saw a guy online saying "You shouldn't buy trdelník when you visit Czech cities; it's not a traditional food and we don't make it at home--it's a tourist scam."

which I'm sure is all true. but what amuses me is that when people see the word "trdelník," they think "Czechia." (maybe "Slovakia") where else could you imagine finding one?

so trdelníky may be a scam, but! they're a uniquely Czech scam.

#and perhaps this is the case with all tourist scams and traps. people aren't necessarily looking for the most local experience #the visiting Englishman may know Americans never deep-fry twinkies at home but some DO spend $8 on one at the state fair #and that makes it worth trying to him #x #Czechia #there were also some Czechs in the comments saying 'what do you mean it's a scam? they advertise flour and sugar you get flour and sugar!'#which got a chuckle out of me
