelia Clark with her GOT husband (and “my Hawaiian BF”) Jason.  To Sam and Caitriona?  What’s a few hours at a party pretending you don’t know the other is there?   To us the fans?  A picture would have gone a long way.  A LONG WAY in bringing positivity to a pretty dreary fandom.  So…..I call BS.   I don’t see Bradley or Lady Gaga outraged people are shipping them.

Sam, Caitriona, Outlander?  It may feel serious, but it really isn’t.  None of it is worth an iota of my anger.  I wish it was easier said than done. You know what IS serious?  Human-trafficking.  You know what really makes me angry?  My country can’t go a single week without a mass shooting.  I can’t do ANYTHING about Sam, Caitriona or condescending fans, but I can certainly TRY to do something about the recent statistics showing we may have wild orangutans wiped off the face of the earth in five years.  I am NOT OK with that.” Unquote

Let’s look again at Rainmanjdog’s line:

Does that apply then to the group of ‘fans’ who say Sophie Skelton can’t act? No unkindness there. 

Or the ‘fans’ who, far from giving ‘constructive criticism’ of Season 4, described it as the worst season ever, and (unlike the vast majority of viewers) could find NOTHING positive to say about it? The ‘fans’ who didn’t even watch the last three episodes, but relied upon the relentlessly negative critiques of @pissed- offsoka13?  The fans who rubbished the writing, the ‘fans’ like @jamesandclairefraser who called for Maril, Toni and Matt to be fired? The fans  who even called for Cait to be replaced because in Season 4 she frowned a lot and crossed her arms, just like she has done in every other season, if you were paying attention? 

Or does she mean the unkindness of the ‘fans’ who have traduced  Cait’s motives and character ever since the engagement, whilst trashing  the morals and motivation of Sam’s unfortunate blonde girlfriend ....what do they call her....’trashy’? No sanctimonious judgmentalism there.....no unkindness

Or perhaps she’s referring to ‘former’ fans like @its-moopoint, who never ceases to lose an opportunity to ‘ping’ with her finely tuned gaydar Sam (because he isn’t married to Caitriona, so he must be gay), or  Duncan (because he has no visible girlfriend) or John Bell (gaydar again), even  Tony (because he has a floppy fringe, and is Caitriona’s ‘fake’ fiance, so he must be gay too). Oh, and she accused ‘Tuna girl’ of being a whore, because she was photographed once in the same boat as Sam. Ergo, she must be Sam’s ‘ beard’, or a call girl. 

  No homophobia there then, no judgement, no sanctimony. Just ‘normal ‘ fanning (for me it beggars belief that in 2019 so many ‘liberal’ shippers follow someone with attitudes like that.But it’s okay, isn’t it?  She has A RIGHT TO FEEL OR THINK AS she does .  Her feelings are HER feelings.  Her perceptions are HER PERCEPTIONS.

Presumably that’s the same Tuna girl who @rainmanjdog was relieved not to see on Sam’s arm because she cheered when ....stop!...no sanctimonious opinions or judgments are permitted here on tumblr in the Outlander fandom.

Well then, I shall get back in my own lane. I won’t criticize the NRA’s objection to having the right to bear arms restricted to a well-regulated militia, like it implies in the American constitution, with good regulations like background checks and the banning of sales of automatic weapons.  I shall just ignore.

 I won’t criticize human traffickers, because I don’t want to stop wicked old men  ‘having fun’ and I don’t want to come over all sanctimonious and judgmental. I shall just ignore. 

And maybe, just maybe, I won’t criticize and be all judgmental and sanctimonious about women being mean, vicious, nasty, horrible and unkind to other women and thinking they can get away with it because their victims work in Hollywood, and are therefore paid to take such judgmental, unkind sanctimoniousness on the chin. I shall just ignore. 

( I do agree though with @rainmanjdog about the destruction of the rainforest and the loss of the orangutans. Take a look, people, at Google satellite on the island of Borneo. See the light green colours...zoom in and take a closer look . see those faint checkerboard grids; that’s all palm-oil plantations planted in the last twenty or thirty years; see how little natural habitat there is left for orangutans : in Malay orang  hutan, ‘man of the forest.’ Now look at the island of Sumatra, once home to elephant, tiger and rhinoceros as well as orangutans, and weep.

It’s rather easy to gain her affection when you play your cards right, for she is desperate for any kind of companionship. Minami laughs just a little too hard, angers a little too quickly, and becomes attached far, far too fast. Earning your spot in her heart is tricky at first, but once you do? All that viciousness, all that loyalty – they’re yours to command at will, forever. Minami would destroy the entire world if those she loved wished it to be destroyed. She lacks any sense of self worth, viewing her existence as only justified by her usefulness to her precious people. The second she becomes without purpose... Minami flocks to death like a moth to a flame, eager to burn to nothing. 

BACKGROUND: She was born in Kirigakure to Rui and Hanko Keumi, except she wasn’t born alone. She had been beaten in the race out her mother’s room by Kiseki, her identical twin sister. From the second the two met, still covered in all sorts of fluids and viscera, they formed an unbreakable, overwhelming bond. They never spent a moment apart, babbling and dancing together for all their waking hours. Minami loved Kiseki more than anyone, and Kiseki loved Minami more than everyone.

The two entered the Academy at age five. While struggling in more traditional lessons, Minami and Kiseki excelled in the various ninja arts. Far too aware of their village’s highly competeitve nature, Minami became a violent bully who beat the other children into submission as she cemented their position at the top of the food chain.

They graduated at age nine, both killing a prisoner of war to prove their worth as a ninja. A few years prior and they may have ended up killing each other, but the village had begun to treat their graduates more carefully after Zabuza’s stunt. No more classmate slaughtering; there weren’t enough kids to spare for such methods anymore.

Minami and Kiseki were placed in Team Three, joined by a boy named Sora and led by the jonin Akira Tanaka. After five years as a rather sought out unit, the three genins were considered veteran enough to take part in the Chunin exams. Thus began Minami’s spiral of tragedy.

During the last section, Team Three were nearly decimated by Iwagakure ninja. The Chunin Exams were, after all, a war by proxy. Iwa and Kiri resented each other, and the recent Yosuga Pass incident only spurned their hatred. It was only natural the two teams chose each other as their final enemies. Already injured and exhausted, Team Three didn’t stand a chance. Minami was beaten into a state of complete agony, and her sister’s screams became the catalyst to the awakening of her kekkei genkai - the Blood Release, inherited from her mother’s Inoue genes. The Iwa genin were killed, ripped apart and mangled beyond recognition. Kiseki and Sora, on the verge of unconsciousness, were left as the only witnesses to Minami’s awful power.

They returned home. Sora snitched. The twins were deemed to be both dangerous and traitorous. Their deaths were sanctioned. The Keumi couple fled, leaving their daughters to their seemingly inescapable fate. They were right, in a way. Kiseki was murdered, skull smashed to bits by a well timed earth style. But they were also wrong. Minami didn’t die. She managed to get out of the village, her sister’s body carried on her back. She abandoned Kiseki’s corpse out of necessity, left nestled in a meadow, and ran. Oh, how she ran! Minami was entered into the Bingo Book as a C-Rank criminal, responsible for the killing of two Kirigakure ninja sent to assassinate her. 

She made her way to the Land of Fire, finding herself in an Inuzuka’s clutches. His power and gang (named Kiba) offered her protection from the Hunters, but she had do many, many disgusting things to maintain his promise of safety. Under his tutelage her power grew exponentially, and she began her rampant killings of Water officials. With each murder, the victim found hung by their own guts, she left the symbol of her extinct clan painted with blood. 

At age sixteen, practically seventeen, Minami gave birth to a son. She named him Hisoka and abandoned him after three days in the Land of Wind.

Shortly after, she killed his father and left Kiba. Minami would join a few organizations, using them as temporary meat shields from the Hunters, but she eventually went for the ‘lone wolf’ approach. She was nineteen years old when her rank in all the village’s Bingo Books was updated to A-rank. By then, she was strong enough to confidently fight those who came for her head alone.

At twenty-two, Minami killed Akira Tanaka. That woman had been like a mother to her, but she had been the one to crush Kiseki’s skull. All love Minami ever had for anyone, especially Akira, died the second Kiseki did. It was a slow and painful; sister killers didn’t deserve a nice and peaceful way out. No, no, no. They had to suffer.

The Akatsuki scouted her out after that, offering her a role as an agent to be called on and asked to do miscellaneous missions. Minami agreed, impressed by those who sought her out.

At twenty-five, she was promoted to a genuine member of the Akatsuki. Not that it was much of an achievement, mind you. Everyone else had died, so there wasn’t much choice... Although the true identity of ‘Madara’ had left her in shock, she eagerly obeyed his orders and joined his strange war. Sora had escaped her grasp for eleven years. Slippery bastard. But, now? With her being the enemy of an allied army and him being a soldier of said army? He couldn’t avoid her anymore! 

Minami got her wish. She found Sora and tore him in half, making sure he lived for as long as he could in that state to see his comrades die. However, reinforcements came just a minute after her long awaited revenge came to fruition. Minami had finally completed her goal. There was no longer any reason to force herself to keep living. She barely put up a fight, losing her left arm in the ensuing struggle. For some reason, Minami found herself running. And dying from chakra depletion. She had already used most of it in her battle with Sora, but this new unwanted amputation... It was draining up everything left faster and faster. By the end, Minami couldn’t even move. She collapsed onto the ground, surrounded by flowers. It was nice. Quiet. Peaceful. She had gone numb a while ago, so the pain of having a stump for an arm didn’t even bother her. 

Did she deserve to die like this, so calmly and joyfully? Perhaps. Perhaps not. But that’s what happened. As she lost every drop of chakra in her body, she found herself growing tired. Minami closed her eyes, and never opened them again.

The alliance soon found her body and placed it inside a scroll for safekeeping. Over the course of the war, it was lost during transit and never recovered.

I can’t believe it’s come to this but I must tackle MULTIPLE people at the same time.

Get ready everyone, this is gonna be a rough one.

From the OP, we have the following:

Miles and kerry stated that because of the tumblr fandom disliking the jaune arc they aren’t going to do arcs for other characters. Which when writing a story heavy series and trying to make it sound smart and well written is not an excuse.

Considering the fact that Ren and Nora, Weiss, Blake and Yang all had an arc, I have to assume that was a joke they made that you took out of context. maybe if I had a link or source to see for myself and be proven wrong otherwise but nope, no source I’ll just make my own assumptions.

So jaune a side character got little establishment and barely even stuck to it. (note the “This is all I ever wanted to be.” Yet neglected all study portions) and the actual 4 main characters of team rwby get no arcs cause people complained about jaune.

I saw Jaune slack off once in the entire series. That is it. And in that very same scene, Nora and Pyrrha were slacking off as well so it’s not just jaune. And consider the fact that Jaune in Volume 4 is constantly training as shown in Episode 2 of Volume 4 that is obviously not true that he hasn’t stuck to his character.

Also: Jaune is a main character. It has been confirmed by Monty himself that Jaune and his team are main characters. This is a GOOD thing as this means there is at least two male main characters in a female eccentric show meaning RWBY is officially putting in more effort to actually be progressive than most so called “progressive” shows.

And again: Weiss, Blake and Yang had arcs in this very volume so again, this seems like you’re just ignoring whatever you want to justify your hate to Miles, which puts your entire criticism at risk.

“You wanna elaborate on how ruby’s a tactician?”  Miles: “Nope.”

Midn providing a link? Because otherwise, I can point out that RWBY devised the plan to kill the Nevermore in EPisode 8 so Miles SHOULDN’T need to point out the obvious to you. This isn’t Evangelion where symbolism and insanity runs rampant so there’s no excuse to miss points like this.

Lesser writers of a lower station than RT would be flayed alive if they gave that response.

Considering the fact that so many in the rwde tag twist their critics words to make them seem like the bad guys when they aren’t agreeing with them (myself discluded for obvious reasons) and you yourself have said that black people who don’t agree with you are coons as @mageknight14  can attest, your group has a much more cultish attitude than the main fandom which has evolved beyond that.

And Konami has about 100x the fanbase of RT so that just tells me that the rwde tag is toxic enough to account for 12 communities.

... All this tells me is that you have a personal grudge against @takashi0 and that you don’t understand that the fandom as a whole is pretty accepting of criticism. Also, rwde has had some very strong Radical Social Jsutice views in it to the point that they kind of mirror actual misogyny just in reverse, blaming guys for everything. As in, I hardly hear criticism about females in rwde. so he might have a point there. Dunno what a “cuck” means.

like people already pointed out that jaune’s had too much screentime to miles. it was like during volume 2 or something, and miles and kerry said theyd work on that. lol no work happened and jaune ended up being the “And Knuckles” of the show and now theyre getting pissed because fans dont like it?????? miles and kerry need to hire some different writers

But they have. Jaune was written down to being a support character for Pyrrha in Volume 3 and has been written down as a support character for Ruby in Volume 4. He hasn’t had the focus of Volume 1 or even 2 in a long time.

And considering Miles and Kerry are the ones who made RWBY alomgside Monty and you demand they step down before they’re ready, that’s akin to demanding Burnie step down from RvB before his time: It’ll do nothing but damage.

Result- Ignorance of acknowledged and fixed flaws.

More like RWBY ended up being the &Knuckles. Jaune & RWBY.

In Volume 4, The amount of focus the main characters got are as follows: Ruby, Weiss, Blake, Oscar, Ren and Nora, Yang, Jaune. Jaune, unlike even Yang, had barely any focus on himself: it was all used to develop Ruby, it was all Ruby’s focus using Jaune as a tool. That is fundamentally wrong.

And the problem is that THEY are the writers. And both have high RT positions and several dozens of layers of Cultish RT Fandom Protection.

No, the problem is that all of you have shown yourselves untrustworthy as you bully and harass people without end be it the writers or the fandom. You will call anyone who defends the a cultish, basically demanding everyone change around you instead of changing yourself. If you could just stop insulting Miles and Kerry and the fandom then people will actually listen.

Unless they REALLY fuck up (and I am talking about a literal catastrophe here, because RT have really low standards for this kind of shit), they wont move. Ever. Probably not even get a reprimand.

You said “Jaune is getting too much screentime” they gave him less screentime, you said they ignored you. It’s pretty obvious why they aren’t listening to you: you have proven yourselves unworthy of paying attention. Only I, someone with almost no self worth, listen to you and even tehn it’d to try and cork your hole. All it takes is some respect and restraint to be worthy of listening.

If shit didnt change when Shane’s letter happened, I cant think of a thing that will make RT stop hiding behind their massive apologist cult fandom. Again.

That’s because Shane was depressed and his letter was obviously biased as he wrote up entire pages of things that had no relation to RT outside of getting sympathy. And instead of getting him to the hospitial, people in your community used his depression to attack RT, going as far as to use MONTY against them. Honestly, they’re only as much of a cult as you are. Perhaps try being nicer.

Result- Hypocrisy and name calling.

I signed on to watch four kickass girls fighting monsters. Not some badly-written attention whore who apparently isn’t morally obligated to send Pyrrha’s stuff to her parents because Creator’s Pet™.

*Lets out a frustrated sigh* If Jaune was a creator’s pet then his entire purprose in Volumes 3 and 4 wouldn’t be building up other characters. His strategies wouldn’t be used as jokes, eh wouldn’t fail at every corner, eh wouldn’t get crocthed shotted, he wouldn’t be outted as the elader of his team to Ruby, he wouldn’t get the rape face from Tyrian, eh wouldn't get glared at by everyone for calling out Qorw, he would attribute what little character development he had to Ruby and his upgrade wouldn’t result in him getting bitchslapped..

Jaune is not the main focus: he never was and he certainly isn’t now. I don’t now why you insist in it so: eventually the writers will give up and actually do it then what will you do? You’re complaints will have actually damamged the show and the writers all because you can’t understand that a female eccentric show can have a strong male cast.

Final Result: Very skewed Perspectives and massive hypocrisy.

Advice: Calm down and think or try being kinder or just stop.

I Voted for Trump

*This was meant to have been posted quite awhile ago, but clearly got stuck in the queue*

I voted for Trump.  I haven’t really been on to advertise this statement too widely, because I didn’t see it as worth the hassle.  However, now, now I do.  I’ll say it again.  I voted for Donald J. trump.  #Imwithhim.  More to the point, and really what this post is about, is that I’m proud I voted for Trump.  I even voted for him in the Primaries.  Here’s the thing though...I could go onfor days about why I voted for him, and why I actually think he’ll do our country a world of good but instead, I would rather talk about the relief I feel at standing behind him from the beginning.

Relief isn’t even a strong enough word to express how I feel about what is going on in our country right now.  Giddiness comes closer, yet that is coupled with irritation, frustration and embarrassment.  Not embarrassment for my choices though, not because we’ve supposedly elected a racist, fascist, homophobic, misogynistic, she-man woman hater asshole.   But instead because of all the bullshit I’m witnessing.  You know what I’m talking about, I’m talking about the sulking, the whining, the temper tantrums, the name calling, the closed mindedness, the lack of respect, the bullying, the violence, and if we’re gonna throw it all out on the table here, the treason. 

Eight years ago when Obama was first elected president, and appointed Hilary Clinton as the Secretary of State, I had a sinking feeling he was going to be really bad for our country.   There were a lot of his political stances I didn’t agree with, but the two main reasons there were rocks in the pit of my stomach was Hillary’s new role, and the fact that despite what people will admit, we really probably voted him in because he was a charming black man.  What better way to prove to the world and ourselves that we are so frigging progressive.  Even when he wasn’t talking about it, race was his deep seeded main platform.  How are we going to eradicate racism in this country when it had just become our new podium?

Despite my feelings for Obama, however, I remember walking into my office the next morning after the election and being greeted by my very liberal officemate who refused to talk politics with me.  He was happy to that day though, because he had just won.  I remember him asking if I was going to be OK.  I looked at him like he was ridiculous and said “yes, of course.  So, we lost.  Obama is our president now, and I genuinely hope he does a good job.”  Then, I moved on with my life.

I moved on and watched as our national debt increased, our unemployment rate didn’t change, the household median income went down, the housing market went up, billions of dollars were spent on “green” initiatives which eventually went bankrupt, the percentage of Americans on food stamps went up almost 40%, taxes went up, even for folks who made below 250k annually, we alienated Israel, apologized to Islamists and terrorist groups for offending them, and signed off on Obamacare which consisted of 897 documents, totaling 20, 202 pages of regulations.*  And then, in 2012 we held another election, and we voted him in again.  I was admittedly, a little disappointed, but it’s not as though I thought Mitt Romney would solve all of our problems either.  So, I kept following what was going on, I kept going to work, I didn’t put on a safety pin, I didn’t cry, I didn’t un-friend people who voted for Obama…again.  I continued to try and have political discussions with those around me, most of whom resided on the left, and plenty of whom didn’t want to discuss politics with me.  They were afraid it would ruin our friendship.

So now, here we are, another 4 years, and many disasters later: Benghazi, Obamacare, more national debt, violence and racism running rampant in the media and the commuted sentence of Radley (err…Chelsea) Manning.*  Luckily, this time, the guy I wanted to win, actually won.  I’m thrilled.  I’m not going to pretend I like everything about Trump, of course I don’t.  However, I think he is exactly what our country needs right now.  Our country was dying, falling victim to years and years of politics slowly corrupting everything that once made America one of the greatest countries in the world.  I think, and genuinely hope that Trump starts to help us turn it around.  I don’t care that he has no filter, and says wildly inappropriate things.  I care about what he does; what he wants to do.  You, however, do not care about what might actually happen.  Instead, you care that you lost, and you are putting toddlers around the world to shame with your incessant whining and temper tantrums.  Not just that though, you’re terrified that because Trump is President, that there will be more violence, people will be mean spirited, closed minded and unaccepting.  It’s a real shame for you that you’re right, that is happening.  However, it’s not coming from the Trump supporters.  You’re doing it.  If you want anyone to listen to you and take you seriously, then have a conversation, allow people who disagree with you to speak and engage.  Instead, riots are breaking out where Trump supporters are being beaten, people are terminating friendships because someone has opposing views, the mudslinging and the nastiness that is coming directly from the mouths of Hillary supporters is absolutely appalling, and I’m embarrassed for you.There may or may not be any of you still reading this who oppose everything I’m saying, but in case you are, here’s what I would love for you to understand.  You are terrified right now because Trump just officially became our president.  Well, I know how you feel; I would have felt exactly the same way if Hillary had won.  The main difference in our feelings though is that you are afraid of Trump because he’s an ass who says a lot of things you fear he might act on.  I was afraid of Hillary because of the things she has already done, and subsequently terrified of what she might end up doing with even more power.For all of you who are “with her,” does it really not concern you that one of the most powerful people in the world has been so lax with our country’s security, that she has knowingly taken money from Middle Eastern nations who oppress women’s rights, that she stayed with Bill despite his many indiscretions, and not just stayed with him, but fought against the women he admitted to having affairs with, all to stay in power? So here we are, 24 hours into Trump’s presidency, and there are millions of women out there protesting.  Protesting what?  What are you looking to accomplish?  Women haven’t lost any rights!  In 1970 when women held a protest for civil rights, they were looking for something, they were fighting for something, something tangible, and ultimately, they got it.  You’re out there wearing vagina costumes and protesting to get something you already have. And just so we’re clear, you are not oppressed; not in this country.  If you want to see oppression, please go and spend some time in Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iran, Mali, Somalia.  Those are countries where women’s right barely exist, if at all.  I understand that we are not living in one of those countries, and I agree that you have every right to protest and speak out; but please, know what you’re looking to accomplish.  Also, try not to be too hypocritical.  If you’re pissed off because you think tolerance and understanding are going right out the window, then why are you only allowing people who see your side of view to protest with you?  If you’re protesting that women should have the right to decide what happens to their body, then why are you harassing the 50+ women who showed up in support of women to choose life?   I’m really sick of the hypocrisy we’re facing in this country.  

I honestly have no idea if President Trump will do a good job or not, but it won’t matter if we keep going the way we’re going.
