something something ghoap staying at johnny’s family farm that’s less than two hours away from glasgow.
they barely reach the damn place because simon insists on driving and takes a wrong exit on the highway and johnny has to piss a hundred times during the drive.
the air is crisp and cold and frosts the tips of their noses and simon forces indifference when johnny’s fingers brush simon’s to hold the duffel bag so he can close the trunk of the car.
johnny knocks on the front door and his mother rips it open, hugging his son and without a second to think, hugs simon as well and ushers them inside.
johnny’s father is a simple man and gives simon a firm handshake and a pat on his back and shows him the dining room, a feast set on the table and every salad under the sun overflowing in hand painted bowls that johnny’s mother made when she did pottery ten years ago.
johnny’s sisters are there, his niece and nephews as well, all children and simon sweats thinking how in the hell he is supposed to talk to them. are the boys at the appropriate age to know about guns and knives? or do they look at encyclopedias of greek mythology and dinosaurs? does the niece like barbie and dress up? or is she one of those girls that like to collect bugs and draw hopscotch on the pavement with colorful chalk and wipe the excess from her fingers onto her pants?
they watch him with eager eyes and giggles smothered behind tiny hands, and watch in awe when he lifts his balaclava to expose his mouth so he can eat.
johnny does the talking at the table and simon can’t understand a fucking word he’s saying because he’s gone full scottish with his family, only hums and nods occasionally. he wolfs down every piece of food, the human trashcan that he is (and because he doesn’t remember the last time he had a home-cooked meal), and nearly combusts for a second time that day as johnny’s mam places a plate with a thick slice of apple pie in front of him, vanilla ice cream melting over it and puts a hand on his shoulder, “johnny told me ye have a sweet tooth, so i made it especially for ye.”
simon who does silent breathing exercises so he doesn’t cry because he misses this so fucking much. to sit down with a family and enjoy a meal together with loved ones and not fight, nor scream nor yell nor cry nor throw food nor break plates and it’s just laughter upon laughter upon claps on the shoulders and clutching at arms and pulling each other into side hugs and light jabs that mean nothing and don’t break into full blown fights and simon thinks he’s going to vomit.
simon who gets to see johnny’s childhood bedroom. it’s decorated in superhero posters and hanging medals and trophies from gymnastics and competitive shooting competitions. johnny turns sheepish when simon points them out, teases him and likes and fears the swirl of warmth in his chest when johnny’s ears and neck turn red. he’s told “still a better shot than you,” and if johnny were anyone else, he’s be given toilet cleaning duties for the next three months.
simon who wants to pull out and empty every drawer, check every nook and cranny and learn and suck in every single piece of information and story there is about johnny and what — there’s pictures of you as a kid? with a mohawk? fuck off, soap, lemme see.
johnny opens the left door of his wardrobe and it’s covered in baby pictures of him and his family and simon’s chest tightens but he doesn’t break his gaze. Lo and behold, Johnny points out a picture on top and holy shit, it’s him holding a fat, orange cat the size of half his body and he’s sporting a long mohawk. His cheeks are stained with tears but there’s a forced grin on his face and blood on his chin. johnny explains it was his 7th birthday, he fell off a swing, hit his chin and his mam still wanted a photo. the cat’s named ‘fergus’ and he’s still alive and has lost most of the weight. he explains more photos but simon’s eyes keep coming back to the first one and he just wants to lean down and leave a gentle kiss on the scar covering johnny’s chin.
the kids don’t leave simon alone, as much as uncle johnny protests and tells them to get tae and let ‘em rest, he’s been drivin’ all mornin’ but watches them from the kitchen with a soft smile as simon walks around with the kids hanging and clutching at his strong arms like they’re monkeys and simon can’t get enough of their giggles and ooh’s and ahh’s when he tells them heroic and child-friendly war stories about their uncle. he also tells them that he sucks ass at taking orders and sharing his MREs and that they should listen to their parents and respect their elders and share with each other. johnny smothers a grin behind his hand as simon uses his lieutenant’s voice when speaking to the kids about these things.
johnny steals simon away then, “gotta show ‘em the horses”, and simon keeps his distance and doesn’t dare get up on one of them. the cockiest, scared, Lt.?” with a shit-eating grin from johnny makes him grab the reigns and climb on. johnny leads the horse down the field and they fall into a comfortable silence. simon can’t get enough of the peace and quiet and chirping of birds and gentle yet chilly breeze on his hands and johnny is suddenly coming to a halt.
simon looks down at his sergeant, and his cheeks are flushed red and there’s determination and well-masked hesitation in his blue eyes and before simon knows it, he’s being pulled down by the sleeve of his jacket and johnny is cupping the sides of his face and pressing a gentle kiss over the material of simon’s mask. it’s innocent, quick, almost like it doesn’t even happen and isn’t registered. but their gazes meet when they part and it’s over for both of them because simon is fervently pushing his mask up and cupping johnny’s cheeks and they’re both leaning forward again and pressing kiss upon kiss upon kiss on each other’s lips and simon finally thinks,
i’ve found it. i’ve found home.

Something something having a bad day and finally getting home to relax with a comfort food and a drink under your favorite blanket only to spill it all over you. Staining your shirt and soaking the blanket.
Breaking down in tears because why can’t anything go right?
Simon coming home to find his love bawling her eyes out, teary and borderline wailing.
Thinking she’s hurt or someone’s done something to her until you babble to him about work and stress and “stupid fucking motor skills, I can’t even feed myself-“
Simon taking it upon himself to fix everything. Making up a warm bath full of bubbles, candles lighting the bathroom so you don’t have to put up with fluorescent lights.
Scooping you up into his arms like you weigh nothing- it’s laughable when you mutter something about being too heavy. As if.
“Hush,” he murmurs and sets you atop the sink, taking your wet clothes off with a gentleness unlike the large Lieutenant.
He gets you situated in the bath, leaving to return several minutes later with a brand new drink and food for you.
By then you’re embarrassed over the breakdown, peeking at him from your hiding spot behind the bubbles.
He pays it no mind. You’re shy, so what? It won’t stop him taking care of you.
“You’re alright love,” he says in a loving tone that’s reserved for you. Only for you. He’ll sit with you in the silence of the room, not bothering to make you speak or ask you questions. You’re overwhelmed, that much is clear, and you deserve some peace and quiet.
So Simon sits beside the tub with you, feeding you small bites as the soothing water and aromas calm you down. He treats you like a princess, washing your skin and your hair for you. Blatantly ignoring whenever you protest that “I can do that, Si, you don’t have to-”
You’re his baby, his world, and he’ll treat you like so.
He dresses you in his clothes so you’ll feel warm and comforted in his big hoodie and boxers. Staking his claim on you.
He tucks you into bed despite your whines of how early it is, wraps his mountain of a body around yours to keep you grounded and feeling safe. Turns on that show you’ve seen a million times that he bitches and moans about but watches anyways.
And he watches you fall asleep, whispering soft declarations of love and adoration into your dried hair. Never letting you think for a second that you aren’t absolutely cherished.

So many thoughts
He was gripping the steering wheel of the blue Bronco, and you waited silently for the engine to start. But it didn't. He barely moved. And you barely moved. But you couldn't step away from the window even as the light inside the Bronco faded into the night. Everything was silent. Your pounding heartbeat was all you could hear as the baby squirmed around in your belly like she knew her father was too far away from her now. Minutes passed, and you sank down onto the couch, but Bradley never started the engine.
I can't 😭
Your emotions were a mess as you eventually left the couch to get ready for bed. After you checked on Rose, finding her sound asleep in her crib without a care in the world, you peeked outside one more time. Bradley was still in the driveway, watching over the Craftsman and everything inside. You took your broken heart to bed, trying your best to fall asleep through your tears.
And I am trying to read through my tears 🥲
It was cold outside this late in October, but Bradley sucked it up. He was certain you knew he was still sitting in the driveway, and he didn't want to start the engine at three in the morning and startle you. Or make you think he was leaving. He wasn't going anywhere. So he let the cold surround him. Maybe you didn't want him in the house with you and Rose at the moment, but it was his responsibility to protect his family.
I respect that
Between small spurts of sleep, his mind drifted to the idea of you and Rose packing up everything in the house and moving across the country to live with your parents. It left him on the verge of panic each time. He bought the house for you. He had a family because of you. He was living beyond his wildest dreams married to you.
I just wanna give him a hug 🫂
There was no way to convince you he wasn't lying. There was nothing he could say at this point that wouldn't sound like he was trying to cover his own ass. You could talk to Mav or Nat or Jake until they were blue in the face, but if you didn't trust him, it would sound like everyone was covering for him. Because truthfully, only he and Lieutenant Jeffries knew for sure that Bradley had never touched her.
Unfortunately this is very true..
I'm leaving for work. If you want to talk, come find me, and I'll clear my schedule. We'll figure this out. We have to, because I can't live without you. I love you.
🥺🥺🥺
His stomach growled as he drove, reminding him he didn't get to enjoy what you cooked for dinner last night. He'd been missing dinner too often. It was almost Halloween, and the two of you should have been planning a costume for Rose to wear. He should have been working on an anniversary getaway for November. He'd been fucking up a lot for someone who wasn't aware he was doing it, but he certainly wasn't an adulterer.
I'm glad though that this serves as a reminder that he hast to get his husband and dad duties back in order☝🏻
Once again, he thought about you throwing all your fancy kitchen gadgets in a box and leaving without a backward glance in his direction. Bradley's hands shook, and he didn't know how he'd make it through the day at this rate.
I really hope for everyone's safety he is not going in the air today 🥴
The walk to his office was long, but not long enough for inspiration to strike. Maybe Nat could give him some advice. She'd been harping on about girl code the other day. As much as he hated to admit it, Jake might be a helpful ally right now. He was a big fan of yours, and always quick to remind Bradley he'd married way out of his league.
Yeah let's round the troops, because he won't get out of this alone when he didn't even realize his fuck up on his own 🫣
This was all exhausting. Nausea and fatigue waged war in his body as Bradley stumbled to his feet once again.
Not to be petty, but I'm glad he gets a taste of his own medicine with BG and her pregnancy symptoms 🤷🏻‍♀️
The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, fingers wrapping around the bottle so aggressively, he was afraid it would explode in his hand. He'd been told to keep his distance for now, but clearly Indigo was none the wiser as she followed him right inside his office.
This bitch 😤
Indigo froze before bursting into delighted laughter that set his teeth on edge. "Ruin your life? I can assure you, Sir, I would like nothing more than to have a very good time with you." Any warmth remaining in Bradley's body vanished, leaving him sweaty and shivering. "That's not appropriate," he gasped. "You're reporting to me through Top Gun, and I'm married."
STAND 👏🏻 YOUR 👏🏻GROUND👏🏻ROOSTER👏🏻
She rolled her eyes and muttered, "This was a lot easier last time." "You've done this before?" Bradley asked, eyes darting to the door and empty hallway beyond, wishing he'd just gone to your office instead.
No fucking way!! But I mean with her behavior this should not surprise me 🤦🏻‍♀️🥴
"I like older men," Indigo replied sweetly. "Ones with lots of pins on their uniforms. And they've always been agreeable before."
Dont get me wrong, I think this is absolutely vile behavior, especially directly to BG, but she is just using the rules that always held women especially in male dominated field back and plays it with her own rules, so I kinda get it were she's coming from.. it's like the "women in male field" trend in a way, in a very morally fucked up way 😅🙈
"Are you out of your mind?" Bradley's voice shook, but it was loud enough that she froze again. "You think I would jeopardize my marriage for you? My family? The thought never crossed my mind!" Indigo licked her lips. "I've seen your wife. She's pregnant again. And she's -" "She's perfect," Bradley barked, eyes blazing as he glanced at the wedding photo. "Do not talk about her. Ever." He squeezed his eyes closed and squared his shoulders before glaring at Indigo. "Get the fuck out of my office."
Halleluja 👏🏻🙏🏻
Why were you in his office? You were crying, working your hands in front of your pregnant belly as you whispered, "I'm sorry, Bradley!"
Omg this is perfect!
When he held his arms open, you rushed into them, burying your face in his chest as you wailed. He had no idea why you were in his office, but if the end result was getting to hold you tight, he didn't need a reason. As soon as you touched him, he immediately felt better.
🥹🥹🥹
"No. It's not okay," came your immediate, muffled response, arms tightening around him. "I made you sleep outside. I told you I'd leave with the girls." You looked up at him, tears brimming from your eyes. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you." Bradley shook his head, bringing his hand up to rest on your cheek. "I'm sorry I put you through this shit. This is so fucked up."
Ahh finally, I feel like I can breathe again😅
Bradley kissed your quivering lips as you started to calm down. "Please never leave me. I'm not going to stop being in love with you. Okay? I just want my girls." With one more kiss, he whispered, "And there's nothing wrong with the way you look. You're perfect." The smallest smile found your lips. "That's what you told Indigo."
Yes he did 👏🏻😌
"I hate her." "Me, too," he sighed, exhausted from thinking about Indigo.
Me, three
He let his breathing match yours, falling into a comfortable rhythm that he didn't want to let go of yet. "I have an idea. Let's go home." "Home?" "Yeah. Let's go get Rose from the nursery and ditch the rest of the day. I just want to go home." Now you were the one running your hand along his scarred cheek. "You must be exhausted." When he nodded, you said, "Okay. Let's go home, and I'll take care of you." When you tried to pull away, Bradley kept you close. "No. I'm going to take care of you. I clearly haven't been doing enough of that since I started this position. So that's going to change immediately." "We can take care of each other," you replied easily, but you were smiling.
🥰🥰🥰
You laced your fingers with his and started to tug him toward the door. "To get the ball rolling on Indigo's spectacular downfall." "What?" Bradley's eyebrows shot up. "I just inadvertently managed to clear my name, and you already formulated a plan?" You waved your free hand in the air. "It's like half a plan at best, but it's coming together."
Iconic 👏🏻 😂
Bradley made sure the door locked behind him. "I am in awe of you," he murmured, letting you lead him down the hallway. "Nobody messes with my husband."
And BG takes that promise seriously ☝🏻
You smiled to yourself. "I want to start doing it sooner." "Sooner?" she asked, confused. "How much sooner?" "Tomorrow."

Tramp whimpered at your feet. The muffled sound of the Bronco's door closing sent you to the front window to look out onto the driveway. It was dark, but you could see Bradley's tear-streaked face lit up by the dome light as you choked on a sob. It took everything you had to stand there instead of running to him.
You wanted him to come back inside, but you just told him you wouldn't hesitate to take the kids and move back to Maryland with your parents. "What did you do?" you gasped as fresh tears filled your eyes. You couldn't tell if you were being strong or stupid or some combination of the two, but the longer you stared out the window, the more you realized Bradley wasn't leaving you even though you told him to.
Relief washed over you knowing he wasn't running off to Indigo. Maybe there was a way to salvage things. You couldn't take back what you said, and he couldn't take back anything he'd already done with her, but you didn't think you could stop loving him. You didn't think you could separate him from his daughters.

And he wanted to be as close as you'd let him. Between small spurts of sleep, his mind drifted to the idea of you and Rose packing up everything in the house and moving across the country to live with your parents. It left him on the verge of panic each time. He bought the house for you. He had a family because of you. He was living beyond his wildest dreams married to you.
Everything with the Navy took time. Mav was a big help, but a report would need to be written up for formal action. And now Bradley would need to notify someone about the new message Indigo sent with the world's worst timing, but meanwhile he was supposed to carry on like everything was completely normal.
As soon as daylight broke, he rubbed his exhaustion away from his eyes. He wanted to get to base to shower and change into the clean flight suit he kept in his locker, but he had to make sure you knew he spent the whole night in the Bronco first. So Bradley waited until he saw movement inside. Just a quick flick of the living room curtain, but he was sure you saw him. Nevertheless, he sent a text.
I'm leaving for work. If you want to talk, come find me, and I'll clear my schedule. We'll figure this out. We have to, because I can't live without you. I love you.
He didn't expect you to respond right away. He stretched, his body positively aching from sitting in one spot for so long before he started the engine.
The locker room was empty as he changed out of his wrinkly uniform and slipped under the hot shower stream. Nothing was going to make him feel better if you didn't trust him. Once again, he thought about you throwing all your fancy kitchen gadgets in a box and leaving without a backward glance in his direction. Bradley's hands shook, and he didn't know how he'd make it through the day at this rate.
As he pulled on his flight suit, he thought about going up to your office to wait for you to arrive. But he'd end up on his knees again, begging you to stay with him, and that wasn't what you needed to hear right now. He was exhausted, but he tried to clear his mind and think of some way to convince you he would never do anything to hurt you. But if Indigo already made comments directly to you, it felt like all hope was lost.
He settled in behind his desk, unable to look away from the wedding photo for a few minutes. You looked perfect that day. You were perfect every day. There was no doubt you'd be perfect without him, but he didn't want you going anywhere unless you took him, too.
"Fuck," Bradley gasped, lungs burning with the effort to hold back his tears. His students would be sitting down to take a practicum exam shortly. He didn't necessarily need to be there, but it would look good if he was. But he'd also have to face Indigo in the classroom. Maverick was still up in Lemoore, and he was the only one who knew Bradley filed a formal complaint.
This was all exhausting. Nausea and fatigue waged war in his body as Bradley stumbled to his feet once again. He needed something to drink. Some cold water. He threw his office door open wide and walked back up the hallway to the small lounge where he grabbed a water bottle and downed it in one go. Panting, he took a second one before slowly heading back the way he came.
He didn't even feel better as he started sweating profusely. He wanted you. He wanted you to let him hold you. He wanted to kiss Rose.
His office door was just a few feet away when he heard her voice.
"Lieutenant Commander Bradshaw."
The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end, fingers wrapping around the bottle so aggressively, he was afraid it would explode in his hand. He'd been told to keep his distance for now, but clearly Indigo was none the wiser as she followed him right inside his office.
"Sir," she said, voice bold and unbothered. "I thought we could walk to the classroom together."
Bradley spun and looked at her. He really shouldn't be surprised at this point. He also shouldn't be talking to her alone in his office, but she was standing there expectantly, blinking those eyes up at him.
"Unless you're not ready to head over yet...."
Her words trailed off as she casually reached for the door, fingers grazing the wood.
"Do not close that door," Bradley barked, surprising himself with his angry tone. Indigo's hand dropped to her side, eyes wide, but she took a step closer as he backed up until he hit his desk. He managed to set the water bottle down, chest rising and falling rapidly. He shouldn't be talking to her, but he couldn't help himself as he shook his head. "What is your problem?"
She cocked her head slightly, a hesitant smile on her lips. "Sir?"
Bradley skirted along past his desk as she tracked him. "I don't understand why you're trying to ruin my life," he hissed.
Indigo froze before bursting into delighted laughter that set his teeth on edge. "Ruin your life? I can assure you, Sir, I would like nothing more than to have a very good time with you."
Any warmth remaining in Bradley's body vanished, leaving him sweaty and shivering. "That's not appropriate," he gasped. "You're reporting to me through Top Gun, and I'm married."
She rolled her eyes and muttered, "This was a lot easier last time."
"You've done this before?" Bradley asked, eyes darting to the door and empty hallway beyond, wishing he'd just gone to your office instead.
"I like older men," Indigo replied sweetly. "Ones with lots of pins on their uniforms. And they've always been agreeable before."
"Unbelievable," Bradley groaned, ready to throw away all of his insignia pins and run away. "Lieutenant Jeffries, I have never laid a finger on you. We've never been alone in here with the door closed, ever."
"But you wanted to. You can admit it," she whispered, reaching once more for the door.
"Are you out of your mind?" Bradley's voice shook, but it was loud enough that she froze again. "You think I would jeopardize my marriage for you? My family? The thought never crossed my mind!"
Indigo licked her lips. "I've seen your wife. She's pregnant again. And she's -"
"She's perfect," Bradley barked, eyes blazing as he glanced at the wedding photo. "Do not talk about her. Ever." He squeezed his eyes closed and squared his shoulders before glaring at Indigo. "Get the fuck out of my office."
He was afraid she wasn't going to listen, the way she stood there and stared at him in surprise. But Bradley had nothing left. His fingers were shaking, and he was sure he was going to vomit. She finally turned and marched from the room with her chin in the air, and Bradley turned to face his desk.
Panic like he never felt before filled his veins. He had no idea what he was supposed to do now as he gripped the edge of his desk and stared down at his boots. His body shook with silent sobs as he tried to catch his breath, but his brain couldn't seem to get past the fact that his life was in absolute ruins.
"Oh, God," he gasped, lifting his head in time to see his office door move a few inches. Before he could fully register what was happening, you popped out from behind it and carefully pushed it closed.
"Sweetheart?" he croaked, examining your tear-streaked cheeks before you stumbled closer to him.
Why were you in his office? You were crying, working your hands in front of your pregnant belly as you whispered, "I'm sorry, Bradley!"
When he held his arms open, you rushed into them, burying your face in his chest as you wailed. He had no idea why you were in his office, but if the end result was getting to hold you tight, he didn't need a reason. As soon as you touched him, he immediately felt better.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," you sobbed over and over, body shaking against him. "I was so scared, and I look so awful right now. And I'm just so sorry!"
"Shhh," he coaxed softly, kissing the top of your head before letting his chin rest there. "It's okay."
"No. It's not okay," came your immediate, muffled response, arms tightening around him. "I made you sleep outside. I told you I'd leave with the girls." You looked up at him, tears brimming from your eyes. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you."
Bradley shook his head, bringing his hand up to rest on your cheek. "I'm sorry I put you through this shit. This is so fucked up."
He let you cry, wiping your tears with his thumb as they fell for the longest time. He already felt like he could figure out a way to fix everything as long as you still wanted him.
Bradley kissed your quivering lips as you started to calm down. "Please never leave me. I'm not going to stop being in love with you. Okay? I just want my girls." With one more kiss, he whispered, "And there's nothing wrong with the way you look. You're perfect."
The smallest smile found your lips. "That's what you told Indigo."
"Baby Girl, that's what I tell everybody," he promised, relieved beyond belief that you witness that miserable exchange. "What are you doing here anyway?" he whispered, keeping you snug against him as you looked up at his face. "Not that I'm complaining, but I wasn't expecting you to want to see me."
"I came to talk to you as soon as I dropped Rose off." You wiped your tears on his flight suit as you added, "When I got here, the door was wide open, so I came inside. Then I heard her voice in the hallway. I panicked and hid behind the door."
"And I couldn't be happier that you did," he whispered.
"She really wanted to close the door."
"She really did."
"I hate her."
"Me, too," he sighed, exhausted from thinking about Indigo. He let his breathing match yours, falling into a comfortable rhythm that he didn't want to let go of yet. "I have an idea. Let's go home."
"Home?"
"Yeah. Let's go get Rose from the nursery and ditch the rest of the day. I just want to go home."
Now you were the one running your hand along his scarred cheek. "You must be exhausted." When he nodded, you said, "Okay. Let's go home, and I'll take care of you."
When you tried to pull away, Bradley kept you close. "No. I'm going to take care of you. I clearly haven't been doing enough of that since I started this position. So that's going to change immediately."
"We can take care of each other," you replied easily, but you were smiling. "I just need to talk to Cat first."
Bradley groaned softly. He was already imagining the three of you at home. He would make lunch while you fed Rose, and then everyone could take a long nap. He just wanted everything to feel normal again.
"Why do you need Cat first?"
You laced your fingers with his and started to tug him toward the door. "To get the ball rolling on Indigo's spectacular downfall."
"What?" Bradley's eyebrows shot up. "I just inadvertently managed to clear my name, and you already formulated a plan?"
You waved your free hand in the air. "It's like half a plan at best, but it's coming together." You paused. "You know what? I'll just call Cat when we get home. I'm sure we can handle it from there. I really want to snuggle with you, and I'm starving."
Bradley made sure the door locked behind him. "I am in awe of you," he murmured, letting you lead him down the hallway.
"Nobody messes with my husband."
--------------------------------
You felt alive again for the first time in weeks. You were thriving. Bradley never let you out of his sight as he made lunch and burped Rose. He put her down in her crib, wrapped you in his arms, and led you toward the promise of an afternoon nap.
"Wait, Cat's calling me back," you whispered, watching his face fall as he tried to get you to the bedroom. "It'll just take a minute."
"I can barely keep my eyes open," he murmured, kissing your cheek before you backed away. "Just come in when you're done."
You watched him turn to the bedroom, pulling his undershirt over his head as he went. The temptation of his warm body wrapped around yours was almost too much to fight, but when you thought about Indigo, you wanted to punch a hole in the wall. Or her face.
"Hi."
"Where are you?" Cat asked. "I thought I saw you in the parking lot this morning, and now you're magically nowhere to be found."
"I'm at home," you told her quickly. "Hey, how close are you to finishing the new code for the Super Hornet updates?"
There was a beat of silence. "Not that close. We aren't rolling out the updates until the end of the year. It'll ground some of the pilots."
You smiled to yourself. "I want to start doing it sooner."
"Sooner?" she asked, confused. "How much sooner?"
"Tomorrow."

Hearing that straight from Indigo had to make BG feel so much better! Is this me being nicer? Beginning to mend things? Stay tuned.

The Driver (FC43 x fem!reader)
Tumblr media
SUMMARY: After years of being with your boyfriend, Franco Colapinto, you should feel secure and ready for your budding future. When old anxieties creep in, will your relationship withstand the pressure?
WORD COUNT: 9.5k
WARNINGS: Semi-public car sex (reader and Franco are both switches, fingering, p in v). Angst, mentions of cheating. Heavy mentions of marriage, incredibly Champagne Problems coded but I have to stick to the Måneskin theme. Probably incorrect geographical depictions of Spain. Reader has an anxiety disorder/struggles with mental health. Same universe as Supermodel/RYD (in RYD, Franco’s Aston Martin contract is only one year, so we’re just skipping ahead here).
A/N: You all asked for Franco car sex and instead I gave you emotional pain :) I don’t think I’ll ever stop writing for RYD!Franco, I just love him too much. After this I’ll keep writing for Wildflower and then maybe do a few one shots before the next series perhaps? Either way, hope you enjoy!

If you gonna set fire to the night, baby let me be the lighter
If you’re already high and you wanna fly, I’ll be the hit that takes you higher
If you wanna love when you touch the sky, you can be my midnight rider
If there’s nowhere to go when you wanna go wild, I wanna be the driver
After getting his first multi-year Formula 1 contract—complete with a hefty sign-on bonus—there were three things that Franco Colapinto needed to buy.
The first was a house for his parents.
He led his mother around the massive home, showing her every little detail that he had noticed when he chose it, all perfectly arranged according to her taste. At first, she wasn’t sure what her son was doing; he had wanted it to be a surprise, so he didn’t tell her anything.
“Yes, Franquito, the home is beautiful,” she said, craning her neck to look at the high ceilings, the sunlight from the massive windows illuminating her face. “But why would you buy a house here in Argentina? You’re hardly ever home, you can just stay with us in the off season.”
Franco, like his mother, was a pragmatist. He’d never buy himself a mansion in Argentina unless he had retired from F1 and decided to settle down. But his career was just getting started.
She continued, “I mean, you and YN don’t need this much space—”
“It’s not for us, Mami,” he said, finally letting loose the smile that he’d be fighting all day. He was never able to keep secrets, too much of a chatterbox. “It’s for you.”
“Franco—”
“Mami,” he said, already anticipating her hesitation. “It is the least I can do. I can never repay you for all you’ve done for me.”
“That’s my job. You don’t need to repay me.”
“Maybe I don’t need to, but I want to.”
Tears had begun to well up in his mother’s eyes. She knew it was impossible to stop him. It was every athlete’s dream to make enough money to buy their mother a house one day; she wouldn’t take that from him.  “I’m so proud of you, mijo,” he said, enveloping her son in her arms. “You have made me proud beyond measure.”
It was Franco’s turn now to tear up, though he blinked them away and smiled. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”
“I figured something was up,” she laughed, “this house is too much my style for you to buy it. I think YN would like it, though. How is she doing?”
“She’s good,” he answered, unsure of how to proceed. His mother let him pause, knowing he was about to say something. “I’m… thinking about asking her to marry me.”
“Oh, wonderful!” she replied, her smile now stretching ear to ear.
“We haven’t talked about it yet, though. So don’t get your hopes up. She might not say yes.”
“Why wouldn’t she?” his mother questioned. “You’ve been together for years, through thick and thin.”
“I don’t know,” he said, scratching the back of his neck in nervousness. “We just…haven’t talked about it. I’m nervous.”
“Well, don’t ask her until you’ve talked about it. But I see no reason why she’d say no.” She reached out to smooth over a piece of his hair that was stuck up at an odd angle. “Take your time,” she continued. “If you all aren’t ready now, there’s no harm in waiting. You have the entire rest of your lives to be together.”
Franco gave her a weak smile, his expression still plastered with nervousness. “But when you do get married,” she continued, as if it was a fact, “I expect grandbabies.”
He laughed, despite knowing that she was dead serious. That would be a bridge to cross later.
For now, he had a second purchase to make: his first real car.
Franco, despite being a Formula 1 driver, had always been down to earth. When he drove for Williams, they had to fight him over taking the bus every day. Even in his early days, his future had been too unstable to spend all his hard-earned money on something like a flashy car, especially since he’d be away so often that he’d hardly be able to use it.
But now, he knew that the time was right, and he’d more than earned it. So, when Franco woke you up at the crack of dawn to go to the luxury dealership in Madrid to pick up his new car the second that they opened, you obliged him despite the hour being far too early.
As the salesman handed him the keys, Franco beamed as if he was holding his newborn child, his eyes wide with love and anticipation.
“She’s beautiful,” he whispered, running his hands up and down along the hood of the flashy luxury car.
You stood back, afraid to even touch this car that was more expensive than your net worth.
“She’s perfect. She’s the most perfect car I’ve ever seen.” He looked up at you, smiling like a giddy child. “Isn’t she perfect?”
You smiled back, amused by Franco’s happiness. “It certainly is a nice car.”
“It’s not just a nice car. She’s a machine.” You chuckled back at him. “Let’s go for a ride.”
You were honestly a little scared of getting in the car. But when Franco crossed over to open your door for you and help you inside, you couldn’t tell him no.
Sitting inside, you had to admit that it was a really nice car. Franco yapped on about the technical abilities of the engine, but it was in one ear and out the other—despite his many years in F1, you couldn’t say you had learned anything about the machines that your longtime boyfriend drove for a living. But you loved to hear him talk, especially when he was this happy, so you nodded as if you were listening intently.
Franco went to back up the car, putting his hand on your headrest and leaning over his shoulder. The move showed off his prominent muscles and instantly melted you. Even after all these years, it was the little things that you never got tired of.
He sped along the highways, giggling to himself as he heard the engine rev and felt the smoothness of the ride. His smile never wavered as he increased his speed and weaved through the slower cars.
He skipped the exit that would lead back to your home, though. “Where are we going?” you asked.
“I want to show you something,” he said, being intentionally vague with his intentions.
You raised an eyebrow. Franco wasn’t one for surprises; he talked too damn much to ever keep them. If he hadn’t told you before now, it must be something serious.
He moved his hand over to hold your thigh, another one of those little things he did that still made you crazy no matter how many times he did it. “Trust me, amor,” he said.
Of course, you trusted him. So when he exited the highway and began driving into the Spanish countryside, you said nothing, instead choosing to enjoy the feeling of his hand rubbing soft circles into your thigh as the trees blurred past you and the engine purred.
After a while he finally slowed his speed, bringing the car up to an empty overlook off the main road. Through the tinted windows, you could see that this place was hidden, nestled off by the trees so that you could only get here if you knew where you were going. The view was gorgeous; miles and miles of lush greenery, and in the far off distance, the city that you had just left.
“Wow..” you whispered. “How’d you find this place?”
“I used to run on these roads out here when I was younger,” he said, admiring you as you admired the view.
“It’s beautiful.”
“I don’t get to come here much anymore,” he said. “I never thought I’d come back here one day as a Formula 1 driver.”
“Thank you for bringing me here,” you said, leaning over to kiss his cheek. His face had the slightest tinge of blush, so subtle that only you could see it.
“Come on, let’s get a good look,” he said, turning off the engine and opening his door.
You got out of the car and softly gasped again when you saw the view with your own two eyes, rather than through the tinted glass. It left you breathless.
You sat cross legged next to Franco on the grass, taking in the sights of the countryside around you. For a while you were quiet, just soaking in the sounds of nature.
Then Franco broke the calmness. “Have you ever thought about getting married?”
His voice was soft, but his words startled you. “Married?”
“I mean, we’ve been together for a while. About time, no?”
Truthfully, you had thought about marriage quite a bit. The mere idea of it scared you. And talking about it scared you even more.
“You sound enthusiastic,” you joked.
“You know what I mean.” He looked down, clearly also nervous for this momentous discussion. Still, he kept his voice light and steady. “I love you. I can’t think of anyone else I’d want to spend the rest of my life with.”
“I’d hope not,” you chuckled. But your attempts at diffusing the tension with humor failed.
He adopted a more serious tone. “YN, I want to marry you,” he said. His eyes looked up to meet yours, and for some reason, you felt your heart drop into your stomach. “I’m not proposing right now, but it’s something we should start thinking and talking about.”
You looked out into the distance and took a shaky breath. Why was this so difficult?
“So, talk to me, amor,” he said.
“You want to marry me?” you asked, your voice small and squeaky.
“Of course I do,” he replied, brushing your hair out of your face. Now there were no barriers between you. “You’re the love of my life.”
You wanted to cry. “I’m scared.”
“Of what?”
“I don’t know. It’s just so…final. What if something goes wrong?”
“Then we work through it, like we always do.” He was right. Your relationship with Franco had certainly had its rocky patches, but he treated you like a queen. You two overcame every obstacle, including your own mind that often worked against you. You often felt like you didn’t deserve someone so patient and kind.
“Things change when you get married.”
“I know,” he said. “I’m not saying any of this lightly. I’ve thought about it a lot.”
Even after years of loving him, it still surprised you whenever Franco told you that he thought of you. You could never get used to existing in his head when you physically weren’t there.
“What do you think about?” you asked, moving closer to him.
He reached his arm around your waist, resting his hand on your hip. “I think about you, in a white dress. We’d be in the church in Argentina.” You knew the one. He’d gone there growing up, and had shown it to you several times when you went to visit his family. “And we’d have a ridiculous party, into the morning,” he said smiling, leaning his head down closer to you. “And, a while after that, maybe a few months or a year or so, you’d be eating for two.”
You bit the inside of your cheek to stop your eyes from watering. “That sounds…”
“Perfect?”
No. You were going to say real. That sounds real. And it scared you.
Truthfully, you could imagine the wedding, and the babies, and the many happy years of being Franco’s wife.
But you could also imagine the distance. The exhaustion. The bitterness.
“Growing up, I never thought I’d get married,” you said, shifting the conversation. “I just… I couldn’t imagine anyone wanting to marry me,” you laughed.
“I do,” he said. The effect of his words weren’t lost on you; the same words he would say to take the vow. “I want to marry you.”
You had told him a long time ago that your insecurities weren’t something he could fix. He remembered that, and he respected it. But still, it always broke his heart when he realized that even after years of loving you, those old wounds refused to heal.
“Why?” you asked. Your head was beginning to hurt from holding in all the tears.
“Why?” he echoed, incredulous at why you’d even need to ask such a ridiculous question. His voice held no malice, though. “Because I love you.”
“Don’t you get tired of this?”
“Of what?”
“Of…me being difficult for no good reason?”
“You’re not being difficult. Marriage is a huge deal, obviously. I don’t want us to rush into it if you’re not ready.”
“What if I’m never ready?”
He sighed. “Then…well, honestly, that would break my heart. I’d want you to work through whatever is holding you back. But I’d be with you every step of the way.”
You looked away into the distance. Part of you wanted to run and disappear in the thick foliage of the Spanish countryside. The other part of you wanted to bury your head in Franco’s chest, finally letting go of all the reservations that had haunted you for years.
You knew Franco. You loved Franco. You trusted Franco.
So why were you still so afraid?
“Mi amor,” he said, gently guiding your head so you had to look at him. “Do you want to get married?” He tilted his head closer to you.
You knew what he was asking. Not if you were ready right now, not if you were scared; but deep down, in your heart of hearts, did you want to marry Franco Colapinto?
“Yes,” you whispered. Just as he didn’t have to explain, neither did you. He knew what you meant; yes, but I’m scared. Yes, but I’m not ready. Yes, but I’m afraid I’ll never be ready.
He brought his lips to yours, gently kissing you as you let the few tears that had been welling up in your eyes finally go. When he pulled back, he wiped them away.
“We don’t have to make a decision now,” he said. “We’ve got time. I want us both to be ready.”
You kissed him again, this time more forceful. There was nothing sexier than a man with emotional intelligence.
He pulled away again to finish his thought. “Just keep thinking on it, okay? We can talk about it as much as you want.”
“Okay,” you said, smiling as he looked at you.
“What?” he asked, his own playful smile dancing across his face.
“You’re so hot when you respect my boundaries.”
He laughed. “Mi amor, that’s the bare minimum.”
“Keep going,” you joked, “I’m so close.”
“Don’t say that,” he said, leaning down to kiss your neck. “I’ll start misbehaving.”
“Maybe I want you to,” he said, sharply inhaling as he gently bit the skin on your neck, sure to leave a mark.
“You’ll be the death of me,” he whispered in your ear, sending shivers down your spine as he nibbled on your earlobe.
“Get me home and show me how horrible I am, then,” you teased, reaching out to touch his waist.
“We don’t even need to get home.” He reached up to hold your neck with one hand as he continued kissing up and down your jaw.
“Here?” you said, darting your eyes around.
“In the car,” he said, his voice already getting breathy.
“No,” you urged. “It’s new.”
“Exactly. We have to break it in, no? Or bless it,” he said. His hands were beginning to roam underneath the hem of your shirt now.
“You’d never forgive me if I messed up the seats.”
“They’re leather, it cleans easy. I can get it detailed.” He stifled your next complaint with a deep kiss. “No one is ever around here. And the windows are tinted,” he whispered into your mouth.
You laughed. “You’re a freak.”
“I’m your freak. And don’t lie, you love it,” he said, snaking his hand down to tease its way under your skirt. “I can tell how much you love it.”
You stopped him before his hand could go any further—after all, you were technically still in public.
“Get in the car, whore,” you joked, before Franco hopped up and nearly sprinted to open the car door and set his seat back as far as it could go.
He sat in the seat and patted his lap. “You joining me?”
You playfully rolled your eyes, getting up to meet your lover at the car and carefully climb onto his lap, occupying his lips with a deep kiss that he moaned into.
“Did you plan this?” you asked.
“Plan what?” he said, a devilish grin across his face.
“Bringing me out to your scenic spot to fuck me in your new sports car?”
“Wasn’t planned at all. I’m a spontaneous man.”
“Mhm. How many other girls did you bring here before we started dating?”
“Less talking, more fucking, yeah?” he said. You probably didn’t want to know the answer. But that was all in the past. Franco was yours—he had been for years now, and he wanted to be yours forever.
There would be time to think about that later. Right now, all you could think about was the beautiful boy sitting beneath you, looking at you as if he needed you as simply as he needed air. You could feel him hardening beneath you.
You shifted your weight to straddle him, grinding down on his length, eliciting a sharp exhale from him.
“You’re so needy today, Franco,” you said as you ran your fingers through his soft curls.
“I’m always needy for you.” He brought his lips back to yours, hungry for the taste of you. His lips trailed down to your jaw and neck. “YN, you don’t know what you do to me…”
“I think I can feel it,” you joked, softly grinding your clothed pussy over the growing bulge in his jeans.
“Don’t tease me,” he begged, roaming his hands up the hem of your blouse.
“But it’s so fun,” you said, leaning over to whisper in his ear. “I love to see you fall apart underneath me.”
“Fuck, YN—”
“Less talking, more fucking, no?” you said, mocking his statement from earlier. You met his mouth in a kiss, and he moved his hands down under your skirt, running up and down the soft skin of your thighs. When he finally teased his fingers over the wet spot that was already growing in your panties, you softly inhaled, showing your desire for him.
“I’m not the only needy one,” he teased, breathing in the smell of your perfume and shampoo, his head buried in your neck.
You softly moaned as he moved your panties to the side and began circling his fingers around your clit.
“Franco, fuck…”
“What happened to all that talk, huh? Or are you too busy trying not to cum on my fingers?”
All you could do was breathe as his fingers found their way inside of you, pumping in and out to prepare you for his cock.
“Don’t try to stop it,” he said, “let go. Cum for me.”
You obeyed, your legs shaking as your walls pulsated on his fingers. You whimpered into his neck, steadying yourself by holding him.
He kissed your cheek, but wasted no time in unzipping his jeans and plunging into you while you rode out the waves of your orgasm. He let out a breathy moan as he felt the sweet warmth of you wrapped around him.
You were overcome with sensation; the burn of his cock stretching you out, the last dregs of pleasure now mixed with the pain, and the burn in your legs from sitting in the same position for too long.
It was all the more motivation to bounce up and down on his cock, finding a steady rhythm as he guided his hands to your hips.
You rested your head next to his, moaning into his ear with every thrust. The small space of the car may be cramped, but you couldn’t help but appreciate the intimacy of the moment. Franco’s eyes were closed in sensual bliss, his breath ragged as you increased your speed.
You wanted to watch him come undone from the sinful pleasure that your pussy brought him.
“YN—” he moaned, his hands digging hard enough into your hips to leave bruises, “Oh, God, YN, you always feel so fucking good. So good for me.”
You whimpered from both the praise and the pleasure. You had to slow down—the fast stamina was too much on your legs, which were now burning from the awkward position you were stuck in.
“I think you were made for me,” Franco whispered. “And I was made for you. See how well we fit together?” He took control, lifting you up as if you were weightless and bouncing you up and down on his own. You yelped at first, then your surprise gave way to bliss as you both chased your release.
But Franco was relentless in his praise. “You’re my fucking soulmate. I wanna fuck you every day for the rest of our lives.”
“Franco, I’m so close—”
“Cum for me, mi amor. Again.” His own voice was strangled with desire, so close to his own peak.
With a high pitched whine, you obeyed, and the heavenly feeling of your walls contracted around him brought your lover to the edge soon after.
And when you did both finish, you held each other, too tired to even move from the uncomfortable position from the car.
Franco was a talker. You always knew that. He loved nothing more than to fill your ears with sweet nothings when you made love. But the context of the conversation that just transpired weighed on you, even with the comfort of Franco’s hands rubbing small circles into your back as you both tried to catch your breath.
“You okay?” he asked, and you murmured in response, unable to form any coherent words in the aftermath of everything. “Let’s get home and we can take a shower, yeah?”
A warm shower sounded heavenly right now. You awkwardly shimmied your way into the passenger seat and took one last look at the view, thankful that the overlook was still deserted. You sighed as you settled in and buckled your seatbelt, relishing the relief of finally being able to stretch your legs.
“Hey,” Franco asked as he readjusted his seat and turned on the car. “Are you okay, really?”
“Yeah,” you said. It was true; you were exhausted, overwhelmed, and hurting, but it was all worth it for him.
He leaned over to kiss your cheek and smiled before putting the car in reverse.
The third item that Franco had to buy was the ring.
Truthfully, the conversation hadn’t gone as smoothly as he would have liked. In his dreams, you'd jumped for joy when he’d broached the subject, and you’d live happily ever after.
But despite his disappointment, he understood your hesitancy. He was just as afraid to ask the question as you were to say yes. He knew that your struggles with self esteem and anxiety were lifelong. He knew all this about you from the very beginning, and he loved you anyway.
Still, it was times like this when it broke his heart that he couldn’t fix it.
It didn’t matter. You’d come around eventually, you always did. And you had been honest when you said you wanted to marry him—there was just a lot of stuff in the way, mentally and emotionally.
So yes, he’d wait a while before he popped the question. But that didn’t mean he had to wait to buy the ring.
He knew the exact one. You had fallen in love with it years ago, when you had worn it in a PR shoot for one of his high profile sponsors. Though time had passed, he still remembered the sadness in your eyes when you had to give it back after the photoshoot. He had vowed to himself that day that he’d earn enough to get you that ring.
And now he finally had.
A few days after your conversation, he found the now faded card that he had stuck in his wallet and called the number. When the same brand rep picked up, he exhaled, letting go of his fear.
“Franco! How nice to hear from you. I was beginning to think we’d scared you away.”
“No,” he laughed. “The opposite, actually.”
“Let me guess. You’re ready for that ring?”
‘How’d you know?”
“I’ve been doing this a long time. When a woman looks at a ring like that, and she’s with a man that truly loves her, it’s just a matter of time.”
He had swiped another ring of yours to get the measurements, and he completed the entire order over the phone on his drive back home from a day of pre-season meetings. He had three months before the beginning of the new season, and he wanted to propose before that so you could start wedding planning once the season started. Would three months be enough time for you to think about it? He didn’t know.
But he couldn’t wait any longer. The giddiness was eating him alive.
You could tell something was amiss, but the idea of a proposal was the last thing on your mind.
Franco was hiding his phone from you. Which meant that Franco was hiding something important from you, and he was doing a horrible job of it.
Your lover was never the type to be quiet or secretive about…anything really. He talked too much. You had to physically restrain him every Christmas from spoiling what he got you weeks in advance. So if there was something that he was truly trying to hide, it was something major.
And it scared you.
The thought that you had been holding back for years finally broke through one night where he put his phone face down at the dinner table after his phone lit up with several notifications.
“Who’s texting you?” you asked, trying to keep your voice innocent despite the rush of dread that was rising in your stomach.
“No one,” he answered, too quickly for your liking. You didn’t respond.
You knew Franco was attractive. Every girl would kill to have him. He was kind, funny, beautiful, and flirtatious. But he was yours. Right?
Franco had never crossed the line before. You trusted him with your life. But something within you just felt deeply, deeply wrong, and it came spilling out later that night when he tried to touch you.
His phone was left on the nightstand, untouched since dinner; his focus was on you, running his hand up and down your side, gently dressing his lips to your shoulder as you faced away from him.
“Not tonight,” you whispered, unable to keep your voice from shaking.
“All you alright, mi amor?” he asked, pulling back your shoulder to make you face him, seeing how you were desperately trying to keep the tears at bay.
“I’m fine,” you said, biting the inside of your cheek.
Even after all your years together, Franco never quite knew when to press on and when to keep quiet when you said those two infamous words. And he didn’t have much time to think, because you rose from the bed and left the room, mumbling about needing a minute to get fresh air.
You stepped onto the back porch and took a deep breath, steadying your heart rate and calming your nerves, if only for a moment. The night air was serene; you felt vile contaminating the peace with your anxiety.
Would this last forever? You couldn’t remember a time when you hadn’t felt this push and pull. You wanted to tell Franco to go, to relieve himself of the burden of your mental illness. You wanted to bottle up every insecurity, every doubt, every negative thought into a vault that you didn’t share with anyone.
But you couldn’t. If Franco left you’d be broken. You couldn’t stop yourself from letting these thoughts and fears control you. In the past, therapy had helped, but you knew this was a weight you’d always have to carry. And that made you miserable.
So yes, maybe it was for the better that Franco move on, find someone better, more stable, and build a life with her.
“Mi amor?”
Franco’s voice broke your hopeless contemplation.
“Talk to me,” he said.
You just shook your head. He must be so tired of reassuring you, endlessly, knowing that it didn’t help one bit.
“YN,” he urged, “you know I don’t like it when you try to shoulder everything alone.”
“I’m sorry,” you said. That was all you could say. “I’m sorry that I’m like this.”
“Like what?”
“Impossible.”
“What do you mean?”
“You know what I mean. We have the same conversation over and over again. Don’t you get tired of it? Of having to reassure me and it never helping? Of me crying over every little thing? Franco, I’m a mess!”
“YN…” he sighed, “When have I ever said any of that?”
He was right. He had never expressed any frustration regarding your mental struggles. He had always been there when you needed him.
“I’m sorry.”
“Have you just been up in your head, or did something happen?”
You contemplated lying, but you knew better. “You set your phone face down at dinner.”
“I— did you think I was…?”
“It’s not you, Franco. It’s never you. That’s the worst part. You have to deal with all of this and it’s not your fault at all,” you said, not even allowing him to say aloud what you both knew was true.
Franco took a deep breath. “YN,” he said, calmly, “let’s go back inside and go through my phone.”
“No—”
“Yes,” he commanded. “I want you to be 100% confident that I love you and only you.”
“Franco—”
“Let’s go.”
He had a firmness in his voice that only made your anxiety worse, and immediately you felt horrible for even insinuating anything to the opposite. But he was your rock of reason in times like these when your anxiety took over, and so you followed his command, unlocking his phone when he handed it to you.
As expected, there was no incriminating evidence, just far too many unopened emails and messages left on delivered. Even his recently deleted texts showed nothing.
The buzzing that you had been so afraid of turning out to be…emails from a jewelry company?
“I ordered a custom necklace for your birthday,” Franco explained. “They’ve been so difficult, though. They lost the order and then sent me the wrong thing. It’s been hell.”
You handed back the phone with your head hung low, ashamed. “I’m sorry I ruined the surprise.”
“You know I would have ruined it beforehand anyway,” he said. “I’m not upset at you.”
“You should be. You deserve someone who trusts you.”
“You do trust me,” he said, “I know you do. It’s not you that’s saying this.”
Fuck. Franco really did know you too well.
“You know why I stay with you, even with all this?” You looked up at him, curious for the answer. He had never been this direct before. He continued, “Well, first of all, because I love you. But even during times when I’m frustrated, I remember everything we’ve been through, when you forgave me and were there for me when I didn’t deserve it. I was so close to losing you and it terrified me.”
Once again, your eyes were watering. He said, “I promised myself that if you really gave me a chance, I’d never forget it. I’d be there for you and be the best boyfriend I could be. Because…” he paused, searching for the right words, “I know that some of why you feel these things is because of how I acted in the past. I’ve done my best to make it right, but some things never leave you.”
“When did you become so damn wise?” you said, laughing through the tears as he smiled and wiped them away.
“You bring out the best in me.”
The conversation was laid to rest then. Franco held you until you fell asleep, safe in his arms. As he heard your soft breaths even out, he grabbed his phone and frantically searched for a necklace to buy to cover his lie.
He hated lying to you, but in this case, what else was he to do?
The necklace and the ring arrived a few weeks later, right before you all were scheduled to take a flight to Buenos Aires to spend the rest of the break with his family.
But he had a plan. The break in Buenos Aires would be one to remember—for your “birthday” he was also flying out your friends and family for a few days. He had the whole idea plotted out, with help from many others, to plan a surprise karting birthday celebration, with all your loved ones there. Then, he would propose.
It seemed so perfect—surrounded by all your loved ones, doing a fun activity, the perfect balance between public and private. He knew you’d love it. He knew you’d say yes.
He was giddy as he carefully packed the two jewelry boxes in his luggage, surrounded by clothes for safe keeping.
And as the day of the birthday party came closer and closer, he could barely hold in his excitement. Everyone knew but you; he had colluded with every guest, telling them his plan and getting their blessing to finally ask you to spend the rest of your life with him.
Everything was perfect. The day before, you parents and friends arrived, and Franco told you everything but the grand reveal.
He gave you the present, a beautiful necklace that complimented your tastes perfectly. You split a bottle of wine amongst loved ones, and your parents brought out their own gift: a photo album of pictures that they’d never been able to show Franco.
You cringed at the embarrassing baby photos and records of bad middle school haircuts, but you couldn’t help the tipsy smile on your face. You leaned your head on Franco’s shoulder as he flipped through the pages.
Franco’s mother got out her own photo albums, showing picture after picture of him as a baby, his blonde curls and toothy grin smiling from ear to ear.
“You were such a cute baby,” you giggled, and he blushed.
“Were? I’m still a cute baby,” he joked, kissing you on the cheek.  You scrunched your nose and smiled.
You were so in love with this man that it hurt.
That night, when you all retired to your room, he rubbed your back, enjoying the simple quiet between you two.
“I love you,” you said to him out of the blue. He smiled; he said those words often, and you always said them back, but it was rarer, more meaningful, for you to say them unprompted.
“But it’s not fair. You were a cute baby and you’re cute now. You can’t have both,” you giggled.
“We’d make cute babies,” he teased, and you blushed.
“You trying to find out?” you responded, the alcohol in your veins giving you more boldness.
“Not when you’re this tipsy,” he said. “Besides, I need to put a ring on your finger first.”
At the mention of marriage, you sobered up quickly. You hadn’t really been thinking about that conversation you’d had back in Spain—in fact, every time you thought about it, it just made you more anxious, so it had the opposite effect of you actively avoiding it.
Of course, you were still scared. You loved Franco more than words could say, and that was the problem—it was so good that eventually, it would have to not be good. It was a backwards logic, yes, you had convinced yourself that at some point, things would only be able to go down.
You didn’t want to lose this beautiful thing you had created. But Franco had said he wasn’t planning to propose any time soon, right? In your mind, you still had plenty of time.
But Franco did not, and the next morning was chaos.
His phone was blowing up with last minute organizing and words of encouragement from your friends and family in the proposal plan group chat. He was sweating bullets, constantly checking his pockets before you all left for the kart track to make sure that yes, he had the ring. He contemplated putting it in his bag instead, but he didn’t want to lose it, so he ultimately settled on his pockets.
He knew that he needed to stop checking them or else you’d notice and ask. You were always observant, in that way.
But every time he sat down, the stupid box kept falling out of his shorts. The pockets were too small. He’d just have to check one last time before he left the house and be careful. Yes, everything was going to go according to plan.
And as you all arrived and he changed into his race suit quickly, all he could think about was the speech he had tried to memorize. You were a woman who appreciated words; he wanted to express how you made him feel, but in his head, he kept stumbling over them.
YN, you make me so happy. No, too simple.
YN, will you make me the happiest man in the world? No, too cliche.
YN, I never knew happiness until I saw your smile. No, too melodramatic.
He’d have to figure out the words as he said them. For now, he’d just focus on enjoying the moment with you.
And that wasn’t hard; you were as giddy as a child as you sped around the track, spinning out and pushing the poor kart to go faster and faster.
Franco had arranged a tournament of sorts; of course, he had spoken with everyone beforehand to rig you as the winner.
On your end, you knew everyone was letting you win. You were awful at karting. But it was your birthday event, after all. You didn’t care, you were having fun.
It came down to the “championship” battle: you versus Franco. Of course, you knew your boyfriend would let you win, as he always did, but you loved the rush of adrenaline as the wind whipped past you anyway. You couldn’t stop smiling as you crossed the finish line and took off your helmet, flipping your hair out.
You heard Franco stop his car behind you and get out, too.
“I can’t believe YN won!” Franco’s mother said, smiling wide.
“Thank you all for so graciously giving me that win,” you joked, looking to all your family and friends circled round, cheering for you. Franco was behind you still. You almost turned to him, but his mother interrupted. “Let me take a picture!”
This was the moment. All he had to do was take the ring out of his pocket and get down on one knee.
He reached in his pocket and pulled out… nothing.
His pockets were empty.
He looked back at his father, the fear of God in his eyes, and patted his empty pockets. No one said a word.
His mother, now done with taking the picture, leaned over to give you a hug. She sent a death glare to Franco over your shoulder, but still gave him the time to sprint back to the locker room to try and find the goddamn thing.
He ran faster than his F1 car could drive, cursing under his breath at how stupid he could be. He could still save this, though.
He found his bag and shook out the contents, frantically searching, until finally, at the bottom of the bag, he saw the box. He must have stuck it there while changing and forgot about it.
He let out a breath with enough power to shake the entire building. He opened the box to get a quick glance just to make sure everything was okay.
Except, everything wasn’t. There was no ring in the box.
He had grabbed the empty necklace box.
Knowing you were far enough away to not hear him, he sweared very, very loudly. Unbeknownst to Franco, his father had followed him back to the locker room.
“Did you find it, mijo?”
“I brought the wrong box,” he said, “This is for the necklace.”
His father sighed. “Franco…”
“I know, I know.”
“We can still fix this. Give her the ring at dinner!”
“I guess I’ll have to,” Franco said. He had never been more disappointed in himself. He had ruined everything.
“Hey,” his father said, “chin up. You’ve still got this. The ring will be the perfect end to the perfect day, okay?”
“Okay,” he said, still not entirely convinced. But you would be wondering where he went soon; he couldn’t stay and mope too long.
His father left him to go relay the information to the rest of the group. Franco took a few deep breaths as he changed, mentally readying himself to see you again. He put on a smile as he saw you waiting for him outside the track with the others.
“So, we’ll all head back and get ready, then meet for dinner tonight?” his mother said.
“Sounds good,” Franco answered, wrapping his arm around you as he walked you back to the car.
Thankfully, when you got back to his parent’s house, you immediately wanted to take a shower and wash your hair, giving him time to search the entire room. Which he did, from top to bottom, and he still couldn’t find the ring.
It was just…gone. He had gone through every compartment of his suitcase, every pocket in his clothes, every hiding space. Still, it was nowhere to be found.
His parents even helped him look, carefully parsing through every possible place until it was too late. You were nearly ready for dinner, and they all had to rush to get ready to make it to the restaurant in time for the reservation.
Franco texted the groupchat the horrible news—he had fucked up. He had lost the ring. There would be no proposal.
Kind words flooded his phone, but they meant nothing to the depressed Argentine. He had planned this out so perfectly; how did it end so badly?
And the worst part? He couldn’t even tell you.
The atmosphere at dinner was more somber than usual. His sister had bought a bottle of nice champagne that would now have to go unopened. He would just have to propose some other time.
That’s what he reminded himself, every time the thought came up and threatened to choke him. Maybe next time he would fly his family out to Spain instead. He wasn’t in any rush. And you’d never have to know how badly he fumbled.
Well, while you didn’t know the details, you could tell something was up. You mentioned it to Franco on the way home.
“Is something wrong?” you asked, and Franco cringed internally. He was always bad about hiding his emotions.
“No, I’m fine,” he answered.
“Well, everyone at dinner just seemed…off.”
“Probably just tired.”
You just hummed to yourself, refusing to allow your thoughts to wander any further. You, too, were tired. When you got back to the house, you both started to get undressed, taking off your fancy heels and jewelry.
You took off your necklace—the beautiful gift that Franco had given you, that you’d now treasure forever—but the box wasn’t on the nightstand where you had left it yesterday.
“Franco, have you seen my necklace box?” you asked from the bedroom. He was in the bathroom washing his face, and only barely heard you over the running of water. The mention of the box just made the whole night worse.
“Yeah, it’s in my bag,” he said, and you raised an eyebrow. How had your necklace box ended up there?
You leaned down to his bag, rustling around until you found the familiar box, though it was heavier than you remembered.
When you opened it, you were nearly blinded by the glint of a beautiful diamond engagement ring.
It was familiar; the same ring you had fallen in love with years ago. And it was in Franco’s bag. He had…bought you an engagement ring.
He was going to propose.
You could feel your heart rate increasing by the second. But you weren’t ready. You had only talked about it a few weeks ago. You were scared.
It was okay, though. It was okay. You would just put the ring back. You’d find a way to hint to him that it wasn’t the right time. You could just fake it. He’d never have to—
“YN?”
You looked up at Franco’s face, widened with shock. You didn’t respond.
“Where did you find that?”
“In your bag.” Your voice was barely above a whisper.
“I—” Franco was too stunned to speak. You quickly closed the box and put it back in the bag.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t see anything. This never happened,” you said, your voice rapidly talking without even thinking. You got up to leave the room, too anxious to stay seated, talking to yourself even after you were out of earshot of your lover.
Franco sat on the bed and sighed. Now he had majorly fucked up. First of all, how had no one found the ring in his bag, even after 3 people looked in there? And second of all, how did you find it?
But that wasn’t the biggest issue anymore. His plan had already been ruined, but he knew by the look on your face that your surprise was not a good one. He saw that fear that nestled itself into every crevice of your expression.
You weren’t happy to find that ring. Not because it had ruined the surprise element—you just didn’t want him to propose.
He now had two options. He could do what he knew you’d want: act as if nothing ever happened and never broach the subject of marriage for several years to come, allowing you to shove away all those scary feelings until you’d deluded yourself into thinking you were over it.
Or, he could do what he needed to do, and talk to you.
He took a deep breath and followed you outside.
You were sitting on the back porch. Not crying, just quiet, looking out into the backyard. When Franco sat next to you, you didn’t say anything. He reached out to grab your hand, and you let him, softly admiring how he curled his thumb around your palm in soothing circles.
“The plan,” he began, “was to ask you today. At the karting track. But I brought the wrong box.” He softly smiled at the absurdity of it. “When you were getting ready we were all frantically looking for it. I don’t know how we missed it.”
You just hummed in response, unsure of what to say. You needed to be honest. You needed to say the difficult things.
You began, though your voice felt choked. “Franco, if you would have asked me today, I would have said no.” You felt his hand tense up. “I mean, I would have said yes, because everyone was there. But…”
You trailed off, your words fleeing from you now.
“I don’t understand,” Franco confessed. “We’re happy. You’re happy with me, aren’t you?”
“I am.”
“Then why don’t you want to marry me?” His voice dripped with sadness, and all you wanted to do was hold him. You turned your head to face him, and the deep sorrow in his eyes nearly brought you to tears.
“I do want to. I just…”
“I’ve done everything I can to be good to you. I’ve tried to always be there. I know I’m not perfect, but—”
“It’s not you, Franco. It was never you.”
“Then why? What can I do?” His voice cracked, seeping with hopelessness and frustration. “If it’s not because of me, then what am I supposed to do?”
You got up. “Come here,” you said, and led him to the living room. The home was quiet; his parents were asleep, and the vast emptiness of the home was eerie.
You grabbed the photo album that your parents had given you, and sat down on the couch, motioning for Franco to sit next to you.
You opened it to a picture of you at your 4th birthday party. In the photo, you grimaced though the uncomfortable sensation of a plastic party hat. “Do you see her?” you asked him. He nodded.
“I remember feeling like this when I was that little. This…fear. I desperately wanted friends but was too afraid to talk to anyone.”
You flipped to the next page, pointing to a photo of you sitting alone in a park, a forced smile across your face. “What do you notice about this picture?” you asked him.
Franco leaned in closer to look. “I don’t know,” he said.
“I’m alone. See all the other kids in the background?”
You kept flipping until you found the first photo of you when Franco knew you. You were fifteen, smack in the middle of your awkward teenage years, in the stands at one of his races.
“I remember that,” he said.
“That’s me, spending time with my first real friend,” you said. “I didn’t know it yet, but I had a huge crush on him,” you joked.
“He was going to ask you to marry him today. And you just told him you would have said no.”
“I know,” you said, trying to be gentle with your tone. “But what I’m trying to say is that you’re not just asking me. You’re asking her. And she feels so alone, and she’s scared to trust anyone.”
Franco sat with the thought for a moment, before getting up to grab his own photo book. He opened it to the first page, and pointed to a photo of him as a toddler, wrapped in a scarf, toothy grin spread wide.
“And that’s who asked you.”
You felt a knot of emotion in your stomach break. All you wanted was to cry.
“This goes both ways, YN,” Franco continued. “I understand that you’re scared. But I can’t fix that fear. Only you can.”
The dam broke, your tears flooding forth. He was right. So you told him.
“You’re right. I’m sorry,” you said, and he wrapped his arm around you, rubbing your back through the tears.
“I’m not perfect either. I shouldn’t have rushed it, I was just excited.”
“Don’t apologize for being excited to propose,” you laughed through your tears. “I should probably go back to therapy.”
“If you think that’ll help,” he said.
“It will,” you sniffled. “I just… I’ve been so afraid that I’ve been ignoring all the signs. I should have seen this coming. You’re never that excited to let me beat you in karting.”
He smiled at your banter. You continued, “But really, you’re right. I’ve just been avoiding this because I’m scared, getting up in my head. I just feel so happy and that scares me, because at some point it has to fall apart, right? You’re never happy forever.”
“You’re not unhappy forever, either. Of course we’d have rough spots. But that’s the beauty of marriage,” he said, “you vow to be there for each other through it all.”
“How did I get so lucky to have you?” you asked, meeting his gaze.
His eyes were full of compassion and love. “I’m the lucky one.” He leaned down to kiss you.
You didn’t really believe him. You still didn’t understand how someone so perfect could love you, someone so…broken. But one day you would. You had to.
The next year was difficult. You began your healing journey again—a journey you were convinced you’d be on your entire life. But you’d do it for him, and for you.
And slowly, bit by bit, the wounds began to heal.
It wasn’t linear. With Franco’s new contract, he had lots of attention and responsibilities. He was away from home more. He was tired, stressed, more short-tempered. There were arguments. Some days it felt like you took one step forward and two steps back.
But you made it through. For every argument there was an honest conversation. For every night away there was a sweet gesture or text message to remind you that he still loved you, and from it grew a solid, blooming trust. For every mistake—on both ends—there was an apology and a commitment to be better. For every night of tears, there was a night of laughter with the man you loved most in the world.
And by the end of the season, you and the relationship were stronger than ever.
Of course, things weren’t perfect. But the fear that had once held you hostage was an adversary you knew you could overcome.
Franco kept the ring in his nightstand. You had found it again one day while cleaning. It wasn’t really hidden, as if to say, we’ll get to this later. It was no secret now.  You just put it back in its place and smiled, going on about your day.
But Franco had been giving the proposal much thought. He decided against inviting anyone again, wanting it to be a tender moment of vulnerability between you and him.
No, he wanted this time to be simple. Honest.
He just hoped you were ready.
A few weeks before the beginning of the next season, he took you out to the place where all this had begun; the outlook in the countryside, where he first told you that he wanted to marry you.
This time, he double and triple checked to make sure the ring was there in his pocket.
The sun was setting over the Spanish countryside, painting the sky rich shades of orange and yellow. The air had cooled with the impending coming of night.
He opened your car door and set up a blanket on the ground, where you sat and he laid his head in your lap, letting your fingers run through his hair as a way to calm his nerves.
He took a deep breath as he sat up, and you knew what was coming. Again, he had rehearsed a speech, but almost instantly forgot it the second he opened his mouth.
“YN,” he began, looking you directly in the eyes, “I… I love you. So much. More than words can say.” He was nervous, swallowing before he continued, letting his eyes wander off to the picturesque view. But he had more important things to be looking at.
“I can’t imagine a version of my life without you in it. I grew up with you. I want to grow old with you. You’ve made me into the best version of myself. We’ve gone through so many things and come out on the other side so much stronger. And I want this,” he said, reaching out to wipe away the happy tears that now flowed down your cheeks. “I want to be with you. Even though we’re both imperfect, even though we both have our problems to work through, YN, I want to do this with you, forever. I want to fall asleep next to you and wake up next to you. I want to have children and grandchildren with you. I…” he trailed off, not knowing how to finally say what he really wanted to say.
You smiled through the tears. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the ring, flipping it open and showing it to you.
“Marry me,” he whispered.
Your smile widened. “Yes,” you answered. “Yes.”
He kissed you with a fervent passion. When he pulled away, his smile couldn’t be contained.
“She said yes!” he cried out, though you both were alone. “I did it! She said yes!” You laughed at his antics.
In a few weeks, you’d have the official photo shoot where he got down on one knee. You’d show the world the carefully constructed version that was all they got to see.
But this was real. And maybe it was imperfect; maybe he hadn’t really asked, more instructed, and maybe he hadn’t gotten down on one knee, and maybe, yes, you had found the ring beforehand.
But this was real. In all the ups and downs, the hurt and healing, this love you shared with your now fiance was real. The world didn’t get to see that.
And maybe that fear was still within you. It was smaller now. And when you had seen that shine of the ring, maybe you had felt it rise within you again. But you knew now that it was just a feeling, something you could control. You didn’t have to ignore it or let it reign you. It was just there.
It wasn't real though. And this was. The cold metal of the ring slid onto your finger. The feeling of Franco’s lips on yours. The strain in your face muscles from all the smiling. His hand around your waist, pulling you closer as the sun dipped below the sky, leaving you and your lover alone in the dark—yes, this was real.
And this was yours; he was yours.
For the first time in a long time, you knew you had nothing to fear.

⸺ SOFT HANDS roamed around (name)’s bare torso as his mouth collided into niragi’s. cringing at the feeling of mixed warm saliva as their tongues tied together like string, wrists caught in niragi’s grip ignoring the uncomfortable feeling of his head being pressed against the hard wall.
this was starting to become a regular occurrence between the two. (name) doesn’t remember how this “relationship” started in the first place, the only thing that passed in his mind were memories of him being fucked dumb over and over again. the embrace of fuzziness entering his brain at every waking feeling of niragi and his touch, parts of his body were still painted with hickies and faded teeth marks.
tears entered his eyes as niragi shoved his tongue farther down his throat, gagging as he pushed him away struggling to catch his breath when multiple coughs exited his throat. niragi tisked wiping at his bottom lip to tear off any extra saliva that wet it, “too rough?”
he shook his head repeatedly, “no, no—“ (name) coughed bringing his hand up to soothe at his adams apple, “it’s just… you always forget i don’t have the best gag reflex, it’s almost like you’re starting to do this on purpose?”
a slight laugh left niragi, the sound of him seething followed after putting his hands to rest inside his pockets, “so? if that matters so much to you.. maybe i’ll just go back to kanon, i don’t recall her ever complaining.”
(name) whipped his eyes towards the man, small glares were sent his way as he straightened his back, “no—no, you wouldn’t…” he whined, “you told me i was better than her, that she couldn’t do anything that i did—niragi please…don’t joke about stuff like that!” niragi raised an eyebrow as his eyes darkened, a smirk washed over his face as he smashed his lips back onto (name)’s, loud pecks filled the claustrophobic closet.
niragi dragged his hands down to rest ontop of the others waistband, pulling off abruptly watching as (name) followed after his lips for another kiss, “then quit talking, you’re body can already tell me what it needs.”
(name) zipped his lips into a thin line, nodding his head so much to the point of almost giving himself whiplash. the signals made niragi tug down (name)’s pants, cold air spreading goosebumps around his skin once he felt his legs being exposed.
the air around them increased in its temperature with all of their movements. muffled moans and whimpers echoed around the duo. aroused cries filled niragi’s ears, his puffed lips pressed fresh love bites onto any fading ones that were on (name)’s skin. his gaze was focused onto the slightly ajar door that let light into the dark area. the thought of someone catching the two sent heat to his core, images of his bitchy girlfriend standing there rushed through his head. hoping that this event would finally make her consider breaking things off.
thinking of her running after him after he went missing for an entire hour only to find him fucking someone better than he ever did with her. her shocked facial expression as she caught him playing with his fucktoy, the quiet boy that only hung around with one person everyday. the boy that always stuck to himself and never once involved himself in bigger crowds, preventing any type of attention being drawn to him.
maybe that’s why niragi always used him so much? the less popular the person, the less anyone will act suspicious of them when they disappear for multiple times on the regular. sounded like a solid plan to him, besides its not like he actually cared about (name). all of those missed calls on his phone from his number, the degrading things he’d say but smooth over once he flashed his pretty face in (name)’s vision.
finding someone like him wasn’t so easy, it was hard to have someone as gorgeous like niragi. always telling him he should be grateful that he even gave him a chance, if not then he would’ve probably been spending his weekends drowsed on his bed. staring at nothing but his wall and leaving his empty phone deserted somewhere, begging for at least one person to text him to hang out. but no worries about that anymore, it’s a good thing niragi was only just a few calls away. what a hero, am i right?
eyes connecting with someone elses broke him out of his drunken daze. a figure stood there in the gap, some girl with long light brown hair and blunt bangs had her eyes wide at the scene. the phone in her hand vibrated in her grasp as the air she was breathing in stopped, seeing someone like this was definitely an interesting sight to behold.
her neck crained itself forward, forcing her numb legs to move as she walked away. hoping the graphic image of two people fucking would whisp away from her mind as quick as possible.
a smirk plastered itself on niragi’s lips, not letting the slight intrusion to prevent him from his actions on (name)’s body, continuing his work as he quickened the pace of his movements. well, maybe it wasn’t the person he was expecting… but, at least he got what he wanted in a way.
Tumblr media
“you have to be careful with someone like him.”
(name) steered his eyes to the girl sat behind him, his one and only friend yuna. a worried look was on her face as she stared at him. the phone in his hand was buzzing, she knew exactly who he was trying to call. “you never know what’s gonna happen when you’re little ordeals get exposed, he’s not someone you can trust.”
he rolled his eyes rubbing his thumb against niragi’s contact again once it had gone to voicemail for the twelfth time now. the sound was starting to irritate yuna’s eardrums as she crossed her arms against her chest, “you don’t know what you’re talking about yun. he’s a nice guy, really, you just don’t know him like i do.”
the affection in his voice didn’t go unnoticed by her as she stood up. her rough hand grabbed his arm as irritation glossed over her eyes, “no, you don’t know what you’re talking about. it’s bad enough that i caught you doing it in a supply closet but—“ the event she caught yesterday afternoon made itself apparent in her head again. catching her best friend getting fucked wasn’t something she’d ever thought she’d have to witness with her own two eyes, but him getting fucked by suguru niragi was what made her more worried than anything.
“what’ll happen once his girlfriend finds out, huh? the power she has here can ruin your reputation in an instant. being involved with niragi is one thing but thinking that he’s doing this out of love for you is another. (name) i beg, open your eyes, please. this won’t end well i can assure you.” her monologue went empty as he furrowed his brows, shaking his bicep away from her grasp his face filled with nothing but anger.
“you’re wrong.” he spat, looking down back to the screen of his device as he stared at all the missed calls that flooded his phone, “he cares about me… i know he does. he just—doesn’t know how to express it well.”
yuna scoffed at him, hearing the sounds of chatter in the courtyard filling her hearing. ears picking up a distinctive voice before grabbing (name)’s arm once again, “does he?” she said dragging him over to the edge of the balcony they hung around in. pointing her index finger to one of the people infront of them. niragi stood there, arm wrapped around his so-called girlfriend, flaunting her around as he made conversation with a peer. the two laughing watching as she blushed and waved her hand at something he said.
“someone who ‘cares’ about you, doesn’t go around showing off another girl and ignoring all of your messages.” she says enhancing the venom in all of her words, “he’s not yours (name), and you’re not his. so stop treating him like he is and finally realize what’s going on infront of you.”
a stoic expression was painted on (name)’s face. his vision felt blurry, the sensation of tears was threatening to spill out as he bit his lip. watching as kanon pressed kisses to his cheek and the way her friend cooed at them, seeing her mouth ‘you two are so cute together!’ only made it worse for him.
he knew niragi would never let him do the same thing to him, a toy is what he was to him. one that he would throw out once he got bored with him. there was nothing romantic that would ever come out of their relationship, nothing. they were fuck buddies, thats it. there would never be anything more or less than that. (name) refused to acknowledge this at his own expense, getting rid of someone who made him feel wanted for once in his life didn’t sit right with him.
“pick who you wanna love (name). it’s either you or niragi.” yuna’s sentence imprinted onto him, moving her figure to grab the bag that sat on the bench a few feet away from them before walking away. her hand trudging through her hair as she left him with his thoughts, the faint feeling of a vein popping itched at her forehead.
(name) stood flat against the railing, hands shaking. the grip on his phone was loosening as he bore holes into niragi’s head, eye twitching. pressing the sides of his phone to turn it on, the photo he saved as his wallpaper of the two of them was mocking him the moment he grazed it with his eyes. one he had taken the morning after one of their sessions, (name) snuck a picture of niragi sleeping on his side as he leaned against him. the dumb smile that was molded onto his face didn’t help how he was feeling, the sense of stupidity was drowning him. “he loves me, he just.. doesn’t know how to express it...”
how long was he gonna keep telling himself that? he knew that not everybody was worthy of feeling love. especially, someone that was like him.

Stay for Dinner (Stay Forever)
ao3 link
Steve had never been more scared in his life.
He’d been through some things, he thought. Things that changed you as a person, probably. But now he understands why humans are apex predators.
Because he’s being hunted.
He’d started following Steve a few blocks back. He doesn’t have anything on him, pepper spray or a knife. He has keys and fear on his side.
“Stupid, stupid, stupid,” he chastises himself, blinking tears away and speeding up the tiniest bit. He sees, in the reflection of shop windows across the street, he’s matching Steve’s pace.
Fuck.
He doesn’t know what to do, doesn’t know who to ask for help, when he suddenly sees someone.
He’s an Alpha, Steve can tell right away, even though he’s not as strong-looking as other Alphas. He’s intimidating enough, all leather and chains and wild hair and tattoos, and Steve doesn’t know much about this punk kind of community, but he knows it’s a community, knows this is the safest person he’s gonna find.
He speeds up the tiniest bit more, is practically jogging when he reaches the man. “Baby!” He exclaims, throwing his arms around the man.
The man startles, but seems to catch on quickly, wrapping his own arms around Steve’s waist. “Hey, darlin’,” he says happily, loud enough it carries. “How was your day?”
“Alright,” Steve admits, letting out a little chuckle full of stress.
“Yeah? What made it just alright?” He questions, stepping back to wrap his arm loosely around Steve’s waist, the barest hint of pressure to suggest they keep walking the direction Steve was heading.
Steve thinks, silently, he could fall in love with this man. He’s halfway there based on scent alone.
“Oh, you know.” He keeps his tone light, pretends to look at the man holding him. Actually looks past him, to more shop windows. The man who was following him disappears down a side street, and Steve feels so relieved he nearly collapses.
“Oh, hell,” he breathes out, stepping back and gusting out a sigh. “I’m so sorry, fuck, he was- he was following me, and I wasn’t sure what to do-”
The alpha shushes him. “Hey, hey, hey, you’re okay. I get it, I saw him, and hey, I’ve definitely been in worse situations than a pretty omega throwing themself at me.” His eyes twinkle, inviting Steve in on the joke.
He chuckles a little. “Seriously, thank you so much.” He puts a hand on his chest. His hand is still shaking. “I don’t think I’ve ever been that scared.”
“It’s okay,” he soothes. “I don’t know that either of us want you going anywhere alone right now, though. Do you have someone you can call? I’m sure we can pop into any of these places and you could ask to use their phone.”
Steve feels a whine build in his throat. “I don’t- don’t have anyone, I’m new here, my roommate is my absolute best friend in the world but she’s busy, and anyways she’s half an hour away, and-” his breath catches on the whine, brings it out on the exhale.
“Hey, you’re okay,” he promises. “Would it be okay if I came with you? Or is there a different designation or gender you’d rather escort you? I’m sure we could find someone.”
“No, it’s-” Steve takes a couple of deep breaths. Wills his voice to stop shaking. “It’s fine, you can- if you’re not busy-”
“I’m not,” he confirms. “And I’d love to walk you wherever you’re going.” He pulls back and extends a hand, grinning. “I’m Eddie.”
“Steve,” he gusts out, grasping Eddie’s hand and shaking it. “Seriously, you don’t know how much I appreciate this.”
“It’s fine,” Eddie promises. “My best friend in the entire world is an omega. She’s used me to get away from Alpha creeps so many times, I’ve lost count.” He puts a hand on his chest, bows his head. “And I’d like to formally apologize on behalf of Alphas everywhere. I promise we’re not all creepy knotheads.”
Steve giggles. “I believe you,” he promises. “Thank you. Again. And… thank you for making me feel like it’s okay.”
“It is okay,” Eddie tells him immediately. “That guy’s a real creep, and if I ever see him again, I’m probably just gonna punch him in the face. No words, not a hey, how’re you doing, just bam! Right in the schnoz.”
Steve giggles again. “I’d pay to see that.”
Eddie pouts at him, offers his arm as they continue walking. “You don’t think I could take him? I know I’m scrawny but I’m hiding some muscle, okay, I- well, I was gonna say I work out, but that would be a lie. The most working out I do is moving amps, setting up for a show.”
“You work for a band? Or- a venue, or something?”
“You could say that,” Eddie agrees, letting go of Steve to hop a couple steps in front of him and bow. “You are looking at the frontman of heavy metal band Corroded Coffin.”
“Oh,” Steve says, nonplussed, “I thought you were punk.”
“Punk?” Eddie exclaims. “An affront to my culture! An affront to metalheads everywhere! An affront to me!” He mimes stabbing himself in the heart, dropping in a heap to the pavement.
It makes Steve laugh as he nudges Eddie’s knee with his toe. “Eddie? Oh no, he’s dead. Guess I’ll have to go on alone, with no one to protect me.”
“And I’m revived!” Eddie exclaims, jumping to his feet. His hair falls in his face, and he spits it out of his mouth as he swipes wildly at it.
Steve laughs, moves in closer to help. He meticulously separates Eddie’s bangs from the rest of his hair, then steps back with a light flush dusting his cheeks, realizing how close they were. “There,” he murmurs.
“My hero,” Eddie intones, sweeping low into a bow again before standing straight up and once again offering Steve his arm.
He accepts, and they walk on together.
His apartment isn’t too far, only about fifteen minutes, and it seems much shorter than usual because of the easy conversation flowing. When they get to Steve’s apartment, he sees Robin’s car and grins at Eddie, motioning him inside. “Rob,” he calls, “I brought my boyfriend!”
She bursts out of her room. “Steve!” She yells, pulling him into a hug. She pulls back to study them. “You’ve never met this man before, you slut,” she tells him affectionately. “Hi, Robin Buckley, who are you?” She thrusts a hand Eddie’s direction.
He grins and shakes. “Eddie Munson, at your service.”
“Hi,” she agrees, then taps Steve rapidly on his shoulder. “Explain. Why do you scent stressed?” She presses her nose into his neck. “It’s old but still there. What happened, Dingus?”
“I was being followed,” he tells her.
“A creepy knothead variety of our designation,” Eddie explains.
“I saw Eddie and he was the first person who looked… safe.”
“He jumped me,” Eddie agrees, smirking at Steve. “Not really beating the slut allegation, sweetheart.”
“Oh, shut up,” Steve tells him, laughing.
“I noticed what was happening,” Eddie continues. “Played along. Creep Alpha left, but-”
“I didn’t want to be alone,” Steve admits. “And I knew you were busy, and way far out, and we don’t know anyone else in this godforsaken city.”
“Now you do,” Eddie tells him.
“Now I do,” Steve agrees softly.
“Eddie Munson,” Robin murmurs, studying him with narrowed eyes. “Why do I know that name?”
“Um,” Eddie says, “are you into metal? I’m in a band.”
Robin snaps her fingers at him, expression brightening. “Corroded Coffin!”
Eddie’s eyes sparkle. “Holy shit, yes! Have you seen us?”
“Oh, no,” Robin laughs. “Not really my scene. But there’s this pup we knows who’s absolutely obsessed. Never shuts up about you.”
Steve frowns. “Dustin?”
“Yeah, Dingus.”
“But I thought he was always going on about the other band.”
“Ah, yes, because as we all know, you can only ever like one band at a time.” She hits him with an extremely judgy expression. “Do you listen when your child talks?”
“Hey, if he’s mine he’s yours, and you know I don’t.”
“Um,” Eddie says, “child?”
“Not actually mine,” Steve reiterates. “But also basically yeah. And yes, he’s obsessed.”
A slow grin creeps across Eddie’s face. “In that case, do you want to do the funniest thing ever?”
Steve’s eyes spark as a manic grin makes its way onto Robin’s lips. “Oh, hell yeah,” Steve agrees.
They work out the plan: invite Dustin over, have Eddie be the one to open the door.
“Hey, little dude,” Steve says into the phone. “You busy for the next little bit?”
“Uh,” Dustin says, sounding distracted, “yeah? I’ve got a test due tonight, a paper due Friday, and then it’s prep for finals. Why?”
“Just, uh. Wanted to see if you wanted to come over,” Steve says weakly. “But if you’re busy-”
“Rain check,” Dustin decides. “Three weeks from Friday?”
Eddie, who’s standing close enough to hear, shrugs and nods at Steve’s questioning look. “Sure, bud,” Steve tells him. “Three weeks from Friday.”
“Okay, great,” Dustin says. “See you!” And hangs up.
Steve pouts at the phone for a second. “No respect,” he sighs.
“Aw, Stevie,” Eddie playfully pouts, “I’m sure your pup loves you.”
“Yeah, yeah.” Steve rolls his eyes, but smiles at Eddie.
“What does the rest of your day look like?”
“I do believe the rest of my day depends entirely on what you’re planning with me.” He leans against the wall, shoulders curved toward Steve, who smiles rather bashfully.
“Would you like to stay for dinner?”
Back in her room, Robin calls, “would you like to stay forever?”
Steve instantly blushes firetruck red. “Feel free to ignore her,” he tells Eddie. “She likes to quote movies at the absolute worst time.”
“Oh, I dunno,” Eddie murmurs. His cheeks are dusted pink. “I dunno about forever, not yet, but I certainly wouldn’t mind staying for dinner.”
“Okay,” Steve murmurs. “Chicken work for you?”
“Chicken,” Eddie murmurs back. “Sure.”
Neither of them look away from each other.
The days turn into weeks. That first day—first night, really—Eddie was there, they’d exchanged numbers.
Steve talks to Eddie on the phone most nights. The nights he doesn’t, he’s with Eddie.
At first they’re just friendly. Friends. But there’s something deeper and they both sense it. Eddie’s rosemary-and-walnut scent mixes perfectly with Steve’s lemon-basil. Robin complains about getting hungry around them, and they just laugh, knowing she’s teasing.
Still, that something deeper is there, is entirely present, and Steve knows, and Eddie knows, and he knows Eddie knows he knows. They’re both inching toward a free fall.
There’s one night they’re in Eddie’s apartment. What Corroded Coffin sales don’t cover—which is most of it, Eddie had explained—his shifts at the mechanic shop do. He gets home, weary and grease-covered, and Steve had already let himself in, was making dinner for the two of them.
“Stevie,” Eddie groans, the second he steps foot in the door.
Steve clenches his thighs at the bolt of want that spears through him.
He laughs it off, halfway turns to meet Eddie’s gaze. “Yeah?”
“Fuck, smells amazing,” he breathes. “I’m so hungry I could eat a dragon. Do you know how big those are? And I mean a whole dragon, too, an adult, not a tiny baby one.”
“You’re hungry,” Steve summarizes.
“Starving,” Eddie agrees, brushing a kiss on his cheek before moving off to his bedroom to change.
Steve freezes. Hears the moment Eddie realizes what he’s done.
He’s got a choice to make, he knows. He could pretend like nothing happened. Things would be awkward, for a minute, but they’d get past it.
He could address it. Eddie might get nervous or defensive. Might not react well. Worse yet, he might say he didn’t mean to.
Or…
He sends out a happy, pleased scent, more honey-lemon than usual, and continues cooking.
He hears Eddie walk tentatively out of his bedroom. Hears the moment his feet hit kitchen tile and he smells Steve. “Oh,” Eddie whispers.
“Go change,” Steve murmurs lightly. “Dinner’s almost ready.”
“Yeah,” Eddie responds. Steve can hear the smile. “Okay.”
“Okay,” he parrots.
He plates the food, and Eddie comes out just as he’s putting the plates on the table, wrapping him up in a hug. His nose dips closer to his scent gland than is strictly friendly, and Steve sends out more of the happy honey scent.
“Baby,” Eddie murmurs. “Yeah?”
Steve leans back into him, lets him support his weight. “Yeah,” he whispers, wrapping his arms around Eddie’s, around his waist.
He gets Eddie’s happy scent for his efforts, woodsmoke and petrichor filling his nostrils as he inhales.
They talk during dinner. About what they’re feeling, what they’re looking for. “Sweetheart,” Eddie tells him. He’s liberal with the terms of endearment, which Steve definitely likes. “I liked you the minute you threw yourself at me, trying to get away from that creep.” He inches his hands over the table, grabbing Steve’s. “But I fell for you the minute you laughed.”
Steve blinks. “The minute I laughed?”
“Mhm,” Eddie nods. “I believe I was apologizing on behalf all Alphas everywhere, who aren’t raging knotheads. You giggled, and you said I made you feel safe, and I looked in your eyes and fell in.” He shrugs. “And, I mean, you know our scents are compatible.”
“More than that,” Steve murmurs.
Eddie nods. “Exactly! And I-” he gusts out a breath. “Hell, Steve, I’m terrified. I don’t know how to be in love. But if it means a future with you? I’d do anything.”
“Love?” Steve asks, scarcely able to breathe.
Eddie bites his lip, grips Steve’s fingers a little bit harder. “Yeah.”
Steve abandons his food, rounding the table and collapsing onto Eddie’s lap. “I love you too,” he whispers. “I know it’s really early, but…”
“No take-backs.” Eddie smiles, pokes his side. “‘S not too early if we both feel it. ‘S just right.”
“Just right,” Steve murmurs, a wondering smile on his face. Suddenly, it turns teasing. “Which one of us is Goldilocks, then?”
Eddie snickers. “Obviously you, you’ve got the hair. My hair’s more like one of the three bears.”
Steve laughs, tugs teasingly on a curl. “Yeah, but I like your hair.”
“Yeah?”
“Mhm. ‘S metal.”
“Oh, baby,” Eddie rumbles. “You tryin’a start somethin’?”
Steve hums, pulls back. “No, sorry. Just wanna be near you right now.” He looks up at Eddie. “Is that okay?”
“Perfect, baby,” Eddie agrees. He shifts, drags Steve’s plate closer. “Finish your food,” he suggests. “Then we can go watch a movie. Or call Robin, if I know you the way I think I do, this conversation isn’t going to be able to wait until you get home.”
“Yeah,” Steve says, “it probably can’t wait till tomorrow.”
Careful eyes watch Eddie’s reaction. He smiles, nuzzles the side of Steve’s head. “Definitely not,” he says. “That would be a complete violation of best friend code.” He pokes Steve’s thigh. “Can we call Chrissy after? Can she come over? She hasn’t met you yet.”
Steve narrows his eyes in thought. “Chrissy’s your omega friend, right?”
“She is.”
“And does she like women?”
Eddie laughs. “I like the way you think, baby! Call Robin first, get her over here, Chrissy lives closer than you two do. I’ll call her as soon as you’re off the phone with Robin, okay?”
Steve grins. “Sounds great.” He shovels the rest of his food in his mouth, as fast as he can, then runs to the phone.
Eddie’s not any slower. He doesn’t even finish, excitement pulling any remaining hunger away, and he ends up behind Steve, pulling him into a hug as he talks to Robin.
They hang up after only a couple of minutes, and Eddie dials Chrissy’s number. “Hey,” he says, barreling on before she can even say hi back. “You’ve got ten minutes to get over here if you wanna meet my omega.” He winks at Steve, who beams back at him. Honey and woodsmoke permeate the space, dancing around and melting into each other, creating a soothing blend of scents.
He gets off the phone and turns Steve to face him fully. “Hi,” he murmurs.
Steve giggles. “Hi.”
“Can I kiss you?”
Steve’s eyes widen, and his inhale turns into a gasp. “Please,” he breathes, and Eddie does.
They’re still kissing, just little pecks, by the time there’s a knock on the door, signifying Chrissy’s arrival.
They part just long enough for Eddie to open the door and hug Chrissy. Steve scoots in under Eddie’s arm, leans into him as he greets her. Strawberry pastries bloom as she grins. “It’s nice to finally put a face to the name.”
Steve giggles, shakes her proffered hand. “I agree. I’ve heard good things about you.”
She narrows her eyes at him. “And you don’t think it’s weird that he’s such good friends with an omega?”
Steve grins. “My Alpha best friend is on her way over as we speak. I’d argue I’m one of the few who really understands.”
“Then I’m sure we’ll be just fine,” Chrissy nods, walking into the kitchen and fetching herself a drink.
“Yeah,” Eddie sighs. “That’s Chrissy.”
“I heard that!” She calls.
Steve giggles. “I really don’t think you two can be worse than me and Robin.”
“That sounds like a challenge, baby.”
“It wasn’t,” Steve protests, laughing. “Not everything has to be a competition.”
“It doesn’t have to, but it’s more fun if it is.”
Steve snorts, rolls his eyes, shakes his head. “C’mon.” He motions to the kitchen, and Eddie walks with him.
“So, Steve,” Chrissy says, sitting on the counter. “How did you two meet?
Steve grimaces. “It’s not a very happy story.”
She sighs. “What did he do?”
Steve blinks, then laughs. “Oh, no, he was great. It wasn’t him at all.”
“C’mon, Chris,” Eddie complains. “You should know me better than that by now.”
“I do know you and that’s exactly why I thought it was you,” she fires back, before looking back at Steve with a little nod.
“I, uh. Robin and I are new here, so I don’t really know anybody yet. I guess I do now, but I didn’t. I was walking and I saw this Alpha following me. And I even tried turning, to see if he was actually following me? And he was. And I didn’t- I had keys, I guess, if it came down to it, but I really didn’t want it to come down to it.” He grimaces, realizes the air is rank with rotted greens. He grimaces again, apologizes. Smiles when Eddie grumbles, pulls him in tighter, and presses a kiss to his temple.
“Want me to continue?”
Steve shakes his head, relaxes in Eddie’s hold. “I can. Just… got overwhelmed for a second.”
“It’s alright, baby. Take all the time you need.”
“I mostly understand anyways,” Chrissy says softly. “If you’d rather skip all that.”
Steve sighs. “He didn’t touch me, if that’s what you’re wondering,” he tells Chrissy. “I saw Eddie standing there, in front of me a little, and he was the first person who looked safe. So I just… pretended. I ran up to him and hugged him, and called him baby, loud enough the guy following me could hear. And thankfully Eddie caught on quickly. He jumped in, no hesitation, and the guy left, but… I was still rattled from it, y’know?”
“Definitely,” Chrissy nodded.
“So he walked me home, came in and met Robin, and… stayed for dinner.”
Eddie snickers. “I think I did what Robin asked, though. I’m staying forever.”
Steve rolls his eyes through his grin. “She’s gonna be insufferable about that.”
“That’s your best friend, baby.”
“Yes, I know,” Steve grouses. He’s still smiling.
Just then there’s another knock on the door, and Steve sprints to open it. “Robin!”
“Steve!” She greets him. He gives her a hug and pulls her into the kitchen. “Robin, meet Chrissy, Eddie’s best friend.”
Robin blinks. “Uh,” she says. “Hi.”
“Hi!” Chrissy says. “It’s really nice to meet you. Steve said you’re like me and Eddie! That’s cool!”
“Yeah,” Robin says, “except we were here first.” She immediately blanches. “Oh, fuck, sorry, no, that implies that what you have isn’t the same as what we have, which means I think you’re a liar, except I don’t think you’re a liar, I swear, I just-”
Aside to Eddie, Steve whispers, “should we give them the room?”
In lieu of an answer, Eddie wraps his arm around Steve and quietly walks them out of the kitchen.
In the living room, sounds are a little muffled, but Steve hears Robin’s ramblings broken up by a softer, higher voice—Chrissy—and soon they’re both talking, a low murmur that works as the background to the steady thump-thump of Eddie’s heart against his ear where his head is pillowed on Eddie’s chest. He yawns, curls in a little. “I could fall asleep like this.”
“I’m here if you want to,” Eddie murmurs, running a hand down Steve’s back. “I’ll be here. Take you to bed, if you want.”
Steve shakes his head. “I wanna stay out here. But if they stay in there for much longer, I’m gonna fall asleep. Especially if you keep that up.”
Eddie chuckles lightly, keeps rubbing his back. “You do that, baby.”
Steve does.
He wakes up slowly, later, in a way he hasn’t in so long. He’s used to his alarm blaring, shocking him awake, and the rare days he gets off he wakes up in a rush thinking he’s late for work. He rarely wakes up slowly like this, pushing his legs out to stretch, tilting his head up, humming when it puts his nose in contact with Eddie’s scent gland. Rosemary and woodsmoke seep into his nostrils, permeates every inch of his brain. He knows, distantly, he’s pumping out the honey again, but it’s unintentional, and he nearly falls back asleep. He drifts for a while, laying in that twilight of sleep, before Eddie shifts, waking up.
He puts a hand on Steve’s back, and Steve wakes up more, purrs. Eddie rumbles out an Alpha purr back. “Mornin’, baby,” he mumbles. Steve just hums again, and Eddie chuckles. “Not awake yet?”
Another hum. “Almost.”
“Take your time, sweetheart.” He rubs his hand down Steve’s back. “I’ll be here.”
Another hum. “When’id Robbie n’ Chrissy leave?”
“They didn’t stay for too long. They left at the same time, and Robin triple-checked that you’d be spending the night here.”
Steve nods sleepily. “‘S good.”
Eddie chuckles. “Yeah. You wanna wake up or go back to sleep, baby?”
“‘M awake.”
“Wasn’t really my question, but I think that might’ve answered it anyways.” He dips his head to press a kiss to Steve’s temple, and Steve purrs again. Or more. He’s not sure he ever stopped in the first place.
His purring is interrupted by a yawn. He opens his eyes with he finishes, blinks in the dim light of Eddie’s room. “Food?”
“I can make some,” Eddie agrees. “How’s eggs and toast sound?”
“And coffee?”
“And coffee,” Eddie chuckles. “You gonna let me up? Or are you planning on becoming a limpet in your next life and you’re getting a head-start now?”
“Wanna go with you.”
“You can, but that doesn’t negate the fact that we’ve still gotta get up.”
Steve huffs out a dramatic breath, rolls out of bed and onto his feet. Stretches, then realizes he’s in boxers. No pants. He squints at his bare legs, then at Eddie, who smiles. “I didn’t want you wearing jeans in bed, sweetheart, I know how uncomfortable that is. I can give you some pajama pants if you want.”
“Yes, please. And thank you.”
“You,” Eddie says, “are most welcome.” He rolls out of bed and strides to his dresser, tossing Steve a pair of red-and-black plaid sleep pants.
He dons his own, blue with pink polka-dots. Snickers when Steve looks between the two of them.
“You wanna know why I put these on? Instead of giving them to you?”
“Yeah,” Steve agrees. “You know I like those better.”
“I put them on,” he pauses for a taffy kiss, sweet and stretched-out, “so you can take them home with you tonight and put them in your nest.”
“Fuck, I love you,” Steve breathes.
Eddie pushes in for another kiss, this one impatient, hot and searing, licking across the seam of Steve’s mouth, pressing between his lips, bullying his way past Steve’s teeth until he can taste him, and it should be gross because neither of them have brushed their teeth yet but instead it’s just good in a way that makes his Alpha light up. “Love you,” he mutters against Steve’s lips, pulling back to tap Steve’s hand, still holding the plaid pants. “Get dressed, baby. I’ll start on breakfast.”
“No, wait for me!” Steve whines, frantically pushing his foot into the half-folded leg of the pants.
Eddie waits, so Steve slows down a little, letting the pants unfold before he shoves his legs through the holes.
They pad out to the kitchen together, where Steve sits on the counter while Eddie pops bread in the toaster and fries some eggs.
Eating is a quiet affair, Eddie hooking his ankle around Steve’s as soon as they sit down, just wanting to keep that touch.
Eventually Steve has to go get ready for work, so he heads home and nearly bumps into Chrissy as she’s walking down the steps of his apartment building. He grins at her. “Hello,” he says, “sleep well?”
She flushes, but winks at him, and he laughs.
He continues on, up to his apartment, where Robin’s waiting for him. She’s in the kitchen, nursing her second cup of coffee. Steve knows it’s her second because she always downs the first the moment it’s no longer scalding. “Well hello there,” she says, lecherous grin on her face. “And what did you get up to all night, might I ask?”
Steve rolls his eyes. “We literally just slept, Robs, I didn’t wake up until this morning. I did pass Chrissy on my way in, though.”
She nearly chokes on her coffee, blush staining her cheeks pink. She tries to wave him away, goes for the sappy comment. “I’ve never known you to fall asleep on someone you’ve only known a few weeks. It takes longer than that for you to be willing to invite someone into your pack.”
Steve flushes, holds up the pants Eddie had on. “Um,” he says, “surprise?”
Her mouth drops open. “You bitch!” She delightedly shrieks.
He giggles. “Guess you were right about me being a slut, huh?”
“You should know by now that I’m always right. And I thought you said you didn’t have sex?”
“Yeah, but I can still be a slut without having sex.”
She narrows her eyes at him. “That’s not how that works, at all, but also yes. You can. And only you, I think.” She shrugs, turns away to head to her room, bumping his arm with her shoulder. “You’re one of a kind.”
“Hell yeah I am.”
“I never said that was a good thing.” She disappears into her room, leaving Steve to stare after her.
To think she called him a bitch.
The week continues as it had gone before; he and Eddie still talk on the phone nightly, except now those are few and far between; they’re usually at an apartment, either bothering Robin or enjoying solitude with each other in Eddie’s apartment. On the nights when Steve doesn’t work the next day, he’ll stay over at Eddie’s.
He doesn’t entirely know what they’re waiting for. Why they haven’t had sex yet. They both want to, but it’s like there’s a lot whisper in the air, something murmuring not yet, it’s not time now, but soon. And honestly? Steve really enjoys the change of pace.
About a week later is the third Friday, the day Dustin’s coming over. Eddie gets there around noon, because when Dustin says six p.m., what he really means is whenever he feels like it.
That’s why, at a quarter after three, there’s a knock on the door.
Eddie slides in his socked feet over the hardwood, nearly running into the door and saving it at the last moment. Steve snorts.
Eddie throws open the door. “Ah, hello! You must be Dustin!”
“Oh holy shit,” Dustin says, blinking wide-eyed at Eddie. “You- you’re-”
“Wow,” Steve says, coming up to Eddie, “I don’t think I’ve ever seen him speechless before.” He pats Eddie’s shoulder. “Good job.”
Eddie snorts. “Thanks?” He hip-checks Steve, sending a warm smile his way.
Steve grins back, moves to the kitchen. “In or out, Henderson, and close your mouth ‘fore you start catching flies like that Mona Lisa of yours.”
Dustin scurries inside. Eddie frowns. “Mona Lisa?”
“Yeah, he’s got one of those…” Steve waves a hand. “Plants that eat bugs.”
“Venus fly trap,” Dustin says. “You’re Eddie Munson.”
“I am.”
“And you’re in Steve’s apartment.”
“I am.”
Dustin pauses. “Why in the hell-”
Eddie wraps an arm around Dustin’s shoulders. “Ah, to be young and carefree, to know not the trap of a heart given to another-”
“He’s got a girlfriend,” Steve says, crossing his arms. “Trap?”
Eddie freezes. “Not trap. Uh… fuck, I wrote myself into a corner.” He releases Dustin, bounds up to Steve. Ducks his head and looks up at him. “Forgive me?”
Steve chuckles. “Dramatic dork,” he says, but presses a chaste kiss to Eddie’s lips.
“What the fuck?” Dustin screeches.
Steve winces. “Dude, language and volume, c’mon. Christ, it’s like you’ve never seen two people kiss before.”
“But you!” Dustin says emphatically. “Him! How?”
Steve exchanges a glance with Eddie, then sighs and tells Dustin how they met. “He escorted me home, met Robin, stayed for dinner…”
“Stayed forever,” Eddie mumbles in Steve’s ear.
Steve chuckles. “Even if I thought you were punk when I first met you?”
“You what?” Dustin hisses. They both ignore him.
“Even then,” Eddie promises. “Especially then, actually, as soon as people know I’m in a band they act different. You didn’t. Just kept talking to me like a normal dude.”
“Oh,” Dustin says suddenly. “Really?”
Eddie offers him a crooked smile. “Don’t sweat it, man, according to Robin you’re an actual, genuine fan. Already worlds ahead of the people who didn’t give me the time of day until they thought I could give them popularity.”
Dustin nods. “That makes sense,” he says. “Still. It sucks that people are like that.”
Eddie shrugs. “I feel sorry for ‘em. Chasing everything they can to get an inch closer to the top. What’re they gonna see once they get there? A whole lotta nothing. Plus,” he smiles at Steve, “it means we’re here, now.”
Steve leans against him. Eddie wraps his arms around his waist. “Together,” Steve agrees.
“Together,” Eddie parrots.
“Oh,” Dustin murmurs again. “You guys, like, actually love each other, don’t you?”
Steve tilts his head. “How’d you know?”
“The way you looked at each other,” he says honestly. “Like it belongs in a movie or something.”
“Oh,” Steve murmurs. Eddie’s arms tighten around his waist.
“You’re right,” Eddie tells Dustin. “We do.”
Steve snickers. “We do belong in a movie?”
Eddie laughs, dislodges Steve, swats at him until Steve swats back.
“Wow,” Dustin says, deadpan, “you two really do deserve each other. You’re both children.”
Steve exchanges a look with Eddie. They both charge Dustin, who chants, “Shit, shit, shit!” as he runs for the living room.
Eddie catches him around the waist, throws them both onto the couch, where they lay, giggling and panting.
Steve laughs, sitting on the chair to the left of the couch. “Speaking of children,” he asks Dustin, “do you want to call the rest of the Party?”
Dustin’s eyes gleam. “Holy shit, yes, wait, I brought-” he scrambles up, sending an elbow into Eddie’s gut in his hurry. Eddie squawks and grabs at the back of Dustin’s shirt, but Dustin’s out of reach, and doesn’t notice what he just caused. He digs around his backpack for a minute. “Ha!” He yells, holding up a walkie-talkie. “Okay, hang on, lemme-” he depresses the button. “This is Dustin calling a code yellow, everybody come in! I repeat, code yellow, come in!”
“This had better be good, shit-for-brains,” Max warns him.
“That’s what a code yellow means, Max. And you’ve gotta say over. Over.”
“Fuck you, how ‘bout that?”
“Christ,” Steve murmurs to Eddie. “Meet my feral children.”
Eddie grins back. “They sound like fun.”
“Okay,” Will chimes in. “I’m here. Dustin, don’t answer Max, she’s just gonna have an even worse comeback. Save yourself the pain. And us. Over.”
“El and I are here,” Mike says. “Over.”
“How about Lucas? Over.”
“Here,” Lucas says wearily. “What’s this about? Over.”
“I’ve got someone I’d like you to meet.”
“You didn’t know him until today, shithead,” Steve tells him.
“Is that Steve? Hi Steve!” El calls. “What’s the news?”
He grabs the walkie out of Dustin’s hand, sends him a look when he tries to take it back. “The news is,” he looks at Eddie, who nods encouragingly, smiling. “my Alpha.”
He hands the walkie to Eddie. “Hey, guys!” He says. “My name is Eddie Munson. It’s nice to sort-of meet you!”
“Dustin,” Will says, low and controlled. “Tell me this isn’t a prank of some sort.”
Dustin steals the walkie back. “Dude, I nearly died,” he swears to Will. “It’s him. It’s really him.”
The walkie explodes with noise.
“Who?” Max asks.
“I’ll educate her,” Lucas promises, and then they’re both gone.
Then Mike, El and Will take turns pinging in. During a lull, Eddie swipes the walkie. “I’ve got a question,” he says. “Why do you guys calls yourselves the Party?”
“Oh, shit,” Steve murmurs. “I’m gonna lose you to them.”
“Never,” Eddie promises him.
“Uh,” Will says hesitantly. “We play D&D. It’s how most of us met, we were all interested in playing in school, and we kind of just… bonded.”
“No shit?” Eddie asks. “That’s super cool! Who’s your DM?”
“I am.”
Eddie laughs. “Dude, that’s great! I’ll have to pick your brain for storylines. Maybe we could swap our favorites? Do you have any homebrew or are they all canon?”
“They’re all canon,” Will admits. “But I did add my own twists to a few.”
“Man, that’s awesome! When I first started I was terrified I was gonna mess up. Had to do everything by the book. But then I got more confident and I started adding some of my own stuff in, and then I got even more confident and decided to write my own campaign.”
“And it was good?”
Eddie snorts. “Actually? It was complete shit. But I had good friends who didn’t tell me that, they encouraged me to keep trying, and I did, and now I’m actually good at whipping up a homebrew.”
“Wow,” Will breathes. “Could we- not now, obviously, but-”
Eddie chuckles. “I’d love to talk shop with you, Will.”
“Stealing you from me,” Steve murmurs. Eddie rubs a soothing hand on his thigh, passes the radio back to Dustin. “Sweetheart,” he murmurs, “you really feel that way?”
Steve shrugs, tips his head down. “‘M just… feeling weird, I guess. It’s not your fault. You don’t have to coddle me.”
“I don’t have to do anything,” Eddie agrees, bringing Steve’s hand up to kiss his knuckles. “Tell me how I can fix it?”
Steve shrugs miserably. “I don’t know.”
“You’re just feeling some kinda way?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s alright, baby. Wanna come sit over here with me?”
Steve considers it, then nods and moves from his chair to the couch, next to Eddie, close enough they’re touching all the way down and Eddie can comfortably get an arm around his shoulders. “There we go, sweetness. That better?”
Steve sighs, tucks his face into Eddie’s neck, and goes boneless. “Yeah.”
“See what I mean?” Dustin says, and that’s when they both realize he’d broadcasted their exchange to the rest of the Party.
“There’s something deeply wrong with you, little man,” Max drawls.
Dustin squawks. “Just because you’re taller than me!”
“Yeah, yeah. Yada yada. They’re sweet, is what they are, and maybe if you ever got your head outta your ass where your precious Suzie-poo is concerned-”
“Oh, fuck you, Maxine, and what if your guy hadn’t lived in the same town as you, huh?”
“I’d still be doing better than you!”
“Christ,” Steve mutters, curling a hand into Eddie’s shirt. “Make it stop.”
Eddie ducks down to press a kiss to Steve’s temple. “You bein’ funny or serious?”
“Both,” Steve admits. “But mostly serious.”
Eddie chuckles, then plucks the walkie from Dustin’s grasp. “Alright!” He says. “That’s enough. This is Eddie, Steve, and Dustin, signing off. Over and out.” He twists the knob to turn the walkie off, then tosses it back to Dustin. “Put that away, please,” he says softly.
Dustin turns sad eyes up to Steve. “Did we cause a migraine?” He whispers.
Steve smiles, reaches out to grab Dustin’s shoulder. “Only a little one,” he admits. “Rain check on the rest of today?”
Dustin nods immediately, shoving the walkie into his bag and scent-marking Steve, accepting the same back, and then turning to Eddie with a questioning look.
“Sure, kid,” Eddie chuckles, reaching out and accepting the same. “It was really good to meet you.”
“You too.” He smiles. “I’ve got a key, so don’t worry about locking me out. I’ll get it.”
“Why didn’t you let yourself in?” Steve wonders.
“You told me to knock.”
“When have you ever done something I told you to.”
“…and the key was in my bag and I didn’t want to have to find it.”
“There it is.” Steve sighs fondly, shaking his head. “Never change, Dustin.”
“Never,” Dustin agrees, fishing the key out of his bag and brandishing it at them with a grin. “Call me?”
“I will.”
“M’kay. Bye, Steve. Bye, Eddie.”
“Bye, Dustin,” they tell him, and then the door is closed. Eddie listens for the snik of the lock before he moves himself and Steve to lay down on the couch. “You wanna take a little nap, baby?”
Steve hums. “Should go in my room,” he murmurs. “And… need water first.”
Eddie carefully sits them up, helps Steve stand. “Go to your room, baby. I’ll get you water.”
Steve hums, leans into Eddie for a second. “Thank you, Alpha.”
“Omega,” Eddie softly rumbles. “Love you.”
“Love you.” He pushes off Eddie and walks down the hall. Eddie watches him until he’s in his room, then moves to get his water.
The weeks continue. Eddie meets the rest of the Party. He and Max hit it off like a house on fire. Will has a much quieter, though no less sincere, appreciation for him. Steve teases him relentlessly about Mike’s obvious crush on him. “No!” Eddie cries. “He’s a child!”
The weeks continue. Steve is at Eddie’s apartment more than his own now. Robin’s taken to waving a white handkerchief whenever he leaves, like he doesn’t know she’ll be calling Chrissy the moment he’s gone.
The four of them get together fairly often; mandatory Friday movie nights, at the very least, though more often than not they’ll all just congregate at an apartment and stay until it’s far too late.
Steve and Robin’s lease is up soon. And because he tracks his heats, he knows his next one is due right around when their lease is up. “Just move in with Eddie,” Robin tells him. “Chrissy’s lease ends a month after ours. I’ll renew it, and a month in she’ll come live with me.”
“Maybe,” Steve hedges. “I’ll have to talk to Eddie about it.”
She scoffs, rolls her eyes. “Like he’d ever tell you no.”
Steve blushes, because she’s right and he loves it. “I’ll talk to him,” he promises.
“You’d better,” she threatens.
He does. He’s relaxing on the couch with Eddie after dinner when he looks up at him and asks, “Eddie?”
Eddie smiles down at him. “Yeah, baby?”
Steve works his lip. “What do you think of me, maybe, moving in with you?”
Woodsmoke blooms. “How would you feel about it?”
“I really want to,” Steve whispers.
Eddie kisses him. “I do, too,” he whispers back.
“There’s one more thing.”
“Okay.”
“Um. The timing is… really not great. And I don’t know exactly when it’ll be, so it could be before or after mine and Robin’s lease is up, or it could hit, like, the day the lease expires, but.” He takes a breath. “Would you help me through my heat?”
“Baby,” Eddie rumbles, dipping to kiss his gland. “It would be my absolute honor.”

the way I read this two weeks ago and have yet to reblog... anyhow, cam already heard me absolutely CRASH OUT reading this on vc. but it's a lot more fun to host a public crash out too.
FIRST OFF ALL.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
second of all.
the UNIQUE concept is to fucking die for. the idea of vampires feeding off of other vampires is something I've never even thought about??! much less them becoming literally fucking soul bound after that.
You hadn't put your mouth on anyone since that night, not even when it felt as if you had been scooped out with a spoon, carved open, and laid bare from hunger. If it wasn't him you would have nobody.
PACK IT UP PACK IT UP. "If it wasn't him you would have nobody" YES YES YES. like I'm tearing my heart open and giving it to you rn just take me as I am.
Feeding from vampires was anything but a rush, that first mouthful was a wash of exhilaration. It made one dependent on each other, one taste and it was never the same.
mother of all things holy.
next, the way they were both yearning for each other. cam was yapping this nonsense about the smut feeling weird, BUT LET ME TELL YOU. the smut in this fic is absolutely DIVINE. it portrays the longing and the yearning in such an immaculate way I'm literally out of breath writing this rn. like just opening the fic back up to find my favourite parts has me in shambles, so you can imagine the out of body experience I had reading this.
You would never feel full again unless you had him back.
AH YES YESYYEYSYEYSYEYSWYE.
You still remember the sound his human heart made
see. i. I'M UNWELL. the way she remembers him even after DECADES passing. the longing of a vampire is so painfully beautiful I'm going to actually pass out on the floor may one of you guys come pick me up again once I've had a moment to collect myself.
AND WHEN SHE SEES HIM AGAIN --- It wasn't the butterflies of newfound love but sickening maggots wriggling in your stomach.
cam I'm going to actually bend you over.
But he was wrong, he hadn't known how full the world felt, how full he was after one drop of love from you. And now he was empty, starved clean from his own doing. “I was ashamed,”  The confession was so quiet matching your question, “And now?”  Beomgyu looked up from under his lashes, he was close enough now that your scent was suffocating him, begging him to give in and just sink his teeth right over your heart. Find the same place they had last been because no one had been able to tempt him to even pull his fangs down, not since you. “And now I'm starving,”
AND NOW IM STARVING BITCH COME HERE IM GOING TO GIVE YOU MY BODY MIND AND SOUL FOR BREAKFAST DINNER AND LUNCH.
“Now look at this,” you can feel the pad of his thumb running over the bite mark scars he's left on your inner thigh, his grin wicked enough to make your knees twitch. “I wonder if your pretty cunt will remember me as well as your skin has,”
im so normal about this paragraph its insane lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
everyone shut up and read this part:
Beomgyu whines, breath quickening as he shoves in the last few inches. He lets his body fall onto yours, needing to be closer, needing to drag his lips over your neck, teeth scratching at your pulse, “say it again, tell me how much you hate me,”  But he knows you can hardly speak, your legs wrapping around him, arms pulling him down closer. “Shut up,” you gasp, his hips rolling against yours.  “then beg me,” he doesn’t even have to say for what. Not when your neck is rolling back to give him better access to your vein, his lips brushing against your skin with each word. “If you don’t hate me, beg me to taste you. I know you remember how much I love to mix the flavor of your blood with your cum still in my mouth,”
I want to declare a moment of silence. for my sanity, for my pride and the person I have become after being bestowed such an honour of a fic. I want to lick every part of cam until there's nothing left of her and I want everyone who I've never came in contact with to have read this fic at least once in their entire life to get at least some use out of it.
this fic is my favourite ever.

The bar was dark enough to keep the bruised necks and wrists of the occasional lost traveler hidden. Spots of blood dripped onto crisp white shirts scenting the air in coppery sweetness. It was a sickening smell to those who didn't need to feed, the alcohol keeping the rest of the occupants held over enough to ignore the twinge.
You didn't come to places like this often, the back room filled with half-drunk vampires and humans, desperately grasping at each other as they took from one another. Even the drinks didn't call to you, not when he wasn't standing there behind the bar passing them to you, constantly working his eyes up your body like a desperate plea to have even a taste. He hadn't been turned then, not when you first met. The pull towards you always accounted for the fact you were tainted with blood lust. A moth to a flame, he felt that pull, your hunger enough to send him right into the fire without even glancing at him.
It wasn't often that a human found themselves offering their bodies up to vampires. Most of them felt the hair rise on the back of their necks, the prickling of fear telling them that whoever was standing just round the corner was a wolf in perfectly tailored sheeps clothing, how tight that human look held onto you after your change. The uncanny glow seeping that poisonous warning off in waves, a trap waiting for the truly reckless to trip.
The ones who wandered closer instead of away always found themselves in the back of bars like this, bruised and hazy eyed laying in beds done up in silk and candlelight. Beomgyu, although working behind the bar for years knew never to offer himself up to the ones who sunk his stomach, that warning to run ringing in his ears as he slid a drink across the hardwood. But you, the second the door had pushed open and your skin washed in that low down glow, tripped him up; your waiting trap snapping shut around him like a rib cage around fluttering lungs. Even the echo of fading hoof beats on stone sounded so close to the beating of his heart that he couldn't tell the difference between flight and flush.
But that had been years ago, so many that you couldn't even remember the shade of his irises. You remember they were brown, staring up at ceilings casing empty houses trying and failing to conger up the image. Well over a century's worth of time to hate yourself for forgetting the one thing that drew you in at first glance. But it wasn't as if you didn't try to work your way through the fading memories of him, all flickering by like the passing pages of a notebook you forgot you wrote and held so dearly. All you could see was that empty bed, the sugary taste of his blood still on your tongue, your breast still tender from where he bit you over your heart, so hard the soft outline of his teeth, like a stain you desperately wanted to rid yourself of.
You had come here, back to this bar only three times after he had left to check in. That night with tears in your eyes, heart crumbling, the second taehyun had confessed that beomgyu was gone, packed up with only a shrugged goodbye. “He said he doesn't know when he will be back,”
You had waited ten years to return the next time, so little time when you counted decades like snowflakes, not the glass shattering hail you assumed beomgyu would have still thought of as a recently turned fledgling. But no one had seen him, heard from him, hardly even thought of him. But he plagued you, ran around your head until you could taste the blood coming from overworked joints.
The third time was no better, not when you entered and Taehyun shook his head, apologizing for a friend he wouldn't recognize anymore.
You had given up, moved away, and swore to never think about beomgyu and his puppy stare. That follow you everywhere look that seeped into your bones and begged you to never turn away from him. Only now you were back, sitting in the far corner you fell in love, sinking into the leather seat wishing you could have that first glance back.
Taehyun felt pity when he saw you, knew that you had been locked away in some house countries away, only sending in orders for blood long since cold. He poured you a glass, the same drink you asked for with tears in your eyes that first night back alone, chugging so many of them back he's sure your blood tasted of fire, too sour, burning all the way down one's throat.
“Thank you,” neither of you wanted to bring Beomgyu up but he was the first thing on both of your minds.
“He hasn't-”
“I don't care,” you tossed back your drink, the ripples of mixed in blood making your fangs tingle, ready to push through soft gums and piece flesh not yet provided. It's why you came. Tired of the empty flavored pints of blood brought to you by Soobin and his sorry eyes. You hadn't put your mouth on anyone since that night, not even when it felt as if you had been scooped out with a spoon, carved open, and laid bare from hunger. If it wasn't him you would have nobody.
But that declaration was a century ago, so many cold cups later it was tiring to swallow another. “I want a girl, preferably quiet, business only,” Taehyun nodded to your order, already knowing the best pick.
“Room 615, she can be brought back in about thirty minutes,” there was no room for judgment, not after the years of working behind this counter, sneaking into those beds just like everyone else had. But he knew what it took from someone who hated to drink from a vein, it's why they had the services, those who couldn't go out and find someone or someones to keep up a constant full belly.
But human blood wasn't the same as drinking from a vampire, humans went out too quickly, blinking back their faintness, never able to take more than a few deep pulls before they were at capacity. Feeding from vampires was anything but a rush, that first mouthful was a wash of exhilaration. It made one dependent on each other, one taste and it was never the same. Taehyun could tell Beomgyu and you drank from each other. Could see it in the years after, the way you turned your nose up even at the bitter drink in your glass.
You would never feel full again unless you had him back.
Thirty minutes was enough time to go home and call soobin for a late night order. But your hunger was clawing up your throat, nails on a chalkboard begging for anything else. Having the time to think, sitting here, filled your mouth with the memory of him. Not just the taste of his blood but the faint drum of his turned heartbeat. You still remember the sound his human heart made. The way it pattered at the sight of you, that irregular beat speeding up every time you sat down in front of him, entered through the cherrywood door.
How even after you had turned him his heart still acted as if it was tied to your presence, fluttering weakly even if it was all it could muster.
It was that sound that made you turn, conjured up from memory only now to show up right behind you. Taehyun was frozen, face pale at the sight of his lost friend. He had only seen him once or twice after he had been turned but now he was no half human fledgling.
Beomgyu and you were caught in a web of your own disastrous weaving, stuck in place witnessing the crumbling of love because seeing him only settled the grievances you held into stone.
He wasn't hollow like you were, empty from the time left alone, the bloodlust having fully settled over his skin making him shine in that uncanny beauty. Everything about his gentle human features has been frozen in place, the warmth in his brown eyes only enhanced in the light. How sickening to have to now face the reality of what you had done to him, what he must have run from once he realized he couldn't truly love the monster who infected him.
It wasn't the butterflies of newfound love but sickening maggots wriggling in your stomach. You stumbled as you stood, not even worrying about the key taehyun had left for you next to your drink, not even a meal could keep you from running as far as you could.
It had been too long for him to come back when you had given up on trying to wait for him. How many nights had been spent waiting for this exact moment? Only now for you to run away. How cruel fate could be.
He was calling your name, that twinge of hurt mixed in with something close to pity, every syllable weaved through with the words, no, don't do this, don't make me feel sorry. Even his voice made you waver, the back and forth shake of your head confusing you as you walked down the wrong hallway.
Even through the doors, you could smell the blood from the occupants behind them, like overripe fruit left to sit on the counter, nothing smelled the same after one drop from him. And now with Beomgyu right behind you, weak heartbeat still mimicking that first sight, it was impossible not to pinpoint the smell of him. Wrapping around you like fog; a haze you tried desperately to claw your way out of but you knew it was no use. You had never felt so hungry until then, carved clean through with the need.
“Please, let me explain,” he tried, grasping at straws. He didn't intend to see you first, only planned on catching up with Taehyun and apologizing for leaving him behind without answers. Save this conversation for when he built up the courage. “Please,”
His fingertips only brushed your arm, the shock of it going right down to your toes. It was instinct to turn and slap his hand away, and even in your exasperated exhale, that first acknowledgment was enough to make Beomgyu weak again, as if he had ever been anything but when attached to you. “What is there to explain? You left, you left me there, alone in our bed,”
“I-” The words were stuck in his mouth, hanging right at the edge of his tongue and yet all that came up was a frustrated laugh, “well did you miss me?” even just hearing his own words he could tell you would fume.
“Did I mi- you left me! You fucking left me, if anything now I just hate you,”
It was so easy to fall back into it with you, as if you had woken up alone a few days ago not centuries, “look what you did to me. What I've become, don't act as if you're so innocent in this, don't blame me for decisions we both made,”
The words felt like a slap in the face. That night you had turned him so clear in your mind, the way he had begged, the way he had burned. It was one of the hardest things you had ever done, most vampires went their whole lifetime without infecting anyone because of how hard it was to complete and yet you had.
“I turned you after you asked me. Do you know how much it takes? And then like some love-sick fool, I drank from you and every day I think about how stupid I was to believe you would stay. After I left behind everything I knew just so that I could have some human boy stay with me. How pathetic,” the last word was thick, sticking to your throat and pulling your tears forward. “You should go back to wherever you ran away to, climb into some feeders bed to keep warm for all I care,”
You turned, ready to close the door on a life you wished you had. The one you begged for after nights spent alone clinging to the sheets that still smelled of him. But Beomgyu wouldn't have it, his grip tight on your wrist as he pulled you back, “It was never about changing me, I left because I wanted to know if it was real- that intensity was so…consuming, I was scared and so I ran. I ran and I looked for some way to replicate it because I'm a fucking fool who can't see right in front of himself. You made me addicted to you, I begged you to do this to me and yet I ran. Im sorry,”
“You can say that but you stayed away so long I'm sure you found some poor soul to swallow down by the mouthful,” he could feel your resentment coiling around him, snapping back at his desperate attempt to explain. Because there was no way for him to get the words out, even after running them around his head for the years he had lost all because of his own fear.
That night was stuck right behind his eyelids, replaying over and over. Your body pressed to his, soundlessly sleeping as he looked up at your shared canopy bed. Your blood was still singing through his body, staining his perception of life before you. He didn't know he could be so utterly infected by someone so much so that it colored his sky differently. Your soft breathing was enough to tear him apart, he wanted countless nights spent exactly like that one, just watching you, listening to you sleep. And it scared him. He thought humans had been over-emotional, feeling things as they came, wallowing in them because they had little time to let it spread out. But he was wrong, he hadn't known how full the world felt, how full he was after one drop of love from you. And now he was empty, starved clean from his own doing. “I was ashamed,”
The confession was so quiet matching your question, “And now?”
Beomgyu looked up from under his lashes, he was close enough now that your scent was suffocating him, begging him to give in and just sink his teeth right over your heart. Find the same place they had last been because no one had been able to tempt him to even pull his fangs down, not since you. “And now I'm starving,”
Even just the word from his mouth made your fangs ache. You had been getting by on so little for so long. He was the only thing your body needed and you knew he must feel the same. Your mouth was filled with saliva, that venom that numbed prey or set them ablaze. You tried to swallow but you could already taste him, the movement of your throat making his eyes zero in on your pulse. You were no better watching his adam’s apple bob, connecting the dots on long since gone trails of hickeys you’d left before.
Neither of you knew who moved first, moaning against lips you were sure you’d never kiss again. His sweet venom singing on your tongue. His hands were heavy on your body, pulling you closer as he pushed you against the hallway wall. He wanted to melt into you, his desperation crawling up his skin, hips keeping you in place.
You chuckled into his mouth, the sound rattling in the back of his throat like a prayer he wanted to keep to himself. “You always did get hard from kissing,” his whimper in response is followed by the grind of his bulge against you. How fast his body reacted to your touch didn’t change when he did.
His heart was picking up speed, your fingers running through his hair, the groves of your fingertips slotting back into place amongst the strands. Beomgyu’s fangs were already elongating, nipping your bottom lip. He had always felt so good about his self-control, accounting those early days of overfeeding on you for the simple fact of being so recently changed, he should have known you were the variable that cracked the hold he had on himself. It was only worse now that he'd nicked you enough to mix blood into the kiss, his throaty moan rumbling against your body, sinking into your soul.
You're both stumbling to find a room, twisting knobs until you find an empty one. The silk bed envelops the both of you as you fall into it, peeling off layers of clothes. Beomgyu can smell your sweet arousal between your legs the second he's pushed them apart to kneel between.
“Now look at this,” you can feel the pad of his thumb running over the bite mark scars he's left on your inner thigh, his grin wicked enough to make your knees twitch. “I wonder if your pretty cunt will remember me as well as your skin has,”
“You're impossible to forget,” and when you expected him to bite you, following the pattern of his usual ravishing but he skipped it, shocking you with his lips wrapping around your clit, sucking deeply.
His mouth is on a direct line to your spine, your back arching off the bed. His tongue is hot on you, tracing the lines of your folds, and moaning into your slick. He missed these desperate whines you let slip, the perfect backtrack to the messy slurping sounds he's started. You hadn't even realized how much you had missed his mouth, your fingers twisting into his hair the second he brushed a fang against your swollen bud. He loved to tease but it had been too long since you felt your orgasm rise so fast.
Beomgyu was eating you like he missed your pussy, your stomach tightening, hips sinking into the sheets. It only takes a few more precise sucks with his puffy lips before your toes are curling, eyes rolling back as you cum for him. His chuckle vibrates against you before he pulls away, chin shining with your wetness. “I missed the taste of you,”
He hasn't even tried to find someone else to take care of his needs, not when he knew no other cunt could compare to the way yours perfectly molded to him, sucking him in to the hilt. The memory alone is what had him rushing to get inside of you, cock already leaking rivets of precum.
You've never felt so needy in your life, fangs and pussy aching for him. The drag of his tip from your clit to your weeping entrance makes your knees fall open. One of his hands guides himself to push into you and the other tenderly holds your hip in place. Your mouth drops open at the stretch, slow as he lets you take in the feeling, needing you to remember how full he kept you.
Beomgyu whines, breath quickening as he shoves in the last few inches. He lets his body fall onto yours, needing to be closer, needing to drag his lips over your neck, teeth scratching at your pulse, “say it again, tell me how much you hate me,”
But he knows you can hardly speak, your legs wrapping around him, arms pulling him down closer.
As many times as he's crossed your mind, thinking about his fangs in your neck was something that would never compare to the moment they finally sunk in. You had never let anyone feed from you, not until he was there in front of you pleading. You were no better, not after you had changed him, needing to drain him of almost everything. But with one nod he was biting you.
Beomgyu’s mouth was flooded with your blood, the familiar flavor of iron mixed with the undercurrent of sweet delicacy. He’d dream about the first bite, mouth tingling, fangs brought forward on nothing but the memory of you. Now he was ravenous, so shocked by his own hunger with its pounding fists on nailed shut doors. His hips stuttered in his thrusting, caught on the ecstasy of quenched starvation.
You felt your mind slip into that hazy space, anything he asked would be answered, every action would be taken, and all you knew was him and him alone. To have that numbing venom injected into your bloodstream was enough to break even the strongest down into puddles of simmering whimpers.
It was hard to pull away and keep himself from overfeeding like he wished he could. But he felt his orgasm cresting, stomach flexing as his balls tightened. Beomgyu shoved his wrist to your waiting lips, your fangs stinging as they pierced his weak flesh. You drank deeply, thick swallows of the ichor you had prayed to get back on your tongue.
Everything was crashing down around you, beomgyu groaning as you clenched around him, fluttering walls sucking him in as you came, taking everything he had to give. He was a mess of moans, clinging to you as if that could keep him grounded when he felt this good. Every slow shallow thrust only pushes his cum further into you, still being pulled from him with every pulse of your greedy pussy.
Neither of you can believe how lost you had become, falling into each other like stars crashing into nothing but pooling darkness, so full of energy the only option was to collapse. And it's just what you did, twisting into each other's hold, beomgyu’s kisses pressed over the puncture marks he's made on you, nose brushing up and down your skin trying to keep your scent close.
Breathing evening you fought back the worry settling in. He had left before, walked right out the door without you knowing anything wrong had been on his mind, what was keeping him from doing it all over again?
“Stop thinking,” he muttered, mouth finding yours, mixing the flavors of your blood together as he kissed you. “I don't think I could find it in myself to ever leave again,” but he was pulling away, his playful smirk lingering on his lip cleansing your worrying mind if even for a movement. “How could I ever leave again after seeing how happy and full you are after only one round?” he pulled his still hard cock from you, the gush of cum slipping out, pooling on his ready fingers only to shove them right back into your waiting cunt. “No, nothing could keep me from this sight ever again,”

Luigi x Pregnant Reader Headcanons
-Your sex life with Luigi had always been active, but once you two decided to see what happens in terms of getting pregnant, he got baby fever BAD and it turned into a whole baby making season for him.
-You had sex almost every day before, but now it was constantly - on the countertop, in the shower, in the pool/ocean, etc. Even when you were tired, he’d happily make love to you with gentle strokes, humming how much he loved you and wanted a baby. He’d also lay on the praise even more during baby making season. “Mmm, going to give you a baby, beautiful.” “So good for me, taking all my cum, my good girl.”
-He was SO excited when you both found out. The two of you both suspected you might be pregnant, so you took a test and decided to look at it at the same time. When you flipped it over and the two lines were clear as day, he was elated. He hugged you so tightly and even though he’s not an overly emotional guy, he cried tears of joy, and gave you so much praise. “You’re going to be the best mother.” “I love you.” “I can’t wait to do this with you.” Oh, and he’s thinking about how hot you’ll look pregnant.
-He immediately ordered a shit ton of books about pregnancy, fatherhood, babies, and everything.
-He thinks about different names all the time, too. He’d ask, “baby, what do you think of x as a name?”
-He goes to literally every appointment, ultrasound, and signs you up for a birthing class.
-NEEDS to find out the gender because he can’t not know. You’d do a little private thing, just the two of you. I picture one of those ones on the beach with a little cake and the wine glasses. No matter what you’d have, his reaction would be so precious. More hugs and tears, probably.
-He’s also kinda panicking because now he’s gonna be a literal father in charge of keeping another human alive. He is reading the books that he ordered religiously. He worries deep down that he’s not cut out to be a father.
-He proudly assembles all of the nursery furniture and makes sure it’s all safe.
-He takes up crocheting/knitting so that he can make socks, hats, a blanket, etc. for the baby. He goes kinda crazy with it, lol.
-He just wants to be a part of it all in any way that he can. He reads up on what you’re experiencing, is always asking how you’re feeling, wants to make sure you take all the vitamins you need, and takes part in your birthing class to ensure that he’ll be a supportive partner.
-He talks to your baby at night. “You have the best mom. She’s so pretty and so smart, you’ll see. You’re giving her kind of a hard time, though. It’s hard for her to sleep. Just keep still in there for a few hours, hm?”
-He is always encouraging you to try things out to make everything more comfortable for you, especially at the end.
-He talks about what the baby will look like and be like. You both agree on your eyes with his smile. You two take the opportunity to look at your own baby pictures. He’s a bit embarrassed at his, but he can’t get over how cute you were.
-Pregnancy sex, especially towards the end, is wild and constant. “I know you’re uncomfortable, baby. I read how we can induce labour, wanna give it a try?”
-He totally panics when you go into labour. He did pack your hospital bags long ago, but he gets all blushing and flustered.
-While you’re in labour, he gives you distance when you need it and is nearby when you need it.
-When your baby is born, he’d be crying so hard. Between your baby being here and how proud he is of you for going through labour, he’d be extremely emotional.
-He can’t believe how tiny the baby is, being totally in awe of their little hands and feet. He’s just in disbelief that you two made this sweet little baby.
-Afterwards, when you’re holding the baby, he says, “thank you for giving me him/her.”
-Even though he’s running on no sleep, he’d watch you sleep afterwards and come over to kiss your cheeks and forehead.
-He’s so proud to bring your visitors in. He’d by hyping you up to them, like, “she did such a good job, I’m so proud of her. She was so strong the whole time.”
-When you’re leaving the hospital, he’s beaming with pride to be able to look beside him and see you and your baby.
-When you’re in the car, he’d look in the mirror at you and your baby in the backseat, and say, “There’s nobody else I’d rather do this with, y/n. love you, baby.”

warnings: fluff of chris telling reader hes moving back to boston, and hes gonna be there for her and madi!!
word count: 1,111
part one | part two | part three | part four | part five
Tumblr media
you were sat in the living room of chris’ parents house, the same place where he broke up with you nearly 7 months ago. he had texted you the night prior, telling you to come by his place with madison, saying he apparently had something important to tell you.
you were sitting on the couch, feeding madi as she softly cooed in your arms, clinging to your necklace.
“wheres my baby?” you hear chris gently shout from the kitchen, making his way to the living room
you bite back a soft smile, glancing down at madi as her father enters the room, crouching down infront of you. “come ‘ere, baby girl” he softly whispers, his eyes full of love as he reaches for the baby. you gently hand her to him, your heart full of love and adoration.
“i, uh, i need to tell you something..” he mutters, looking up at you as he sits on the floor with madi
you hum, looking into his eyes.
“im moving back to boston.. me and nick and matt. we all are..” he quickly says, like hes been waiting to say it for ages.
“what.. what do you mean?” your voice is soft, nearly hesitant as you look at him
“i know were not technically together again.. yet.. but, madi needs me. i missed so much, the whole pregnancy, the birth, the first two weeks of her life, im her dad. and she needs me. and nick and matt, theyre her uncles. i already talked to them, were moving back home. LA doesnt need us. you do. madi does. we’ll keep the house in LA as like, a vacation house, or something, but were coming home.”
your face softens at his words, staring into his eyes. of course you still loved him, how couldnt you? but this just proved it even more. he was willing to do whatever it took to get you back, no matter how hard you resisted.
“chris, you cant.. you guys moved to LA for a reason, i.. your lives are there now. you have all your friends, and nicks only spacecamp office is there, the fresh love office is there, you.. i cant make you do that.” you whisper, your voice cracking.
“you are not making me do anything. i want to. i need to. madi’s my daughter. and you.. god, youre the love of my life. your the mother of my child, and i will always love you. im not asking you to get back together. not yet, at least. im telling you that im stepping up, and im gonna be a father to madi.”
tears threatened to spill down your cheeks, and you quickly blinked them away, trying to maintain your composure. madi let out a soft babble, completely unaware of the emotional weight filling the room. chris gently bounced her in his arms, his expression unwavering as he waited for you to process what he’d just said.
“you really mean this,” you whispered, more a statement than a question.
“with everything in me,” he assured, his voice steady and sure. “i’m done being halfway there for the people who matter most. madi deserves better, and so do you.”
the sincerity in his eyes made it impossible to doubt him. you’d spent so many months trying to rebuild yourself, trying to learn how to live without him. but hearing this—seeing him fight to be present, not just for madi but for you too—tugged at every guarded part of your heart.
“what if things don’t work out?” you asked quietly, voicing the fear you’d carried since he first walked away.
he exhaled softly, shifting madi so he could better meet your gaze. “then i’ll still be here. no matter what. not as your boyfriend, maybe not even as someone you love again. but always as her dad.”
his conviction broke something inside you, cracking the walls you'd built so carefully.
“and nick and matt are really okay with this?” you asked skeptically, needing to hear it one more time.
chris chuckled softly, a genuine sound that eased some of the tension in your chest. “more than okay. nick said madi already has his heart, she had it as soon as he found out you were pregnant. and matt? you know he pretends to be the tough guy, but you should’ve seen him when i asked him if we could all move back. practically packed his bags that night.”
you laughed despite yourself, a soft, breathless sound that mingled with the warmth building in your chest.
“you’re crazy, you know that?”
“crazy about you,” he said without hesitation, his lips quirking into a small, familiar smile.
the weight of everything lingered between you — the past mistakes, the heartbreak, and now, the tentative hope blooming in its place. maybe things weren’t fixed yet. maybe they never would be entirely. but this moment? it felt like a step toward something better.
“you better not screw this up again,” you whispered, half teasing, half serious.
“i won’t,” he promised, his voice low and resolute. “i swear, i won’t.”
and for the first time in what felt like forever, you believed him.
“you said youre keeping the LA house?”
he nods, looking up at him witha genuine look in his eyes.
“maybe.. if were all okay, and if me and you, if we ever get back together.. maybe we can move back out there? you know i loved that house, and you, nick, and matt, if youre keeping it, just as a vacation house for now, maybe when madis a bit older, we can move back out there?”
his eyes nearly fill with tears at that, youre small confession of maybe wanting to get back together with him nearly killing him. he instantly nods, shifting madi into one arm, reaching to hold your hand with his free hand.
“yes. please, yes. in two, three, four, hell, even five years, come back out to LA. all of my friends there miss you. and when they find out, and finally get to meet madi, theyll go crazy. please.” you peppers the back of your hand in kisses, looking into your eyes
your eyes well with tears, looking down at him with a genuine look as you whisper “i love you.”
“i love you too.”
“always have.”
“and i always will.”
and you knew that was it. that promise, the small saying, that to anyone else it would probably confuse, but that saying you and chris made up when you were fifteen. that promise to stick together forever, no matter what happens.
you loved him. and he loved you. you always had. and you always will.

what it means to stay
Author’s Note: sat down to write something 🤓, lost interest in the OG idea 😵‍💫, was about to play Sims 2 😅, and then suddenly felt inspired to write this instead! 🥳 What does it mean to stay? Aka — some hope, some angst, and some *ahem* 😏😏😏 unexpected sidetracking as well. 🤭
Tumblr media
what it means to stay
Kanroji Mitsuri x Reader, Rengoku Kyojuro x Reader, Shinazugawa Sanemi x Reader, Tomioka Giyuu x Reader
Word Count: ~900
CW: 18+NSFW, cream!pie, death content, explicit language
~faqs~
Tumblr media
“Do you have to leave?”
You raise an eyebrow
“Mitsuri…”
“I’ve invited you to move in a bajillion times. What’s stopping you?”
You sigh, “I love you.”
“And I love you!” she grins, “So stay!”
“I don’t want to intrude.” 😕
“Intrude on what? [y/n], I want you here.”
“But-”
“Do you not want to be here?”
She doesn’t seem hurt by that thought
Only curious
Considerate
Wanting to better understand you
Wanting to understand how to love you better
You take a breath
Another breath
A lonnng breath 😮‍💨
And then, you take a step
“I do want to be here.”
She waits
“Constantly.”
She nods
Encouragingly, adoringly, all in-ingly
“But what if I’m too much? What if you only want me here because I’m not here? What if once I’m here, you don’t want me here? What if you like the idea of here, but not actually here? What if-”
“What if you deserve to want things? What if you deserve to be wanted? And what if you want me? And what if I want you? What if that’s enough?”
Your heart beats in your throat
She smiles your favorite smile
The smile that tells you This is it baby, you and me 💞
“I’ll be here if you go. I know you’re not really leaving,” she winks, “I know you’ll be back tomorrow.”
She reaches for your hand, your grip on the doorknob loosening by the second
“But I’d love it, if you stayed.”
Tumblr media
“You’re leaving.”
Your stomach sinks when Kyojuro swivels to face you, the front door ajar as his expression shifts to something almost tender
And entirely regretful
“I am.”
“Was it something I did?” you murmur
“No-”
“Something I said?” you press
“Not re-”
“Something I didn’t do? Or didn’t say?”
Are you desperate or in love?
“[y/n]-”
Is there a difference anymore?
“Was it even about me?”
“No.’
The absence of fault does absolutely nothing to quell the swelling tightness in your chest
“I am going to leave you eventually.”
“Never!”
“Love,” his voice is low, “My dear, sweetest love,” pained, “My life is not my own.”
“What does that mean?!” you think you’re shrieking, indignant and fierce
Truthfully, you’re whispering
Numb and evaporating
“I will likely die.”
“Then die loving me.”
“You deserve a love that can live. A love that can last.”
You crumple, knees on the floor, butt on your heels, tears in your palms
“Don’t I deserve to choose?”
“I am so sorry.”
He’s wrong, of course
You knew it then
And some part of him knew it too; just not a big enough part
Your love does live
It does last
Many, many, many moons after he has passed
Tumblr media
“Where are you going?”
You hesitate at his tone, a simple To get us some water refusing to slip off your tongue
Silence
The floorboards creak as he sits up, eyes a discerning shade of wilted lavender
Minutes ago, they’d been watered and full of life
Minutes ago, you’d been straddling his hips, the prettiest expression you’ve ever seen splayed out before you as he came inside of you, the gentlest of hands clutching your waist, cock twitching and throbbing
Such a contrast from when they’d gripped your ass, spreading your cheeks as he fucked into your slick and sore pussy, chasing his orgasm with incoherent groans and whimpers, your back arched and mouth opened so pretty
“So that’s it.”
Your heart cracks at his indifference
“Sanemi-”
“Whatever.”
“You really think I’m leaving?” you ask, soft and aching, “Just like that?”
He frowns, “Hold up,” thoughts recalibrating, “I asked you-”
“I’m not going anywhere,” you interrupt, “Well. I mean. I’m going to get us some water. But,” you gulp down a fragile emotion, so eager to reassure—to love—the fracturing man in front of you, “Why on earth would I be going anywhere?”
He shrugs
“Because it was just sex.”
You smile despite yourself, clarity finally dawning
“Not to me,” you say firmly
He swallows thickly, throat bobbing as a lightness threatens to overcome his chest
“And not to you either,” you declare, “You’re stuck with me now.”
He doesn’t bother denying it as you blow him a kiss, only mostly starstruck as he makes a show of catching it and touching it to his cheek
I am so fucked he realizes as he watches you leave So fucking in love
Tumblr media
“What do you mean you’re leaving?”
Trust a man to announce that he’s up and running away as soon as you express even the slightest bit of frustration 😐
“You just said you’re stressed, cranky, sore, tired, upset, at the end of your rope, and that you want mochi… so I’m going to get mochi.”
Your thoughts might have been a tad harsh 😅
“Oh.”
“I’m not leaving leaving.”
“You’re not?” 🥺
“Of course not. Hold onto that end of your rope a little longer for me, ‘kay?”
“I’m sorry.”
“No need to be sorry. I love you. I’ll be back.”
Tomioka Giyuu, emotionally intelligent fellow that he is, returns with much more than mochi 🫡
“You’re actually the best.” 😍
He smiles softly at you from the bathroom doorway, your body submerged in a bubble bath, the candles on the vanity flickering as he makes his way to you
“ I know.” 😌
He even does a face mask with you

Home At Last
Tumblr media
Stray Kids x reader
Requested by anonymous: i have a request idea, if that's okay! 😋 how about the skz boys group-hugging their precious 9th member on stage after she gets emotional - because it's their first time ever performing at her home country (you can leave the country unspecified, so that everyone can relate better)? 🥹
“It’s wonderful to be back,” you say, fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. It’s cliché, but you don’t know what else to say. “Thank you all so much for coming! And it’s just-“
Your words catch in your throat. Minho shifts in place from beside you.
“This is what I worked for. To be able to get preform at home.” You glance out at the crowd. “And I love being able to share this moment with all of you. Thank you all for your support.”
Chan raises the microphone to his mouth as you lower yours. “I would like to thank you all for making such a wonderful member. She’s such a valued member of our group.”
Hyunjin grins. “Although she steals my moisturizer.”
The audience laughs. You elbow Hyunjin’s side teasingly, fighting down the wave of emotions.
“It’s been such an honour to have her,” Chan continues, flashing his dimples, “and I know her family is in the crowd, so I would like to thank you personally for letting her join. I know going such long time without seeing your family is tough, so thank you.”
You cover your face with your hands, embarrassed. You just know you’re going to have a bunch of texts about how sweet he is later.
“They were so happy to add my home as a tour location,” you happily say. It’s hard to keep your voice steady, overcome by your feelings. “So I hope to do my best and- and show you all it was worth it. I’m sorry for leaving.”
“Ah, I know how it feels.” Felix sighs heavily and puts his water bottle down. “I felt bad for leaving my family, as well. But they’re proud of me, just as I know your family is of you.”
“I’m proud of you!” Jeongin brightly says, sticking his hand up. The crowd roars a bit, clearly in awe of how adorable he is.
“Suck up,” Seungmin murmurs.
You snort in amusement and duck around a sweaty Changbin as he tries to throw his arm over your shoulder. “Ew! No!”
“Come here!” Changbin laughs, chasing you in circles around Jisung. Felix eventually takes pity on you and takes the majority of the blow, stepping in front of Changbin and getting the sticky hug.
Chan clears his throat. “Anyways, I hope all of you don’t hate me for taking such a beloved person from you. I know I would hate if anyone took her from us.”
You can feel the corners of your eyes pricking with the threat of tears. You smile sheepishly and shield your face with your hands.
“Speaking of taking things,” Hyunjin cuts in, “my moisturizer is pretty expensive.”
“Hush,” you tell him. “You have more of it.”
Minho sits, splaying his legs out. Jisung joins him on the ground, resting his head in his lap.
“Anything else to say?” Chan turns to you, expression soft.
Your lips wobble as you lift the microphone to your mouth. “Just that I’m so glad to finally preform at my home.”
Seungmin shoves you, and you’re about ready to snap at him, when you realize you’re falling into Jisung and Minho. They catch you and check that you’re okay before Changbin is heaving you to your feet.
You’re passed around, member to member, receiving a hug from each. You think your head is about to explode from how warm your cheeks feel, but you hope you look level-headed.
You finally reach Chan and let out a muffled sob against his chest. You take a deep breath before he releases you and everyone takes their places for the first song.
You exchange a look with Felix, who beams at you.
“We’ll have a proper cuddle pile later,” he promises.
Sorry this is so short, I’m sick right now. I keep waking up from fever-driven dreams about being stuck in a car seat flying through the sky. That thinking man statue keeps telling me I need to find a duck, so I’m about ready to not be sick anymore.

request idea? thinking about how Drew would drop everything for his girl ❤️‍🔥 like if she showed up at his house crying because she needs him (something with her parents or something? maybe they forgot something important to her)
and Drew is with his roommates or friends (who love the reader) but as soon as he sees his girl sad, he has a soft spot for her and for taking care of her 🫶🏼
⋆.˚ Warnings: none, pure fluff (still, read at own caution
ִ ࣪𖤐 a/n: enjoy! sry i haven't replied for so long, i was spending cny w/my family.
word count: 2.2k
──── 𝜗𝜚 ─────
The sound of the basketball game is practically vibrating through the walls—close to the end, with the score tied and everyone on edge.
Drew’s lounging on the couch, leaning back, eyes glued to the screen.
The room is full of his friends, all hyped up, throwing out their commentary and joking around. It’s guys’ night, and it’s a vibe they’re all soaking in.
Then the doorbell rings for the second time tonight, and Drew’s eyes flicker to the door.
"Did we order pizza? Again?" Drew asks.
“Dunno, man, check,” his friend says, not looking up from the game, clearly too invested.
Drew sighs, a little annoyed at the interruption, but his feet move automatically toward the door.
When Drew opens the door, he doesn’t see pizza.
He sees you.
His expression shifts instantly—his confusion giving way to something deeper.
Drew notices the smudge of mascara under your eyes first—the dark lines trailing down your cheeks. The rest of your makeup isn’t much better: foundation starting to fade where the tears have blurred it, the eyeliner long gone from where it used to frame your eyes.
His heart skips a beat. The noise from the game and his friends’ laughter suddenly feel miles away, as if the room has gone quiet in an instant.
Then, through your teary eyes and blushed cheeks, you give him a smile. It’s weak, almost forced, but you try. You shrug your shoulders, like you're attempting to downplay whatever’s hurting you.
“Hey, Joseph,” you say, your voice cracking just enough that Drew hears it. Your smile fades, and the act you’re trying to put on crumbles just a little.
Drew’s heart sinks. He knows you too well. The moment you said his name like that—broken and vulnerable—he realizes just how much you’re holding back.
Without a word, Drew steps closer.
The easy-going grin he had on earlier is gone. His brows furrowed with concern as he reaches for you, hands cupping your cheeks.
He holds you gently, but firmly—like he's grounding you, keeping you steady.
His gaze softens, and he watches, helpless for a second, as the first tear escapes and trails down your cheek. His heart aches seeing you like this.
His eyes never leave yours, and there’s an unspoken promise in them—I’m here. I’m not going anywhere.
When you speak again, the apology slips out almost before you can stop it. “I’m sorry…” you start, feeling bad for interrupting his night with his friends.
“Don’t. Don’t apologize.” He says, as if he’s trying to erase that sense of guilt before it can settle in.
He gives you a small, almost imperceptible shake of his head, “don’t ever apologize for needing me.”
He takes a moment, watching your eyes carefully, making sure you understand that he means it. There’s no disappointment in his gaze—only warmth, care, and an overwhelming need to protect you from whatever’s hurting.
Your eyes flicker away, sparkling with unshed tears as you struggle to catch your breath, trying to muffle the cries threatening to break free.
“It’s just- it’s just my parents-“
Your words falter as his friends cheer loudly in the background, their excitement rising with each point scored in the game.
Drew notices immediately—your discomfort, the way you're struggling to open up in this moment—and it hits him: you’re still standing out in the hallway, exposed to everything.
“Let’s, let’s get inside,” he murmurs. He doesn’t need to say more than that—his hands move to your shoulders, guiding you toward his room, tell you everything.
His friends, too absorbed in the game, don’t notice the subtle shift in the air. They’re still yelling at the screen, completely oblivious to the fact that his girlfriend has showed up crying.
As he leads you down the hall, you finally feel the air change—calmer, quieter.
The second the door of Drew’s room closes behind you, the outside world fades.
Unknowingly, you’ve sat down at the edge of his bed, the soft mattress dipping under your weight.
Drew quietly moves around his room, as he finds a box of tissues on his dresser. He doesn’t take his eyes off you, though—watching the way you sit, the way your shoulders shake with each breath, how your chest rises and falls, unevenly.
Once he hands it to you, Drew settles beside you. His arm slides around your shoulders, pulling you closer but not forcing you.
He listens carefully to the soft hiccups that escape from you, tiny gasps caught in the air.
He just continues to rub gentle circles on your back, his touch light and comforting.
Finally, Drew speaks, but it is barely above a whisper, “what’s wrong?”
You grab a tissue, dabbing your cheeks where the mascara has ran down.
When you see the dark spots on the tissue, your chest tightens. The tears come faster now, and you let out a shaky breath between sobs, “now my makeup’s ruined!”
Drew can’t help but chuckle lightly at your reaction, the sound soft and gentle. His hand, still resting around your shoulders, takes the tissue from your trembling fingers.
With a small, reassuring smile, he dabs at your cheeks, wiping away the smudged makeup with care.
“Don’t, don’t worry about that,” he says quietly.
The tenderness in his words feels like a balm to your frayed nerves, and for a moment, it’s the only thing grounding you.
As you look up at him, your breath catching in your throat, you notice how close he is.
His face is inches from yours, and his eyes hold nothing but softness, nothing but a promise of comfort. His hand lingers at your cheek, his thumb brushing against your skin like it’s the most natural thing in the world.
“I…i had dinner with my parents,” you start.
“I know,” he murmurs softly, his gaze never leaving yours. He'd seen the date marked on his calendar weeks ago, the reminder of your private dinner with your parents, and he had known it might be a tough night for you.
It was a dinner just for you and them—an attempt to reconnect, to have a moment where things might feel normal again. But Drew knew, from the way you’d talked about it in passing, that it wasn’t going to be easy.
“They still think, I made a huge mistake,” your voice cracks once again, and you swallow hard, as if trying to force the pain down, but it’s no use. It bubbles up too quickly.
Drew knows exactly what you mean. He remembers you telling him about dropping out in the middle of your final year. How it had been a decision made for yourself, even if your parents couldn’t understand it.
Drew watches you quietly for a moment, then speaks softly, “You did what was right for you. If they don’t get it, that’s on them, not you. Who cares what they think?”
He gives you a small, reassuring smile, before adding on, “you should see yourself through my eyes. You’re beautiful, smart, and more than enough as you are. You don't need a...certificate to prove that.”
His words settle over you, and for a moment, you feel your heart soften at the quiet sincerity in his voice. But you quickly look away, feeling a bit shy under his gaze.
“Yeah, well…” you mutter, “we got into this huge fight, and I just stormed out- and look where I am. Ruining your - your guys’ night.”
“No, no,” Drew immediately interrupts, “you’re not ruining anything.”
Then, unexpectedly, without missing a beat, Drew throws the tissue in his hand toward the trash can in the far corner, and you watch, distracted by the sudden movement.
You can’t help but let out a small chuckle when he makes a perfect shot, the tissue landing neatly inside with a satisfying swish.
Drew turns toward you, his smile both confused and amused, clearly unsure of what exactly made you laugh but happy to see you smile. “What?” he asks, his voice still holding that easy charm.
You stare at him for a moment, your eyes catching on his lips, the way they curve just slightly in that grin, and for a fleeting second, the urge to kiss him overwhelms you.
It’s like everything else in the room fades away, and it’s just the two of you in this small, quiet moment.
Your breath catches in your chest, and before you can even think, the space between you seems to vanish.
Without a word, you lean in, your eyes fluttering shut, letting instinct take over. His hand gently cups your cheek, warm against your skin, as he tilts your head just slightly.
And then, you feel it—his lips against yours, and everything feels…right.
The kiss is calming, full of quiet affection—comforting in a way that eases all the tension, like a safe place where nothing else matters.
You could taste your own tears, salty on your lips, but somehow they only make the moment feel more real—more human. There’s something about the way Drew holds you, his lips soft and patient, as if he's absorbing all your hurt without needing to speak.
You pull away just briefly, catching your breath, but before you can even fully regain yourself, Drew leans in again, this time with urgency, as if he needs this kiss more than you.
His lips press against yours, deeper this time, gentle but insistent. His hand moves to your back, pulling you closer as if he’s anchoring himself to you, or to this moment.
You smile against his lips, hands wrapping around his neck.
You want to push him against his bed, take him right there, show him how appreciative you are of him, but seems like, the rest of the world wants him too.
The sound of his friends cheering from outside breaks through the moment, reminding you that Drew has guests over, and this isn't just your time with him.
You pull away, resting your forehead against his, closing your eyes for just a moment to catch your breath.
When you reopen your eyes, you find Drew’s gaze already on you—soft, steady, and full of something unspoken. There’s a quiet intensity in the way he looks at you, like he’s taking in every detail, as if he’s memorizing this moment, just as you are.
“You have- you have people, in the other room,” to your own surprise, you’re stuttering. You pull your head away slightly, finding the fun in tracing the line of his jaw.
“I wanna stay here,” he murmurs, his voice thick with something you can’t quite place, but you feel it in your chest, a quiet certainty.
He doesn’t break his stare, and in that moment, it’s like he’s asking you to stay with him too—not just in this room, but in everything he’s feeling, everything you’re both sharing.
“Ask them to leave,” you whisper back, a small smile tugging at your lips, though the words are more playful than serious.
You both know it’s not that simple.
“Join me,” he says, referring to his guys' night, to his friends in the living room.
“Well, at least let me... change, and redo my makeup.”
“I don’t know…” he lets his words trail off, his eyes scanning your features with mischief lurking in them, “they might like- like having a panda around.”
You roll your eyes, but the corners of your mouth twitch, unable to hide the small smile. You hear Drew’s throaty laugh escape his lips, a sound that makes your heart skip.
“Alright, just… take your time,” he says, his playful tone softening as he presses a gentle kiss to your forehead, his lips lingering just a moment longer than expected, like he wants to make sure you feel it.
You watch him, your chest warming at the gesture, as he moves across the room to his dresser.
He pulls it open, rummaging through his clothes, and then, almost casually, he grabs the hoodie you recognize to be 'yours'. It’s his, but with how often you wear it, it’s practically yours now.
Then, in one smooth motion, he opens the top drawer and takes out your shorts, underwear, and bra. He places them beside you, not even needing to say anything—just a small, thoughtful gesture that tells you he knows exactly what you need, even before you ask for it.
You look up at him, surprised by the simplicity of it, but somehow it feels even more intimate than words could say. It’s the way he just gets you, without needing to make a big deal of it.
And because it felt right, you whisper, “I love you.”
Drew’s gaze softens, the teasing smile melting away into something more sincere. His eyes hold yours as he says, “I love you more,” his voice quiet but filled with warmth.
There’s no playfulness now—just honesty, raw and real.
“…now get out of here,” you tease, the corners of your lips lifting into a smirk.
He leans forward, his finger lightly tapping your forehead in a playful push, “so eager to get rid of me?”
“Yes,” you whisper back, and he smiles, shaking his head.
With one last glance, he turns and walks to the door.
And once the door closes behind him, you’re left with a warm feeling in your chest—safe, loved, and entirely at peace.

River Maiden Pt. 9
Tumblr media
Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7, Part 8,
(A/N: is Telephone technically a Monsterfucker in this story? I mean, Penelope's Half Nymph so he got it from Odysseus. : ))
"I don't know what to do..." (Y/N) mutters, her head on Penelope's lap as they're in the Queen's Quarters, they're meant to start another lesson, but they've postpone it for now.
"It's a difficult situation, isn't it?" Penelope replied, gently stroking her hair. "You want to be honest with Telemachus, but you fear how he would react to the truth."
"Don't you hate me, Mother? How Poseidon was the reason why it took your husband to get home 10 more years after the war?." (Y/N) asked in worry, tearing up at her.
"Oh, my dear child," Penelope's tone was tender as she gently wiped away (Y/N)'s tears. "I could never hate you. You are not responsible for the actions of your father. You deserve love and acceptance just like anyone else."
"But...I'm scared to tell Telemachus." (Y/N) professes, leaning onto the comforting woman's hand.
"I'm scared of how he'll react, will he look at me with disdain, blame me for Poseidon's action, or be disgusted for bedding a monster." (Y/N) ponders, tears streaming from her eyes.
"Shhh," Penelope hushes her, gently stroking her hair again. "You cannot control what Telemachus will think or feel when he learns the truth. But if he truly loves you, he will see past your heritage and understand that you are your own person, separate from the actions of your father."
She gave (Y/N) a reassuring smile. "I have faith in Telemachus. He is a good man, and he has already shown how much he cares for you."
"But...what about your husband?." (Y/N) frowns once more, looking onto the ground.
"He might end our engagement..."
Penelope chuckles, a fond smile tugging at her lips. "(Y/N), did you truly think Telemachus would allow anything to come between him and you? He is practically obsessed with you. He would fight off an army of Cyclopes if it meant keeping you safe and by his side."
"But...He practically idolized his Father, he just had the chance to get to know him, I don't want to get in the way of it." (Y/N) added with a worried look.
Penelope shook her head, placing a gentle hand on Egeria's shoulder.
"You're not going to get in the way of anything. Telemachus loves you, and that won't change once he learns about your heritage. Yes, he idolized his father, and he still does to an extent, but he is his own person now.
"He's grown up, had his own experiences and formed his own opinions and values. He's not going to simply abandon you because of something you have no control over."
(Y/N) looks at her, speechless, before she could say something to Penelope, someone knocked at the door.
Penelope looked at (Y/N) fondly before turning toward the door. "Come in." she called out gently.
(Y/N) wiped away her tears, trying to look halfway decent.
A servant entered the room.
"Queen Penelope, King Odysseus is requesting Lady (Y/N)'s presence." The servant relays, shocking (Y/N).
"Very well. (Y/N), it seems the King wants to speak with you." Penelope gently nudged her.
(Y/N) could only look at Penelope in worry, before following the servant.
As (Y/N) followed the servant through the palace halls, her mind raced with anxiety and questions. What could Odysseus possibly want to talk to her about? Was it about Telemachus?
Finally, they reached Odysseus's study, and the servant opened the door, gesturing for her to enter
As (Y/N) entered the room, she noticed how very different it was to the Queen's Quarters, weapons, maps, and armour, she could almost hear their stories.
Odysseus was sitting at his desk, shuffling through some maps and documents. He looked up as (Y/N) entered, his gaze sharp.
"Close the door." He commanded the servant.
The heavy oak door shut with a resounding thud, leaving (Y/N) alone with Odysseus.
(Y/N) stood in the middle of his study, holding her hands in front of her.
"You wished to see me, Sir?" (Y/N) asked, a bit nervous
Odysseus leaned back in his chair, studying (Y/N) intently. "Yes, I did. Have a seat."
He gestured to the chair across from his desk, his expression unreadable.
As (Y/N) sat in front of Odysseus, on his desk is a Latrunculi board with it's pieces in place, making (Y/N) curious.
As she looked down at the Latrunculi board on the desk, she couldn't help but wonder why it was there. The game was a strategic one that required foresight and planning.
Odysseus noticed her gaze and a half smile played across his lips.
"Do you play Latrunculi?" He asked, his tone almost casual.
"My Aunt taught me, as well as I had a few games with my...Cousins" (Y/N) answers, a bit reluctantly
Odysseus nodded, noticing (Y/N)'s hesitation.
"Ah, so you have some experience with strategy and tactics, then." he said, leaning back in his chair. "You see, this game is not just about making random moves. It's about understanding your opponent, anticipating their moves, and making calculated decisions."
He gestured towards the board. "The pieces may appear small, but their positions and moves have a significant impact on the outcome of the game. Each choice you make can either bring you closer to victory or lead you to defeat."
Odysseus leaned forward, a gleam of challenge in his eyes. "I have a proposal. Would you like to play a game of Latrunculi with me?"
"Of course sir, do excuse me for I'm a bit rusty." (Y/N) admits with a nervous smile.
Odysseus chuckled, gesturing to the board. "Oh, don't worry about it. I'm in the mood for a game myself."
He moved a piece on the board, making what seemed to be a bold but well-placed opening move. "Your move."
(Y/N) moves a man as her starting move
Odysseus watched as (Y/N) made her move, his eyes narrowing in thought. He studied the board for a moment, considering his options.
"Not a bad opening move," he commented with a hint of surprise in his tone. "Looks like you remember a thing or two about the game."
"It's only a start, Sir." (Y/N) points out with a smile, before moving another man.
Odysseus nodded, his expression focused as he considered his next move.
"Indeed, the game is only beginning." He studied the board, his mind working to anticipate (Y/N)'s strategy. After a moment, he moved one of his men, initiating a counterattack.
(Y/N) noticed his moves, before doing the unexpected, moving her Dux (General), early in the game, trapping and capturing two of his men at once.
Odysseus's eyes widened in surprise at her unexpected move. He had not anticipated her making such a bold and strategic play so early in the game.
"Well, look at you," he said with a hint of admiration, "that was quite a risky move. And it looks like it paid off. You just captured two of my men in one turn."
"It was only a quick strategy, Sir." (Y/N) smiled sheepishly.
Odysseus chuckled, shaking his head.
"You're being too modest. That was more than just a 'quick strategy.' It was a well-calculated move, and it left me two pieces down."
He studied the board, taking stock of his remaining pieces and formulating a plan.
"You're quite the competitor, aren't you?" Odysseus said with a hint of respect in his tone as he continued to study the board. "We're only a few moves in, and you're already putting me at a disadvantage."
Odysseus's expression turned serious as he focused on the board, his eyes scanning the pieces. He made his next move, a strategic one that not only defended his remaining men but also threatened (Y/N)'s.
Odysseus continued his assault, carefully maneuvering his men around (Y/N)'s, boxing her in and limiting her options. He was a skilled player, and he was determined to turn the tables on her.
"You see, in the game of Latrunculi, as in life, it's not just about making the moves that feel good or seem easy. It's about being able to adapt, to think several steps ahead, and to make sacrifices when necessary.
"You can't be afraid to take risks, even if it means losing a few pieces along the way. Sometimes, the most strategic move is to sacrifice a man to capture the Dux."
(Y/N) tries to navigate her troupe, backing her Dux and spreading out her men, but before she knew it, she's already in a corner, with Odysseus's own men and Dux cornering her.
"I knew I was rusty." (Y/N) sighs in defeat.
Odysseus chuckled, pleased with his victory.
"You played well, considering how 'rusty' you claim to be," he said with a smirk. "But you made a crucial mistake. You let yourself get cornered, and once you're corned in this game, it's difficult to escape."
(Y/N) looks at him in a bit of suspicion.
"This isn't about the game, isn't it, Sir?" She asked, ready for his interrogation.
Odysseus leaned back in his chair, studying (Y/N)'s expression. He could tell she suspected his true intent behind inviting her to play.
"Very perceptive of you," he said with a wry smile. "No, this wasn't just about the game. There's something else I wanted to discuss with you, something of a more...personal nature."
(Y/N)'s heart skipped a beat, her curiosity piqued. She had a feeling she knew what he wanted to talk about, but she remained silent, waiting for him to continue.
"I won't beat around the bush," Odysseus said bluntly, his gaze fixed on (Y/N). "I've noticed the way my son looks at you, the way he hangs on your every word. He's enamored with you, that much is clear. And as his father, I feel it's my responsibility to look out for him, to make sure he's not making any mistakes."
"I understand, As his bethrode I'll answer every question you ask to the best of my abilities." (Y/N) answers, her hands on her lap.
Odysseus's expression softened slightly, appreciating her sincerity. He leans forward, placing his hands on the desk.
"Good," he said, nodding. "That's what I wanted to hear. But before we get into that, I need to know for certain. Are you truly fond of Telemachus? Is your affection for him genuine?"
"Honestly sir, I didn't know how I lived before him, but he's everything I could ever ask for, his sweet, sensitive, thoughtful, and caring, a rarity among men, I'd lose my mind if I lost him." (Y/N) answers honestly with a blush (🙃)
Odysseus studied (Y/N)'s face, searching for any hint of insincerity. But all he saw was honesty and a genuine affection in her eyes. He could tell that she cared deeply for Telemachus, and it brought a small measure of reassurance to him as a father.
A wave of nostalgia washed over him. Her words reminded him of the younger version of himself, hopelessly in love with Penelope and willing to do anything for her. He couldn't help but see the similarities and feel a strange sense of familiarity.
"Your affection for my son, it's..." Odysseus trailed off for a moment before continuing, his gaze softening. "It's almost a mirror image of how I felt about his Mother, years ago. It's hard to deny that you genuinely care for him."
"Oh..." (Y/N) blushes, looking onto the ground shyly.
Odysseus chuckled softly, noticing her bashfulness.
"No need to be embarrassed," he said with a small smile. "It's a good thing, you know. Caring for someone deeply is a powerful feeling, and it can make all the difference in life."
His expression turned more serious.
"But, love and affection aside, there's another aspect I need to discuss with you."
(Y/N) looked up, her curiosity piqued once more. She had an idea of what he was going to ask next, but she waited for him to continue, mentally bracing herself.
"Your past," Odysseus began, his eyes fixed on her. "I know you haven't always been forthcoming about it, and there are things you've kept from Telemachus."
He leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.
"I need to know the truth. Who are you really, (Y/N)? And what are you hiding?"
(Y/N)'s smile tightens, her eye twitching before coughing, dismissing her nervousness "W-well, Sir, as I've said before on our first meeting, I was born in Gibraltar under my Mother's care before her health declined, so my Aunt took me in and brought me to Athens, she's also a Teacher so she taught me everything I know, along with the different specialties of my Cousin, but my Aunt still has her own plights, as much as I want to stay with her, my Uncle, her husband, let's just say he isn't very...loyal, she already has too many on her plate so I decided I wanted to live on my own, in solitude.
Ithaca was the first choice with the lush greens and surrounded by water, but I later realized it wasn't that isolated..." (Y/N) tells her story, albeit vaguely.
Odysseus listened intently to (Y/N)'s story, his gaze sharp and observant. There were certain details and holes in her story that he picked up on, but he decided to focus on one particular thing she mentioned.
"You didn't mention your Father," he said quietly, his tone almost accusatory. "Why is that?"
"The Bastard can go screw himself." (Y/N) mutters harshly, surprising Odysseus.
"I-i mean, he isn't that much in the picture so I don't know him much." She tries to backtrack with a sheepish smile.
Odysseus raised an eyebrow, intrigued by (Y/N)'s sudden change in tone and the venom in her voice when talking about her Father. It was obvious there was animosity there, but he couldn't quite understand why.
"You seem to have quite a strong opinion of him," he observed, his gaze still fixed on her. "Yet you say you don't know him much. That's a rather conflicting statement, don't you think?"
(Y/N) looks at him in shock, before looking at her lap,her hand tightly clenched.
"He forced himself onto my mother..." (Y/N) admits with a frown.
Odysseus's expression darkened as (Y/N) revealed the truth about her Father. His hands clenched into fists, his knuckles turning white. He didn't like the sound of what she was insinuating.
"You mean..." he began, his voice a low rumble, "He...assaulted your mother?"
"I was the product of her defilement, as a child, I watched her degrade, crying herself to sleep, and the bastard didn't even bother checking on her or taking responsibility, he continued his life as usual, while I had to watch that beautiful woman self destruct." (Y/N) mutters, glaring onto her own hands.
Odysseus's heart ached for (Y/N) as she recounted her traumatic past. The disdain in her voice was palpable, and he could see the pain and hurt behind her words. He couldn't imagine how difficult it must have been for her to grow up under such circumstances.
"Your Father is a vile man," Odysseus spat out, his voice filled with disgust. "He didn't deserve to be called a Father, let alone sire a child."
"I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you, Sir. I was afraid you'd think I'm not the perfect match to your son with the circumstances of my birth." (Y/N) mutters with guilt.
Odysseus sighed, his initial anger cooling down into sympathy. He could see the shame and guilt in (Y/N) eyes, and he knew that she had carried a heavy burden with her for a long time.
"You don't need to apologize, (Y/N)" he said gently, his tone kinder now. "I can understand why you would keep such a thing to yourself, especially given the stigma surrounding your circumstances. But let me make one thing clear."
"The circumstances of your birth do not define you," Odysseus continued firmly. "You are more than just a victim of your Father's cruelty. You're a strong, intelligent, and kind-hearted young woman. Telemachus is lucky to have you as his betrothed, and nothing will change that."
"I must admit," he said thoughtfully, "I'm quite surprised at how you've taken to Telemachus so quickly. Considering the circumstances of your past, I would have expected you to be more guarded when it comes to matters of the heart."
"It's also one of the reasons why I wanted to live in isolation, but your son...is so different, he's not brash, not proud, not cocky, his caring, kind hearted, sensitive...everything that bastard could never be." (Y/N) mutters, not even realizing she's already swooning in the thought of Telemachus, snapping out of her daze.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to babble!"
Odysseus chuckled softly, amused by (Y/N)'s unabashed gushing about Telemachus. It was clear that she was completely smitten with his son.
"No need to apologize," he said, waving a hand gently. "You're in love, and Telemachus is a remarkable young man. I'm not surprised you can't help but gush about him."
He leaned back in his chair, a small smile on his lips.
"It's quite endearing, actually."
"But I have to ask," Odysseus continued, his tone becoming more serious again. "How do you think Telemachus would feel if he knew the truth about your past? About your Father?"
"I...I don't know..." (Y/N) admits, looking down onto her lap.
Odysseus was quiet for a moment, studying her expression. He could see the fear in her eyes, the worry at how Telemachus would react to the truth.
"You're afraid he'll reject you," he said bluntly, hitting the nail on the head. "You're afraid he won't be able to look at you the same way once he knows."
Egeria grew quite, biting her lip.
Odysseus's expression softened, his tone growing gentler.
"I understand your fear, (Y/N)," he said quietly. "But you can't keep something like this hidden forever. The truth has a way of coming out, and when it does, it's better that Telemachus hears it from you, rather than someone else."
He leaned forward, his gaze steady on her.
"You need to tell him."
"I don't know how, Sir." Odysseus's heart ached at the sight of (Y/N), the once confident and fiery young woman, now reduced to a trembling girl. He knew how much she cared for Telemachus, and he could see the fear in her eyes at the thought of losing him.
"(Y/N)," he said softly, his tone soothing. "I understand that it's difficult, but you can't keep something this important hidden forever. You need to be honest with Telemachus. You owe him that much."
"He loves you," Odysseus continued, his voice firm but kind. "And if he truly cares for you, he'll understand. But you have to give him the chance to understand. You can't let your fears hold you back."
He leaned back in his chair, his gaze still fixed on her.
"You're strong, (Y/N). You can do this."
She looks at him in shock, before sighing, smiling at Odysseus "Thank you for your advice, Sir." (Y/N) thanked him.
Odysseus nodded, a small smile on his face.
"Of course, (Y/N). But remember, this is something you need to do soon. The longer you wait, the harder it will be for the both of you."
He paused for a moment before speaking again.
"And (Y/N)?"
"Yes, Sir?" She asked, her attention fully on him.
Egeria looks at him, before smiling brightly at him "Thank you, Sir." (Y/N) thanked him one last time, before leaving his study, looking for Telemachus in the courtyard, training once more.
As Egeria made her way to the courtyard, she spotted Telemachus in the midst of a training session. He was drenched in sweat, his muscles straining as he wielded his sword with precision and power.
(Y/N) stood at the edge of the courtyard, watching him for a few moments, admiring the grace and strength with which he moved. It stirs something..sinful inside her, watching his sweat roll down body, every grunt as he swung his sword, but her fantasies have to wait at a later time.
Just as she was about to approach him, it suddenly...rained.
"What?" (Y/N) held out her hand, catching a few rain drops, before she felt something familiar in this brewing storm.
"No...it can't be..."
Meanwhile
Odysseus is in his study, cleaning up the Lactruculi pieces, before he noticed it started raining outside, this rain seems familiar, he looks outside the palace where it has the view of the beach...his heart dropped.
There stood...Poseidon.
Odysseus's heart pounding in his chest. Poseidon's presence sent a wave of unease through him, but he knew he had to face the god once again.
He steeled himself, taking a deep breath before stepping out of the palace and onto the beach where he found himself face to face face with the lord of the sea.
"Poseidon," Odysseus said coolly, his voice steady despite the churning emotions he felt inside. "What brings you here?"
Poseidon regarded him with a steely glare, his eyes narrowing in anger.
"You know why I'm here, Odysseus," he replied, his voice booming with authority. "Your arrogance and defiance has not gone unnoticed."
"But don't worry, I'm not here for you." Poseidon looks around, scanning the palace.
"Where is she?"
Odysseus's heart skipped a beat as he heard Poseidon's question.
"Who?" he asked, trying to hide the worry in his voice. He had a feeling he already knew who he was talking about, but he needed to be sure.
"A brat of mine who snuck into your kingdom, I usually don't care about any of them but this one's...a special case." Poseidon vaguely answers with a crude smile
Odysseus's gut twisted at Poseidon's words. He knew who he spoke of.
"(Y/N)," he muttered, but loud enough for Poseidon to hear.
"So that's her name, (Y/N)." Poseidon mutters in thought, pacing around on the sand.
"Good enough of a name, I guess, and I could only guess she didn't even bother telling you her story." Poseidon smirked, taunting Odysseus in his foolishness.
Odysseus tensed up, but he tried to keep his composure. He knew what Poseidon was doing, but he couldn't let his anger get the better of him.
"She's under my protection now," Odysseus said firmly. "Whatever grievances you have with her, you'll have to get through me first."
"Oh, I don't have any grievances with her, she's mine after all." Poseidon stated, before telling a chilling statement.
"I'm taking her now"
Odysseus's blood ran cold at Poseidon's statement. He couldn't let him take (Y/N), not after everything she had been through.
"No," he said firmly, his grip on his sword tightening. "You're not taking her anywhere."
Poseidon chuckled darkly, amused by Odysseus's defiance.
"You really think you can stop me, little king?" he taunted. "I am a god, and she is mine to do with as I please."
Odysseus gritted his teeth, his resolve steeling. He knew what he was up against, but he couldn't let (Y/N) bear the consequences of Poseidon's cruel desires.
"You may be a god, but I'm not going to let you hurt her," he retorted, his voice filled with determination. "You'll have to go through me first."
Poseidon smirked, his eyes gleaming cruelly.
"And so it shall be," he snarled, his hand reaching towards the sea, the waters rising and beginning to churn viciously. "You may think you stand a chance, but you're just a mortal, and I am a god of the sea. Do you truly think you can defeat me?"
The sea roared in fury as Poseidon drew power from the depths, unleashing a brutal barrage of attacks on Odysseus.
Before Odysseus could draw his blade, the gushing waters paused in place, stopping in front of him, before it burst into nothing.
"Enough" a cold voice orders behind Odysseus, as (Y/N) walked past him, the waters churning around her, glaring at Poseidon.
Odysseus was stunned, the waters obeying her command. He had never seen such power emanate from her before.
Poseidon's gaze hardened as he shifted his attention to (Y/N).
"(Y/N)," he said, his voice a mixture of irritation and...pride. "You've grown stronger."
"Spare me your adulation, it's disgusting hearing it from you." (Y/N) stops him in his tracks, glaring at him.
"What do you want?"
Poseidon's expression darkened at (Y/N)'s sharp tone.
"I've come to take you back, of course," he replied matter-of-factly. "You're my brat, and you belong to the sea."
"Why now? You didn't even spare me as much of a glance when I was under Hera's care, you looked at me with disgust, why should I believe I belong with you?." (Y/N) snapped back at him, the waters around her rising.
Poseidon sneered, his irritation growing at her defiance.
"You're still a mouthy little thing, I see," he grumbled. "I may have looked at you with disgust, that was because I wasn't ready to acknowledge you then, but now...I see potential in you."
"No, no you don't, I don't believe you, I think you're only using me as an excuse, because you can't get over the fact that Odysseus had bested you at your own game." (Y/N) insulted, continuing her glare of him
Poseidon's expression darkened even further, anger now blazing in his eyes. He was not used to being insulted, especially not by his own child.
"Do you have any idea who you're speaking to, girl?" he growled, his voice booming with authority, sending waves after her. "I am the lord of the sea! You should show me some respect!"
"All I see is a bastard who can't get over his lost, the same bastard who destroyed my mother." (Y/N) insulted once more, before stopping Poseidon's waves
Poseidon's anger turned to full-blown rage at Egeria's words, his face contorting in fury.
"How dare you speak to me like that, you insolent little brat!" he roared, his voice thundering across the beach. "You have no right to judge me or my actions! I am a god, and you are just a mortal, never forget your place!"
As (Y/N) and Poseidon clashed, their battle shaking the very earth. The water and the earth collided fiercely and neither backed down to the other. Poseidon was filled with rage while (Y/N) held a calm gaze.
Odysseus watched them from the sidelines, torn between worry and awe.
The sea raged around them, responding to (Y/N)'s control as she fought against her father's relentless assault. Poseidon was filled with a mix of anger and grudging respect for his daughter's power, while (Y/N) fought with a cool determination, never faltering.
But someone can falter it.
Telemachus sprinted towards the beach, panic etched on his face as he saw the intense battle unfolding before him. Without hesitation, he ran towards (Y/N) and Poseidon.
Odysseus's eyes widened in alarm as he saw Telemachus rushing towards the fighting and he called out to him, "Telemachus! Wait! Don't-"
Poseidon looks at the running Prince, before smirking at (Y/N), his water arm grew in size, reaching for the Prince.
"TELEMACHUS!" Telemachus's heart seized in terror as he saw the water hand reach for him, but before it could grab him, (Y/N) pushed him away, taking the hand's grasp herself.
"No!" Telemachus shouted. "(Y/N)!"
"Get out of here! Please, I'll be fine!" (Y/N) begs, struggling in Poseidon's hold.
Telemachus hesitated, torn between the desire to run away and the need to help (Y/N). He looked at her, struggling in Poseidon's grasp, and his heart ached at her plea.
"I can't just leave you!" he protested, his voice filled with desperation.
Poseidon smirked at Telemachus's plea, the sound of his despair music to his ears.
"Oh, how sweet, the prince is for his princess," he mocked, his grip on (Y/N) tightening. "But you can't help her, boy. She's mine, and there's nothing you can do to stop me."
"Why are you taking her!? She has nothing to do with you!" Telemachus screamed, watching her squirm in Poseidon hold, struggling.
"Nothing to do with her? My, She didn't tell you as well?" Poseidon taunted with a smirk.
Telemachus's confusion deepened at Poseidon's words.
"What do you mean? Tell me what?" Telemachus demanded, his gaze filled with a mixture of anger and desperation.
She watched him with a helpless expression, her struggles growing weaker as Poseidon's grip tightened.
"This one is my kin, my daughter." Poseidon shook her in front of Telemachus like a doll, as she could only look at him in shame.
Telemachus's eyes widened in utter shock, his mind struggling to process Poseidon's words.
"Your...daughter? But... but that means..." Telemachus's voice trailed off as he looked at (Y/N), a mix of realization and disbelief on his face.
"Is it true?" he asked her softly, his expression torn between confusion and concern.
(Y/N) looks at him in shame, tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry, my Love." She apologizes, before being pulled away from him.
"Yeah, yeah, enough with the sappy sentiments." Poseidon rolls his eyes as she continues to struggle in his hold.
Telemachus watched she being pulled away from him, his heart sinking. He couldn't believe he had fallen so madly in love with the daughter of the king of the seas.
"No, wait! You can't take her!" Telemachus protested, trying to move closer to them.
"Why? You actually love this halfbreed of mine?" Poseidon waves her around in front of him like a toy, as she continued to struggle
Telemachus's face contorted with anger and helplessness.
"Yes, I do! She may be your daughter, but that doesn't change the fact that I love her!" Telemachus retorted, his voice filled with passion.
(Y/N) felt a jolt of surprise at Telemachus's declaration of love before looking at him with a mixture of guilt and longing, while Poseidon simply chuckled at the prince's words.
"Love? Ha! You think you love her? You don't even know her, you fool! You don't know what she really is!" Poseidon taunted, his grip on her tightening as he spoke, making her grunt.
Telemachus's face grew even more determined at Poseidon's taunts. He knew he didn't fully understand who (Y/N) was, but he also knew deeply that he loved her.
"It doesn't matter! I love her, and I refuse to let you take her away from me!" Telemachus retorted, his voice firm despite the fear he felt.
Poseidon chuckled at Telemachus's defiance, his expression growing sly.
"You love her, huh? Well, what if I proposed a little challenge then?" he suggested, his grip on (Y/N) loosening slightly.
"No! Telemachus! I'll be fine-" Before (Y/N) could protest, her head was shoved into the water hand.
"Relax, this one can breathe under water...I think." Poseidon mutters the last part to himself, as (Y/N) pounded at the surface of it.
Telemachus's heart raced at the sight of (Y/N) head being shoved underwater. But before he could panic further, he heard Poseidon's reassurance that she could breathe underwater. Nonetheless, Telemachus's mind raced with worry.
"What kind of challenge?" Telemachus asked, his voice shaky but resolute.
"Go to my own home turf, the Aegean Sea, come give your in law a visit and it'll be a leveled playing field, for me of course, if you win, She's all yours, and if you lose, I'll turn this halfbreed into seafoam." Poseidon challenges with a smirk.
"And don't even think about not coming at all, because I'll simply turn her into seafoam as well."
Telemachus's heart felt like it was going to explode. He was being challenged to a battle he had no chance of winning. But if he didn't accept, (Y/N) would be turned into seafoam...
"Fine," Telemachus agreed through gritted teeth. "I'll go to the Aegean Sea. But if I win, you let (Y/N) go."
(Y/N) banged on the surface of the hand, shaking her head, begging for him not to accept the challenge
"Excellent, that, if you win of course." Poseidon taunted with a smile, before slowly walking back to the sea, make his point.
Telemachus watched Poseidon walk towards the sea, his mind racing. He knew he had no chance of winning the upcoming battle, but he had no choice. He couldn't let (Y/N) be turned into seafoam.
Suddenly, with a dagger lent to her by Ioannis, she broke the water surface, screaming at him.
"Telemachus! I'm sorry I didn't tell you! Don't come for me! Please! Stay ali-" before (Y/N) could finish what she's saying, she already pulled into the ocean with Poseidon, disappearing into the seas.
"(Y/N)!" Telemachus shouted, his voice filled with desperation. The sight of (Y/N) being pulled into the sea, disappearing from his sight, was unbearable. He ran towards the edge of the shore, his heart racing with panic and helplessness.
"No! No! Bring her back!" Telemachus screamed, unable to contain his anguish. He was torn between anger at Poseidon and guilt for accepting the challenge.
Odysseus, who had watched the scene unfold in horror, pulled Telemachus into his arms. He held him tightly, trying to offer some comfort in the midst of the chaos.
Telemachus, still reeling from the shock of what just happened, pushed Odysseus away.
"Let go of me! I have to go after her!" Telemachus protested, his voice choked with emotion.
"You know you can't do that, my boy," Odysseus replied, his voice firm but filled with empathy. "Poseidon has her now, and there's no way you can fight him in his own domain."
"But I can't just sit here and do nothing!" Telemachus protested, his eyes filled with desperation. "I love her, Father. I can't let her be taken away from me."
Odysseus sighed, his heart breaking for his son. He knew how much Telemachus loved (Y/N), and the pain of being separated from her must be unbearable.
Odysseus took a deep breath and began to speak, his voice tinged with a mix of empathy and skepticism.
"Telemachus," he began, his grip on his son's shoulders tight but gentle. "I know you love (Y/N), but you have to consider the possibility that she may have been tricking you this entire time."
Telemachus looked at his father in shock, his heart clenching at the implication. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"(Y/N) is Poseidon's daughter," Odysseus explained. "It's possible that she's been playing a role all along, manipulating your feelings for her to serve her father's purposes."
"No," Telemachus protested, his mind unwilling to accept the idea. "She couldn't have been faking her feelings for me. I know she loves me, Father. I can feel it in my heart."
Odysseus sighed, his heart heavy with the burden of uncertainty. "The heart can be deceived, my son. You have to consider the possibility that her love for you may have been part of a ruse to manipulate and control you."
Telemachus shook his head, his expression pained but resolute. "I can't believe you're saying this, Father. (Y/N) loves me, I know it. I saw it in her eyes, I felt it in her touch. How can you doubt that?"
Odysseus placed a hand on Telemachus's shoulder, his gaze filled with compassion. "I'm not doubting your feelings for her, my boy. I'm just asking you to consider the possibility that she may have had ulterior motives all along. After all, she's the daughter of Poseidon, and who knows what schemes the gods have in store for mortals like us."
"What's going on here?" Penelope asked in worry, walking into the beach towards her husband and son.
"There was a storm and it suddenly disappeared, what happened?" Penelope asked once more, looking at Odysseus for answers.
Odysseus took a deep breath before turning to his wife. He knew he had to tell her what had happened, but he also knew it would not be easy.
"It's... complicated, my love," he started, his voice heavy with a mix of guilt and worry. "There was a storm, yes, but it wasn't a natural one. Poseidon was here, and he..." Odysseus trailed off, unsure of how to continue.
Penelope's face paled as she listened to her husband, her heart sinking with dread. She knew deep down what he was going to say before he even spoke the words.
"He took (Y/N), didn't he?" she asked softly, her voice barely more than a whisper.
Odysseus looked at his wife in surprise. He had been expecting shock, disbelief, even anger, but not this.
"How did you know, my love?" Odysseus asked, his voice filled with curiosity and a hint of suspicion.
"If so...then you must have known of her secret?" Penelope asked with a frown, her eyebrows furrowed
"...She already told me once." Penelope admits, looking at the ground
Odysseus's eyes widened in surprise. He hadn't expected his wife to know about (Y/N)'s true identity, but here she was, confessing that she already knew.
"You knew this entire time?" he asked, his voice tinged with a mix of confusion and frustration.
Telemachus couldn't believe his ears. His mother had known about (Y/N)'s true identity and kept it a secret from him, even as he had fallen in love with her. He felt a mixture of anger and betrayal.
"You knew, Mother?" Telemachus asked, his voice filled with disbelief. "You knew that (Y/N) was the daughter of Poseidon?"
"Let me finish" Penelope raised a hand, trying to calm both her son and husband.
"Her Father is Poseidon...and her Mother's Medusa." Penelope revealed with a tight frown.
The news hit Odysseus like a thunderbolt. (Y/N)'s mother was Medusa, the woman who had been violated by Poseidon himself. Suddenly, everything made sense.
His expression turned somber as he realized the weight of (Y/N)'s situation. "So, the story she told me about her Mother… it's true," he mumbled to himself, the reality sinking in.
Telemachus's mind raced as he tried to process the revelations. He was still grappling with the fact that (Y/N) was the daughter of Poseidon and Medusa, and now he was hearing about her mother's tragic past.
He turned to his mother, his expression a mix of confusion and anger. "Why didn't you tell me?" he asked, his voice tinged with frustration. "Why keep all this a secret?"
"I wanted her to tell you herself, but she was too scared, too afraid of what you'd think of her." Penelope answers at the best of her abilities.
Telemachus felt a pang of guilt and empathy. He understood that (Y/N) must have been afraid to reveal her true identity, given the circumstances of her birth and the reputation of her family.
"But why would she think I'd react badly? I love her regardless of who her parents are," he protested, his voice growing in volume.
Penelope gave him a sad smile, placing a hand on his arm. "Sometimes, people's fears are not always based in logic, my son," she said softly. "Even though you may love her and accept her as she is, she may have grown up with a lifetime of prejudice and judgement because of her bloodline. That kind of fear can be difficult to overcome."
"And you were the only one who had loved her wholeheartedly, it would have crushed her if you thought so differently of her, fearing for the worse." Penelope explains with a frown.
Telemachus's heart ached at his mother's words. He could only imagine the loneliness and self-doubt (Y/N) must have felt, believing that everyone would judge her for her parentage.
"Is that why she was so hesitant to tell me?" he asked, his voice tinged with sadness.
"She loves you too much to loose you, Telemachus." Penelope explains.
Telemachus nodded, understanding the weight of her words. (Y/N)'s love for him must have been so powerful that she was willing to keep her true identity a secret, fearing that it would drive him away.
"I don't care about her lineage, her past, or her family," he said firmly, meeting his mother's gaze. "I love her for who she is, and nothing can change that, that's why I'm going after her."
Odysseus shook his head, his expression hardening. "No, Telemachus. You can't go after (Y/N)," he said firmly. "It's too dangerous. Poseidon is a vengeful god, and he won't hesitate to hurt you if you get in his way."
"Believe me, I know that." Odysseus added, reminding Telemachus of his stories about Poseidon.
Telemachus sighed, frustrated by his father's protectiveness. He knew all too well the stories of Poseidon's wrath, but none of that mattered to him now.
"I don't care about the dangers, Father," Telemachus argued, his voice growing in volume. "I have to save (Y/N). I love her, and I won't let Poseidon have her."
"Your old man's right, Lover boy~" a teasing voice suddenly joins in, startling the family, it was Hermes.
Telemachus's eyes widened in surprise as Hermes, the god of messengers, appeared before them.
"Hermes?" he asked, taken aback by the god's sudden appearance.
Odysseus scowled at the god, not pleased by his sudden appearance. "What are you doing here, Trickster?" he asked gruffly.
"Just here to lend a helping hand, just like the old times, old friend" Hermes zips around Odysseus, pinching his cheek
Odysseus swats at Hermes, trying to shoo him away. "Stop that! I'm too old for your games, Hermes."
Hermes chuckles, hovering just out of Odysseus's reach. "Oh come on, don't be such a sourpuss. Where's the old Odysseus I knew and annoyed?"
"I'm right here, you annoying god," Odysseus grumbled, glaring at Hermes. "Now, can you get to the point and tell us why you're here? We don't have all day."
"Well, Young lad, It's your lucky day, because someone up above with high power has given me strick orders to help, and I mean it very seriously, she hates my guts and doesn't usual intrude in human affairs so consider yourself lucky." Hermes explains, a large grin on his lips
Telemachus's heart leapt at Hermes's words. Could it be true? Was he really here to help?
Odysseus's expression remained neutral, not yet convinced. "Help with what, exactly? And who gave you these instructions?" he asked, his voice full of skepticism.
"that's besides the point" Hermes presented him a bag.
"inside this bag are Brutus Flowers, its pollen and necter has the ability to render a god into a mortal, though with Poseidon being the God of the Seas, his system will flush out these out in lets say 3 to 5 minutes tops, but that'll give you enough time to defeat him, wouldn't it?" Hermes held out the bag, covering his nose with his chiton for good measure.
Telemachus's eyes widened, hope rekindling in his heart. A way to defeat Poseidon, even if just for a few minutes. It was a chance, a glimmer of hope.
Odysseus's initial skepticism began to fade, giving way to cautious optimism. He knew better than to trust the Trickster god at face value, but this was their only chance.
"Brutus Flowers," he mused, his voice tinged with a hint of excitement. "I've heard tales of their power, but I never thought I'd actually get to use them."
"Well you do need the help, correct? and I don't want to be gutted, so what do you say? Are you going to rescue your Princess?" Hermes asked Odysseus, before turning to Telemachus.
Telemachus was practically vibrating with anticipation.
"I'm going after her," he stated firmly, his voice filled with determination.
Odysseus looked at his son, his expression a mixture of pride and worry. He could see the fire in Telemachus's eyes, the strength and courage that would one day make him a great leader.
"Alright," Odysseus finally relented, his voice weary, but firm. "We'll do it. We'll use the Brutus Flowers to take down Poseidon."
Odysseus's decision to join Telemachus surprised even himself. He hadn't intended on accompanying him on this dangerous mission.
"I can't let you go alone, boy," Odysseus said, his voice heavy with resignation. "I may be a bit slower and older, but I still have some fight left in me."
Telemachus felt a wave of gratitude towards his father. He knew that Odysseus was taking a risk by joining him, and it meant a lot to him that his father believed in him enough to do so.
"Thank you, Father," Telemachus said quietly, his voice filled with a mix of relief and determination. "We'll get (Y/N) back, together."
"Yes, yes, family and all, anyways, you might want to say something to the missus before embarking on this fight." Hermes points out to Penelope, who looks at them with a frown
Odysseus and Telemachus both turn to look at Penelope, her expression a mix of worry and resignation. They knew they were asking a lot of her, to let them go on this dangerous quest.
Odysseus approached his wife, taking her hand in his. "Penelope, my love," he said softly, his voice tinged with regret. "I need to go with Telemachus. I can't let him face Poseidon alone."
"But...you just got here." Penelope teared up, looking at Odysseus.
"But I know...we can't let our son go on his own..."
Odysseus wrapped his arms around Penelope, holding her close. "I know, my love. I just got back, and I never wanted to leave you again."
Telemachus watched his parents, his heart heavy with guilt for putting them both in this position. He hated seeing his mother in tears, but he knew he had to go. Egeria needed him.
"We'll be alright," Odysseus reassured Penelope, his voice steady and calm. "I promise we'll come back, both of us."
Odysseus looked at Telemachus, meeting his gaze with a nod. They were in this together, come what may.
Penelope nodded, wiping away her tears. She knew there was no point in trying to change their minds. These were two stubborn men, both strong-willed and determined.
"Just...come back to me," she said softly, her voice filled with quiet desperation.
Odysseus placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "We will, my love. I promise."
Telemachus stepped forward, embracing his mother tightly. "We'll be back before you know it, Mother."
Penelope held him close, her grip tight. "I'll be counting the days, my son."
"We have to go now," Odysseus said softly, his voice tinged with remorse.
Telemachus nodded, understanding the weight of their words.
"Goodbye, Mother," he said softly, his voice filled with love and determination.
Odysseus took a step back, taking one last look at Penelope, before turning his gaze to Hermes.
"Alright, Trickster, lead the way." Odysseus said gruffly, gripping the bag of Brutus Flowers tightly in his hand.
(A/N: Are you catching these references I'm throwing?)

“Don’t come any closer” for the prompt thing ? For Lucanis and Rook :3
(I love Untouchable btw I always get so excited when I get The AO3 Update Email)
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for the prompt! This is a little snippet for Kash & Lucanis (technically Spite) from Untouchable. I hope you like this!
Lies
Kash heard soft footsteps on the rooftop behind her a moment before she scented Lucanis’ aftershave on the wind. Irritation, sweet and sharp, cut through her, and she wiped her eyes and gripped the edge of the roof tighter. The ground was a long way below and she sat on the very edge of the roof, her feet and legs dangling as the Treviso night sky blazed with stars above her.
Up here, it felt as though she was the only person in the world, and her problems felt very far away.
“Don’t come any closer,” she told him wearily. “I said I wanted to be alone and I meant it, Lucanis.”
The footsteps immediately stopped, and she heard a sharp intake of breath. “Not Lucanis,” a gravelly voice replied, his tone carefully neutral as though wary of upsetting her. “Me.”
Spite.
It got her attention, as the demon no doubt knew it would.
“What are you doing here? Is Lucanis okay?’ She turned to look at him, uncaring that she’d been crying for hours and probably looked horrible. A demon wouldn’t care what she looked like. He made a non-committal grumbling sound and moved closer, nimbly swinging down to sit beside her as though invited.
“Lucanis is. Angry at your Talon. And sad.” Spite scooted closer on the ledge, until his shoulder and leg brushed hers. “Worried. Everyone is worried. Rook didn’t come home.”
So they cared enough about her to worry if she vanished, but not enough to tell her truth about who she really was. But then, she thought bitterly, a useful tool was no good if it was misplaced, so of course they cared that she hadn't come home. Fresh tears leaked from her eyes, and the distant view of the ground blurred.
“I needed some time to think.”
The demon faced her, glowing eyes narrowed as he reached out a hand and caught one of her tears on the tip of his finger. “Rook is. Still sad?”
She nodded, her throat tightening all over again at the truth that had been kept from her for so long. At the lie she had built her identity sound. The mockery which she had become. Viago was no more her hero and saviour then she was his. She was just leverage against the Antivan King and the merchant prince families.
Everything she had believed in was a lie.
“I am not Lucanis,” Spite told her softly, and he put an arm around Kash, pulling her close as she began to cry again. “But he regrets. He is sad too.”
“He lied to me!” Kash buried her face against Spite's chest as he flared his wings, wrapping them tightly about her in a comforting cocoon. “They all lied to me!”
He growled softly and shook his head. “Lucanis did not lie. Not his secret. To tell. He wanted to. Your Talon said no. Coward.” Spite tightened his arms around her, and she felt him sniff the air. “I will stay with Rook. Despair is near. Lingers. Waits.”
She couldn't tell whether Spite was making it up to give himself a plausible excuse to stay by her side while she cried, or if he meant it. And she didn't care. The wounds in her heart ached terribly, and despite her earlier words, she didn't want to be alone anymore.
Spite didn't say anything else as she cried, he just tightened his arms around her and lay his cheek on top of her head.

is there a patron saint of autism, or close enough, id dap them up so fast
i believe so!!! informally, mostly. it must be said though, the neurodivergence of saints themselves is very nebulous because anachronisms etc. etc. this is my list of saints i have seen autistic people gravitate towards/saints already considered culturally as patrons for autistic people. i will also be including saints (well... turns out just 1 saint) whose hagiographies specify they had intellectual/developmental disabilities because i think they would be great patron saints in general <3
St. Thorlak — (Iceland, XII century) He was a bishop of Skálholt, and is the patron saint of Iceland. He is the main guy nominated to be the patron saint of autism™️. In 2019 this parish in New York made a sensory-friendly worship space, and they named it after St. Thorlak. Apparently, little is known about him. Some people say he had many autistic traits when alive, because he loved rules, I guess. However, what I find most compelling is that a lot of devotees report that they will call on him when having a meltdown and he will aid. <3
S.O.G. Léonie Martin — (France, XIX century) She was one of the sisters of St. Thérèse of Lisieux, usually the most forgotten and the one seen as "difficult". It is pretty much agreed upon now that she was likely autistic. She was a "problem child," very odd, disruptive. She was expelled from school, left religious life at some point. But she re-entered religious life after St. Thérèse's death, inspired by her little sister. Her story is very comforting to me, and I see myself in her a lot.
St. Agatha Kim A-gi — (Korea, late XVIII-early XIX century) She had an intellectual disability that made it so she couldn't learn the faith. Thus, her faith community would not allow her to be baptised, however much she longed for it. She's one of the Korean Martyrs. When she was captured and tortured in order to denounce her faith, St. Agatha Kim A-gi would say: “I only know Jesus and Mary.” She was finally baptised in prison, before her martyrdom.
Fra Juniper — (Italy, XIII century) This is by far the silliest one. He's apparently called "the renowned jester of the Lord" or the "holy fool" (???) and he was one of St. Francis of Assisi's early followers/friends. He took everything extremely literally (i.e. The Legend of the Pigs Feet). He really wanted to be helpful but would often end up causing trouble. He had to be told to stop giving everything away, to stop tearing his tunic to give other people clothes because I believe he was lowkey flashing everybody. Also, if his fellow friars left something of theirs unattended, he would just grab it give it away to the needy. He also decided to go silent/"non-verbal" (?) for six months because he kept doing this ritual of going three days silent for the Trinity, and one day silent for the Virgin Mary. And he just kept going.

It had been going on for a few months. Firstly, you didn’t really pay attention to it, but lately, the comments get worse and worse and the TikTok’s got even more nastier that you somehow let them in your mind.
You tried to act like nothing was happening in front of everyone, but keeping put together was getting harder and harder.
It wasn’t until a few days back that Luke started to notice the changes in your behavior. It wasn’t anything big, but he could sense the distance you slowly put between each other.
It was the way you would check yourself in the mirror with a slight disgust on your face but would quickly mask it as soon as you saw him.
The way you would hide your body whenever you were with the other Devils’ or when you saw someone taking a photo of you.
Or the way he would notice dry tears on your cheeks after he got out of his shower after a late game.
He doesn’t know what is happening but needs to find out.
Today, he had an early morning practice, so he had to be really quiet because you were still sleeping. Normally, you’d be awake by the time preparing him a quick breakfast and snack, but your head was hurting yesterday, so that is why you were sleeping.
Right before he left, he looked at you to ensure you were still sleeping. He sat down beside you, slightly caressing your hair away from your face. With a soft smile, he kissed your forehead and with quiet ‘love you’ he left.
Jack was already waiting for him in front of your apartment building, so he threw his bag on the backseat and slid next to Jack.
“Morning,” Jack yawns from behind the steering wheel, forcing Luke to look at him.
“Morning. Tired?” Luke’s eyes wander around Jack’s face, noticing the dark bags under his eyes.
“Yeah, Florence didn’t sleep too much during the night. it’s the time her teeth start to grow.” he sighed running his hand down his face as he groaned.
“We can always look after her on the weekend so you two get some sleep,” Luke offered with a small smile gazing at his lips. Maybe it would brighten your mood.
“Yeah, but you know, Sunny, she wants to spend as much time with her as possible.” He sighed and pulled out from the parking lot toward the Prudential.
“I know, just saying. You two could use some time alone.”
“Yeah. Tell me about it,” Jack sent him a smile and stopped at red. “Anyway, how is Y/n?”
“Ugh, I am not sure. She’s been acting weird lately,” Luke sighed this time it’s him who runs his hands down his face. “She’s been distant and just not herself.”

“Hey there lover boys!” Jesper shouted as soon as he caught a glimpse of Luke and Jack.
“Hello, Swedish man!” Jack grinned at him and fist-bumped him on the way inside the locker room.
“Hi, Bratter,” Luke smirked ruffling the shorter guy’s hair.
Jesper swatted the hand away with an annoyed huff and kicked Luke in the shin.
“You look tired man. Flo giving you a hard time?” Nico chuckled when he noticed the black bags under Jack’s eyes.
“Yeah, her teeth are growing,” He sighed, rubbing his hands over his face yet again. “She lets up sleep only three hours a day, so it’s tiring.”
“I got it. If you want to, you can't take a few days off or always bring her to me I’ll gladly look after her.” Nico offered, and Jack had to smile. He is so grateful for you all. “Hey there Lukey!” Nico waved at the younger Hughes as soon as he saw him.
“Hello, Captain,” Luke grinned at him. “Ready for practice?”
“The hell I am." he grinned but remembered he needed to talk to him. "Anyway, I need to talk to you after, do you have time?” Nico says more seriously, causing Luke to swallow hard and nod his head.
“Uhm. Yeah sure.” He swallowed again, and the smile on his face vanished away.
“Move your asses guys!” Coach Sheldon yells inside the locker room, startling most of the guys.

“You wanted to talk to me?” Luke sat down next to Nico after he got out of the shower, the towel wrapped tightly around his waist.
Nico nodded and handed him his phone, which was playing some TikTok with you and Luke. Luke watched it with furrowed eyes because he didn’t know what he was supposed to looking for.
“Look at the comments.”
Luke opened the comments, and his jaw dropped. He knew people were cruel on social media, but he had no idea they were this cruel.
“And that is not the only one. Do you remember when Y/n posted the photo of you and her on New Year's,” Nico asked and took his phone back.
“Yeah, what with that? I didn’t see any ugly comments.” Luke looked at Nico with raised eyebrows, not catching up.
“That’s because y/n deleted them.” Nico sighed and for the second time handed Luke his phone with screenshots of the comments.
I don’t know what he sees in her, but he could do better.
You should put down some weight
Don’t you feel a bit out of place when you’re with his friends?
Do you ever feel embarrassed standing next to him? I mean, people must wonder why he settled.
Luke swiped through the screenshots, tears forming in his eyes as he read through them.
“Oh, my fucking shit.” Luke breathed out as he finally realized, why were you acting so off for the past few weeks.
“Yeah, I noticed that y/n was acting off, so I just wanted to show you.”
“Thanks, man,” Luke nodded, appreciation clear in his voice even though Nico could hear the tears. “I um, I need to go.”
Luke quickly changed into his clothes and rushed out of the arena. He probably broke most of the road rules, but he didn’t care, he just needed to talk to you, to make sure you know how beautiful you are no matter what.

Luke barges into your apartment like there is some murderer inside the building startling the shit out of you.
“Jesus Christe Luke! What the fuck?” you yelped out, your hand hovering over your heart.
“Is it true?” he panted out, dropping the bag from his shoulder on the floor, his voice full of hurt.
You straightened your spine, not knowing what he was talking about. Or more like being afraid of what he’s talking about.
“What are you talking about?” your voice is a little bit shaky from the fear that he knows. He knows all about what is going on in her head.
“You know what I am talking about,” He breathed out, slowly approaching her. His heart was beating fast from the number of steps he ran up, just because he didn’t want to wait for the elevator. “The comments, the videos,” he dropped down on his knees before you, his hands flying to your knees. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I don’t know what you are talking about.” You shook your head in denial.
“Y/n, I love you the way you are. And it pains me to see that I’m not showing you enough how much I love you,” Luke sighed and took your hands in his in a reassuring move. “And I promise you that I will try harder from now.”
“No, no, Luke, it’s not your fault!” you rushed out, shaking your head hurriedly. “You make me loved so much, but it’s me. The comments and videos make me feel like I should do something with myself.”
“Hey baby, look at me,” he shook your hands to get your attention back on him when he noticed you drifting away. “You have nothing to change, just because someone said in comments. You are gorgeous the way you are. But if you really want to, then I will support you, you know that.”
“So you think I am fat. I knew it.” You sniffed, the tears you’ve held back now falling over the edges.
“Hey, hey. I didn’t say anything like that, y/n, and you know that!” Luke sighed and stood up, only to sit down next to you and pull you in a tight hug.
“You know I love you the way you are, and I would never change anything about you,” Luke whispered, his lips pressed against your temple, rocking you side to side. “I love you so fucking much, baby. But if you don’t feel comfortable in your body, I will support you if you want to start going to the gym.”
“I am sorry.” You sobbed out, clutching Luke's biceps tightly. “I ju-just don’t want you to re-realize that maybe one day you’ll need s-someone more o-on your le-level.”
“Hey! You are way on a higher level than me, baby, and you know that.” He grasps your face in his palms, forcing you to look at him. “I don’t fucking care what the people say about you in comments, and you too shouldn’t, because they are just pathetic excuses of people, okay.” He didn’t let go until you understood that you were gorgeous. That day, you spent cuddling on the couch, watching Supernatural’s and him whispering in your ear how beautiful you are and how fucking lucky he was to get you as a girlfriend.
