brief moment of clarity. will you all kill me if i say that i think one of the major things that caused the CCs to mishandle the sensitive themes of trauma/mental illness was exposure to angsty fan content that led them to thinking that angst was the only way to tell a story with any impact
#NOTE: i am not faulting FANS#this is wholly on the creators#they had the responsibility to treat those themes well#and it really seems like one of the only reasons they didn't#is because they only interacted with the cool 'edgy' fanworks#aaaaaand that's all on them and only them#idk! i'm gonna go back to crying now!
