A rare but appreciated aspect of Part 1 that I liked was that they didn't make Goemon forgive Momochi or anything as so many stories centering around abuse do, and instead they just killed him
#no “being the bigger person” here that man must die#this is another thing i like about this franchise#the idea that you don't owe your abuser forgiveness or cooperation or any of that#if someone hurt you badly enough you don't have to ever forgive them or get along with them#and i like how it made clear that abuse doesn't happen overnight (in most cases) and is instead cumulative#and how abuse is manipulative for the victim in the form of Momochi sweet-talking Goemon and lying to convince him that he's the bad guy#and how victims are often made to look like the “bad guy” and/or stupid while the abuser pretends they're the ones suffering#and how the victim's other relationships suffer due to being lied about and made out to be a villain#+ the victim developing maladaptive coping mechanisms to survive that unfortunately drive other good people away#i know this series has aged poorly but the Momochi arc was ahead of its time#lupin iii#lupin the third#lupin the 3rd#goemon ishikawa xiii#goemon
