my conservative dad asked me what "woke" meant, and instead of telling him the actual meaning, i told him it didn't mean anything. not because *i* think it doesn't mean anything, i just don't want him to have more ammo to throw at me for being nonbinary, and being queer, and being sensitive, and for wanting people who aren't like me to still have rights/get human rights. and i don't want him to have another word to throw at someone else he doesn't agree with (that he didn't already pick up from somewhere).
