[Translation] SOARA Drama CD Vol. 3 - Ano Hi, Bokura wa - Track 1
Tumblr media
To the wonderful person who shared this with me, thank you very much! This is a very fun drama CD!
Also, Iā€™m not sure of the track titles since I donā€™t have the CD itself so please bear with me titling them ā€œTrack 1/2/3ā€ ^^ ā€» Ā There are some medical terms here and since I am not medically well-versed, please do tell me if my description of what a rotator cuff is is wrong XD
SOARA Drama CD Vol. 3 [Ano hi, Bokura wa] (That day, we were...) Track 1
Under the cut, enjoy~
SOARA Drama CD Vol. 3 Track 1
(writing on chalkboard)
TEACHER: And so, this is completely different from middle school. Though there might be a lot of anxieties and confusion, Iā€™ll try my best to turn that into hope and excitement.
SORA: (yawns)
TEACHER: Hm? Hey, you there. You seem very sleepy, arenā€™t you?
SORA: E-ehā€¦?! Ah, Iā€™m so sorry.
TEACHER: (laughs) I donā€™t mind. The entrance ceremony just finished and I may have been speaking for so long already. Sorry about that. I heā€” (his voice fades slowly)
SORA: Woahā€¦! That surprised meā€¦
MORI: Itā€™s great that he didnā€™t get mad, huh~?
SORA: Eh? Ah, yeah, Iā€™m glad. He seems like a nice teacher. Though he talks a lot.
MORI: Right?
TEACHER: Oh no, I strayed off the topic again. We were supposed to do introductions, right?
TEACHER: (flips open his notes) Letā€™s seeā€¦ Going by alphabetical order, the one sitting in frontā€¦ You! Itā€™s you, isnā€™t it?
TEACHER: Shall we hear from Arihara-kun?
MORI: Yes. My name is Arihara Morihito. I graduated from Takami Middle School.
MORI: I visited this school during a field trip and I fell in love with its atmosphere so I took the entrance exam. I heard that the school clubs are wonderful too so Iā€™m looking forward to it.
MORI: Itā€™s nice to meet you all.
(students clapping)
TEACHER: Arihara-kunā€™s so calm even after introducing himself first. How wonderful!
TEACHER: It seems like youā€™re excited about the school clubs. What club were you in during middle school?
MORI: Ah, I was part of the student council so I didnā€™t join any clubs.
TEACHER: Ah~ You do look like the type to be in the student council!
MORI: (a little flustered) Do I really?
TEACHER: You might do well in this schoolā€™s student council, too. Ah, by the wayā€”(his voice fades out)
SORA: (quietly, to Mori) You were in the student councilā€¦?! Thatā€™s so amazing, Arihara-kun. Youā€™re so smart!
MORI: Iā€™m not really that amazing. Our school didnā€™t really have a voting method and it was mostly decided on recommendations only.
MORI: And um, Iā€™m fine with being called Morihito or Mori instead of ā€˜Arihara-kunā€™.
MORI: Thatā€™s what they called me during middle school, too.
SORA: Got it, Moriā€¦hitoā€¦ Hmā€¦ Mori!
MORI: Yep.
SORA: Being recommended is even more amazing. That means you were pretty popular, right?
SORA: To me you just became a really awesome person!
MORI: Whatā€™s that supposed to mean?
TEACHER: Then the next one isā€¦ Ohara-kun!
SORA: A-ah, yes!
(Sora suddenly stands up)
SORA: Umā€¦ Good afternoon! I graduated from Daisan Middle School! My nameā€™s Ohara Sora! Ohara Sora is my name~!
SORA: Iā€™d be happy if you remembered my name associated with a big open field under a blue sky!1
SORA: Ohara Sora~ Please take care of this Ohara Sora~!
SOSHI: Sora, you sound like youā€™re in an election.
SORA: Shut up, Soshi~ Ah, heā€™s from the same middle school as I was but please donā€™t mind him.
SORA: Ohara Soraā€™s hobbies are karaoke, trying out different restaurants, etc. Oh, and Iā€™ll still continue to grow taller from here~!
SORA: Iā€™m looking for a girlfriend so girls, please, speak to me while you can~
SORA: Ah, but anyoneā€™s free to go and do karaoke and eat delicious with me~ Letā€™s play a lot!
SORA: Itā€™s nice to meet you all!
(students clapping)
SOSHI: Thatā€™s great, Sora~
SORA: Ah, thank you~ Thanks, thank you~!
TEACHER: Thank you. It just got a lot of fun, huh?
TEACHER: So Ohara-kunā€™s a light-hearted mood maker, huh?
SORA: (laughs) Thank you very much!
TEACHER: Ah, then next one is umā€¦ Okuda-kun?
OKUDA: (nervously) Yes, umā€¦ Umā€¦ (his voice fades out)
SORA: Uwahā€¦! I was so nervousā€¦ Well, at least now it feels like Iā€™ve just overcome the first obstacle!
MORI: Ohara Soraā€¦?!
SORA: Ehā€¦? A-ah, yeah.
MORI: By Ohara Sora, you meanā€¦ Donā€™t tell meā€¦
MORI: Youā€™re the Ohara Soraā€¦?!
SORA: ā€˜Theā€™ā€¦?
(Mori suddenly stands up)
SORA: Uwaā€”e-ehā€¦?
MORI: Woahā€¦! Woah, this is amazing!
SORA: Eh? E-eh? What?
MORI: (in awe) I knew that you were from a school in the same [Saitama] prefecture, but to thinkā€¦! To think that Iā€™d meet you in a place like thisā€¦!
TEACHER: Okay, thank you. Then, next one up i--
MORI: Ohara Sora-kun!
TEACHER/SORA: Eh?
MORI: Iā€¦
MORI: Iā€™m your fan!
TEACHER/SORA: Pardon?

(cicadas chirping)
SOSHI: (sighs) (to himself) How many times have I been back to the hospital, huhā€¦
NURSE A: Kagurazaka-san, sorry for making you wait.
SOSHI: Yes. (Soshi stands up)
NURSE B: Oh? Soshi-kun, are you alone? Whereā€™s your father or your mother?
SOSHI: My younger sister suddenly got sick yesterday so theyā€™re taking care of her.
SOSHI: Iā€™m only here to listen to the medical examination results so I think Iā€™ll be fine alone.
NURSE B: A-ah, I seeā€¦
SOSHI: Iā€™ll be fine alone.
NURSE: Soshi-kunā€¦
DOCTOR: Itā€™s a rotator cuff tear.
SOSHI: Yes.
DOCTOR: Shall I explain in detail?
DOCTOR: The rotator cuff is a set of small muscles, tendons, that are connected to the shoulder joint.
DOCTOR: Itā€™s an important part in order for the shoulders to work butā€”
SOSHI: Doctor.
DOCTOR: Yes?
SOSHI: Will I be able toā€¦ play in my next match?
DOCTOR: Hmmā€¦
SOSHI: Iā€™m a starter player. I think that itā€™d be troublesome for the team if I donā€™t tell them properly.
DOCTOR: I think it will be a little difficult for you to play in the next match.
SOSHI: Is that so?
SOSHI: By that you meanā€¦ itā€™ll be difficult for me to play in the matches after that, too, right?
DOCTOR: Yes, thatā€™s right.
SOSHI: I understand.
DOCTOR: I heard that Kagurazaka-kun is a very strong player. Your coach gave you such high praises for being able to be the leading player that will take the team to Nationals.
DOCTOR: I think it wonā€™t be a lasting problem in the future if itā€™s only light exercise or fun play. Howeverā€¦
SOSHI: Doctor.
DOCTOR: Yes?
SOSHI: I donā€™t have an idea how many high school students play basketball. But, I can imagine that there are a lot of exceptional ones.
SOSHI: Iā€¦ I managed to even go to Nationals once.
SOSHI: No matter how much I practiced, I managed to stand in a place that many people couldnā€™t go to.
SOSHI: I thinkā€¦ Iā€™ll probably remember the scenery, the feeling, and even the smell of the air during that time forever.
SOSHI: I managed to make good memories.
SOSHI: I played basketball with all my might.
SOSHI: Iā€™m satisfied.
DOCTOR: Is that so?
SOSHI: Yes. Of course, I wonā€™t lie that I did feel like I wanted to try going to Nationals again this time.
SOSHI: Still, I think that Iā€™ve already done what I had to do.
SOSHI: Thatā€™s why itā€™s not them [who I think are at fault], it might be me.
DOCTOR: Kagurazaka-kun, even if you canā€™t play basketball competitively anymore, your life will still continue on.
DOCTOR: Itā€™s not like what youā€™ve accomplished is for nothing. You can still do a lot more with the willpower you have inside you.
DOCTOR: I feel like if itā€™s you, you can do a lot more than play basketball.
DOCTOR: Please take care.
SOSHI: Yes, thank you very much.

(automatic doors to the hospital open and close)
SORA: (in a panicked tone) Soshiā€¦
SOSHI: Sora? Youā€¦ Why are you here?
SOSHI: This is the university hospital, you know?
SOSHI: Did you come all the way here on the train?
SORA: Itā€™sā€¦ When I came to visit you at home you werenā€™t there andā€¦
SORA: Auntie said that Rise-chanā€™s sick so she couldnā€™t come with you andā€¦ Rise-chan was crying soā€¦
SORA: Soā€¦ I thought that I had to go to where you are.
SOSHI: I see.
SOSHI: Well, the medical examā€™s over.
SORA: Eh? For real?
SOSHI: For real. I only came here to listen to the results so it wasnā€™t that long.
SORA: Ahā€¦ I seeā€¦ And so?
SOSHI: Well, how do I say this? I guess I played too much basketball back in middle school.
SOSHI: Guess I have to find a new hobby.
SORA: (starts crying softly)
SOSHI: Stu~pid~ Why are you the one crying?
SORA: Iā€™m not crying!
SOSHI: Even though Iā€™m not crying.
SORA: Thatā€™s why Iā€™m crying! (Sora sniffles)
SOSHI: See? You really are crying.
SORA: (in between sniffles) I meanā€¦ You did your best a lotā€¦ at basketball andā€¦
(Soshi walks closer to Sora)
SOSHI: Sora.
SORA: What?
SOSHI: Thank you.
SORA: (continues crying)
***
SORA: Ahā€¦ I criedā€¦
SORA: I cried after a long time.
SOSHI: Yeah, you totally did~
SOSHI: I got anxious about someone being bothered by your wailing in front of the hospital so I had to take you somewhere else.
SORA: Well, sorry about that.
SOSHI: Here, water. Hydrate yourself properly or else youā€™ll collapse from dehydration.
SORA: (opens the bottle and starts drinking) I wouldā€™ve preferred carbonated water though.
SOSHI: Oh-ho~ (he starts snatching away the water bottle from Sora)
SORA: A-ah, I was lying! Sorry! I said, sorry!
SORA: Thank you very much! Iā€™ll treasure the valuable water that you gave me.
SOSHI: You shouldā€™ve just accepted it just like that, yā€™know~?
SORA: U-uwahā€¦
(Sora continues drinking)
SORA: When we were in middle school, you used to drink big gulpfuls of water, huh?
SOSHI: I looked cool, right~
SORA: I thought that you should just explode.2
SOSHI: Hey, you.
SORA: That just means that you were so cool. Though itā€™s annoying.
SOSHI: I see.
SOSHI: Well, thatā€™s obvious?
SORA: Learn some proper manners! Courtesy, humility!
SORA: Ah, geez. This might be late but you looked real cool when you played basketball, Soshi!
SORA: Great job.
SOSHI: Yeah, thatā€™s right. Thank you.
SORA: Yeah.
SORA: (gets up from the swing) Alrighty~ Letā€™s go home, Sou.
SOSHI: Roger~
SORA: (gasps)
SOSHI: Whatā€™s wrong?
SORA: Lend me some money, Sou. I didnā€™t bring money for the fare home.
SOSHI: Donā€™t you have a card with you?
SORA: I didnā€™t think Iā€™d be riding the train so I didnā€™t bring it with me!
SOSHI: For real? What were you gonna do if you didnā€™t see me?
SORA: I only just realized that now, too!
***
(alarm beeping)
MORI: O-ohā€¦
MORI/SOU: I fell asleepā€¦
MORI: Souā€¦?
SOSHI: Mori.
SOSHI: Umā€¦ Is thisā€¦ Soraā€™s room?
MORI: Yeahā€¦ Looks like itā€¦
MORI: Whereā€™s Soraā€¦?
SORA: (snoring loudly)
SORA: (sleep-talking) W-w-w-wait, I canā€™t eat anymoreā€¦ (laughs)
SOSHI: Looks like heā€™s sound asleep while having a really bizarre dream.
MORI: A-ahā€¦ (laughs)
MORI: Ah, I remember now. Sora suddenly said ā€˜Itā€™s a SOARA drinking party!ā€™ when we were on our way home from our walk last night.
SOSHI: Well, even though he said that it only felt like we were drinking juice. Either way, itā€™s what he does before a deadline comes close.
MORI: He might get a great idea when he comes to later.
SOSHI: Mo~ri, youā€™re always spoiling Sora no matter what happens.
SOSHI: Ah, I remembered something, too.
SOSHI: This guy got too caught up and--
SORA: (sleep-talking) No, thatā€™s not steakā€¦
SOSHI: He kept bringing up our high-school memories.
MORI: Ah, right. He brought out some pictures andā€”Ah! So thatā€™s why I had such a nostalgic dream.
SOSHI: Dream?
MORI: Yeah, I saw a really nostalgic dream.
MORI: It was about the day I shouted ā€˜Ohara Sora-kun!ā€™ out loud during our first dayā€™s self-introductions.
SOSHI: Uwah~ That totally happened.
SOSHI: Just think how we all reacted after a model student such as you suddenly shouted and grabbed a boyā€™s hand.
MORI: (chuckles) I wish youā€™d forget that.
MORI: I thought ā€˜Ah, what did I do?ā€™ afterwards. I was too overcome with emotion that time so please let it slide.
SOSHI: Youā€™re still a serious fan of Soraā€™s music even today though.
MORI: As expected from Soshi, you know it so well.
SOSHI: I know it even if I donā€™t want to.
SOSHI: Oh yeah, I had a nostalgic dream, too.
MORI: Eh? You, too?
SOSHI: Yeah, it was a dream from when I found out I couldnā€™t play basketball anymore.
SOSHI: Guess I remember it so well, huh.
SOSHI: Like the cicadas chirping, or the sunlight, or the smell of the hospitalā€™s hallway and stuff. It felt too real for a dream.
MORI: I see.
MORI: Um, Soshi, this might be a little late butā€¦
SOSHI: Hm?
MORI: I was really shocked when I heard that you were going to quit the basketball team during summer vacation.
SOSHI: You were? Why?
MORI: Why, you ask. Of course itā€™s because I was unaware of one of my friendā€™s big problems.
MORI: And then, when I found out, you were already decided on quitting. I think thatā€™s why I was so shocked.
MORI: It wouldā€™ve been nice if you could have told me over text or on the phone. I wanted to be there for you even though I probably couldnā€™t do much.
SOSHI: Ah, well. Werenā€™t you away overseas during vacation?
SOSHI: You were dragged by your musician parents on their European tour, werenā€™t you? I thought itā€™d be rude to tell you some bad news while you were enjoying yourselves overseas.
MORI: Rude, you say. I justā€”
SOSHI: Ah, I know. Sorry. Iā€™ll definitely tell you if something similar happens in the future.
MORI: Absolutely, okay?
MORI: But, Iā€™ll pray that nothing like that happens again. I donā€™t want that kind of problem to happen to my friends.
SOSHI: Guess youā€™re right.
SORA: (sleep-talking) Yes~ Number one, Ohara Sora. Iā€™ll sing now~
SOSHI: Heā€™s still sound asleep. Whenever I see this guyā€™s face like that I feel like nothing badā€™s gonna happen.
SOSHI: It makes me think of how peaceful it is~
MORI: (chuckles) Yes, thatā€™s a good thing. Heā€™s so sound asleep, huh~
MORI: Iā€™m glad I set an alarm. If I didnā€™t, the two of us would probably still be asleep until late like Sora.
SOSHI: Totally.
SOSHI: Hm? Whatā€™s the alarm for anyway? Do we have something to do today?
MORI: Eh? Now that you mention itā€¦
(knocking on the door)
NOZOMU: (over the door) Sora, wake up!
REN: (over the door) Sora-senpai! Are you awake?
REN: (bangs on the door) Please wake up! And also, do you know where Soshi-senpai and Morihito-senpai are?
REN: (over the door) If we donā€™t leave for the agency soon, we wonā€™t make it.
MORI/SOU: Thatā€™s it!
MORI: (scrambling to get up) Ren, Nozomu, Iā€™m sorry!
MORI: Me and Sou are here with Sora. We just got up and weā€™re gonna get ready now soā€”
(Mori starts cleaning things up)
SOSHI: Mori, we can leave the cleaning for later.
SOSHI: Come on, wake up, Sora! (Soshi pulls the futon from underneath Sora)
SORA: Huh? So-Souā€¦?! Woah! Wh-wha--
MORI: Good morning, Sora.
SORA: Eh? Mori?
SOSHI: Come on, get up. Wash your face. Come on, go, go.
SORA: Sou?! (Soshi starts to push Sora) W-w-waitā€¦ E-eh?
SORA: E-ehā€¦? Where am I? Whoā€™s here?3
MORI: Your name is Ohara Sora. Youā€™re the composer and leader of a youthful band.
MORI: We are your members and weā€™re currently hurrying because weā€™re running late.
SOSHI: Weā€™re all supposed to be at the agency today, right? We have to be there in 20 minutes.
SOSHI: So, come on, hurry up and get ready.
SORA: Eh? W-wait, donā€™t push me, Sou! Ahhhhh!!
REN: (laughs nervously) W-well, at the very least, itā€™s great that we found the three of them.
NOZOMU: Th-though it sounds like a lotā€™s happening on the other side of the door, huhā€¦
REN: Yeah. Nozomu, shall we wait for them while drinking tea?
NOZOMU: Yeah, letā€™s~

Translatorā€™s Notes:
1 Ohara Sora is written in kanji like this ā€œå¤§åŽŸ ē©ŗā€ the ā€œå¤§/ooā€ character stands for ā€œbig/largeā€ and the ā€œåŽŸ/haraā€ character can be found in the word ā€œåŽŸć£ć±ā€ which means ā€œopen field/plainā€, thus, ā€œå¤§åŽŸ/ooharaā€ can mean/can be alliterated to ā€œbig, open fieldā€. And of course, ā€œē©ŗ/soraā€ means ā€œskyā€.
2 Sora has mentioned in another drama CD before that ā€œall cool people should just explodeā€ XD
3 Sora actually confuses asking ā€œWho am I? Where is this?ā€ so thatā€™s why Mori answers him like that. Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā
