I already went to bitch about this on my second acc, but I feel like this is an important issue. i've seen this post going around lately, being rebloged even by my mutuals, and it's pissing me off a little bit.

in that stupid list where jakei puts the 'dumb' criticism they get, they put 'jakei sucks for making chara and frisk male' and not a single soul is bringing up how obnoxious this is.

I can't believe this but yes jakei, you do suck in this instance for changing chara's and frisk's gender to male.

you did this for absolutely no reason. you have the power to backtrack and retcone this horrible mistake but you didn't. instead, you treat this very VERY valid and genuine criticism towards you like foolish bitching and moaning from 'haters'.

in a post where you are le epic owning a transphobe, you bring up that one transphobic thing you did as a gotcha. you trying to put yourself in the moral high ground by bringing up that one time you erased two characters' nonbinary identities to make them cis males literally puts you on the same level as the person you're trying to own.

without bringing up that you did this not once, but TWICE. you completely deleted mad mew mew's transfem identity, detransitioned her, and made her the token nonbinary one instead.

and I see this brought up even less.

jakei I do not think that you're transphobic or anything, but I'm gonna say it right here, you don't understand stuff.

you don't understand why frisk and chara being nonbinary matters, you don't understand why mad mew mew being transfem matters, and you certainly don't understand the consequences of erasing those identities.

and I'm gonna add this too, you don't understand characters or storytelling.

frisk and chara are specifically nonbinary because it's important to undertale's themes. their gender identities is what sets them apart from the player and it's crucial for their characters and you understood none of that.

mad mew mew talks on and on about her transition in her fight and how happy she is with her new body and identity with absolutely no subtlety when it comes to the trans coding and you understood none of that.

jakei you have a lot, and I mean a lot, and I mean a LOT of influence when it comes to how people view and interpret certain characters. to this day I can't talk to my irl friends about ink because he makes them uncomfortable because of how you portrayed him.

and it's bothers me to no end how people will talk on and on about cross's trans coding but never open their mouths on these other issues.

if you care so much about your blorbo's identity, you'd care about frisk's and chara's and mew mew's. or better yet, you'd care for trans characters.

at least if you really did care, you'd be consistent when it comes to defending their identities.
