how come every single day my mum finds out about a new rich northern european youtuber moving to the portuguese countryside seeking an idyllic sustainable living experience.......specially brits pls think about the implications of gentrification before moving to a country that has less than half of your minimum wage ??

we're literally being driven out of our villages and cities bc real estate agents and landlords are catering to a public that we *cannot* out-buy !

#we are not your bucolic Arcadia #and its so stressful to even discuss this bc i feel it can tumble into xenophobia soooo fast #but i feel like if you have a v good passport and economic power you should really think through the implications of moving and promoting a #country for being cheap and idyllic ??#and yes obviously we should have protective policies against this but the far right is on the rise and there's a crisis so things move #really slowly 🤡#also not even going to get into their remodeling traditional houses without studying the construction methods here 🤡
