"there's no one like you." you say, looking down at seokmin as his arms smoothly fit around your waist. seokmin's eyes are that pretty dark brown, lips glossy with the tears he had just shed as he smiles while sniffling. "really?"
"seokmin, of course. i married you for a reason." his head laid against your stomach, his breathing slowing as you leaned over him.
seokmin's graceful hands ghosting your exposed back made you inhale sharply, and the soft feeling in your chest bloomed as he looked back up at you.
"how do you think we'll meet in our next life?" he asks simply, and you laugh, throwing your head back as you smile. "seokmin, really?"
a pout comes onto his features as his eyebrows become downturned. "yes, really. how do you think we'll meet each other again? since we're soulmates and all," seokmin says the last part while leaning in and kissing your exposed stomach.
you giggle, and sigh as he looks up at you again, strong hands still in place on your waist. he's waiting for a reply, and you try to think hard, imagining how you'd remember seokmin from this wonderful life you and him were currently living.
"i'd just hope the universe does me another favor and bring me to you. that's all i'd really want, i think." smiling, you cup seokmin's cheek, thumb grazing over his smooth, clear skin and ghosting his pink, sweet lips.
seokmin stares up at you as if you hung the stars in the sky for him—his brown eyes have those familiar sparkles in them, and the small smile that graces his features touches your heart just as much as it does his. his hands gently press you down towards the floor, and you follow, finally on your knees as he presses and molds his soft lips to yours.
the sound of the air conditioning and small pecks the two of you share isn't loud or distracting, but so small and minute that you crave more of it.
you crave more of seokmin like this. you crave more of your seokmin stripped down to who he really is—not a charismatic guy who just laughs and smiles all the time, or the friend everyone comes to help for—but just a sweet boy who needs comfort and cheering up, just like the rest of the world does.
"i love you." those words—when seokmin whispered them to you, like he did just now—made you slow down and appreciate the world that was lee seokmin. his voice was soft and mild when he said it, but you knew without a shadow of a doubt that he meant it.
"and i love you, seokmin." you said back, lips tickling his before you planted another one on his lips again. he smiled at you, and you caught it in your pocket, saving it for a rainy day.

i don't know anyone who writes wonwoo as perfect as you! you manage to capture his personality so well🥺could i please request a friends to lovers thing for wonu? you've been friends for YEARS and you've had your moments and hidden glances but this one night you're just sitting out and feeling the winter breeze together. he can feel you staring and asks why you're doing that..while you contemplate whether to give in and just confess. you're so overwhelmed with emotions for him but you're also so terrified to tell him bcos you're scared to change the dynamics your relationship has so far.
thank you so much for saying that about my writing, anon :') took me entirely too long but i had a sudden burst of inspiration after seeing the latest gam3 bo1 wonwoo with long hair 😵‍💫 hope you like this! title taken from the english version of crush by seventeen.
hearts in parallel jeon wonwoo | 2,730 words | fluff
gender neutral reader. warnings: none.
Tumblr media
wonwoo's standing outside your car in the parking lot of your office. part of you is convinced you're just imagining things, because he's supposed to be in japan. touring. doing idol things. having fun.
every morning you look forward to the pictures he's made a habit of sending whenever he's on tour, whether they're what he had for breakfast, or what a sleeping dokyeom looked like with a moustache drawn on his face. his only motive for doing that has been to convince you to let him take you on a vacation whenever you're free, because he says there's always something you'd enjoy wherever he goes.
it's sweet. it really is. even if you have to keep reminding him that you have your usual 9-5 that's so different from his schedules.
but it is wonwoo, when you focus on the way he's standing against the hood of your car, hands in his pockets as he looks at what you assume is the view of the sun setting in the distance. crazy how he'd sent a picture of it to you just today morning from another country.
suddenly, you fell woefully out-dressed. it's your usual work attire, but wonwoo's got his airport look on, complete with a dashing coat that you've never seen before. maybe he has it on only for today.
"surprise?" wonwoo asks sheepishly, when he catches you staring at him.
you blink once more, just in case. "wonwoo?" you ask, a little uncertain. "aren't you supposed to..."
"tour ended last night," he explains, pushing himself to stand properly. "i texted you afterwards."
you think back to the messages you exchanged last night, but they're a haze at best. all you can currently think of is your calendar you've been crossing things off of for a better part of the day.
any other time, you'd be extremely happy to see wonwoo, but today you don't feel like you can match his energy. "sorry," you murmur, rubbing your face. maybe if you rub it hard enough he'll disappear and you can catch up with him when you're a bit more presentable.
"hey, no," he says, catching your wrist as you pull your hands away. "you look perfectly fine. did i catch you at a wrong time?"
you realize you just said your last sentence out loud. "just tired," you say, proud of yourself at how even your voice is despite the fact that your hand is in his. "i'm glad you're here, though."
wonwoo lets go of your hand. "then is it fine if i drive you home?"
you look at him. he looks pretty serious, and you snort. "did you seriously come here just to drive me home?"
wonwoo nods. "straight from the airport. dropped my stuff home, then took a cab and came here."
no wonder he's still got the airport look on.
"you're a weird man, jeon wonwoo," you say, searching for your keys in your pocket.
"that's probably why we're friends," he deadpans, catching the keys you toss him.
"you should be sleeping," you say, chucking your bag on the backseat. "or resting at home. not being my chauffeur."
"maybe i wanted to be your chauffeur because i'm not sleepy," wonwoo replies, slipping on his seatbelt, waiting for you to do the same before starting your car. "it's been a while since we've hung out together."
that's true, you think. ever since you got this new job, your hours have been filled with work, and even though you're not overly swamped, you've been seeing your friends a bit less frequently than you would have liked. wonwoo included. and wonwoo's also had less time to spend with you, given how the band's been planning more foreign tours in the past year.
so you're glad you're spending time with him, even if you're not at your best.
"who said you don't look good?" wonwoo asks.
you bite your tongue when you realize you've spoken out your thoughts again — it's just a testament to how tired you are, with no filter between your thoughts and words. you shake your head, but wonwoo's not having any of it.
"i came here straight off my flight and i look absolutely dishevelled. you're lucky i don't mind you seeing me like this."
"your so-called dishevelled airport look is just as good as me at my best, so don't even start, okay?"
"yah," wonwoo says, laughing. "i don't appreciate you slandering yourself like that."
"fine, what do you appreciate?"
"you spending some time with me and not worrying about anything else."
blunt, as always. you appreciate it, even if it makes your heart jump a little. and it's not that you're worrying over anything: it's just the sudden nature of wonwoo's appearance that has you a little confused. but you're not complaining.
"by the way," wonwoo says, when you finally pull out onto the main road after leaving all the traffic behind, "i got you something."
"again? wonwoo, i told you i don't need souvenirs from every—"
"this was for your birthday, sweetheart," he says, pausing to pull something out of the pocket of his coat. "i still have your stuff from japan waiting to be unpacked."
"you're a menace, won," you say, hands hesitating to accept the slim box sitting on the dashboard. "i told you i didn't want anything."
"and i told you it'd be a crime if i didn't get you anything. maybe i would've listened to you if you didn't get that insanely expensive camera for me."
you glance at him. "that's—"
"—a completely valid argument," he retorts, reaching for the slim box and putting it in your lap. "i've been waiting to see your reaction ever since i got it."
shaking your head, you make a show of opening it. one thing about wonwoo is that he somehow always knows what to gift others. you could tell him you didn't want anything, and then he'd give you something you didn't even know you wanted.
case in point: there's a dainty silver chain sitting in the box, with the pendant looking very familiar. you take a closer look at it and realize—
"you didn't."
wonwoo has his mischievous grin on. "of course i did."
it's a customized engraving of your cat on the circular coin of metal, a perfect replica down to the little discoloured patch of fur on your cat's face.
you'd complained to wonwoo, once, drunkenly, about this really cute online jewellery store that sold customized necklaces. you'd never been able to find it again despite going through your search history and searching the web extensively.
now that it's sitting in your hands, you can't help but wonder how much time he must have spent tracking it down, finding the perfect picture for the engraving.
"i don't know how to thank you," you say honestly, looking at wonwoo. he still has the smile on his face, looking straight ahead.
"just wear it forever, and you're good."
"oh, emotionally manipulating me? is that how it's going to be?" you ask, tracing the chain with your finger.
"i don't think it's manipulation if it's your cat."
you can't argue with that. you snap the box shut and put it in the pocket of your jeans. "you shouldn't have, won," you say perfunctorily.
wonwoo doesn't respond, simply choosing to switch on the radio.
for once, you're not driving, and you get the chance to appreciate how beautiful the city looks when it's nearing night.
"you hungry?" wonwoo asks, when the car stops at a red light.
you shake your head. "not for a few more hours. you?"
"nope," wonwoo says, flexing his fingers on the wheel. "but tonight's a full moon night, so i was thinking we could go to the riverside and just hang out near the pier? if you're not too tired?"
you think about it. you get to hang out with wonwoo in the moonlight, which will definitely be a sight to behold. the way he's been living rent-free in your mind for a while now is embarrassing, to say the least.
"i don't mind."
you sneak glances at him when he's answers a call from dino asking him if he's free to hang out tomorrow, when he's excited to hear one of his own songs on the radio. he's cute, and the feeling's eating you up from the inside every single time you're with him.
he just looks so...boyfriend. he's let his hair grow out, and black really is his colour. not to mention his glasses which might just be your undoing.
wonwoo parks at a spot not far from the pier.
you get out of the car and immediately get hit by a gust of cool air, and you're really glad wonwoo decided to come pick you up today, because there's no way you would've come here by yourself.
the walkway around the river seems nicer than the last time you were here, bigger and better with more lights and somehow, lesser people. it's exactly what you need right now.
you fall in step alongside wonwoo, comfortably silent as you make your way from the car park, the relative silence amplifying the sound of insects chirping and people chattering around you.
you don't look down for a second, and suddenly there's a tiny pebble that gets stuck in your shoe and trips you up. you brace yourself for a slightly hard impact, but the next thing you know is that wonwoo's arm is around your waist, pulling you into himself.
"careful," he chides softly, rubbing your back for a moment before letting go. "are you okay?"
you nod mechanically.
"let's switch sides. the light's better here."
it's these little things that wonwoo does, that make you fall for him even more. what started off as a little crush is now a hopeless, helpless twinge in your heart that multiplies whenever you so much as look at him. no matter how much you've gotten better at controlling your feelings around him, you can't help but stare at how good he looks tonight, the moon highlighting his face, its silver beams running through his black hair.
you've really, really missed this. just hanging out with him. and maybe you miss the time before you realized your feelings were so earth-consumingly deep that it began clouding every interaction the two of you have had.
"do you have the box with you?" wonwoo asks, all of a sudden.
you question his words for a second, then remember. "yeah," you say, patting at the slim box sitting in the pocket of your jeans.
"let me put it on for you?"
what should have been a calm night out with wonwoo by the riverside has now ended up into you becoming a mess of nerves, your skin burning where his fingertips touch you, fastening the clasp into place. you can't see how it looks on you right now, but wonwoo already has a solution.
"stand here," he says, directing you to a particularly bright lamppost. "you need to see how good it looks on you."
you try protesting, but wonwoo brushes away your concerns. "let me just take a picture. just one."
it's never just one picture with wonwoo, and you can't stop him when he has his mind set on something. you give in and stand under the light and try to muster up a real smile for the camera. you succeed because it's wonwoo standing behind the camera, pulling a funny face that makes you laugh.
he shows you the photos once he's done taking them, and you're not looking at the camera in a single one. he always makes you look better than you do, somehow. you return the favour, taking pictures of him posing in the same spot.
"these are good," wonwoo remarks, scrolling through the photos. "i'm glad you got the moon, too."
you nod before you say something embarrassing like you're the moon, though. you watch as wonwoo takes some more pictures of the sky, and the life around the riverside. the restaurants and shops light up the view for you but you can't help but just look at wonwoo. he looks so serene and in his environment that you can't help but wonder if having wonwoo as your boyfriend would entail dates like this on a regular basis.
"you're staring," is all he says, after two full minutes of silence.
you hum and slowly turn your gaze away from him, focusing on the trees in the distance, trying to play it off casually. rookie error.
"is everything okay?" he asks, pocketing his phone and moving a bit closer to you. "want to go home?"
you shake your head. "you?"
"no, i'm fine."
and then his hand is covering yours.
you try your best not to freak out, but under his hand, your hand is gripping the railing so tightly that you're sure your knuckles are white.
"sorry i missed your birthday," wonwoo says, leaning in close enough that he's towering over you. it's the perfect height to k—
"it's not your fault," you say, licking your lips. "you had work. and you even called me when you were free."
"still. it doesn't make up for me not being here."
"i don't mind," you say honestly, your other hand gripping the railing for strength you don't currently possess. "you're here now."
wonwoo hums, seemingly dissatisfied. your hand's genuinely burning under his, and you resist the urge to check if it's on fire.
"well, for what it's worth," wonwoo says, turning to face you, "i hope you had a good day, and i hope i'm there for your birthday next year. like a good friend."
"you are a good friend, won," you say quietly. "the best."
you wonder if you should just give in and tell him how you feel. given you know how mature he is, you doubt he's going to shun you the way you're afraid he will, but part of you doesn't want your dynamic to change. he's so easy to talk to, and he knows so much about you, and you're afraid of having to find it all over again in another person. maybe it's for the best to let this moment pass.
"you are too, sweetheart." his thumb brushes against the back of your hand, and something in you snaps.
"would you still consider me the best if i told you i liked you?"
wonwoo blinks. in the wake of his silence you can once again hear the vehicles on the road behind you, the sounds of people around you, and maybe even your heart if you shut your eyes.
"you know," he says after a while, his grip on your hand still in place, "i've been trying to give you a chance to say that for the past few months."
your brain plays a comically loud record scratch sound. you look up at him, but he's smiling.
"what."
"i...was hoping there would be a small chance you liked me, and then jeonghan let it out one night when we were out drinking. but i couldn't make the first move because i was scared."
"you were scared? of?"
wonwoo takes his hand back and rubs his neck sheepishly. "i didn't know if he was telling me the truth or making things up. you know jeonghan."
"...yeah," you say, brain still trying to get back on track. "so right now i have one more person on my hitlist."
"whoa, what? i just...implied i liked you!"
"and i just said— wait. what?"
wonwoo laughs. "do you want to be on the same page as me?"
you nod slowly, still processing things. still not believing your luck.
"here's what we'll do, then," wonwoo says, wrapping an arm around your shoulder. "i'm going to drive you home tonight. then we can take jeonghan off your hitlist and send him some more alcohol, just as a thanks."
you wouldn't even have imagined this a few hours ago. you trail your fingers along the railing, reaching out to hold wonwoo's hand again. he meets your fingers with ease. "and what do i get in return?"
"you get to call me your boyfriend. and kiss me, if you like." wonwoo's leaning over you again. it's the perfect height to kiss you.
and he does end up kissing you, this time.

You brought your knees up to your chest, attention focused on the TV where a live broadcast of your boyfriend, Jeonghan, and his group mates, Seventeen, was airing. Jeonghan was always super excited to do any show but this show had him, and the entire group for that matter, on edge.
The reason being that one of the hosts was a very questionable person. The host, Jack, made comments that made many of the public feel uncomfortable and even with all the outcry, he was still appearing on TV. The night before as I sat with the members, talking and trying to relax for the night, the boys couldn't stop worrying about how they were going to handle any concerning comments that came from that particular host. Seungcheol and Jeonghan were trying their best to give words of encouragement and disperse the worry but you could tell Jeonghan's mind was running a 100 miles per hour with the same worry as the other members.
They finished with their introduction segment and moved onto the first topic. During the entirety, you tried to focus on what was being said but all you could really focus on was Jeonghan. The other members had taken Seungcheol and Jeonghan's advice to just do the interview as normal and for the most part, Seungcheol looked like he had also taken his advice. But Jeonghan was a different story.
He sat between Jun and Dino but you could tell his mind was analyzing every word coming out of every mouth in preparation to combat any wrong comment. Jeonghan was physically there but mentally fighting a war that hadn't even happened yet.
You pouted in concern but that was all you could do. The broadcast was live. All you could do was sit and watch and hope that the rest of the broadcast went without a hitch.
But of course, your hope was soon crushed.
It was the third and final segment called 'I Adore.' You knew about this segment because the some of the members had asked your opinion on if their items were 'okay' as an item/hobby/thing they adored. And because Jeonghan had asked your permission to use a picture of the two of you. You didn't care, the public already knew about your relationship. One more picture wouldn't hurt.
The members went through their 'I Adore' stories one by one and somehow Jeonghan was picked to go last. Probably because of the picture.
A picture of you and Jeonghan out on a date a few weeks ago pops up on the screen and the two other non-problematic hosts, Hangyeol and Kwangho, cooed at the picture.
"Would you like to explain, Jeonghan?" Hangyeol gestured towards Jeonghan.
You watched as he pulled himself out of his war with a deep breath.
"Yes, well, I adore (y/n)." Jeonghan leaned forward, resting his forearms on the table. "I adore her a lot but I couldn't bring her here so I brought a picture instead."
"This is a good alternative." Kwangho commented, "When was this taken?"
"A couple weeks ago." Jeonghan answered right away, "We were out on a shopping date looking for Dino's birthday gift, I think. She was feeling cute so we took a lot of pictures."
"They took so many pictures." Dokyeom agreed, "Like hundreds and hundreds." He exaggerated.
You rolled your eyes and smiled at his antics. The hosts and the members laugh.
"So why did you pick her for this segment?" Hangyeol asked, glancing down at his cue cards.
"Ever since we started dating, she is always supporting and encouraging me. And just when I think I know all of her little ticks, she surprises me with another one." Jeonghan explained and your heart fluttered. "(y/n)'s really cool and she always knows what I'm thinking and it's nice having someone to talk to like that."
"Ah, you must really love her." Kwangho nodded, "I can see it in your face."
Jeonghan smiled widely and blushed.
"He does." Dino agreed with the host. "Sometimes he'll ditch us to go see her."
"But wouldn't you if you had that kind of girl by your side?" Hangyeol defended Jeonghan.
"How long have you been dating?" Jack, the problematic host, questioned which made your breath hitch. The members also went silent for a second and a nervous glance was thrown between them.
"Uh, about a year or so now." Jeonghan answered confidently.
Jack nodded and let the other hosts continue. You breathed a sigh of relief with that hurdle passed.
"Actually, that's not the only picture we have of you two." Hangyeol said sheepishly.
Jeonghan looked at the hosts with a questioning look.
"We found some pictures on Twitter capturing you on your date." Hangyeol explained and a few pictures popped up on the screen.
They were of the same date but from farther away and a little later into the date after some shopping had been done.
"Fans must've taken them." You muttered to yourself not bothered as it happens sometimes.
They pull up one and focus on it. You're walking backwards talking to Jeonghan while he holds the couple of shopping bags and your bright pastel purse. You smile remembering the day with fondness.
"What's going on in this one?" Kwangho asked with genuine interest.
"Ah," Jeonghan lifts his head in remembrance of the moment, "We were leaving the shopping center and she was talking about something that I completely forget now. But I do remember having to yell at her millions of times because she was about to run into something or someone." He chuckled.
"Wait a minute," Jack chirped up and the nervous glances returned. "You said you were getting a gift for Dino, why do you have so many bags?"
Jeonghan sat up straighter, "One of the bags was Dino's gift, one was a shirt that (y/n) said I would look good in, and the other is her purse."
"Woah, he even carries her purse!" Kwangho cooed to Hangyeol in admiration of Jeonghan's act.
"Yah, he such a cool guy." Hangyeol agreed.
"He does that all the time." Seungcheol added on.
"Honestly, he's a really great boyfriend." Mingyu commented and Jeonghan hid his face in embarrassment.
"Ah, stop." Jeonghan whined and his members chuckle, Dino even patted his shoulder.
Across the interview table, Jack lowered his head and muttered something meant to go unheard. But Jeonghan's super sonic hearing heard him and he immediately snapped his head up, staring hard Jack.
"What did you say?" Jeonghan asked, his tone causing confusion between the members.
"I didn't-"
"No, please say it." Jeonghan cut Jack off and gestures for him to continue, "You said it for a reason."
Jack'glances around the studio and towards his fellow hosts for support, but they offer him none. Hangyeol and Kwangho, having heard his comment, were finally done putting up with his attitude.
"I just think that she should be able to carry her own purse. Why do you have to carry it when she obviously has her own arms." Jack shrugged nonchalantly.
You scoffed and rolled your eyes at his misguided opinion. From the TV, a few members also scoff while others lean back and cross their arms with stares as sharp as knives.
"I would carry her purse even if she had 8 arms and I had none." Jeonghan said in a slightly tensed tone. "Because I love her."
A feeling of 'yeah, you show him' was soon followed by a gut punch realization that Jeonghan just said that he loves you for the first time on TV. Ever.
"Still I don't get why she would make you carry all the bags and her purse." Jack continued his warped train of thought.
Jeonghan shook his head, "I told her to give me the bags. She actually didn't want me to carry them but I insisted."
"You shouldn't have given in then." Jack scoffed, crossed his arms, and leaned back in his chair. "You can't be that weak."
At this comment, you sat up and angrily grumbled at the TV.
"Who does he think he's calling weak? How can a person be this awful?" You wondered.
While you grumbled, the members also all leaned forward in anger at Jack's comment and the hosts started to lean away from Jack in an attempt to separate themselves from him. The entire atmosphere of the interview, even through the TV, turned icy in a second. Even as you sat on your couch at home, a shiver ran down your spine.
Jeonghan put a hand on Dino's arm, telling him to sit back down.
"I don't think it was weak." Jeonghan said with a 'you want to mess with me?' look in his eyes. "I think it's very strong of men and people to offer to carry other's things when they care for said person. You see," Jeonghan cleared his throat, "If I didn't take the bags from (y/n), she wouldn't have been able to walk backwards and talk to me so animatedly. Then I wouldn't have been able to smile and laugh at her like I am in the picture." He gestures to the screen where the picture was still up. "Then I wouldn't have been able to enjoy her enjoying herself on our date. And that would've made me disappointed. Because I want our every date to be a happy and fun time for both of us."
Listening to his defense, Jeonghan's words touched your heart and for a split second you forgot your anger and only felt love for the man you get to call yours.
Having been defeated, Jack sat silent in his chair. Kwangho and Hangyeol have successfully moved their chairs away. The other members listened intently and were all nodding their heads in agreement.
"I think we would all do the same." Hangyeol commented, trying to diffuse the tention. He then turned to the other members, "Wouldn't we?"
The other members nodded while Seungcheol actually spoke.
"Without hesitation." He nodded, giving one last glare towards Jack.
"Well, we have run out of time. But thank you for stopping by and giving us your time." Knwagho said to the members. They all nod and give their thanks except for Jeonghan. He was just staring at Jack with a glare as deadly as lasers.
Seungcheol led the group in their exit greeting and Jeonghan barely managed to make the ending bow before the show cuts off.
As commercials ran past the screen, you just sat on the couch, scrolling through posts and comments of the interview. Many expressed anger at the problematic host but a greater number were praising Jeonghan for his eloquent response to such a comment.
And not 10 minutes after the interview ended, a call from Jeonghan lit up your phone.
"HI there." You answered, already forgetting most of the annoyance you had from earlier.
"Hey." Jeonghan replied, his voice sounding tired with a hint of anger around the edges. "What are you doing right now?"
"Me?" You asked, "I'm sitting on the couch scrolling through my phone."
Jeonghan breathed out, "So you watched it, huh?"
"Yeah, I saw it." You said with a nod.
"Ugh, I was really hoping you didn't." Jeonghan muttered.
"Why not?" You wondered. You could see him running a hand through his hair.
"It was just so ridiculous. What he said." Jeonghan groaned.
You chuckled, "Yeah, it was pretty ridiculous but you handled it like an absolute pro." You offered, "Made me extremely proud, too."
"Really?" He asked, his voice perking up slightly.
"Oh totally." You answered, "You put him in his place and made me feel like a princess. I swear I think my heart exploded."
Jeonghan finally laughed and you felt relieved to hear his laughter.
"Where are you?" You asked after a couple seconds.
"In a taxi." He answered.
"Where are you going?" You questioned, "Shouldn't you be with the others going back to the dorm?"
"I should be." Jeonghan said, "But after that interview, I really needed to see you so I sort of ran off."
"Jeonghan!" You scolded him.
"It's fine!" He defended himself, "I told Seungcheol so I didn't entirely ditch without telling anyone."
"Did you even get out of your interview clothes?" You asked, knowing it takes Seventeen ages to get into and out of outfits.
There was a pause before Jeonghan answered.
"...No." His answer made you laugh.
"You're lucky you have clothes here." You told him before moving to the bathroom to retrieve some makeup removing supplies.
"I'm lucky I've got you." He said softly.
"Yes you are lucky you've got me." You joked and Jeonghan chuckled.
"I'll be there in like 20 minutes. Wait for me." He told you.
"I'll be here with makeup remover and open arms." You said before hanging up.
And as he said, 20 minutes later, Jeonghan punched in the lock code and strode into your home, straight into your arms. He rested his chin over your shoulder while squeezing you tightly.
"Hey superhero." You smiled and cuddled into his hug.
"Hey." Jeonghan relaxed and his shoulders sagged from exhaustion.
"Go get changed and then I'll take off your make up for you." You instructed him and he followed without a moment's hesitation.
You sat on the couch, set the make up wipes near your lap, and waited for Jeonghan to come back. After many of his schedules, his make up would be wiped off or he'd be with the members. But on occasion, he'd come to yours, make up on, and you would take off his make up for him. It was one of his favorite things. You often offered when you knew he had a stressful day because it was something that helped him to relax.
After a few minutes, Jeonghan returned out of his interview outfit and in pajamas. He flopped onto the couch and rested his head in you lap, eyes closed, ready for his make up to be removed.
As you wiped away the layers of makeup, his bare face that you loved so much began to show.
"Did you see the comments?" You asked, wiping down his cheek.
"No." Jeonghan said, "The members were blowing up my phone with texts so I had to pay attention to them."
"Well, people are very impressed by you and your comments." You told him, "I'm sure people will be talking about it tomorrow."
"Eh, I just said what needed to be said. That host needed to be put in his place." Jeonghan scrunched up his nose and you wiped that area to soothe out the skin.
"And you did just that." You told him. "So what do you want to do?"
"Lay here forever." Jeonghan answered.
You threw away the makeup wipe and reached for another, "I can do that."
"Forever?" Jeonghan glanced up at you with a questioning look.
"Forever." You smiled and leaned down to give him a kiss.
Happily, Jeonghan snuggled deeper into your lap and you resumed wiping his face.
"Next time bring me." You said absently mindedly.
"And let you be attacked like that? No way." Jeonghan shut down the idea immediately.
"But then you wouldn't have to be in a situation like you were today." You explained, wiping away the last bit of stubborn foundation.
Jeonghan opened his eyes and looked up at you. "(y/n)."
"Jeonghan." You copied his sentence type.
"I would go through that alone on national TV a million times over before I would even consider letting you go through it." Jeonghan told you. "I would go through it again if it meant I got to come home to you."
You smiled at his sincere words, "Then keep coming home to me."
He smiled widely and pulled you down for another kiss, one deeper than the one you had given him. One full of 'I love you's' to last a hundred years. And they all belonged to you and you alone.

Not So Cold-Hearted Pt.10
Tumblr media
Summary: Y/N, a member of a popular newly debut girl group and Wonwoo has what some may call a relationship with emotional ambivalent. Will their relationship remain cold-blooded or will they finally come to an agreement and become something more?
Pairing: Jeon Wonwoo x Reader
masterlist
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
“I have something to tell you...” a voice said as he approached closer, his hand caressing your arm as the other lifts your chin. “I like you.” he leans in before you could see who this face was his soft lips touches yours. Your eyes slowly flutter opened as the mysterious face slowly comes to focus of-
“Y/N WAKE UP FOR GOODNESS SAKE!” your eyes shot opened as you waited for your eyesight to come to focus. You saw the faces of your members looking down on you as you sat up, rubbing your eyes trying to figure out who that mysterious male was in your dream.
“Get ready ASAP our manager messed up and forgot to tell us we have filming today!” You halted and looked at your members with widen eyes as they all scrambled out, getting ready as well. You jumped out of bed and rushed to the bathroom, getting ready.
“Where schedule do we have today?” You asked Nari are you looked through your closet, figuring out what to wear.
“Apparently we’re guests on Knowing Bros.” Excitement started growing as you remembered binge watching episodes and laughing at how funny they were. This was also the first going to be the first variety show your group will be featured in since your group had to turn down previous ones due to interfering events. “I heard Seventeen will be guesting as well.” Your hands stopped moving as memories of that night filled your mind. It’s been a couple of days since the incident as the store owner told you to come to work next week. You shook off the weird sensation in your chest and changed into your outfit. You decided to keep minimal since you know that you’ll be asked to change into school uniforms so you wore some jeans and a short sleeve button-up. You decided to wear your contacts when your backstage so you stuff it into your purse, wore your glasses and hurried out with your members. Walking down the stairs, you saw Seventeen heading into their van as well a few houses down. Your eyes gazed over Wonwoo who was also stepping out of the dorm as he rubbed his eyes like he just woke up.
“Good morning Y/N!” You looked over and saw Dokyeom and Seungkwan waving energetically as Wonwoo turned to look as well, tilting his head like something was different about you but he couldn’t tell. You waved back before bidding them goodbye, telling them you’ll see them on set. Arriving at the studio, you saw a crowd of fansites and press with cameras flashing as they waited for you to get out. It’s been a while since your group’s recent comeback so seeing this many people caused you to feel uneasy. Stepping out of the car, camera flashes hits your eyes with the sunlight, as you squinted and covered your face and followed your members. You suddenly bumped into a what you assumed was your member’s back since you were behind them all along so you held on to the button of their top and followed behind to not get lost in the crowd.
“Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve seen that many cameras.” Na On lets out an airy laugh as your members entered the waiting area.  The staff started handing out outfits. It was a baby blue striped buttoned blouse with different designs of navy blue skirts. One of the staff came over with a huge smile on her face as she handed you your outfit.
“I’m a really big fan of you!” She shyly confessed as you thanked her and signed her phone case. “I choose this uniform specially for you. I hope you don’t mind wearing it?” You looked at the outfit which was blended in with the concept of your member’s outfit but noticed that your top hung a little lower than the rest of the members, making you uncertain if it was appropriate for show. “Don’t worry. I got it approved by the director. It’ll be a dream if you wore this.” She reassured as you give her a nervous smile and nodded, changing to the outfit.
“Y/N, the outfit looks so nice on you!” You walked out behind the curtains of the change room as your members started complimenting you. Shyly smiling, you glanced at your top, pulling it up a little to cover more skin when the director came in, telling you that recording starts in 5 minutes. After the staff touched up on your make up, you and your members walked towards the setup when you stopped and turned around.
“I forgot to change into my contacts!” You started walking back into the waiting room but the staff stopped you, saying that there’s no time and you’ll be fine with glasses. You’ve always worn contacts or took off your glasses whenever you were on set or performing which meant that this would be the first time the public sees you in glasses. Your palms started sweating as you thought of the reactions you’ll be receiving. You stood behind the old fashion wooden doors as Seventeen walked onto set one by one, introducing themselves before your group.
“Alright, I’m pretty sure you guys have seen this show before and know what’s up. It’s part of the show so please think of a line of introducing yourself. For this episode’s theme, we’re going for a rebel bad boy/girl vibe so give us your badass introductions!” The words of the director back in the waiting echos in your head as your thought of how you would introduce yourself. Once Seventeen finished introducing themselves and took their seats, the staff backstage motions us to head out one by one. As your members stepped out one by one, you took a peek through the door as saw a endless line of cameras, capturing faces from every angle and the set was extended from the large amount of people. Skye, who’s in front of you, steps out as you mentally prepared for what to say when your line disappears in your head. Panicking, Nari gently rubs your shoulder from behind.
“Y/N, you’re practically vibrating right now. It’ll be alright. You’ve been on stage so many times and this is just the same. You can do it!” Nari whispers encouragement as you tried pumping yourself up.
“So... Is there anyone next?” You heard one of the cast members speak as you took a deep breath. You saw everyone peering in as you got into mood and walked through the door with the best rebel expression you can do.
“She’s not fragile like a flower. She’s fragile like a bomb. Hello, my name is Y/N!” You walked as you saw surprised faces from everyone before you stood beside your members and bowed.
“We’ve got a real badass in the house!” Ho-Dong cheered as your cheeks turned beet red when everyone started clapping. “She kind of ruined it with the bow but I mean ignoring that part, it’s real badass!” everyone started laughing as you hid your face behind one of your member’s shoulder. Calming down, you faced forward as the remaining members came out. Your eyes wondered around everyone as they landed on Wonwoo who was looking around until they met yours also. He was wearing a white long sleeve with a navy blue tie and school uniform jacket along with his glasses. You darted your eyes away and saw Minghao softly smiling at you as you smiled back at him. Your eyes gazed over Wonwoo as you saw him with a somewhat confused face like in the morning.
“Now, we are so excited to have you and Seventeen here today! We’ve heard that the fandom gave you the nickname ‘Sister’s of Seventeen’ correct?” Heechul asks as you and your members nodded. “Since today is your first variety show, why don’t you tell us your role and something interesting about yourself? I’m sure the fans already know majority of it but it’ll be a little ice breaker for us!” He suggest as Remi introduced herself as the leader and described how your group was split into 3 subunits, consisting 3 members like Seventeen. After Skype spoke she turned to face you as you blankly stared at her.
“O-Oh, is it my turn?” You stuttered as you saw Seventeen, the cast members and your members break into laughter.
“Y/N sure has a duo personality. How adorable.” Kyung-Hoon complimented as you cleared your throat.
“As you may know, I’m Y/N. I’m from ___ and I’m the dancer in the group along with Skye and Yun Hee.” You smiled as the cast members nodded.
“Ah, an international member! Your charm and looks really gives off a refreshing vibe. Especially with the outfit!” Young-Chul compliment as you thank him trying to not think too much of the outfit.
“Y/N is really special. That’s why we gave her a nickname.” Remi adds in as you turned to face her and gave her a look to not continue what she’s saying.
“A nickname? Please do share.” The cast members and Seventeen all waiting in anticipating while you hid your face in your hands.
“She’s called the Hidden Gem in the group.” Yun Hee smiles as everyone looked at each other in confusion.
“Why’s she called the Hidden Gem?” Seungcheol asked out of curiosity. All your members turned to look at you with a smirk on their face before they spoke.
“She’s not really fond of a lot of attention as you can tell but she’s really talented. Even though she’s in the DNCE unit, she can sing and rap which makes her the Hidden Gem of our group. We’ve never spoke about it because she always cut us off before we even got to it. So instead we just called her ‘bean’ because of her adorable height” Mira explains as you pouted, embarrassed but the cast members told you to not be embarrassed and proud to carry such unique name.
“Alright before we start on with the actual show, I have one more question for Miss Y/N.” Ho-Dong turns to face you as you slowly felt yourself sweat, nervous about what he’s going to ask. “Do those glasses have prescription? Or are they just for style?” He pointed at your spec as your mentally scolded yourself for not switching into contacts.
“Ah, they have prescription. I can’t see without them so I have to wear them or contacts.” You explained as you saw the cast nodding but the boy band in complete shock since they didn’t know you had bad vision.
“Now that I take a look at it, doesn’t Wonwoo have the same pair?” Jang-Hoon turns around and inspect his glasses as his eyes widen from the sudden attention. “Do they have prescription as well?”
“Yes. I can’t see without them as well.” He calmly replies as smirks started forming in the cast member’s faces.
“Is this a new thing? Did I just crack the code or something” Jang-Hoon asks as everyone looked confused. You looked over to Wonwoo who was staring directly at you, sending chills to your spine. “Is this how idols secretly buy couple items without the fans knowing? Did I just figure it out?” He asks as your face instantly turned red and saw Wonwoo cover his face while everyone else started smirking and teasing you and Wonwoo, making the two of you fall into a dark shade of red. “Alright alright, I’m just joking. But they do call me the love-reader for a reason.” Jang-Hoon winks as you tried calming your bursting heart, too afraid to look at Wonwoo.

Redamancy, Chapter 7 - Lee Jihoon
Tumblr media
Pairing: Husband!JihoonxReader
Genre: Angst, the tiniest amount of Fluff
Chapter: one | two | three | four | five | six | SEVEN | eight | nine | end | epilogue |
Word Count: 2.9 K
A/N: I kinda like this one...? Enjoy (?)
Recommended Song: Seventeen - I Don’t Know
--
You have spent the last four days going through every photo album that exists in your house.
Your arm and shoulder are great now, but your head isn’t. And Jihoon knows nothing about any of these. You haven’t had the chance to tell him since he has been going home later and later every night. At first, it was purely out of spite. But when the next day at work Soonyoung had the gut to come at him again, he assumed that you confided in Soonyoung, and he became exceptionally mad.
Only God knows why he’s like that. It’s not like there was a history between you and Soonyoung. It’s just that Soonyoung’s the north to his south. He’s everything someone wanted or wanted to be. Unlike him, Soonyoung’s never been afraid to show his affection and vulnerability, never backed away from confrontation, and he’s never given up on anything he thought worth fighting for.
Which makes Jihoon believes that Soonyoung’s never completely given you up to him. And that after all this time, he’s never stopped loving you.
Jihoon slams his fist on his desk when he repeats Soonyoung comments of disbelief that hinted a soft warning if he doesn’t make you his top priority. The sound of skin and bones hitting the wood shifts in space and becomes the sound of thick photo albums falling from the coffee table on your side. You don’t remember how many times you have gone through that particular album, the one that holds the memory of your wedding day. The two of you are happily captured in most of the frames. There’s a picture where Soonyoung stands on Jihoon’s right, Seungkwan on your left, and Dokyeom and Jeonghan kneeling in front of you, from the mics on their hands you figure they were the emcees. Another where all Seventeen members gather around you and acting as guards. And there’s one of Jihoon standing, looking expectantly at the aisle for your entrance, under the wedding arch.  It’s made from baby’s breath and its center point’s characterized by a lily of the valley wreath sticking to a big tree behind it.
You have stared at that picture for too long that your mind wandered to that morning when you woke up. For you, the world was clouded under your medication, but the light in Jihoon’s eyes, it was all too lucid. It was very much like the one you saw on that picture, full of nervous energy and more importantly, hope. But for you, hope has become such a frail thing. It keeps on thinning to nonexistent every time you reach the end page of the album.
You grab for your hair as you let out a growl that fades into a whimper. No picture in your house is able to ignite the memory hidden somewhere in your head. And looking through frozen moments that you don’t remember existing feels like a punishment. It only makes you feel like you are barred away from the world and that the universe is conspiring against you. So you scream. Then you remember the phone calls from your kids these last two days. And it occurs to you that there’s a possibility that you won’t ever remember them again or their value in your life. And you don’t know what’s going to happen then. And you scream. Again and again, until your throat itches and your scream comes out as a cough.
After one long hour of staring at the rings that tie the two of you together, one simple band with a diamond in the middle and another adorning diamonds all around it, and wondering what Jihoon had in mind when he put them back on your limp finger, the melancholy evaporates, settling the remaining desperation left from your scream. And therefore, returns your ability to think and conclude that being locked inside won’t do you any good. So you take your phone from atop the coffee table to call Soonyoung and then pause for a millisecond to smile, realizing that he’s wrong. He’s not an alternative. This time, it is actually him that you want to reach for. Not Seungkwan, nor Jihoon.
“Hello? Y/n? Everything’s okay?” Soonyoung’s worry is expressed perfectly by his questions, and somehow this draws out a laugh out of you. “Y/n? Hey, why’re you laughing?”
“Nothing. It’s just amusing how you constantly think that something’s happening to me.”
“Well, I’m just... Worry shows that you care, you know?”
“Right, right. Let’s go to Han River again,” you say, going straight to the point.
“Huh? Another flashback?”
“No. More like trying to get another one or two. So, what do you say?”
There is a short pause on Soonyoung’s end before he sighs. “I’m so sorry, Y/n. I need to perfect a choreo before I show it to the lil’ boys. They’ll be having a mini concert soon, and there’s this remix version that”—he lets out another sigh—“I really want to help you. But I’m sorry. Really.”
“Ah.”
Soonyoung notices that the excitement has gone from your voice, so he asks, “Can’t Jihoon go with you? I can go to his studio now and—“
“Soonyoung, no.” Your voice is stern when you cut him, knowing well enough what’s that going to cost you.
“Oh, shit. I’m sorry. I mean Seungkwan. Seungkwan, yeah. Can’t he go?”
“I don’t know,” you mumble.
“Wh- How? You… Wait, you haven’t called him?”
“No, Soonyoung. I wanted to go with you.”
“Oh? Shit. God! I’m- I’m so sorry. I complained about being an alternative, but now when you call me first, I… I can’t come. I’m so, so sorry, Y/n. Wait a sec, I’ll call the manager. Maybe—“
“Soonie, it’s okay. You don’t have to.”
“Y/n… Once again, I’m sorry. Call and ask Seungkwan, okay? If he can’t go, let me know.”
You didn’t call Seungkwan. You called a taxi instead. That was how you ended up sitting in front of the Big Tree alone at eight in the evening, holding a posy of white lily of the valley that you bought from a nearby florist.
It’s not completely white, the flower. You notice the tinge of pink that grows warmer by the minute, and as the heat reaches your cheek, you learn that already, the sun is burning low on the horizon. The picture of Jihoon and the dusk on his cheek are painted anew on your brain, and a sad smile tugs on your lips. You are tired. One second you are the sun, alive, high on the sky, and the next you are the moon, dead and cold without your sole source of life.
You raise your right hand to the front of your face, and as light bounces from the diamonds on your rings, you sigh. You had come with the determination to remember, but now you’re charged with the powerful urge to forget. You are a different person for Jihoon. You are not the person he expected to wake up in the lieu of his wife. You are just an invalid. Just someone who’s stuck in the past. In the memory of a different Jihoon.
As Jihoon bursts through your thought, flowers clutched a little too hard in his hand, you throw away the replica that’s in yours.
“You don’t like it?” Jihoon picks up at the end of your memory clip, and you want nothing but for him to shut up.
“I know that this is nothing like the hill that you found, um, your Magic Shop, you called it?” He peeks at you then continues after your confirmation, “It’s… There’s a lot of crowds since we’re in the Han River area. I’m sorry. I should’ve looked for something better.”
“It’s okay, Ji. This is more than enough. I don’t think I would need something like this anymore. I’ve promised that I won’t run again, haven’t I?”
Jihoon nods and throws his head back as he sighs. “I’m sorry that you have to lose your place. They shouldn’t have exposed it like that.”
“It’s okay. The hill isn’t mine by law or anything. Besides, it happened a long time ago.”
“I’m sorry that I just show you this now. It’s just… I have to leave for about two years, and I don’t want you to think that you have nowhere to go.” He raises his gaze to meet yours, and it’s a moment too late for him to realize what implication he has made. “No! I mean… N-not that I’m saying I’ve replaced y-your Magic Shop or something. And! Don’t- Don’t get me wrong, I want to, I-“
“Jihoon, shut up,” you cut him with a faux glare before you break into a grin. And when your mirth transforms into something more serene, you whisper to him, “You have been, and you still are.”
But you’re not anymore, you add to the still image of smiling Jihoon.
Your legs suddenly feel weak, and you’re struggling to get up. When you do, you start to walk slowly but purposefully to the only place you know you can go to forget all of your problems, including Jihoon.
Even though running is what your heart set to, this is the only thing you’re capable of doing on your current state. You move your feet forward one step at a time until you see the familiar solar-powered ground lamps forming a walkway that leads you to a garden. One that in spite of its minimum size, you insist on calling majestic. There are meters of yellow lights that you see people use for Christmas weaved around the crown of a big tree to its trunk and crept on the circumference of the ground. They’re beautiful. And you almost laugh at their futile effort to replace the role of the early morning sun. You walk closer to the white and yellow camellia, the reason for planting them rings loudly in your head. Waiting and longing, that’s what each of them symbolizes.
It surprises you that someone takes care of your—this—garden after you left. You stumbled upon this place after you strayed too far away from home. Walking to the direction of the dying sun, something you used to do whenever life or people hit you a tad bit harder than you could take. When you had found this place, it’s just a small hill hiding from the ruckus of a regular city. There’s one big tree near the middle of it—your Big Tree—and bushes and short grass covering random spots on its surface. You had left a small box of instant food and a hammock tied onto the tree’s strongest branch one day on your visit. It was one of your roughest weeks, and you had thought that the Hill would be your last destination if nothing else had worked. But when you returned three days later, and you found your supplies to be intact, you’re sure that no one frequented the Hill as you did. That’s how you claimed the place as your Magic Shop, a place that’s very much alike your Haven.
You started bringing things that would help you for when you took refuge on the Hill. You planted flowers and lamps, and you buried a trunk with books, blankets, and miscellaneous stuff. It became your second home—or your home, per se, as your apartment never really felt like one.
You walk forward near the edge of the hill, looking at the peonies, buttercups, and anemone hepaticas you planted for their beauty. Hanakotoba. If only there’s something for your sense of incompleteness or your tendency to run. That flower then would easily pass as your reincarnation. Now that you think about it, maybe there is something. Maybe you just don’t know what. The way you don’t know whether you’re always running from something or towards something.
The sight of anemone hepaticas in between the rosy peonies and yellow buttercups reminds you of your former obsession with forget-me-not. Both flowers are somewhat similar in color, that’s why with the minimum light from your artificial sun, you have trouble in your search of the latter. As your eyes float around flowers, your head registers the meaning of the blue-purple flowers. It is true love. Or memories. And you’re suddenly enraged by this. You feel mocked to the point where you jump to your knees to inspect each flower in detail, just to find one forget-me-not. You reproach yourself in your head for how stupid you are. Both flowers are distinct. How you cannot point it out is so beyond you. You are talking about your favorite flower here—at least back when you only see lily of the valley for the beauty that it is.
Lily of the valley, you mouth as you fall into a sitting position, your gaze is no longer combing through the shrubs and flowers. It was until lily of the valley. It was until Jihoon.
Forget-me-not, true love. Memories. White camellia, waiting. Yellow camellia, longing. Primrose, desperation. Lily of the valley, the promise of happiness.
Your head spins as you recall every flower and its meaning, creating a new set of loop for your brain to play.
Memories. Waiting. Desperation. True love. Longing. Promise of happiness. Longing. True love. Waiting. Memories. Desperation. Promise of happiness. Promise of happiness, promise of happiness, promise of happiness, the word resonating in your ears, followed by the dusk on Jihoon’s cheek on your vision.
The first sob that escapes you sounds a lot more like a whimper, your hand finds its way to your chest, clutching it hard as you close your eyes.
“Y/n.”
Your eyes are open in a snap, and you turn your body around, facing the sturdy trunk of a tree you once called a house.
“I have written my vows and revised it until I fell asleep on my desk in the studio. I thought it would be the same as songwriting, but it’s not, Y/n. I found that it’s hard to find the right word, and I don’t know whose idea it was to think that abandoning that vows scratch is a smart move.” You can’t help but chuckle along with the audience at the small snicker that comes out of Soonyoung who is standing next to Jihoon, signaling that it’s indeed his idea. You pull your lower lip between your teeth and tighten your hold on Jihoon’s hands as you focus your attention back to his words.
“But as I stand here in front of you, I am back at Pledis’ lobby, just walking with tears in my eyes like a lost child. I didn’t bump into you, Y/n. I was looking for you. And you, without any words, dropped those lunch packages for us and brought me to your arms. When I let go and apologized, you said to me, ‘Don’t. Cry.’ And I was so confused, but you’re not finished. ‘You have a lot of tears, Jihoon. Cry all of them out. Come to me and cry. And let me wipe them clean. That way I know you’ll be okay.’
“And I cried some more in your embrace. I cried because I couldn’t see myself standing beside you, couldn’t see you standing beside me for as long as I want.” You shake your head a few times at this, tears already starting to fall down your cheeks. ”I want all of you, Y/n, the broken and intact pieces of you. I want you to make good of those words you said to me, and I want you to allow me to abide by my promise to you.”
You nod frantically. He’s taken too long with his vows, and you just want to dive into his arm and close your lips around him to shut him up. But then you and the audience laugh, for Jihoon continuous, “Don’t agree just yet, I am asking your whole lifetime, Y/n. I can’t accept months, years, or anything but that.” He pauses, and you think he’s done but no. He clears his throat once before he inhales. “Y/n, I love you. I can be a total doofus sometimes, like saying that you can’t agree just yet. Please, don’t heed that. You can’t not agree. Because I love you. And I need you. And I need to stop talking because I’m embarrassing myself. But that’s okay. Because I love you. And I’ll always do.”
The sound that forces its way out of your throat is full of dire. It is so raw that your body shudders. Your cry of anguish is amplified in the otherwise silent night. You grab for your hair and pull at it, face wet from your tears and mouth moving restlessly to mold your hurt into words and the air into oxygen. But all of these halts abruptly when your hair is caught on the diamond of your engagement ring. Your attention shifts to the ring on top of it, your wedding band.
A word that resembles nothing of its consisting alphabets shrieks out of your body as you take out those two rings from your finger and throw it away as you did your posy, the action killing the last fire within you. And you collapse in a whimper.
Liar.
You gather your feeble limbs to your chest and let your head fall on your knees, back to crying in silent, as you usually do.
When the wind becomes harsher to your skin you reach for your phone in your pocket. Your voice is frail and defeated when you start, “Seungkwan…”

The Costume (Chapter 9)
Warnings - Drowning, mentions of death
Tumblr media
"You're such a good doll, aren't you?"
Dokyeon stood like a figurine in the middle of the room, the costume shop owner circling him.
"What's next, Mr. Y-"
"Oh, please Dokyeom, call me Seojun," the man took off his hood, staring at the screens of the traps that were set up, someone had their eyes gouged out, a pair that were having sex had been impaled with a spear, "my plan is working. Where’s Y/N?”
“She’s with Jeonghan, walking through the halls.”
“Good.”
"Also, sir, Mingyu has awaken."
"Excellent," Seojun squatted in front of Mingyu, his hands on his knees as a creepy smile grew along his face, “wakey wakey, Minnie!”
“Wh-who the fuck are you?!” Mingyu jumped in the chair, his body staying in the seat, the chains attached to his wrist jingling at the motion.
“I’m Son Seojun, you may know me as Mr. Yoo, the costume shop owner.”
“That’s impossible, you died, the radio said so!”
“Oh, you dull giant,” Seojun tsked the captured Mingyu, “You’re like the walking stereotype of being good-looking, but such a fucking dumbass. That was just a corpse I already had. Burned the toes and fingertips, pulled the teeth out and set it up with a Reverse Bear trap, and viola! You’re dead and able to control your new toy.”
Seojun becked Dokyeom closer to him, his eyes bright red.
“You see, I knew some poor, unfortunate soul was going to pick out this costume, the fact that it was such a nice person too makes it easier to frame someone like you.”
“Someone like me?”
“You’re perfect. You’re handsome, you’re well-mannered, you’re, as much as I hate to say it, smart,” Seojun leaned up to be nose to nose with Mingyu, “We all go a little mad sometimes. The amazing Mr. Tall, Dark and Handsome finally fucking snaps. You’re going to be blamed for all of this, they’ll find you in the control room, you didn’t want to be blamed, so you drank some poison. Dokyeom, get back to Y/N and Jeonghan, I have to take some time to get acquainted with our new friend.”
“Yes, sir.”

Y/N held the phone in the air, no signal appearing, the anger flooding her body when she felt a tap on her shoulder.
“Jesus Christ, Jeonghan! Warn a girl, dammit.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“Did you find anything?”
“No, let’s check the next floor down,” Jeonghan continued on the false journey to find a shred of hope.
Walking through the 3rd floor, Y/N and Jeonghan heard a cry for help. Rushing to the room, they found Hoshi in an empty vat, 8 water jugs surrounded the vat, suspended by chains.
“Hoshi! Calm down,” Y/N stopped Hoshi from pounding on the vat and potentially causing an even worse situation than the one he’s already in, “I’ll talk you through this one, okay?”
“Okay. What did I do first?”
“The chains on your ankles and waist are keys, give me a second to find if there's any out here."
Y/N started running around the room, Jeonghan stuck in stunned stillness. The first water jug broke open, pouring all over his costume.
"I found it!" Y/N spotted the first key, throwing it into the vat, Hoshi catching it and jamming the small metal into the hole of only one shackle.
“It’s not working!” Hoshi wiggled the key, the shackle refusing to let go, throwing it in frustration, “How the hell do I get out of here?!”
“I’m trying to find out! Have you seen if the key works on the other.”
Hoshi slushed the water around, the key invisible to his eye, “I don’t know where it went!”
“How do you not know where it went?!” Before Hoshi could answer, two more waters tank fell onto him, the water now up to his waist, “Hoshi, I’ll keep looking!”
Jeonghan was still standing in silence, watching Y/N run around the room, looking for any sort of key. Hoshi noticed Jeonghan picked up a small plank from the floor, walking over to Y/N with it raised above his head.
“Hoshi, I think I fou-”
“Y/N, look out!”
Whack!

Click. Click.
"Light check, please." My right hand man, Jongmin, called out. Then a moment later, the lights switched through every color they could.
I stayed behind the camera waiting for a moment to slip away to the dressing room. But of course, the pre shoot preparations were as  always the busiest and most chaotic times. As one of the favorite photographers for Seventeen, I was recruited to shoot their Season's Greetings last year and was asked to return again this year. Which how could I have denied the request when the one requesting was my own boyfriend, Seungkwan.
"(y/n)?" One of my newer assistants, Somin, called out to me, "Do you want to check these?" She asked pointing towards the screen front of her. I nodded and walked over to the computer.
I chuckled, "How can I check it when all it's only shots of the background?"
She tilted her head to the side, "Oh, you're right. Sorry."
I shook my head, "Don't be. Can you get one of the staff members to stand in frame?" She nodded quickly and got out of her seat to find somebody.
I walked back to the camera and began fiddling with the settings as the lights changed to match what was needed for the shoot. Reds and blues and purples for a fun first shoot.
"I went to find a staff but the other members pushed him out of the dressing room and told me to use him instead." Somin returned.
I looked up at her and standing behind her was Seungkwan smiling sheepishly at me. I laughed, loving the way he was brought to me instead of me having to go to him. "Seungkwan, can you?" I asked nodding towards the set.
"Are we starting already?" He asked giving me a quick hug as Somin walked away.
I shook my head, "Nope, I just have to check a few things." I informed him but he still didn't release me. Though I enjoyed it thoroughly, we were about to start a large shoot and his members would show up at any moment.
"Seungkwan?" He hummed in a simple response, "Coups is coming." I lied and faster than one could say "Seventeen," Seungkwan released me and walked in front of the camera.
"Right here is good?" He asked looking around nervously for his leader and the teasing that would have surely followed if Coups had really been there.
I suppressed a laugh and nodded but Seungkwan caught on.
"That was a lie." He chuckled at himself.
I nodded and started to snap some shots of him laughing at himself as testers. After a few, I stopped to check the settings.
"How are they looking?" I asked Somin.
"They look good." She started but trailed off slightly.
"But?" I pushed, silently encouraging her to speak her thoughts. I leaned down and took in the pictures, immediately catching what needed to be fixed.
"I think the center mark is off and the one balloon in the back should be moved to the left a little." She explained, "I think it would look more natural that way."
I smiled at her with pride, "Good, I also think the center mark should be moved but I didn't notice the balloon. Can you move it? I'll get the center mark."
She nodded and we moved towards where Seungkwan was still standing, hands clasped in front of him, looking around a little awkwardly.
"Did I do okay?" He asked as I got closer.
"Do you always ask your photographers so many questions?" I questioned him with a small smirk.
"No, but it's you." He tried to explain.
"What does that matter?" I nudged him to the side and knelt down to do what I needed to. He bent down in front of me with his hands wrapped around his knees and his eyes watching me work.
"Because you're my girlfriend and I want to make sure I look good in front of you." He answered with a matter-of-fact tone.
Slapping the mark into place, I stood back up. "You always look good, Seungkwan. Now get up, I need to check it again."
He quickly stood up, hands in his pockets. "Shoot away." He said with a simple smile.
I clicked away and simultaneously checked the monitors. Somin gave her nod of approval and my head followed suit. Everything was set.
"We're ready." I told one of their managers.
They nodded, "I'll go check on the members." And they walked away.
I stretched my neck and arms out, preparing for a loud but fun shoot.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Seungkwan shaking his head.
"What?" I asked him, straightening out.
"You should do this one instead." He stated and dropped into a squat.
"But your pants." I protested, not wanting him to ruin his outfit.
"It's fine." He dismissed my concern and began doing his infamous swelling reducing exercise. When he noticed I wasn't following him, he stopped, "Come on (y/n). It's a good for you."
"I think I'm good." I smiled, embarrassed at his antics.
"Oh come on, it's a really good." He pouted but I still shook my head. He then walked towards me in attempts to make me do the stretch but I ran away from him laughing.
He caught me near the center mark and spun me around, arms secured around my waist. In the midst of our little moment, we failed to hear the 12 other members walking in until the flash blinked around us. Seungkwan immediately put me down, making sure I was steady on my feet before completely releasing me.
"Ahhhh, Seungkwan!" Mingyu exclaimed from behind the camera, a huge smile plastered on his face. "You and (y/n) look so cute!"
"Yah, why don't you ever look that cute with us?" Hoshi questioned.
Seungkwan's cheeks blushed bright red even through his makeup and he tried to hide behind me. I laughed as I moved towards the camera but he kept following me.
"This must be why he asked (y/n) to be our photographer. So he can look his cutest." Dokyeom continued to tease.
I caught Seungcheol's gaze as I reached the camera and gave him a quick head shake, signaling that he should stop the teasing.
He received my message well and clapped his hands together, "Alright, we should introduce ourselves."
Mingyu gave me a pat on the back before joining the others, Seungkwan included.
As usual, Seungcheol led their greeting before giving a little speech.
"Please take care of us today. It sounds like it's going to be a long shoot but we'll do our best to make it fun for everyone." He said with a warm smile. "Thank you for being here today." He finished and then began a round of applause.
I clapped my hands together quietly and took in a breath to start giving orders.
"Members, gather in the center please." I ordered and all 13 members moved as one big blob onto the set. "Alright, pose and smile at me." I snapped shot after shot as they smiled and moved poses every so often. "Now laugh as if Wonwoo's just said the funniest thing in the world." I told them as Wonwoo stood in the middle of the group.
"But he doesn't usually say anything so he's not that funny." Dino stated with a straight face.
"What do you mean?" Wonwoo exclaimed, "I can be funny!" He laughed, joining the others and I got to work capturing their wide smiles.
"Alright, mix up, mix up." I called and they moved around, standing in different spots and we repeated the same process twice more.
"First unit?" I asked when we'd captured enough group photos.
"Vocal unit." Jun exclaimed happily.
"Alright, the others can rest for now." Then I turned my attention to the five who were already making their way towards the set. "Youngest on the left, oldest on the right please." I told them. I watched a moment of panic cross Dokyeom's face before Seungkwan slapped his shoulder.
"Hyung, I'm the only one younger than you." Seungkwan and Dokyeom shared a laugh while the other three quickly lined up: Jeonghan, Joshua, then Woozi.
Giggling to myself, I set myself up behind the camera.
"Okay," I mindlessly stated taking in their stick straight stances, standing straight at me. They continued to stare at me as I raised up from the lense. "Can you wrap an arm around the person next to you and lean your head slightly to the right?" I instructed their movements.
Jeonghan, Joshua, Woozi, and Dokyeom all followed my instructions but Seungkwan took on glance to his right then playfully glared at me.
"Oh! Is Seungkwan already getting angry?" Minghao called out from somewhere behind me.
"Seungkwan, just cross your arms and lean your head." I told him, ignoring the quips from the other members though Seungkwan's cheeks had already started to turn pink.
Seungkwan quickly followed my instructions and I took my place behind the camera again.
"Alright, smiles!" I said and instantly all five gave me bright smiles. Snapping the photos, Jongmin gave sounds of approval.
"Ahhhh, nice! Nice!" He clapped loudly, making Dokyeom flinch.
"Okay, I got my pose in. Gather how you want and smile pretty." I told them with a smile. They gathered in a small pod and smiled just as brightly.
Click. Click. Click.
The photos flowed in with ease and the members gave their approvals. Then it was time to move onto to solo shots for this set.
"First member, let's start." I called out while looking at some poses we had preselected to try.
"Seungkwan, of course." Jeonghan pushed the youngest forward.
"Ah, hyung." Seungkwan whined.
"Alright, alright. I'll go first." Jeonghan recanted his suggestion and made his way in front of the camera.
"Jeonghan, look here once and just-" He smiled, looking straight at the camera before I could finish. "Yeah, that. You know the drill."
I took a couple shots of his portrait before giving him the thumbs up. He then moved into his different poses, however he wanted to pose. Hands in his pockets, one hand gripping the edge of his zipper, turned around, smiling, serious face, laughing. Jeonghan showed it all while the other members made a chorus of cheers.
"Woah, Jeonghan hyung looks really good." Seungkwan commented, standing next to me and looking over at the monitors.
"You guys are idols." I told him, "You always look good."
"You should see us when we first wake up then." Vernon said standing next to Seungkwan.
I glanced at him, an eyebrow raised, "I have. Though some of you don't look as bad as you think you do."
Removing the camera from its stand, I give more instructions, "Jeonghan, let's have you sit on the ground and lean back on your elbows." He followed my instructions smoothly and within seconds, I'm above him snapping photos as he smiles happily up at me.
"(y/n)!" Seungkwan called out to me making me pause the picture taking, "Hyung should hold this, I think it'll be cute!" He held up a bear with a plaid scarf tied around its neck.
I took in the doll and nodded, "Bring it over, Seungkwan." Then to Jeonghan, "You can sit up and just, well, hold the bear. Better: cuddle the bear."
"Anything you say, (y/n). I trust you." Jeonghan said taking the bear from Seungkwan.
I continued snapping Jeonghan's pictures but suddenly Seungkwan started yelling and laughing.
"Yah! Stop that!" He yelled, then laughed, "It was a good idea, you heard her. It'll look so cute with Jeonghan hyung!" More laughter, "Doesn't he look cute, hyung?" More giggles from the other members, "Aish, whatever."
I couldn't help the smile that made its way onto my face and Jeonghan caught it.
"Are we that funny?" He asked quietly.
"Seungkwan's just cute when he tries to defend himself against your teasing." I explained, looking back at Somin and Jongmin for approval on the photos. They simple nodded and gave me thumbs ups.
I brought the camera back up to my eye and continued to shoot Jeonghan and his bear prop.
"Oh, sit him on your head and hold his paws." I pointed above his head.
"It's a he now?" Jeonghan questioned but followed the pose.
I shrugged, "It kind of reminds me of Seungkwan a little."
"Seungkwan!" Mingyu's voice startled me, "(y/n) said the bear reminds her of you!" He laughed and turned to glare at him.
Seungkwan placed his hands, palms up, under his chin, "It's cause I'm cute." He stated with a very cute smile.
I smiled back at him, "Of course, you're the cutest one here."
His face instantly changed into shyness and his hands moved to cover his eyes as the members cooed behind him. But underneath his hands, his smile still shined through. Taking a few more shots of Jeonghan, I decided that we had enough of him.
Walking back to the camera stand, I replaced the camera and called out, "Next member!"
"Seungkwan." Seungkwan announced as he strutted onto the set.
"Ok, shoulders squared towards me and smile." I instructed, snapping a few photos once he was smiling. Nodding at the results, I give him the thumbs up for him to pose as he pleases.
"Good, good." I encouraged Seungkwan as he crossed his arms and turned from one side to the other, showing off both his profiles. "Oh, I like it!" I exclaimed as he gave two finger hearts and winked at the camera.
"AYEE!" Many of the members exclaimed from behind me.
"That's too much!" Hoshi accused.
"Seungkwan, sexy pose, sexy pose!" Seungcheol suggested causing Seungkwan to hide behind his hands for the nth time that day.
"It should be easy." Jeonghan added, "(y/n)'s behind the camera." Seungkwan bursted out laughing and I quickly snapped a few candid photos.
"Seungkwan, let's have you sit down and take some shots from that angle." I suggested, ignoring the members' teasing. I removed the camera and moved closer to Seungkwan to get the angles that I wanted.
"You good?" I asked as Seungkwna tried to compose himself.
He quickly nodded, "You're here so it's okay."
I winked at him, "You're pictures are turning out great so I don't think we'll need many more."
"That's a relief." Seungkwan sighed happily.
And that's how the rest of the day's shoot commenced. Different members came onto set and every so often the members would tease Seungkwan for being too close to me or helping me or doing just about anything near me. Seungkwan always complained about the teasing but his tone was never serious. He never cared for the teasing because at least he could spend time hanging out with me.
