#and male torties can be caused by kleinfelter's syndrome

I would like to add that the cat is almost certainly a normal cat. Split face torties is an entirely normal and common tortoiseshell pattern. It is not at all indicative of a chimera. The only way to tell for 100% certainly a cat is a chimera is with genetic testing. Here are some cats that are (probable) actually chimeras, though I can't speak for them being bilateral gynandromorphs.
Narnia the british shorthair (may be a form of mosaicism, chimeras typically have patches all over their bodies and Narnia only has the grey you see in the photo)
Dawntreader Texas Calboy the maine coon, a male tortie who has been genetically tested as a chimera, and who has fathered kittens
Quimera, who i believe is just a moggie, she has a split face but that's almost certainly just a coincidence. You can see on her black areas, she displays both solid and tabby patterning, which is impossible on the average cat
#even mixes of colors that would normally be impossible to go together (eg black and grey)#seem like they might sometimes have other causes (the mix of dense and dilute colors might be linked to a blue-eye gene)#and male torties can be caused by kleinfelter's syndrome#not just chimerism#sorry im currently hyperfixating on cat genetics this isn't meant to be rude or anything#just a gentle correction of a common misinformation that i don't blame you at all for believing#and a 'hey this is what's actually going on isn't that cool!'
