fave and and least fave Taylor's Versions so far?

My favourite is definitely Fearless. I think it has the closest sound to the original (even if I can hear the differences), maintains its emotions and has my second favourite set of vault tracks so far (I particularly love we were happy, that's when, don't you and mr perfectly fine). There's not a single rerecorded track I don't love and in terms of the vault songs, I understand exactly why they were chosen and even with the two I don't listen to often, I get the appeal, it's just not for me.

My least favourite is RED and it's not even close. Like I have the original CD so outside of the vault tracks, I do not listen to RED (Taylor's Version) at all. I think at best a few of the songs sound like the original and none sound as good, only the vault tracks keep the emotion (which was the best part of RED og for me and why it's my stan album) and the new version of Girl At Home sounds like one of those fanmade remixes you'd find on youtube in 2008. The only positives I can give it is that the two music videos it got were among my favourites and that the vault tracks are my favourites so far. In saying that, I wish if she was going to rerecord the Hunger Games tracks and consider them RED tracks that she would have done them at the time and put them on the album because I listen to CDs not streaming sites when it comes to her.

I also want to acknowledge, because I know people will jump down my throat about this, that yes, I understand that given the similarities between the relationship in RED and the one that was current to her at the time, RED was especially challenging emotionally. However, especially if the theories about 1989 being pushed back were true, I really wish she had held off on RED (Taylor's Version) until she felt more up to putting that emotion in because ultimately it just sounds hollow to me.

Just as a quick aside for the other two, I think on the most part they're fine.

I think Speak Now has lost some emotion, had some ... interesting production choices with mixed outcomes (mostly negative to neutral but despite being team 'the lyric shouldn't have been changed', I think Better Than Revenge's production is better than the original) and has the most forgettable vault tracks for me personally (I think I could only confidently sing When Emma Falls In Love and maaaybe I Can See You). However, all of these vault tracks make a hell of a lot more sense upon TTPD:TA coming out because, alongside 1989's, they are extremely TTPD:TA coded so it makes sense that they were the one's on her mind. Finally, I understand she wanted to promote the album with the whole 'only self written songs' angle, but much like what I said re: the Hunger Games tracks, I hate that she took off If This Was A Movie given I'm a CD person not a streamer.

1989 is listenable but really showed to me that the 'Max magic' is missing from the rerecordings. Like I couldn't tell you exactly what that is, but I feel like every song he was apart of that got rerecorded feels like it's missing that extra something for me. Like at first I thought it was just going to be the RED tracks given the whole project felt off, but 1989 cemented that it is not and I've prepared myself for that regarding Reputation. I also have not fully fallen in love with the vault tracks like everyone else seems to have and could probably confidently sing Say Don't Go, Now That We Don't Talk and Is It Over Now (and that last one is mostly from radio play) but that's about it.

Anyway this has been a rant and a half, but TLDR: the rerecordings have been a mixed bag for me but Fearless is by far my favourite and RED is by far my least favourite.

Lavender haze X wlimon?? "I've been under scrutiny/ you handle it beautifully" that part in particular really fits to me but idk about the rest of the song, I think this song would fit them in like S3 when they're dealing with the fallout of being a public couple and suddenly Simon's thrust into the royal life and into wille's world and ends up learning a bunch of stuff he had no idea of before and learning what it's like being a royal and being with a royal and also learning more about wille and wille's life?? If that's the route S3 goes this would be the song for them

Umm I haven't seen anyone say this but midnight rain X sircus? 💀 "I broke his heart cause he was nice" ofc there's a lot of debate about whether Marcus really was nice or not bc a lot of the things he did were manipulative, whether intentionally or not, but we can all agree he's the poster boy for nice guys. "He wanted it comfortable/ I wanted that pain" how Simon's relationship w Marcus was nice and sweet and comfortable but he still yearned to be with wille even tho it was more difficult and painful and he'd have to deal with being a secret

I've already seen "you're on your kid" edits with wille specifically the part where it goes "you're on your own kid you always have been" accompanied by a bunch of shots of wille alone looking sad and those make my heart hurt lmao

Oh and both karma and vigilante shit fit wille I feel like. Vigilante shit bc he was taking revenge on August and entering his reputation era and all that "don't get sad get even" I think he took it a little far with pointing a gun at his head but I do not mind 💀 and karma would fit really well for the next season bc wille and Simon would be happy thriving and together while August would be in prison ❤️❤️❤️

I can totally see Lavender Haze as S3 Wilmon. Like, "The 1950s shit they want from me", Wille being expected to be a conventional Crown Prince like the old times(especially the heteronormative aspect)but he's here to bring change baby😌🤚 and "I'm damned if I do give a damn what people say" like he won't be giving a SHIT about people are saying about him because he's finally with the person he loves, and he's already done giving shit about unnecessary opinions, S2 showed us that.

I agree with Midnight Rain being a Simon-Marcus song.

"My town was a wasteland / Full of cages, full of fences / Pageant queens and big pretenders / But for some, it was paradise" like it screams of Simon's desire of leaving Bjästard and how much he hates the vanity he sees everyday in Hillerska.

In the end, Simon got what he wanted(being with Wille), and he can't be any happier, but the way he treated Marcus still haunts him sometimes. Like the "except when I'm on TV" line is so on point for them because after Wille admitting he was in the video, Simon would be in the limelight again and Marcus would be reminded of everything quite a lot because of that.

Also, I totally agree that it's debatable that whether Marcus was actually nice or not, but if we think from Simon's perspective, Marcus was pretty nice to him, so yeah.

I've also seen the YOYOK edits with Wilhelm, but it's a Simon song in my mind all the way. Like "I didn't choose this town, I dream of getting out" , "Something different bloomed, writing in my room/ I play my songs in the parking lot /I'll run away" IT'S SO SIMON CODED. I think Anti-Hero fits Wilhelm way more than YOYOK.
