the way irving's first concern waking up after jowan knocked him out, before anything else including the threat of the templars, is if amell/surana is ok... 'you have... a truly rare gift'... the way he's been angling for duncan to recruit you all along and practically hurries you out the door to the wardens (and relative freedom) even when you snitch on jowan and aren't in as deep shit as you might have been....... the fact that every single person you interact with throughout the course of the game who's met him is just like 'oh it's you. yeah irving never shuts up about how talented and amazing you are and how proud he is'................ that is his bABY that is his CHILD he'll play morally grubby 5D chess to give them a shot at a richer freer life, I love you machiavellian mage dad you gave my amell trust complexes that will last for life but under the circumstances I think you did the best anyone could expect of you
