oh i'm warning you this is gonna sound insane !!
This theory entirely hinges on the fact that Nick genuinely did change a lot about Winx. I probably don't need to list every single thing they did, but making the Winx stay at Alfea, not letting Roxy officially join (she was set to be the 7th member!), resetting a lot of the characters' personal progress, Daphne being "cursed" instead of Dead etc. Nick reset and retconned a lot of the show to fit a more "family friendly" look and to set the show back to the bare basics so they could milk it longer.
And like, everyone knows this yeah? The theory about Nabu hinges on this And the fact that Rainbow never truly shied away from death and death images before. In fact, in Nabu's death scene, they say multiple times that they're trying to "give back life". But then of course, Morgana says, "Until he wakes up again, you have my word", in reference to Aisha asking if they'll take care of him. Literally every single fan took that to mean that Nabu would come back, in some way or another. When s5 first aired, most people assumed it would be from the sirenix wish!
BUT again, Nick changed a lot about Winx mostly to reset the characters and their setting (ie going back to young students at Alfea instead of graduated protectors of the universe) and to make things more... basically Christian Kid Friendly. So the theory is that Rainbow wanted to bring Nabu back from the dead (not from a coma) but Nick didn't want that because it was too serious and it would be too confusing for any kid who just started watching the show (even with the specials and them airing s4).
Another aspect of this is that Rainbow fully intended to have Nabu die from the beginning. It's possible they weren't planning this in s3, but from the very beginning of s4, you can see them getting ready for this. The fact that his personality is wiped of Anything that could be seen as negative or annoying, the fact that aibu move really fast and get engaged despite both of them having previously decided to take things slower, and Nabu being on par with the Winx in terms of magical strength and intelligence (even though Iginio was very set on the male love interests being eye candy and practically useless for Girl Power reasons - which does happen to Nex and Roy). He also has a lot more involvement in s4 than the other specialists (helping on missions, immediately becoming Riven's best friend and helping him, always being the last one standing, yaddayadda).
His entire role in s4 was him being That Bitch because Rainbow wanted to kill him off and make it very meaningful. This genuinely was not some half-assed idea for drama, it was intentional and every decision they made with him was done with that intention in mind. They wanted fans to love Nabu, to remember him, to have his death hurt. And then,,, they wanted Aisha to not move on but instead try to bring him back. But Nick didn't want anything that serious and forced her and the other characters to move on from Nabu and keep some Not Very There semblance of the circle of life (yknow,, despite Daphne coming back the same season). They didn't want Aisha to be Too Main Charactery because they still wanted Bloom to fill that role, they didn't want any complaints from parents about how "winx is too serious it's made by the devil death oh god think about the children", and they really wanted to commit to resetting the timeline which meant resetting their power and their character progression.
So yeah, Big Conspiracy Theory is that Rainbow fully intended to kill Nabu off And bring him back to life but Nick stopped them and told them to just come up with a different character. It's possible that's why it took them a while to commit to a specific love interest too but eh. We'll never truly know :')
my favorite winx conspiracy theory is that rainbow fully intended to bring nabu back but nick stopped them
#like listen dont get me wrong them killing him off was still extremely racist#but i think a lot of people have either moved on from nabu or didnt care about him in the first place/dont consider s4 Canon etcetc#and because of that there's this attitude that rainbow killed him off Super Randomly and it was a last minute decision#and that morgana's words weren't serious and were just meant to make kids happy or hint at reincarnation#and like... i'm sorry but y'all genuinely aren't giving rainbow enough credit#and ik that sounds WACK because it's rainbow and they're insane and do weird things#but iginio also likes to plan things out and it's also an animated show? they still have to plan what's gonna happen???#nabu's death was Extremely Intentional and you can see that honestly from s3#it was planned!#and personally i think that means morgana's words did mean something#the theory about him being in a coma literally just came about because of those words#'until he wakes yadda yadda'#but they also kept referring to giving back life and aisha fully said goodbye#DUDE DIED#thats not a coma baby he fucking ate shit !!#but i do fully believe that rainbow intended to bring him back to life#its not like that would be impossible they did the same thing with sky#obviously they do her dirty A Lot but rainbow genuinely liked aisha back then and she was very much the second main character#nabu's death (and planned undeath) was very much For Aisha#it was for her to have A Moment#but yeah the entire theory is that they wanted to bring him back but nick was like ohnonono... that's too serious#but since he was Already Dead and they didnt want to reset him in either since nick Did air s4#they had to just scrap him and come up with someone else for aisha#winx club#my tinhat is extremely comfy idk about you guys but i love it here alhgdlag
