what fucks me up STILL is that aziraphale was saying no to the metatron up until he said he could take crowley. he knows first hand, from what happened to gabriel, that even a supreme archangel can't just say no to armageddon, that they were going to all but cast him out because he was like 'nah' about it.

and aziraphale obviously does not want to have armageddon happen, but he was so blinded by the idea that he and crowley could finally be together and work together above board that that was his #1 concern.
