The main argument I see for the soul in Nona to be Gideon with amnesia is that the main plot of the series thus far has been the developing relationship between Gideon and Harrow. In Gideon the Ninth we were introduced to them, and slowly came to understand just how deeply invested in one another they are. Harrow the Ninth explored who Harrow was when she had no memory of Gideon, and how Harrow saw herself without Gideon in her life.
A logical next step would be to explore who Gideon might be without Harrow, and with no memory of Harrow. Who she might have been had she grown up with her mother’s people, instead of the Ninth.
How that would be achieved is also pretty obvious. Gideon died. Abigail said that it makes a difference for souls to be living or dead, regardless of whether or not they’re inhabiting a body. Gideon was dead, and we know she was dead, because even after Harrow stopped her destruction her soul was still the furnace of Harrow’s lyctorhood. A bottomless well of thanergy, just like any other dead cavalier. If Gideon were to come back to life, she would probably have to be resurrected. And it’s heavily implied by both Augustine and the social framework of the Nine Houses that people who have been resurrected have no knowledge of their previous lives. History started again at zero, for everyone but John.
#I'm highly ambivalent about who the soul actually is so this is not a prediction#but an amnesiac Gideon would serve the plot in a very obvious and interesting way#and obviously it won't be a PERFECT simulation of what she would have been like because she's in someone else's body#and the setting does not have a dualistic philosophy of soul and body; they are not fully separable parts#so in a way no matter whose soul is in Nona she's sort of a new person#the remix album version#nona speculation#nona the ninth#the locked tomb#I've been thinking Gideon might be resurrected with blanket amnesia since way before I thought she might be Nona#but I'm really kind of hoping based on that argument that it's NOT Gideon bc resurrection amnesia seems like it's probably permanent#so yeah#extremely ambivalent#htn spoilers#The main argument AGAINST this theory is that Gideon has died at least twice before and didn't lose her memory after the avulsion trial#but I don't think Avulsion was a full death. She did die in the sense that anyone else WOULD have died and her brain shut down and rebooted#but she didn't experience apopnematism and her soul didn't leave her body#whatever process changes the nature of a soul from alive to dead didn't happen before her body shook death off#her death at the end to the book was much more thorough and possibly destroyed/severely damaged her heart#which at least for lyctors is an important anchor to the soul

It will be the first time that I will publish some headcanons of some character, in this case of Friday Night Funkin with Senpai, I hope I won't be ashamed of this later XD.
-Headcanons about your game
•The plot of his game basically consists that Y / N is a student in her last year of high school, who never knew love and suddenly a new and adorably attractive math teacher named Senpai comes in, and there in that game your goal is date with the teacher with all the cliches of otome games.
•The game format would obviously be a dating simulator, but with the variant that would be Hatsune Miku Project Diva or Uta no Prince Sama type ... I guess the first one.
•That Girlfriend liked about the game, she found it in Boyfriend: A cute boy with a taste for music (even if it's a few Beep boops LOL). With the exception adding that BF is funny, it isn't perfect but that is good.
•Senpai's personality in your game is like that of a sweet prince, but a bit clumsy, and it shows in his way of dressing. That he is passionate about music even though he teaches mathematics, since the position of music teacher was occupied. Also, when he falls in love with Y / N, he tries to be very sweet and chivalrous with her without his students noticing ... at least he does not favor her in his class. And when he lost in anything, just put in a Sad mode, for after will be happy again.
• His Good Ending would be that when Y / N graduates, make a confession to Senpai, he also confesses his feelings in an embarrassed way and now, happy ending. Also, after completing the game, it is possible to play the musical levels.
•His Bad Ending then in graduation, Y / N when confessing to Senpai because he is rejected, but since it is an A.I. "indirectly" senpai tells you that you can try again and how to get his Good Ending "indirectly".
-Headcanons about him
•Unlike his personality in his game, Senpai being an experimental A.I. , because "outside his role" he would be like a guy who has the character of Oujidere (an arrogant anime prince), somewhat perverted but perfectionist in some aspects, and that he is a sore loser.
•Aspects between his gaming personality with his real personality, as he retains the fact that he is quite clumsy, but he would deny it or be ashamed. Also, if he likes music and is passionate, but he is a perfectionist at that. Although he is narcissistic, because if he falls in love, instead of being ashamed, he would take the personality of a Tsundere and little by little being someone sweet ... with his pride even but just as sweet.
•Before the arrival of BF and GF, Senpai was quite aware of the existence of Spirit, although he does not take it enough importance and considers it annoying to listen to it and then ignores it. If he had been human then he would have been fuck off in the presence of Spirit and being his puppet for a long time.
•He is a cat boy, and a bit of Hamsters, is that for him they are so cute.
•Like an experimental A.I he couldn't develop much to be able to control electronic devices like Giffany from Gravity falls, and neither to modify your programmer and communicate with it like Monika from DDLC. But if he can have an understanding of it and even keep his memories every time he is rebooted as Seven from Mystic Messenger.
•It could be said that it suffers from an error called Error 707 that it is almost impossible to erase its memories when restarting it compared to its other copies of the past, but he pretends not to have any memory.
•He has a taste for sweet things like cakes and cookies, but also a taste for fish, such as Takoyakis.
•he is weak with spicy food even if he says otherwise, his watery eyes and red face would give him away.
•He doesn't like his full name at all, which is "Senpai McAnime Weeb", simply if someone asked him his full name he would lie saying that the programmers just gave him a name believing that there was no need to put a surname as with his age ... If he knew about your Wiki.
•Senpai may have died, but not completely, only his disk was damaged by Spirit which makes him look dead. So if someone can find his disk, manage to fit it into a PC and repair the broken parts of his programmer, it will be possible to be playable again, and perhaps the memories of the event with BF and GF, even what happened with Spirit will still be preserved. But the fact that Spirit is still doomed on its Disc is going to be a mystery.
-Extra Headcanons
•It is possible that Y / N is the one who got Senpai's game disc online because of his taste for retro games ... What? one way or another Daddy Dearest had to get rid of that disc, if he breaks it then Spirit would escape and he does not want to go back to the problems again, besides wanting to take him away from his daughter also so that this incident doesn't happen (although he himself caused it). and therefore better to pass the problem on to others.
•Senpai when meeting Y / N , Well...he would feel confused to have another carrier, in fact, he would be surprised if it works on a computer. Maybe at the beginning it would be out of place which would create suspicions in Y / N so the boy would try to "break the fourth wall" little by little until the girl understands that he has a conscience or ends up exploding and revealing himself in the middle of the game ... whichever comes first.
Ok, was so longer, but it was funny and entrertaiment. Maybe I will do a Love Headcanons after hehe
PD: The fanarts shown here do not belong to me, they belong to their respective authors.

a game trailer dropped that has been getting some backlash. Look up the gamer girl FMV video game. Any thoughts on that? I get the idea of what their going for, but this feels like a committee who are out of touch made this. If you want to show the potential horrors of being a female streamer then don't package that in what appears to be a weird manipulative fantasy simulator. Moderators don't actually have that kind of power obviously. The bad fmv acting won't help either.
I watched the trailer and yeah, I’ve got some complicated feelings here that I’m having trouble putting into words. But what I can articulate is:
1. These situations (such as attacks on women in gaming communities) are not, you know... games. Though here we’ve literally turned it into one. There’s a difference between incorporating sensitive subjects into fiction as a means of educating, and relying on that sensitive subject as the sole means of entertainment. There is no game without this character going through horrific things in the name of us, the player, getting some sort of kick out of that. It’s the gaming equivalent of a gratuitous, graphic rape scene. Are you incorporating rape into your story in a sensitive manner in order to accomplish something in the narrative, or are you incorporating it so that the audience can get a vicarious thrill out of watching a woman be abused? Based on the trailer (and I admit we only have the trailer so far to work with) it doesn’t feel like this video is teaching me anything, just capitalizing on horrors that women go through. It’s sensationalizing it.
2. Am I supposed to be the stalker? (Which would definitely be A Thing. See the point above) but if not we should acknowledge how very stalker-ish the depiction of the moderator is. Again, based on what we can see from the trailer, you’re not just monitoring this stream... you’re watching this woman even when she’s not online and deliberately performing for followers, she sends you a sexy selfie, the entire gameplay mechanic is her asking you what she should do, which requires knowledge of/integration into her life that isn’t normal for some mod you just met. Obviously video games can’t - and shouldn’t - bank on normality, but in this case if the takeaway is meant to be “Look at how horrifying stalkers in a virtual world are” and the way you depict that is “You get to White Knight this woman by watching her through a screen 24/7 and making calls about her life/safety” that’s... a bit of a conflict. Better to be the streamer. Put the player into her shoes and let us make our own calls. That would still be a very difficult game to create sensitively, but it would be one step in the right direction.
3. This is more of a nitpick, but why is it called Gamer Girl? We see her playing a Mario Kart-esque game for a hot second and... that’s it. There’s also a scene where she’s in cosplay and the rest of the time it appears to just be sexy filming. Meaning, here she is in low-cut shirts chatting with her fanbase. Here she is laughing with a friend about getting a drink. Here she is out clubbing... what exactly is the focus of this stream? Because it doesn’t appear to be gaming. Which I bring up because the term Gamer Girl, far from being simplistically literal (a girl who games) carries implications of rarity. It’s the “Not like other girls” syndrome. Oh my god you game? Because I’ve definitely never met a woman who does that before... and of course the Gamer Girl - as opposed to a girl who games - is meant to be incredibly hot because her identity revolves around being that “perfect,” potential girlfriend; someone who embodies both traditional femininity and a supposedly masculine interest, without allowing the latter to interfere with the former. It’s an insulting fantasy that this character seems to fall right into. Rather than giving us a woman who streams because she loves games and must deal with a toxic community as a result, this character feels like a stereotyped Gamer Girl who isn’t really into gaming, she’s just into using the appearance of being a gamer to make herself desirable.
Which isn’t to say that like... women streamers can’t look sexy. Or that you can’t do things on your stream other than the topic at hand, etc. Just that this character feels like that Gamer Girl fantasy made “real.” And now you, the player, get to sweep in and rescue her. As a girl who games 5+ hours a day, I can’t identify with her. She feels like a stereotyped construction that a presumably male fanbase (and isn’t that a kicker?) is meant to consume, not a fleshed-out character who I can connect with.
And yeah, the bad acting doesn’t help lol.
