It’s always funny to me when in DB fics they have Piccolo be rich, and also when they explain that wealth came from King Piccolo hoarding money/gold/jewels/etc. because that is just plain and simple not a thing that would have been in-character for King Piccolo to do

Like King Piccolo was an evil slug alien wizard whose goals in life were to create as much chaos and suffering as possible (and to maintain the physical power to do so unchallenged.) They didn’t ever express much desires for physical possessions, and even if they had, they could just magic up most anything, or bully whomever into giving them anything they couldn’t magic up themself. Why would King Piccolo need money for anything? Why would King Piccolo pay for anything when they hate law and societal order itself?

Also... King Piccolo canonically used Pilaf as a sugar daddy for like half of the King Piccolo arc, so...

#pedantry.txt #devonball z #even in an au setting i think this is a silly thing to do #like it's way funnier to have king piccolo be the kind of person who breaks into Mayor Furry's house while he's on vacation #and just doesn't let him back in #also king piccolo is straight-up not a posh character at all; there are several scenes where it's established that they're gross #king piccolo belongs in the same category of nasty chaotic green slime people as murdoc niccols and gruntilda the witch #and i don't think piccolo jr is the type of character to project sugar daddy fantasies onto either #because they completely opt out of Living In A Society #like if you sat down and explained the concept of capitalism to piccolo jr they'd think it's stupid and unjust plain and simple #like piccolo jr is more-or-less the ascetic warrior archetype; you take a character like that and make them be rich and sitting on money #and you've turned them into the obnoxious pseudo-enlightened trust fund kid who blogs about how backpacking across india opened their chakra #i won't take that kind of slander about my favorite character
