Secrets Chapter 25: The Trade
Masterlist
Bailey's POV
I left the school and instantly drove back to Derek's loft. When I walked through the door, I noticed Derek pacing back and forth.
"Bailey," he let out a sigh of relief as he saw me walking towards him. I gasped when he wrapped me in a hug. "I thought you went after them."
He pulled out of the hug and went back to pacing. "What the hell were you thinking? I know Scott and Stiles are your best friends and I know how badly you want to get Sheriff and Melissa back, but running towards a pack of alphas is suicide. You have never used your magic to that extent. Barging into their campsite. . ."
"Derek," I sighed, cutting him off. I subconsciously started to calm him down as I continued, "I told you. I was only going to the school to talk to Stiles and Scott. I had to tell them what was going on."
I saw him visibly relax as he pulled me back into a hug. "Don't scare me like that," he said under his breath.
I pulled out of the hug and started to walk to the kitchen as I mumbled, "Doesn't mean I'm not going after them."
"Bailey," he sighed as he chased after me. "You can't."
"Why not?" I asked, quickly turning around, catching him off-guard. "You say you know how badly I want to get them back, but do you? Do you really know what they mean to me? Noah and Melissa have always been there for me. They were there when my mom died, filling the hole she left. Sheriff constantly took care of me, filling the role my father abandoned. They were like, are like parents to me. So, don't try and stop me, Derek. I am not letting anything happen to them."
He studied me for a second, not saying anything. He crossed his arms against his chest and cleared his throat. "What are you going to do?"
"I don't know," I said softly. "All I do know is that I will do whatever it takes to get Sheriff and Melissa back."
I was about to head upstairs but stopped when the front door opened.
"Good," Derek sighed as Scott and Stiles walked into his loft. "Maybe you two can talk Bailey out of her suicide mission."
"Her what?" Scott asked as Stiles ran over to me.
"Bailey," he said grabbing my hand, turning me around. "What are you doing?"
"I'm going to get your dad and Scott's mom back," I said not looking away from him.
"Bailey," he started but I cut him off.
"It's my fault they were taken, Stiles. This is my fight."
"That's where you're wrong." We turned around to see Derek and Scott walking towards us. "This isn't just your fight, Bailey," Derek said, looking at me more seriously than he has ever looked at me. "As werewolves, it is our job to protect you. That means it's our job to back you up."
"Look," I sighed.
"No," Scott said before I could continue. "We aren't letting you go by yourself. We either all go. . ."
"Or what?" I asked, cutting him off. "We wait until they come for me and kill anyone in their way? I'm not risking yours' or your parents' lives like that. The alpha pack is going to either let them go or. . . Or they get what they want."
"What they want is to kill you, Bailey," Derek said as I walked past them.
I was almost to the front door when someone grabbed my wrist. They slowly turned me around. My heart sank when I saw it was Stiles.
"Please," he said under his breath, his voice breaking. "Stop and think about this. What if. . . What if something happens? I can't lose you, Bailey."
"And I can't let you lose your dad."
I pulled my hand out of his grasp and left Derek's loft, leaving two nervous werewolves and one scared human behind.
* * * * *
It didn't take me long to find where the alpha pack was. The entire time I searched the woods, I couldn't get the look Stiles had on his face when I left out of my head.
The second I found their camp, I quickly used my magic to hide from them (something Derek had conveniently taught me after our run-in with the hunter). I took a few deep breaths to relax. I peaked around a tree and scanned the area for Noah and Melissa. I let out a sigh of relief as I saw they were tied to a tree, unharmed.
I stayed hidden as I tried to think of an escape plan. I was just about to use my magic to knock everyone out when Sheriff spoke up.
"Why are you doing this? What do we have to do with whatever is going on?"
I held my breath as the leader walked over to him, squatting down so they were eye-level. I had to cover my mouth to keep myself from yelling when the man punched Noah across the face.
I closed my eyes and had to take a few slow breaths to calm myself down.
"Can't we just kill one of them? That'll send a message." A werewolf sighed. My eyes shot open and I looked to see a guy who looked like he could be in his early twenties standing in front of Noah, baring his fangs at him.
"Stop!" The leader yelled. I could feel my heart beating faster as he looked around their camp. I held my breath as he started walking towards me.
What was he doing? I was masking my scent from them. He shouldn't be able to see or sense me. . .
"Someone is coming," the leader said as he walked by me.
"Who?" The girl asked as she walked over to him.
I held my breath as the leader smirked. "Another werewolf," he laughed. "Two actually. And a human. They must be here for them." He said as he looked over at Noah and Melissa.
My heart sank when I realized Derek, Scott, and Stiles had followed me.
"Come on out, boys." The girl werewolf teased. "We know you're out there. You might as well stop hiding."
"We promise to give you a fair fight," the other guy taunted. I looked over and could see Derek, Scott, and Stiles hiding behind some trees. By the look on his face, I could tell Derek was going to do something stupid.
"Let them go," he said as he stepped out from behind the trees.
I silently cursed him as I slowly started making my way closer.
"If it isn't the infamous, Derek Hale." The leader laughed. "What do you want with these two humans?"
"What do you want with them?" Derek challenged.
"Tell me something, Hale." The leader said, ignoring his question. "Is it true that you are, not only hiding the jinn but also training it?"
I could feel his anger and see it radiating off of him. Without thinking, I started to calm him down. I saw his shoulders tense when he felt my magic. I could tell he wanted to turn towards me but resisted.
"She's not like the jinns we were raised to know. She genuinely wants to help," Derek tried to explain, but the pack just laughed.
"She?" The other guy werewolf laughed. "She isn't anything but an it that we intend to kill."
"If you touch her," Scott threatened as he stepped next to Derek.
"Scott," Melissa gasped.
"Another werewolf," the girl smirked. "Where's that little human?" I had to stop myself from jumping out when Stiles stepped out from behind a tree a few feet away from me.
"No," I heard Noah say under his breath.
"Why are you three here? This has nothing to do with you," the leader sighed, getting annoyed.
"This has everything to do with us when you're threatening our friend," Stiles said, his anger building. My hands started to shake as they started to walk up to Stiles. As the leader stood right in front of him, Scott and Derek took a hesitant step towards them.
"Careful," the leader smirked. "We can take you before you could even scream." I saw Noah out of the corner of my eye try to get out of his restraints as the leader's claws came out.
I couldn't sit back any longer as the leader stood right in front of Stiles.
"He's not who you want," I said as I stepped out. "I am."
Everyone turned towards me. The alpha pack looked pleased while Derek, Scott, Stiles, Melissa, and Noah looked nervous.
"So, you're the jinn?" The leader taunted.
"Let them go," I said nodding towards Melissa and Noah. "Now."
The leader let out a loud laugh, making me jump. "And why would I do that?" He asked.
I took a step towards them and stopped when I saw the other two alphas take a hesitant step back. I smirked as my confidence grew.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Noah and Melissa watching me closely. Derek, Scott, and Stiles had slowly started walking towards me.
"Because your fight is with me, right? I mean, sure you can kill three humans, a guy who's been a werewolf his whole life, and a kid who was bitten barely three months ago. But, isn't the real challenge killing me?" I let magic flow around my hands as I took another step towards them, making all three alphas take one step back.
I looked at the leader and couldn't wipe the smile off my face. "I may not have been a jinn for long, but even I can recognize three scared little puppies when I see them."
I could tell my comment made the leader angry by the sudden change in his aura. "Wow," I laughed. "I didn't know it would be so easy to get under your skin. I don't think I have ever seen an aura go from orange and red to green and black so quickly."
"What do those colors mean?" The other guy asked, almost a mumble.
"Well, orange and red mean strength and courage. Green and black mean jealousy and anger," I explained.
I looked over to see Scott and Stiles sending me nervous looks while Derek smirked proudly at me. I sent the three of them a wink before turning my attention back to the alphas.
"Can I ask you guys a question?" When they didn't respond, I continued. "If all three of you are "alphas", which one is the alpha? The alpha to rule over the lower, weaker alphas?"
"We aren't weaker," the girl said, taking a step towards me.
"Well, if one of you is the leader than that means the other two are considerably weaker." I shrugged.
"You. . ." The girl started as she took a step towards me, but stopped when their leader grabbed her arm.
"Enough," he said harshly before turning his attention back to me. "Don't let her taunt you."
"I was told I can be pretty vexing," I smirked as I glanced over at Derek struggling to hold back his laughter. The other guy noticed.
"What are you laughing at, Hale?" He asked, taking a step towards Derek.
Before Derek could say anything, their leader stepped in again. "Enough!" He yelled. "We aren't here for them. We're here for her."
As he turned back to me, I smiled. "Aw, you called me "her" that time. I'm growing on you."
His eyes flashed red as he charged me. I instantly used my magic to freeze him. I pushed him away, making him hit a tree across the campsite from me. I turned just as the girl walked up to me. I gasped and instantly sunk to my knees as she hit me with a taser gun.
"How does this feel? Bitch." She smiled down at me.
As I knelt there, electricity pulsing through my body, I could see Derek fighting the other guy and Scott running towards the leader who had gained consciousness.
I looked back at the girl and smirked. With a painful gasp, I reached up and grabbed the wires of the gun. I quickly pulled the pieces that were currently sending enough bolts of electricity to kill a common man through my body, feeling instant relief as the electricity stopped. Still holding onto the wire, I pulled it, forcefully causing the gun to fly out of her hands and into mine.
I smiled as I stood up and used my magic to lift the gun, making it hover over my hand. As I closed my fist, my magic crunched the gun. I then tossed it aside as I smirked at the wide-eyed werewolf.
"That felt great. Bitch."
As I fought the girl, I noticed Stiles running over to Melissa and his dad. I wasn't sure what was happening with Scott and the alpha leader, but Derek easily took down the other alpha.
I instantly noticed how much faster than this girl I was. First, she tried to fight me in hand-to-hand combat. She soon realized her boxing skills were nothing up against my magic. I dodged her punches and then used my magic to freeze her. I tossed her against the tree hard, but not hard enough to knock her out.
"How about you stop using your magic to protect yourself," she spat at me as she stood up.
"Fine," I shrugged. "As long as you put away the claws that are in desperate need of a manicure."
With a loud yell, she charged me. I gasped as she got in a few cuts, but I easily dodged her. I used my magic to freeze her in place. This time, I wasn't soft with her. I threw her hard against a tree, her limp body falling to the ground with a thud.
"Bailey, watch out!" I heard Scott yell from behind me. As I turned around, I gasped as I felt the leader thrust a knife into my stomach with a smirk on his face.
I briefly looked over his shoulder to see everyone frozen, watching us. Stiles yelled my name but I couldn't hear it over the humming of the knife the alpha leader had pressed into me.
I turned my attention back to the leader to see him still smirking at me as he watched the color drain from my face. "You should've stayed extinct," he taunted.
I took a shaky breath before placing both of my hands on his shoulders. My magic pulsed through my veins as my eyes changed colors. I made him pull the knife out of me and drop it on the ground. I then used my magic and pushed him down until he was kneeling.
"And you should've done your homework," I said as I put my hand against his forehead. I watched as his eyes slowly closed, his unconscious body falling to the ground in front of my feet.
I slowly lowered my hand back to my sides as my eyes went back to their normal color. I looked up to see Stiles, Derek, Noah, Scott, and Melissa frozen in place, all looking at me.
Suddenly, my legs gave out.
Stiles's POV
"Bailey!" I yelled as I ran over to her. I knelt down in front of her and gently picked her up, pulling her into my chest. I reached up with shaking hands and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.
"Come on, Bailey." I started to panic as Scott, his mom, Derek, and my dad ran over to us. "Just hang in there. You're going to be okay. You have to be okay."
My breath got caught in my throat as Melissa reached for Bailey. Her eyes softened when she saw me pull Bailey closer into my chest.
"Stiles, honey," she said softly. "I can help her."
I looked up to see Scott nodding. I took a deep breath before carefully laying her down on the ground between Melissa and I. As Melissa instantly started looking her over, I could feel it getting harder and harder to breathe. My heart jumped into my throat as she slowly lifted Bailey's shirt.
"She isn't healing," Scott said under his breath as we saw the stab wound in her stomach.
"She isn't healing," I repeated. I looked back at Derek and asked, "Why isn't she healing? Shouldn't she be healing?"
Derek hesitated as he watched Melissa take off her jacket and press it to Bailey's bleeding stomach. "Jinns don't heal as fast as werewolves." He said, not taking his eyes off Bailey.
I looked back down at Bailey as Scott asked, "So, she's going to be okay?"
"She'll be fine. We should still get her to the hospital. Medication won't fully heal her, but it'll help speed up the process. Of course, she can heal on her own and should in a day or two. Unless. . ." We all looked at Derek when he didn't finish his thought.
"Unless?" I asked, my voice shaking.
"Unless the knife he stabbed her with was electronically charged. Then, she may not heal at all."
