Abel Costello was born into an incredibly privileged life. Vacations, parties, higher education. Abel didn’t give a fuck about any of it. He was like his father in just about every way. They both had that quick fuse, the dead look in their eyes whenever you pissed them off badly enough. Abel’s father, Gio, was an asset to the mob from a very young age. He was a ruthless assassin, a skill that he’d inevitably pass down to Abel. The rest of his cousins acclimated to the mob life in a different way growing up; their roles carried more weight because their father was the boss. Abel was just eager to get his hands dirty. He didn’t care about titles, didn’t care about money or fame. He cared about the principle of it all. The Costellos were conquerors, and if Abel had anything to do with it— they’d stay that way.

Abel began training at the mere age of fifteen. It was all self defense first— learning how to disarm someone, protecting himself from the enemy. After, he learned how to incapacitate someone in seconds. His father ensured that Abel would be the perfect assassin. Abel exceeded everybody’s expectations. 

A lot of his uncle’s associates didn’t take him seriously at first, but Abel quickly silenced any doubts that fell on him or his profession. He was to be taken seriously, even at the age of eighteen. Abel saw no use in furthering his education. He was fully devoted to the mob. It was a dark and narrow path that Abel had chosen. There was no cutting corners, no sugar coating anything. Shit was rough all around. His father was arrested and imprisoned in 2011 for several drug trafficking charges. Abel didn’t know how his father was caught in the first place. Gio had always been so careful, so discreet in his dealings— Abel immediately knew that his father was set up, and it didn’t take long before he found the culprit.

Kieran O’Connell, loyal as ever to the Sinclairs, had been made aware of his father’s upcoming negotiation and decided to take matters in to his own hands. From that day on, Abel has hated Kieran so deeply. Normally, those who wrong the family are dealt with immediately, but this was different. It was so personal, and Abel wanted it to hurt. So he was patient. He waited until Kieran felt settled, happy, secure. Kieran’s engagement to Cecelia Jansen seemed like the perfect signal to set his plan in motion. He waited, let them enjoy their engagement, before deciding to cut their brakes late one night, on their return from a trip. 

Abel was a little annoyed that they both hadn’t died in the car accident, but it did seem to turn their once loving relationship into a tumultuous one. Abel knew that it wouldn’t be long before he finished the job, but watching them wallow in their heartbreak made his twisted heart smile. Since then, Abel’s kept a relatively low profile. With his father sitting in prison, he knew that he had to play the game right. Abel had always been very cautious, but now even more so. Not just as an assassin, but as a Costello in general. Being consigliere has proven to be an exhausting task. Abel’s had a difficult time coping with Luca and Paisley's wedding. He’s advised Marcel against it repeatedly, but Marcel is not required to accept his advice by any means. He’s forced to sit back and watch his cousin marry the enemy, the same people who they’ve hated for so long. Whatever comes of this wedding— Abel just hopes it’s worth it.
