I finally watched Priscilla. I have to say all the praise Jacob got must have been just to hate on Austin. He was very over hyped. I think he did ok. If everyone wasn’t trying to shove him down my throat, I probably would have enjoyed his performance more. I love the actress that played Priscilla. They def made a mistake by not focusing on cailee more. The movie itself was well done. Just the ending felt so sudden.
Yeeeeaaaaa.... I kind of figured that a lot (not all!) of the JE Twitter hype and Austin/Elvis comparisons were just people trying to hate on Austin's Elvis by pumping up JE's Elvis. 🙄
I have absolutely no qualms if people genuinely preferred JE's Elvis over Austin's, but to me, a lot of what I saw on Twitter was just people being shady on purpose (imo).
To me, the two actors can't even be compared really, because one performance was literally prep for almost 2 years, singing, dancing, playing piano, playing guitar, performing, in ADDITION to acting, and another performance was filmed in 2 months, and didn't really require all of that EXTRA stuff aside from acting cuz the focus wasn't really on Elvis the "Entertainer". One was a much bigger production as well. Jmho 🤷🏾♀️
Anyway, I def think that the way A24 promoted this film was... interesting to say the least, but hey, I'm glad that Cailee did a great job, and did well enough to snag a freaking GG nomination! 😃👏🏾
I'll def check it out when it comes to streaming.
