I was fully prepared and expecting for the US to start falling apart at some point, but I'm genuinely surprised how quickly it feels like it's happening. the pause on grants is insane. literally every industry is about to experience a crash. it's difficult to imagine the effect this could have

#the fact that one (1) elected official has the power to do all this is also crazy btw. like whatever happened to '''checks and balances'''#& why do we give an elected official the power to do this kind of stuff in a country reliant on electorialism and where #theres famously always a cartoonishly evil party that the noble democrats need to defeat every year without fail in order to maintain peace #like that's what gets me. if trump didn't win this year the republicans would've surely run someone equally evil next election ad infinitum #and it seems to me like it would've been statistically impossible for democrats to win every future election to the end of time #this kind of thing was inevitable in our system. unless both parties moved towards the center/left again but. lol. lmao.#that said it's probably useless to continue complaining about what was or wasn't inevitable. it happened so now we gotta deal with it
