Listen I'm fucking disappointed with Neil Gaiman too, but this whole dance of "actually Good Omens is mostly Terry's writing anyway" is so annoying. No it's not. It's 50/50 and Neil had the initial idea. They were friends.
It's not helping anyone to stuff your head in the sand about the things you like that were made by people who are horrible. I'm not saying you need to praise the man, you don't have to mention him in connection to GO if you don't want to, but pretending he had no impact- especially on the show which has been basically a solo project - is just silly.
I understand the discomfort of having to face up to liking things he's made; I like his writing more than I like Terry's, which is NOT a value judgement, Terry was an incredible writer, but his style doesn't grab me. I would not have loved Good Omens as much as I do if it hadn't been collaborative. Good things can be created by bad people. It's that simple.
#I'm grabbling with this continuously#it doesn't serve me to pretend that I don't like his writing suddenly because I do#so I have to examine my own relationship to it#but liking the writing does not mean I have any need to emulate the man#and it's certainly underlined that you should never make famous ppl important in your life
