The Perfect Match
Tumblr media
Haikyuu! ˚₊· ͟͟͞͞➳❥ Ushijima Wakatoshi ❥➳·₊˚
〃fluff, Time-skipped! 〃pairing: Ushijima Wakatoshi x fem!reader 〃wc: 849
a/n: craving for some ben & jerry's now but pls don't eat ice creams during cramps. it'll only get worse ;-;
update: okay i just realised the roster was off?? i did read the ts before, but i completely blanked on who ended up on which team 😭 i only remembered Kage and Ushi is on the same team and Bo and Hinata is on another. no wonder i feel weird when Sakusa came up on the list. update is coming soon!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ushijima is a man of privacy.
Ever since he joined the Schweiden Adlers, he has only engaged in activities or conversations related to volleyball. His personal life remains a mystery — even to his coach.
Not once has he joined a celebratory drink after a game, so his teammates have stopped asking him for a while now. They are used to how boring Ushijima is and how he is only interested in volleyball.
They even half-joked that if Ushijima ever got married, it would probably be to a volleyball. Komori had already planned what kind of wedding gift to bring for him and the lucky volleyball.
So imagine how surprised they were (besides Sakusa) when they found out that Ushijima is married.
Not dating. Married. To an actual person.
There had been no hints. No ring nor texting on his phone. Ushijima was always one hundred percent focused during every pratice, every match.
His teammates found out of his marriage only because Ushijima admitted himself in one of their interviews.
The interviewer gestured towards the crowd with a teasing smile, “You’ve got quite the fanbase today, Ushijima-san. Did you notice all the girls cheering for you?”
Ushijima didn’t even glance at the group. He just blurted out a “I’m married” with his ever calm tone as if he was just sharing what he had for breakfast that morning.
The court fell into a complete silence.
His teammates’ heads snapped to him so fast, the interviewer might have worried they'd sprain their necks if she wasn’t too busy gaping at the composed wing spiker who had just casually dropped the bomb.
From that day on, his teammates — or more specifically, Komori — made it his life mission to uncover the identity of the mysterious spouse.
He would peek over Ushijima’s shoulder after practice, trying to catch a glimpse of his phone when he was checking the time. He was dying to see what the poor lucky lady looks like.
But unfortunately for him, Ushijima’s home and lock screens are both images of a volleyball. One close-up. One mid-air.
Komori almost cried.
But just when he was about to give up, Ushijima picked up your call one day during practice, thinking it was an emergency call because you would usually just text him.
“Hey, is everything alright?” Ushijima’s voice is steady and low as usual, but there was a notable warmth in it.
From the other end of the line came your voice — loud, distressed and very much audible to everyone nearby.
“TOSHI. THIS IS CODE RED, I REPEAT, CODE RED!”
He blinked and pulled the phone back slightly, “What is a code red?”
“I just started my period and someone — and I mean YOU — ate the last tub of ice cream last night and left the EMPTY CONTAINER in the freezer!”
Kageyama turned slowly towards Ushijima with a volleyball in his hands, while Komori abandoned stretching session all together and was now openly eavesdropping from the side.
Ushijima replied clamly, “I thought we were sharing it.”
“We WERE until you annihilated it. Do you know what’s left? Frozen peas. I’m sitting here with a heating pad, craving ice cream, and all I have is peas. I’m in actual pain, emotionally and physically. I was lied to by a container and betrayed by the love of my life.”
“I’ll stop by the store after practice.”
“I want Ben & Jerry’s Chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate fudge brownie.”
“Got it.”
“Say it back to me.”
“……Chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate fudge brownie.”
“Ben & Jerry’s.”
“Ben & Jerry’s.”
“I feel slightly better already. Stay safe at practice and come home soon with my ice creams, love you!” you hung up the phone.
Komori stared with his jaw dropped while Ushijima, who was probably already planning in his head which route would get him to the grocery store fastest, put away his phone, “Is she always like that?”
Ushijima adjusted his kneepads. “Only when she’s upset. Or excited,” he paused. “Or awake.”
An uncharacteristically invested Kageyama turned to Komori, “That’s a yes.”
Sakusa, who had been stretching nearby, didn’t even look up. “You married your emotional foil. I respect that.”
Komori was still buffering, “So that’s your type? Loud, dramatic, and emotionally attached to dairy?”
“She’s expressive,” Ushijima said simply. “And straightforward.”
“Yeah, with volume,” Komori sighed. “But I guess…that makes you both the perfect match? Since you’re so quiet, stone-faced and emotionally constipated.”
Ushijima blinked slowly.
“I mean that lovingly,” Komori added quickly.
“I don’t mind her being loud,” with the faintest curve tugging at the corner of his lips, Ushijima hold Komori’s gaze, and for a split second, Komori could have sworn Ushijima’s eyes softened, “She fills the space.”
There was a beat before Komori chuckled, “You’re whipped, aren’t you?”
Instead of replying, Ushijima simply walked off to refill his water bottle. Not that Komori expected a reply.
He didn’t need one.
Because everyone in the court who had witnessed the call, and the unmistakable tenderness in Ushijima’s eyes already knew you had him wrapped right around your finger.

Theres a lot of boyfriends out there, which one are they ?
Tumblr media
Multi Chara, Haikyuu, Fluff
Best Ever !! Honestly, your friends are tired of hearing about how great he is. When you asked for his phone password out of curiosity, he just have you a strange look. "I dont have a password ?" Every time you split a snack, you got the larger piece. While walking down the streets, hed interlock your fingers and make sure you weren't close to the road. He'd always place his hand over the edges of counters to block your head from hitting it, and he always saved hot water for you.
You met his family early on, and they adore you ! Hes open and accepting about whatever family situation you have, and is comfortable waiting or being unable to meet your family. Your safety and happiness are his top priority when hes with you, and hed do anything to make you feel better.
- Sugawara, Ukai, Ennoshita, Akaashi, Kita, Sachiro, Aran, Yasufumi, Daichi, Iwaizumi, Osamu
Cuteeee !! Hes great, just a little shy and sometimes awkward. Hes on the path to become the best boyfriend, hes just new to all of this. His hands get sweaty easily while holding hands, but he never wants to let go. Under thick blankets during winter, or with a blasting AC in summers wrathful heat, he finds solitude in clinging to you.
Small gifts and pressed flowers, homemade snacks that started out tragic and slowly got more edible. Winking at you during volleyball, "This is for you !" right before his failed serve hit the net. Looks at you like a lost puppy, always following you around.
- Hinata, Inuoka, Takeda, Atsumu, Komori, Bokuto, Lev Haiba, Tadashi, Goshiki, Asahi, Hisashi, Kuroo, Hanamaki, Kindaichi, Konoha
Quite, for sure.. It can be a bit hard to communicate with him, its just too hard to tell what hes thinking ! Unless you directly ask, he'll bottle everything up. Hes not terrible, of course ! You know hes not the type to date someone he doesn't like, he just has trouble showing it. But in his small ways, he does.
Sticky note doodles and letters, getting embarrassed after accidentally ranting about volleyball or any other interest, giving you the first and last bite of everything, driving you or walking with you everywhere. If youve been dating for a while, he often prefers to show his affection through soft, quiet, touches. Petting your hair, tracing your hips, scratching your back, he needs his hands on you.
- Kenma, Kageyama, Ushijima, Sakusa, Suna, Nobuyuki, Aone
Kinda meaaaaan ! Like.. yea.. you guessss you love him (jkkk!!?), so why does he need to tease you so much ! If you're shorter, hes always using you as an armrest or bumping into you on purpose because he 'couldnt see you.' You make one mistake, and suddenly you're a "dumbass" or a "silly idiot." Rarely does he ever actually insult you, but its been an ongoing mission of yours to get his hardass to be a little romantic for once.
And of course, he has his sweet moments, but come the next day. "You look like shit." Whether you bicker back, turning it into a play fight, him never letting you win, enjoying the way he had you pinned down. Or, you could smile at him, you had his shirt on and his favorite pair of shorts, hair freshly conditioned and makeup still light and unsmeared. You knew, as much as he loved to be a bully, all it took was a soft smile for him to melt.
- Tsukishima, Yaku, Mad Dog, Kunimi, Hoshiumi
Um.. hes a little weird !! It probably took a minute for you to introduce him to your friends and family. You never knew what he was about to do or say, he always did something different or odd. Whether it be borderline scary or straight up stupid, it was one of the things you loved about him. All things considered, he was absolutely hilarious.
He eventually became like a son and friend to those close to you. Not a lot of people understood him, and as unserious as he is, he genuinely is thankful you not only stayed with him, but gave him friends and family too.
- Shohei, Tendou, Nishinoya, Tanaka, Oikawa

a/n; this is so silly and super long but made me laugh haha i hope you enjoy too
a momager and her silly olympic team.
big, strong olympic babies. fluff. fem!reader. | not proofread.
more olympic team shenanigans here!
more reads!
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
It was supposed to be a simple procedure.
Just a quick blood draw—routine anti-doping protocol for the Olympic committee.
Simple, clean, quick.
In, out, done.
But you should’ve known better.
Because you were managing Team Japan, which meant logic and peace left the chat the second you walked into the small medical room with the group of oversized children and two very tired authority figures.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
“Can’t we just pee in a cup or somethin’?!” Atsumu whined, clutching his arm like it had already been severed. “Why does it gotta be blood?”
The nurse blinked at him, void of any emotion, and calmly replied, "You'll pee in the cup after your blood is drawn."
"WAIT—we gotta do BOTH?!"
"Well shit... I don't even have any pee left in me."
"Should I chug some water now?"
You glanced sheepishly over your clipboard as the nurse rolled her eyes for the fifth time.
“Iwaizumi," she sighed. “You said they were professionals.”
Iwaizumi, standing beside you with his arms crossed and murder in his eyes, growled lowly. "How about everyone sit the fuck down—they are. They’re just being idiots.”
“IT’S A NEEDLE, IWA.” Bokuto wailed from his seat, gripping the armrest like it might save him. “LIKE A PIERCING METAL STABBER. RIGHT INTO MY VEINS!”
“It’s like ten inches long,” Hinata whispered in horror, eyeing the straight needle like it might leap into his skin. “Why is it so long? Does it even need to be that long?!”
“I feel faint,” Atsumu muttered, already lying dramatically across two chairs. “If I die, tell ma I love her. Not 'Samu though.”
Suna eyed Atsumu with a slow grin before pulling his phone out. "Say hi to Osamu. I'm gonna show him what a wimp you are—"
"NO—THE FUCK YOU AREN'T—"
Aran slapped the back of Atsumu's head before he got a chance to lunge at Suna. "How about both of you cut it out before I call your guys' worst nightmare."
"Who?"
"Kita."
"Oh."
"ARAN—I thought you were my friend—"
"Mm, no. Not when you're acting like that."
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
“ALRIGHT, who’s up first?”
The nurse's voice cut through the chaos in the room, loud but monotone, like she was already done with Team Japan not even two minutes in.
As she prepped a set of vials and associated straight needles, Sakusa stood immediately, calm as ever. “I’ll go.”
“SEE?” Iwaizumi barked from behind you. “Like a normal adult. Thank you, Sakusa.”
Hinata whispered something in awe.
“He takes the flu vaccine every year,” Komori whispered back like it was a bedtime story.
Sakusa made a face at Komori under his mask, eyes squinting. "Did you all not take your flu vaccine?"
“I did,” Ushijima raised his hands, a twitch of a smile gracing his lips.
“I was busy,” Atsumu offered.
“Busy doing what?” Sakusa snapped. “Scrolling through food TikTok?!”
"I mean... I was doing that," Suna shrugged.
You placed a gentle hand on Sakusa’s arm, trying to soothe him. “Hey, it’s okay—”
“No, it’s not okay,” Sakusa said darkly. “I’m surrounded by disease-ridden volleyball toddlers.”
He let out a sigh of disappointment before he sat down, pushed up his sleeve, and barely blinked as the needle slid into his arm.
“I don’t like watching this,” Atsumu muttered.
“Then don’t watch it,” you replied, not even turning around as you helped the nurse line up the next tubes. “You’re all professional athletes. You face blocks going 100 kilometers an hour. A needle should not be this scary.”
“That’s different,” Kageyama mumbled.
“How?” you deadpanned.
“Blocks don’t stab you.”
You snorted and glanced over your shoulder just in time to see Hinata clutching Komori’s arm like he was about to face a death sentence.
“You’re not even next, Hinata,” Komori whispered, patting his head.
“Yet!”
“Alright, all done,” the nurse smiled at Sakusa.
He stood up, rolled down his sleeve, and dusted off his hands like he’d just finished a perfectly timed serve.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
“Who's next?”
Suna stepped forward next, hands tucked in his jacket pockets.
You raised a brow. “Didn’t expect you to be so brave.”
“I have a tattoo,” he said dryly. “Needles and I have an understanding.”
That earned a round of complaints.
“Wait, Suna goes next?!” Atsumu pointed at him, offended. “Just ‘cause he has a tattoo doesn’t mean he’s not scared!”
Suna lifted his shirt slightly to flash a bit of ink on his ribcage. “Wanna see if I flinch?”
You and the nurse both rolled your eyes.
"Put your shirt down. You're gonna cause a PR scandal again, Suna," Aran said, pinching the bridge of his nose.
“You’re such a show-off,” you murmured, but there was a smile tugging at your lips.
While Suna got his blood drawn (and, true to his word, didn’t flinch at all), Bokuto started pacing like he was about to give a TED Talk titled How I Conquered Fear (Just Kidding).
“I’ve never fainted,” Bokuto said, puffing out his chest. “But like, what if today is the day? What if my blood just—whoosh—rushes out too fast?”
“Bo,” you sighed, “that’s…not how blood draws work.”
“But what if it is?” he wailed.
“It’s not!” Iwaizumi groaned.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
Coach, who had entered five minutes ago and said absolutely nothing, was now quietly combusting in the corner.
Aran leaned in to whisper in your ear. "Coach is this close to losing it, isn't he?"
"Think he's already lost it," you laughed. "You all better be prepared for the special punishment drill tomorrow."
Everyone went dead silent.
"Wait... what drill?"
"I kind of like that drill," Ushijima murmured, nodding his head. "Helps me stretch my back."
"The hell are you talking about—"
"It's a back drill?!"
"IWA—tell us—"
"You'll see tomorrow."
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
“KOMORI,” the nurse called, cutting the stress in the air.
Komori tensed so hard you thought he might vibrate through the wall.
“I need someone to hold my hand,” he whispered. “Like I really really really do!”
You exchanged a glance with Iwaizumi, who looked about two seconds from purposely walking into traffic. Then, resigned, you stepped up and reached out.
Komori grabbed your hand like it was the only thing keeping him tethered to this world.
“I’m sweating,” he whimpered. “I’m so sweaty.”
“It’s okay,” you soothed, holding in your laughter. “You’re fine.”
Kageyama stared at the exchange like he was memorizing every second of it.
Atsumu leaned over to whisper, “Bet Tobio's plannin' to fake a heart attack next, so he can skip."
“I can hear you,” Kageyama hissed.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
When it was finally Bokuto’s turn, he saluted you like a fallen soldier. “Tell Akaashi… I did my best.”
“You’re not dying, Bokuto.”
He nodded solemnly. “Yet.”
As the blood draw began, he yelped once—then looked shocked.
“…That’s it?”
“Yeah,” you said. “You made it.”
“OH SHIT—I’M A SURVIVOR,” he shouted.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
Hinata was next, and to his credit, he tried to play it cool.
“I’m ready,” he said, chest puffed out.
You raised a brow. “Need a hand?”
“…Yes.”
You held it.
He didn’t cry, but his lips did wobble. And he squeezed so hard you were sure you lost circulation.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
When it was Atsumu’s turn, he slumped into the chair like a man defeated.
“I just think,” he started dramatically, “that if I pass out and ya don’t pamper me, it’s gonna hurt more emotionally than physically.”
“You’re not gonna pass out,” you said.
He stared at the needle. “…I might.”
“You won’t.”
“I could.”
“You won’t, 'Tsumu.”
He pouted. “But will I get pampering just in case?”
“No,” Iwaizumi snapped. “You’ll get an ice pack and your dignity, if you’re lucky.”
He definitely flinched when the needle went in. You absolutely teased him about it.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
A hushed awe fell over the room as Ushijima quietly stepped up for his turn.
No panic. No whining. No flailing. Just… silence.
Even the nurse blinked at him.
“…Wow,” she muttered. “This one might actually be normal.”
Ushijima sat with perfect posture, expression blank as ever, arm outstretched.
“I don't understand the fear of needles,” he said calmly, watching the nurse swab his skin. “They are quite small. Less painful than a hard block.”
You leaned over to brush a strand of hair that had flopped over his forehead.
"I'm proud of you," you murmured, soft and sincere.
"OH—he gets a I'm proud of you and I DON'T?!"
"SHUT UP, MIYA!"
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
You nudged Aran. "Your turn, superstar."
“Alright, alright,” he said, rolling his sleeves up and taking a deep breath. “Let’s get this over with. I got this. I’m cool.”
You raised an eyebrow. “You sure?”
Aran smirked. “I’m not like those guys. Needles? Pssh.”
One minute later…
“I’M SORRY, BUT I MIGHT DIE.”
Aran was gripping your hand like it was his lifeline, leaning back in the chair as the nurse tried to steady his arm.
“Just breathe,” you coaxed, trying not to laugh. “You said you were cool.”
“I was cool until that pointy thing of evil came out of nowhere!” he hissed.
“It’s a tiny straight needle,” the nurse deadpanned.
“I don’t care if it’s gold-plated! That pointy stabber's evil!”
Suna chuckled from his chair, legs crossed, blood already drawn, bandage stylishly in place. “Tough guy act didn’t last long, huh, Aran?”
“You hush,” Aran snapped.
Suna leaned back with a smug grin. “Still not scared of needles."
“Wanna say that again in front of Kita when we're back in Hyogo, Mister-I-have-a-tattoo-and-I'm-so-great?”
Suna opened his mouth—probably to say something horrifyingly smug—only to be cut off by Iwaizumi’s death glare.
“ENOUGH. If one more of you calls it the pointy stabber, I’m dragging you outside for suicide sprints right now.
Everyone immediately shut up.
Except Atsumu, who whispered to Bokuto, “Do ya think if I faint, I’ll get more sympathy points?”
“You’ll get buried,” Iwaizumi snapped, without turning around.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
Last up was Kageyama.
“Do I get something if I don’t flinch?” he asked suddenly, looking at you.
You blinked. “…Like what?”
“I dunno. A frozen yogurt treat?”
“…Fine. No flinch, no fuss, and I’ll make the fancy honey and blueberry one later.”
He turned to the nurse, expression dead serious. “I’m ready.”
He didn’t flinch. You were kind of proud.
Then he turned to Atsumu and whispered, “Enjoy your dignity. I’m getting yogurt.”
“SHUT UP,” Atsumu barked.
જ⁀🏐⁀🏐
When the chaos finally ended, you stepped out into the hallway with Iwaizumi and Coach.
Iwaizumi looked like he’d aged ten years.
Coach ran a hand down his face. “They spike balls for a living.”
“I know,” Iwaizumi said through gritted teeth.
You, somehow still chipper, smiled. “They’re just scared of the little things.”
Coach looked at you. “What aren’t they scared of?”
You didn't have an answer.
Then the nurse strolled past, hands clutching the biohazard bags ready to be sent to the testing center, and murmured, “God help Japan.”

Greatest in the League
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n — i def put my own spin on this so i’m so sorry if it’s not exactly what you imagined😭🫶🏼 also made reader gn since a gender wasn’t specified . ALSO YES I MADE USHIJIMA OBLIVIOUS HE LITERALLY THOUGHT HINATA WAS GRIPPING ONTO BRAZIL BC HE WAS ON THE “OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD”
content — ushijima x gn! reader, ushijima and reader are married , fluff, set in time skip (at the olympics actually), secret relationship, honestly not much to talk abt, i think that’s it- lmk if i missed anything!
synopsis — Ushijima Wakatoshi, wing spiker and outside hitter for the Olympic men’s volleyball team, has a secret. Something only two people in the entire world know of, including him.
✿.。.“ where’s the trophy? ”.。.✿
one point.
one point was all that separated Japans men’s volleyball team from the champion title. a singular point that rested on Japans side of the net. Ushijima watched as the other team served
one. komori’s perfect receive- no one expected any less
two. atsumu’s terrifyingly beautiful set, every spiker they had running for the ball.
three. straight to ushijima wakatoshi.
the ball smacked against his palm, and boom. The other team had no time to even react as the wing spiker all but slammed the ball onto the other side of the court.
23-25
“AND JAPAN TAKES IT ALL!!” the announcers could be heard from the booth they were seated in. While the other team had shuffled off the court, the japan’s team was celebrating- many arms thrown around Ushijima, but he couldn’t find it in himself to care.
where were you?
The paparazzi had flooded the court, taking pictures of all the players while the giant trophy of the world’s best team was brought out, and yet ushijima needed to see you first.
“good job wakatoshi!” the males ears caught the three words, turning around as he heard your voice- spotting you standing at the railing that separated the many onlookers from the court.
“hey ushiwaka we need to take a pic with the trophy- hey where are you going?” he heard hoshiumi’s voice loud and clear, but his focus was on a familiar face in the crowd—yours. Without a second thought, he pushed through the throng of reporters and fans, his powerful strides carrying him swiftly toward you.
if there was one thing you hadn’t expected from ushijima after all the years of being together, it was this. you watched in awe as he came running over, the determined look on his face softening the moment he reached you. He didn’t say a word, simply enveloping you in a tight hug, causing many eyes and cameras to be turned towards the both of you.
After getting married two years ago the two of you had decided to keep your life out of the public eye, i mean- ushijima wouldn’t want his beautiful partner to get bombarded with all the questions that were sure to come their way, but as of right now he couldn’t care less.
ushijima wakatoshi was not a man of words, much rather showing his feelings through actions, so that he did. the star player leaned down before pressing a kiss to your lips, the camera flashes going off in the split second the two of your lips were connected.
“what’s with the photos?” he asked you as his hands rested on your waist.
ushijima wakatoshi was not a man of words, so when he had a post game interview with many bombarding questions about the person he had kissed, he’d decided actions would speak louder than words.
let’s just say, twitter and all news articles were buzzing about the outside hitters showing his left ring finger being adorned with a silver wedding band during the interviews.
✿.。.“ he just comes running over to me ”.。.✿
it’s super short and i actually hate it. i’m so sorry it took this long😭
likes, comments, and reblogs are appreciated!!

Unconventional
[Sakusa Kiyoomi x Artist! Fem! Reader]
Sakusa chuckled, "You got a very unconventional way to propose a friendship"
Sakusa always notice your presence whenever you're nearby.
You're always on your phone among the cheering crowd in Itachiyama's tournaments. Sakusa is always wondering if you're actually recording his matches or something.
He also wondered why he wishes you would cheer for him rather than doing whatever you do with your phone.
"I don't even know her name...", Sakusa muttered under his breath after he put on his mask again as he walked out of the gymnasium with his teammates.
"Whose name?", Komori asked, startling Sakusa a little as he didn't realized he was thinking out loud.
Sakusa stared at his cousin for a second, considering if he should ask him or not.
"The funny looking girl who's always on her phone on our matches", Sakusa's curiosity wins him over this time.
"Oh, her? I believe her name is [Last Name] [First Name]", Komori answered his question.
Sakusa hummed as a response, trying to make it seems like he's done being interested. Deep down, he knows he's far from being done looking for anything about you.
~~~
Apparently, you're a relatively new transfer student in Itachiyama. Your class is next to his, so Sakusa sometimes see you at the hallway.
Whenever you make eye contact with him, you always smile at him but says nothing.
Sakusa noticed how your eyes would lighten a bit whenever you noticed his presence. He also noticed you always bring a book wherever you go. For three months, no words are exchanged between the two of you, despite how badly Sakusa wants to.
"Sakusa! Someone is looking for you", Iizuna shouted from the door of the school gym.
Sakusa saw you panicked and said something to his team captain before you practically running away from the gym.
"What happened?", The curly haired boy was saddened as he thought he finally got a chance to talk to you.
"Here, she said it's for you", Iizuna handed him the book you're always carrying everywhere. He can read the book title right away, [First Name]'s Sketchbook.
Sakusa decide to open the sketchbook when he's finally alone in his bedroom.
The book is full of your headshot and bust up drawing of him, from rough sketches to fully rendered ones. Sakusa noticed your artstyle varies based on the media you used, although he can't name them one by one as he's not an artsy type himself. However, there's something remarkable about your artstyle that anyone will recognize.
~~~
The next day, Sakusa wasted no time to go to your class first thing in the morning.
You were already sitting at your desk by the time he arrived. Mixed feelings swirling inside you as the curly dark haired boy approached you.
"Why do you give this sketchbook to me?"
You smiled at his question, "Consider it as something I offer in exchange of a friendship I want with you"
Sakusa chuckled, "You got a very unconventional way to propose a friendship"
You sheepishly answered, "I'm not very good at expressing my feelings in words"
"Same, but I'm not skilled at anything else than volleyball. I'll just buy you another sketchbook in return, sounds good?"
You giggled, "Is gift giving your love language?"
Although he's wearing his mask, you can sense a smirk across Sakusa's face, "Isn't it yours too?"
Your giggles subsided, "Yeah, you're right"
The two of you know these remarks a new friendship bond that's going to differ from the usual.

Being Team Japan’s Manager:
Miss Manager is Great with Kids
Tumblr media
Team Japan x Female Manager (she/her)
Warnings: swearing, obviously kids (sometimes they are scary 🫣)
Request here
AN: I apologize if this isn’t the best 😅
You know what’s really funny YN?
The similarities between being Team Japan’s manager and working in a preschool
Honestly it’s pretty much the same thing
Iwa drops the kids off for their morning practice
Yaku yells at them, scolding them for not playing nicely with the other team members
You have to remind them to eat and take bathroom breaks
Essentially, the same 💅
Which is why your transition from teaching to being team Japan’s manager was so easy
The guys 👉🏻 instantly love you
Was there really any doubt?
Of course, some of them *cough* ATSUMU *cough* HOSHIUMI *cough* make it their life goals to be hard on you
You can’t tell me they aren’t annoying and finicky about literally everything 🙄
But once again, it’s fine because you’ve dealt with snotty, marker covered kids pretty much your entire life
Literally these guys have nothing on a group of 3 year olds
The guys never really asked much about your previous job, not really caring much about where you came from before you started with them
Aran would occasionally bring up the subject but you’d just shrug, answering, “a little of this, a little of that.”
Let’s be honest, there’s no conversation that doesn’t involve volleyball lasting for more than 5 seconds in the Gym
Especially with Atsumu, Kageyama, Hinata and Bokuto
Guys really think that other occupations don’t even compare to Volleyball so why waste the time talking about it
However 👀 the boys would soon find out just how much they should have asked about your prior employment
Because you see, Kuroo had a little something up his sleeve to help promote Team Japan
“Come again?” Asked Gao
“A kids camp! Ages 4 to 9!” Kuroo excitedly explained
“Count me out,” Sakusa groaned
“You really think it’s a good idea for little kids to be running around while we practice?” Kageyama questioned
“Well you would t be practicing, it would strictly be for the kids,” Kuroo responded
“NO PRACTICE!” Screamed Atsumu, Kageyama, Hinata and Bokuto in unison
Iwa narrowed his eyes as you tried to keep a straight face, “listen here, if you don’t participate, I’ll have coach bench you and give your number up!”
The group immediately straightened up as Kuroo smirked
“Maybe it won’t be so bad? I mean it’s only for a couple hours right?” Komori responded
The guys all nodded as you tried your best to keep your composure
A week later, the camp was underway and let’s just say, it was going about as well as Seijoh’s chances of going to nationals 🫠
“Oh my go- gosh!” Atsumu shouted, stopping himself again from nearly letting out a bad word in front of the children
“These kids are actually feral!” Hoshiumi screamed, trying to wrangle two kids who were throwing volleyballs up into the bleachers
“I thought these kids were suppose to like volleyball!?!” Aran asked
“I never said that,” Kuroo chimed in, as he and Akaashi watched form the sidelines
Akaashi was there to do a special report on the teams event as well as take in the free entertainment
Bokuto and Hinata were rolling around on the floor, attempting (huge emphasis on ATTEMPT) to show the kids receiving
Sakusa was sitting with a group of kids who were “too cool” for this
Ushiwaka had already made 3 kids cry just by walking up to them
Iwa had left to cool down because he was at his breaking point
And you, well you had seen enough
Suddenly, Kuroo watched as you grab the microphone and headed to the middle of the gym
“Hey kids, who wants to see a professional athlete serve?” You shouted as all the kids (yes I’m including the athletes) looked over at you
Suddenly, screams and shouts filled the air as all the kids flocked towards you
The guys, Kuroo and Akaashi, included all watched in wonder
“Ok we all need to sit in the chairs because this guys serves can be either really good or really bad. Atsumu, show them!”
Atsumu rn 👉🏻👁️👄👁️ HEY MY SERVES ARENT BAD!
“I’d say it’s 50/50,” Sakusa chimed in as Atsumu growled
“Hey how come I don’t get to show them my serves Yn?” Kageyama grumbles
“Tobio you’ll get a chance just calm down and wait your turn ok?”
After the show of serves, you again grabbed the kids attention
“Ok so who wants to try spiking??” You ask as a million tiny hands shoot up
“Ok everyone get in line, littlest to oldest, and we will all get a chance to practice!”
You made your way to the nets, team and children following you like little ducks as you began to coordinate
Iwa watched in awe as your skills, impressed at your ability to manage such a wide age range
I mean 💅 this is Yn Iwa, what did you expect?
After the event, the kids all came up to you after getting their autographs and gave you a big hug
“Thanks so much Miss Yn!” They all smiled as they ran to their parents
“YN why didn’t you tell us you were good with kids?” Yaku asked
You just shrugged, “it never came up.”
“I mean it makes sense, look how good she is with the other idiots,” Iwa said, nodding over to the feral group
“OMG YN THAT WAS SO FUN! Can we do that again??” Bokuto screamed, jumping up and down
“We deal with enough children daily so no,” Sakusa said, turning to leave going to the locker room
“What kids- HEY WHAT THE HELL OMI??” Atsumu yelled
You just smiled, knowing your boys were the best kids around 😌

Hii I love ur blog and I was wondering if you could do hc's of salusa kiyoomi, komori motoya, atsumu miya, and hoshiumis type of s/o? Thanksss❤️‼️
Hello little cake! Of course I can! I hope it is to your liking ❤️
Kiyoomi Sakusa
Tumblr media
I am 95% sure Kiyoomi would have a s/o who is more on the quiet side yet still confident
Since he is dealing with loud teammates on a daily basis timeskip, he prefers it if it’s more quiet
Obviously his s/o can have their silly moments but they should know their boundaries
Kiyoomi would definitely look for a s/o who can take care of themselves, physically and mentally
His s/o would also have to bring great patience and understanding into the beginning of the relationship
It takes some time for the Outside Hitter to warm up to someone
But once his s/o has broken down his walls and melted off the ice-cold facade, Kiyoomi is the most attentive boyfriend
He cleans, he has impeccable hygiene and incredibly smart
He 1000% has a routine for how to do things at his home or how he spends his day, his s/o has to accept his busy schedule and adjust to it
THE BEST LISTENER!
Kiyoomi may not be the best advice giver but if you need to vent, man‘s gonna listen without interruption
Invites you to all his games and you need to wear his jersey
I headcannon Kiyoomi is a very jealous person fight me
Please no nicknames for him (his partner would get the famous scowl)
I can see Kiyoomi dating someone who does not have a lot of contact with other people in their work life, so probably IT or a writer for example
Tolerates medical field workers😂
Motoya Komori
Tumblr media
Motoya is on the tier list of golden retriever boyfriends
He’s so understanding, so cute and very romantic
I think it doesn’t really matter to Motoya what his s/o looks like or if his s/o is more quiet or more loud
Motoya grew up with Mr. anxiety himself, so he knows exactly what to do if you have panic attacks or suffer under panic disorders
But with every professional athlete, Motoya needs someone who understands his busy schedule and shouldn’t get mad about him going away for quite a while on away games or longer training days
Trust is everything to Motoya!
His s/o shouldn’t be a sarcastic person, Motoya would get annoyed by it eventually
Lowkey needs Sakusa‘s approval
Motoya has a high social battery, so his s/o should be able to handle lots of meet ups and social outings
His partner should be able to get along with his family, especially Sakusa since he is very close with him
Communication is also very important to Motoya, his s/o NEEDS to tell him if something is bothering them
Atsumu Miya
Tumblr media
Cheeky asshole (my bae)
I can see Atsumu going for either a confident person like himself or someone submissive
Either would work but it would be more compatible if his s/o would be more submissive (even in the bedroom)
His s/o would also have to be tolerant of his direct behavior and shouldn’t take everything he says directly to heart (Atsumu can be mean at times and if he’s mad or moody, his s/o shouldn’t be too sensitive about it)
Atsumu needs a s/o who is smaller than him, he is a big teaser and loves to be teased back
S/o shouldn’t be afraid of physical affection, Atsumu is BIG on pda (kissing in public, occasional butt squeezes)
His partner shouldn’t be too clingy, Atsumu is very dedicated to his sport!
If Atsumu loses a game, his partner should be respectful about him wanting alone time or comfort
His partner can be athletic or in not so top shape, yet he would probably prefer one that can somewhat keep up with his stamina and go on runs with him or even train with him
His s/o HAS to get along with his twin brother, if they don’t like each other, it’s an absolute NO-GO for Atsumu (he may never admit it out loud but Osamu is Atsumu‘s whole world besides volleyball)
Kōrai Hoshiumi
Tumblr media
Seagull boi
Would need a s/o who doesn’t mind his loud mouth
His s/o should be his number one fan and be quite feisty and a proud character
His partner should definitely be around his height or taller than him
Kōrai is a very competitive person, he would love to have a partner he can have bets with or fight against (like gaming, playing sports etc)
Kōrai doesn’t care what body shape his partner has, he will love them regardless
The bigger nerd his partner is, the better
Would have to be a big fan of animals, since his best friend is a vet and Kōrai occasionally has pets staying with him
Probably will adopt like 2 dogs with his s/o

PASSION - ATSUMU MIYA X READER
INTRODUCTIONS: rent makki owes us
MASTERLIST !!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
extras:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
LORE:
- 📍OSAKA - yn studies sports management and is one year in - yukie studies nutritional science and is currently doing her masters - komori is already a pro volleyball player at EJP raijin - hanamaki is "between jobs" (unemployed, college drop-out) - yn also works at a rug shop and is in a long-distance relationship with kenji futakuchi who she met online, and they've been together for roughly 1.5 years
- she moved from hyogo to osaka a few months before she graduated from highschool - she's started studying pretty late because she worked a billion jobs (after highschool graduations) to save money so she can move out of her fathers house - she doesn't talk about her family a lot or why she moved away in the middle of the schoolyear - met hanamaki at the job center 4 times and decided to become friends since "it must be fate" - hanamaki befriended yukie during a shared class and they saw the ad komori had posted for the apartment - so they moved in - which then also lead to hanamaki offering yn to move in
- yn doesn't really like/love what she studies but because she was exposed to a lot of volleyball and enjoyed watching it in highschool through some former friends she figured she could just go roughly in that direction - komori doesn't like it when songs get blasted and obsessively looped over and over again for days on end because he tends to get sick of songs pretty fast - yukie has been going to the gym rather consistently lately - hanamaki does who-knows-what in his freetime and used to scam people for money for a while because he was too embarrassed to go to the job center again after he was fired from his last job one week in (no one except makki knows why)

suna and osamu break up after graduation. they go their separate ways. suna meets komori. they become best friends. komori introduces suna to his cousin. his cousin is sakusa kiyoomi. sakusa kiyoomi is dating miya atsumu. komori and suna find themselves in a friends-with-benefits situation, except there's too many feelings for it to be just friends with benefits. they realize this and start dating. the Olympics happen. suna sees osamu again and realizes he was never truly over him. komori realizes this and accepts it. he knew suna was never really his. kiyoomi HATES suna for this. for hurting his cousin, his best friend. suna and komori break up. suna doesn't start dating osamu until 6 months later because a part of him loved komori and hates that he hurt him. but suna and osamu do start dating. komori's not heartbroken over this new development. he figures it was a long time coming. but he is, and will always be, a petty bitch. so he releases a song. people are shocked because why is a volleyball player releasing songs??? and also is this about who we think it's about?? the song's called taste. and suna is shocked he would release something like this. he thought we were long past all this. kiyoomi is surprised at komori's boldness. atsumu is angry. osamu thinks the whole thing is hilarious. the song is good, why is atsumu so upset about it, why are suna and kiyoomi so shocked?? osamu convinces everyone that it's really not a big deal and he and komori come to an understanding. everything's fine, everybody's fine. so komori gets suna and osamu to agree to make a music video with him. and they do. and people lose their goddamn minds. and I love them so much hehe.
I heard this song and an osasunakomo love triangle was all I could think of. also if you haven't seen the MV go watch it!!

hi! How would you characterize Sakusa? And do you have any fic recommendations where you think he’s very in character?
I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE !! PLEASE, BUCKLE UP 💺 BECAUSE I’M GOING TO YAP (in 12 paragraphs or more, I think)
PLEASE DO NOTE THAT THIS IS JUST FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES, I’m not mad or trying to be all wise and condescending with how people interpret his character, huhu. People can interpret characters to their own judgement, and these are just my thoughts <33
I just realized nonnie just asked how I (ME) would characterize Sakusa and NOT a Sakusa analysis, uhm. Let me just take a hiatus rq—I’M EMBARRASSED
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let’s start with the beginning (and no, this doesn’t have a chronological order; I just yap and yap) !!
Sakusa is one of the most misunderstood characters in Haikyuu, mostly because people tend to reduce him to a simple “germaphobe” and a “mean, blunt jerk.” But that’s honestly such a bit of a shallow take on a character who’s way more nuanced than that !!
Let me explain 🤓☝️
NOTE. WORDS MAY REPEAT AND LIKE, I JUST YAP SO IT GOES IN CIRCLES 💥 if it doesn’t make any sense, it’s bcs it’s just yap and no brain cells applied 🙀
Tumblr media
^ Canonically, we know that Sakusa was a quiet child, not very social. He didn’t make friends easily, and with a family that was often too busy for him, he was mostly on his own. It was Komori, his cousin, who introduced him to volleyball, and even then Sakusa didn’t immediately love it.
He just needed something to do.
But slowly, he found something meaningful in it—a sense of control, perhaps, or a challenge that suited his methodical nature. He started practicing alone, pushing himself, and that’s such a key part of who he is. Sakusa doesn’t rely on external motivation—he’s self-driven. That’s rare.
He’s also very independent.
Tumblr media
What really gets me about Sakusa is how high his standards are—for himself, most of all. After losing to Ushijima, he didn’t sulk or lash out. He drilled his receiving technique until it was no longer a weakness.
He sets goals with ridiculous precision and won’t stop until he’s met them. That kind of relentless improvement isn’t born out of ego—it’s born out of pride. Pride in doing things right. Pride in being the kind of player who doesn’t settle. And yes, maybe that makes him intense. Maybe it makes him hard to approach. But it also makes him someone who doesn’t break under pressure, who doesn’t shy away from challenges, and who quietly holds himself—and everyone around him—to a higher standard.
He wants to finish things until they’re polished and there is no more room for errors.
Tumblr media
+ There’s also this layer of competitiveness and self-awareness that a lot of people miss. Sakusa doesn’t gloat. He doesn’t react much even after scoring a match point. But put a strong rival in front of him, and it’s like watching a storm roll in. He focuses, studies them like a puzzle, and works until he can dismantle their strengths piece by piece.
When Kageyama said he seemed “average”? Sakusa didn’t get angry because of insecurity—he got irritated because he knew better. He knew what he was capable of, and being underestimated wasn’t something he tolerated, not because he needed praise, but because it was factually incorrect.
That’s such a realistic and mature reaction, honestly. He’s not prideful for the sake of ego. He’s just confident in his analysis—another sign of his realist mindset. Like, imagine if someone said you were just “okay” in something you excel in—you would be angered too, no?
Tumblr media
Komori and Washio have both pointed out his bluntness, which people often confuse for rudeness. But it’s not that Sakusa doesn’t care about people—he just values honesty more than pleasantries. His sense of humor exists (surprise, he’s funny I wanna k*ss him so badly), but it’s dry and subtle, more likely to show up during a deadpan tease than a laugh-out-loud moment. FREE MY MAN FROM THE TOO SERIOUS ALLEGATIONS
And the thing is, his quietness isn’t arrogance. It’s just... focus. He observes. He analyzes. He doesn’t speak unless there’s something worth saying. And in a world obsessed with noise, that can look like superiority when it’s actually just self-possession (the state or feeling of being calm, confident, and in control of one's feelings; composure).
Tumblr media
People love to shorthand it as “germophobia,” but that misses what he actually feels—he’s just blunt about the things he dislikes (which is getting dirt on him or possibly getting sick). Sakusa’s fear of germs isn’t irrational or obsessive in the way the label implies. It’s rooted in control—specifically, his desire not to compromise his physical condition.
He’s hypermobile, meaning his joints move beyond the normal range. That kind of body demands meticulous care, because one wrong move or a simple cold or injury can set him back.
A research conducted by Nathan et. al. (2018) concluded that “Hypermobility is relatively common among individuals, and there is a lot of anecdotal evidence associating it with increased rates of injuries. This project finds that NH individuals are more likely to sustain a ligament or joint sprain in sports. This is due to increased joint laxity and flexibility preventing injury.” The limitations of this research are “assessing for particular hypermobility and focusing on one sport to investigate its association with sports injury in those who are hypermobile or not + focusing on one specific joint, assessing its flexibility and association with injury.”
So yeah, he avoids crowds. He wears a mask. He probably wipes down his water bottle like it’s a sacred artifact (maybe !! I do too because I don’t wanna get sick in this scorching summer heat in the archipelago I live in). But this isn’t just paranoia—it’s discipline. It’s the same discipline that drives him to spike a ball 378 times just to get better or to keep setting until his hands blister because he’s not satisfied with “good enough.”
He doesn’t just wear a mask because he’s scared of germs for no reason—his caution is tied to his identity as a perfectionist and realist.
Sakusa is hyperaware.
He’s constantly calculating risks—on and off the court. He isn’t trying to be dramatic about hygiene; he’s just cautious. Everything he does is intentional. When you look at how he plays, you realize that he’s methodical, adaptable, and incredibly precise. He doesn’t waste energy or motion—his gameplay is almost pristine. That’s not someone who’s just gifted; that’s someone who demands the best from himself, which probably explains why he’s so cautious about staying healthy and injury-free.
SAKUSA ISN’T A MEANIE BLUNT JERK PLS (okie, maybe a little, but all is forgiven; I can apologize for him #mybebeloves)
++ Sakusa’s not closed off because he doesn’t care—he’s closed off because he does. He’s observant, he listens, and he notices the little things others miss. His standards are high, but he holds himself to them first. That quietness, that distance, it’s a kind of armor (could be a response to what he experienced in childhood—probably neglect OR fear of attachment). But underneath it, there’s someone fiercely devoted to the game, someone who knows the cost of excellence and still chooses to pay it every day.
Sakusa isn’t the type to shout or make a big deal out of things, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t care. You can tell he respects and values his teammates, even if he’s sarcastic or reserved. He notices small details that other players might overlook, and that says a lot about his thoughtfulness. His kind of loyalty is quiet but strong—he doesn’t need to be loud to lead or connect with people.
I also think his quietness is often mistaken for arrogance.
He’s not trying to act superior; he just genuinely thinks deeply before speaking or acting. That makes him come across as aloof, especially in a sport where a lot of top players are loud or super high-energy. But honestly, I find his presence really grounding. He brings a calm intensity that balances out more explosive personalities like Bokuto (another bebeloves of mine ☹️).
And let’s be real—Sakusa wouldn’t fall for someone he couldn’t trust. If he lets Y/N into his space, into his world, that means everything. It means he’s choosing them, despite every instinct he’s built to protect himself. So no, he wouldn’t be a jerk to them (pls just let my bebeloves love with his whole heart 😪). He might be a little blunt, a little awkward maybe. But he’d be gentle in his own quiet way. The kind of love that’s slow, thoughtful, but undeniably real. LIKE HE’S A BOY LET HIM BE GOOFY, MY SILLY LITTLE CUPCAKE DESERVES JUSTICE 😭 DON’T MAKE HIM A MEANIE I AM BEGGING ON MY KNEES
So yeah, when I write for Sakusa, I make him 20% serious and 80% loverboy 😋🫶

flashback.
On December 21, your parents told you that they were separating. Your father claimed he fell out of love with your mother and already had a family in the US. You were devastated, to say the least. But mostly, you were confused. How could he? How could he do this to you, your sister, and your mother? They seemed so happy together. They never argued, well, not in front of you and your sister at least. They were the perfect couple. You looked up to them. You wanted to have what they had with your future significant other, and now your parents were telling you that they are separating because your father fell out of love?
pitiful.
Your father said he was leaving to go to the states in 6 months. Out of anger, your mother decided it was best to move, without leaving a trace of your father. She called this a clean slate. Moving meant you had to transfer schools. You were a third year, who was now going to be attending Itachiyama Institute, while your younger sister who was still in junior high was attending Okojo Middle School. Still, you couldn’t believe it. Your own father, the person you looked up to the most, was abandoning you, your mother, and your sister. Why weren’t you guys good enough for him? How come it’s so easy for him to leave? It just wasn’t fair.

What is love? Well, there are many ways to interpret the word “love”. When we love someone we experience positive thoughts and experiences with them bur we also experience a deep sense of care and commitment towards that person. Love means to be deeply committed and connected to someone or something. The feeling of love should be mutual with you and your significant other.
You loved Sakusa Kiyoomi. He was your first love.
You remembered the day you met. It was your first day at Itachiyama Institute  and your previous school was Nekoma High. You were the manager for Nekoma’s volleyball team, which meant that you’d go with them to practice camps, games, and you’d stay after school hours to help out, which was why you were so close to Kenma and Kuroo. You met Kenma and Kuroo when you were a first year, you and Kenma were in the same class and you volunteered to be a manager for the volleyball team, which resulted to you becoming bestfriends with Kenma and Kuroo. You both were now finally third years, Kenma was captain of the team after Kuroo left and Kuroo couldn’t have been more proud. At first, Kenma didn’t want to be the captain because he claimed it was “too much work”, but once you and the other team members forced convinced him to try it out, he ended up loving it.
Tumblr media
Your first day at Itachiyama was okay, you didn’t talk much, or really make new friends. It was the same old, you’d introduce yourself in front of the class, then they’d greet you and ask you questions on how your previous school was or why you moved. At lunch, you sat outside, alone, until you saw two boys walk in front of you. One was wearing a mask and the other was smiling and waved at you.
“Hello! My name is Komori Motoya and this is my cousin. We have class together, right?” he said as he brought his right arm out, offering to shake yours.
“Oh, um yes, we do! Hi Komori, my name is L/N Y/N.” you said, shaking his hand. Once you both let go you looked at Komori’s cousin who was standing next to him, but was slightly behind him.
“You must be Sakusa Kiyoomi, right?” you said walking towards him. He didn’t say anything, he just nodded while his hands were placed in his pockets.
“Uh, how did you know that?” Komori asked as he chuckled, scratching the back of his head.
“Well, I know your name too. I’ve seen you and your team play! You guys are really good.” you explained, Komori shook his head in excitement.
“Oh, really? Are you into volleyball? Do you play?” He asked.
“Well, I’m not really good at it. I used to play in junior high, but I stopped once I got into high school. I love watching the games though! I was the team manager at my previous school.”
“Really? That’s amazing! Our team is looking for a team manager! You should really apply, i’m pretty sure the coach would be happy.” Komori said.
“Oh! Well, that’s great! I’ll check definitely come visit tomorrow after school.” You said as you started to pack your things because lunch was ending soon.
“That’s great y/n!” he said, “Well, we’ll see you around in class.”
“Yeah, bye!” You waved at the two and they waved back.
Tumblr media
“Everyone, gather around! Meet the new addition to the managers for the team! The coach said.
“My name is L/N Y/N! I’m new here and I just transferred from Nekoma High!” you said, bowing your head. Some of the teammates were whispering once they heard you mention Nekoma. “I’m hoping to get to know you all better! I’ve seen you guys play before and it’s an honor to be working with you all! you said.
“she talks a lot.” Sakusa thinks, having a bored look on his face and makes a mental note of this.
“Trust me y/n, the pleasure is ours!” the coach chuckles.
You suddenly realize how the gym is full of boys who are basically towering over you and awkwardly laugh back, followed by an awkward silence. You then remembered about the homemade granola you had made for the team, which you had been carrying this whole time.
“Oh! I almost forgot! I made some homemade granola bars to show my gratitude towards you all.” You started to pass the bars out to each team member as they thanked you and praised you for how good the bars tasted. You were making your way to give a bar to the last person who hasn’t received it yet, which was Sakusa Kiyoomi.
He was taller than his other teammates, wearing a mask and it almost seemed as if he was giving you a look of disgust, judging by the way his face was scrunched up. He looked intimidating, but you didn’t want to judge someone off of their looks, so you walked up to him and tried to start a conversation with him.
“Hello, Sakusa! I just wanted to thank you and Komori for coming up to me yesterday. It meant a lot considering the fact that I was new and i’m not very good at making friends-“
“You talk a lot.” Sakusa interrupted, his cousin heard him since he wasn’t that far away from you both and quickly walked up to him.
“Sakusa! It wouldn’t hurt you to be nice and not so upfront all the time!” his cousin said.
“I’m kidding!” sakusa says to his cousin, shaking his head and chuckles, then turns back to you.
“I’m kidding,” He repeats once again, “Sorry that I wasn’t really talking yesterday. I’m not good with people either.” He says and you both laugh. “I’m pretty sure you’re the person i’m supposed to be showing the school around to tomorrow.”
“Oh, yeah. You don’t really have to if it’s going to-“
“You really do tend to ramble a lot.” he interrupts once again. He won’t tell you, but he finds it cute how flustered you get, you seem so innocent.
“Sorry, it’s a bad habit of mine.” you scratched the back of your head and laughed a bit.
“All right everyone, Time to pack up!” the coach said, getting up from the bench.
“See you tomorrow?” Sakusa says.
“Yep!”
“Bye Y/N!” Komori says as he waved at you. You waved back and started to pack things up and went home.
Tumblr media
1 and a half years later.
“Omi, have you seen my shampoo? I left it here at your place and I checked the bathroom and it wasn’t there anymore.” you said as you walked out of his bathroom, wearing nothing but a towel.
“No babe,” Sakusa says, “Just use mine. It isn’t that big of a deal. We can buy you your shampoo once you finish taking a shower if it’s bothering you this much.”
“It’s fine. I was just checking to see if you saw it, it isn’t that big of a deal.” you assured him with a smile.
“Maybe I should join you in the shower?” Sakusa suggested, “saves more water.”
“You’re too much.” you laughed, “let’s go shower!”
You and Sakusa finally graduated high school and decided to take a year break before attending college to spend time together since Sakusa wasn’t planning on going to college. You guys didn’t live together, He had an apartment of his own that was near your house and you’d stay there most of the time. Which meant, more sex.
Of course, it took sakusa some time to be comfortable to have sex with you, but he trusted you a lot. he knew you were clean and you took proper care of yourself
not staying abstinent from sex is something you regret, but are happy that you forgot to take the pill that one day. If you had, you still would’ve been with Sakusa. But since you didn’t, you ended up pregnant and gave birth to the person that makes you the happiest, your daughter.
Tumblr media
You remember taking the pregnancy test, your heart dropped.
“fuck. i’m fucked.” you muttered.
Your hands were shaking as you held the pregnancy test, which said “positive” and your fingers were slowly becoming more cold by each passing seconds and your anxiety was getting the best of you.
what is sakusa gonna say? he already said he didn’t want kids. what was your mother going to say? Oh, your mother was going to kill you. Sakusa isn’t gonna like this at all. Maybe he will? Maybe he’ll tell you everything is okay and that he’ll be with you every step of the way. Should you tell Komori to tell him? No. Sakusa won’t believe him and it’ll result in him asking you anyways. Kenma! text Kenma. Then text Akira. They’ll know what to do. Wait! you need to make sure you’re 100% pregnant. This is only one test. there’s no way you’re pregnant.
So you took 2 more test. All of them were positive.
“shitt.” you took a deep breath in and closed your eyes. Tears were threatening to spill and the once appetite you once had was now gone. You were in Sakusa’s apartment bathroom, he had gone to go pick up the food you had ordered for the movie night you and him were planning to have.
You quickly got out of the bathroom and made your way to your phone to call Kenma and tell him. By now you were sobbing.
“Y/n, are you 100% sure you’re pregnant?” he said in a firm voice. He too was trying not to panic.
“Y-yes! I’ve taken like th- three test now!” you said, you were breaking down and it was hard for you to even speak clearly. “Kiyoomi i-is not going to be happy at all. I only missed one day of not t-taking the pill.”
“Y/n, i’m going to need you to breathe for me. You may not believe me now, but everything will be okay. You have to tell him. He will still love you. Isn’t it his baby?” he asked, this annoyed you. Why did he even ask that? obviously it was his. Kenma didn’t mean any harm when he asked you, but you took it to offense.
“O-obviously kozume. Why would you even ask that?” you were pacing around in the living room, trying to calm yourself down. “Kenma he’s here. He just texted me he’s outside and he’s-he’s coming. I’m scared, i don’t know how to handle this.”
“Y/n, please breathe. Everything is going to be okay please calm down, okay? You got this. If you want me to come over I can. Do you still want me to stay on the line?” he asked.
“N-no, I’m fine. Thank you Kenma. I’m gonna hang up now.”
“You’re welcome y/n. I love you.” he said, a smile resting on his face.
“love you too.”
you quickly went back to the bathroom to throw the pregnancy test away and hid it further in the trash so Sakusa wouldn’t find it. You quickly washed your face, so it would look like you weren’t crying and if he asked you why your eyes were so red you’d just say soap got in your eyes. Right when you finished washing your face, Sakusa entered the place, immediately heading to the kitchen sink to wash his hands.
“Hey,” he said grabbing the soap next to him and rubbing it with his hands.
“Hey.” you said softly, placing one hand on your opposite arm and walking towards him to embrace him.
“Happy anniversary, I love you so much.” He said, hugging you and burying his head in the crook of your neck.
“I love you more, Kiyoomi.” you said. He pulled away and stared at your face in mischief and then squinted.
“You don’t usually call me Kiyoomi unless you’re upset or worried about something. What’s up?”
Shit.
It was a bad habit of yours. When something was bothering you, or when you were upset, you’d usually call Sakusa, Kiyoomi. Usually you’d call him by his nickname, which was Omi.
“It’s nothing, Omi. I’m hungry! Let’s eat!” you say as you tried to hug him again, but he doesn’t budge.
“y/n, come on, i know you.” he says softly, as you both stood in the kitchen. He stares at you for a little longer, tucking the strands of your hair behind your ear, easing your tenseness so you could feel comfortable enough to talk to him and then cupped your cheek. “Talk to me- wait, have you been crying?”
Ugh.
you’re crying again. you’re crying really hard. Sakusa starts to panic at the random burst of tears that are falling at a rapid pace and pulls you in for a tight hug, not caring that you haven’t washed your hands yet.
“hey, hey, y/n shh, it’s okay.” Sakusa says, stroking your hair softly. “baby, talk to me. Tell me what’s wrong, please.”
You sob on his chest, he slightly cringes at the thought of your tears wetting his shirt, but he doesnt mention it.
“N-no, I cant. You’ll hate me.” you say, burying your face in his chest. Sakusa lets out a sigh of confusion and continues to stoke your hair.
“I’m pretty sure there’s nothing you could do that would make me hate you y/n. I love you, dummy.” he chuckled, you laughed as well and let go of him and wiped your tears. You took a deep breath and then let a out a forced laugh and then faced Sakusa.
“Okay,” You said letting out a sigh, “I’m,”
“you’re?”
“Never mind, I cant do this.” you walked away from him and ran to the bathroom and locked yourself there and started breaking down. Sakusa was quick to follow you, but you locked the door. You were confusing the hell out of him. He thought you were trying to break up with him.
You couldn’t tell him. Not when he had already told you he didn’t want kids. Did you even want kids? Aborting the baby was not an option. Knowing the type of person you are, you’d probably feel too guilty and you didn’t need that guilt following you for the rest of your life.
“Y/n, I understand you may need space right now. Whenever you’re ready please talk to me, I love you.”
Why was he so good to you?
Tumblr media
About 30 minutes later, you finally come out from the bathroom and you see Sakusa scrolling through his phone. The food he had ordered was still on the table, probably cold by now.
“Hey,” you said walking up to him and sitting next to him on the couch.
“Hey,” he smiled, “you ready to talk to me now?”
“uh, yeah.” you took a deep breath, and Sakusa patiently waited for you to speak up.
“So, you know how I’m on birth control?” you asked, he cocked his head and furrowed his brows, wondering what birth control had to do with what was bothering you.
“yes..”
“Oh, okay.” you said, you took another deep breath in, then out, then you closed your eyes because you felt tears rushing down again.
“Y/n,” sakusa says softly, You rest your head on his chest once again, and he continues to softly rub your back. “Y/n, you’re scaring me. Are you breaking up with me?”
“No!” you say as you lift your head up to face him. You cup his cheek gently and give him a soft smile. “no, i’m not baby.” You put your hand down and faced forward, while sakusa was staring at you from your side. Sakusa gives a sigh of relief.
“I’m pregnant.” you blurted out.
“what?” he heard you, he just didn’t know if he heard it right.
“Kiyoomi, i’m pregnant. it’s yours.” you’re facing him now, but he looks away. He lets go of the hand that was once holding yours and faces forward.
“Omi, please say something.” you say, you started to get worried and you felt a weird sensation in your stomach as if you were about to throw up.
“Are you sure y/n? Is this some type of prank because if it is-“
“no, it’s not a prank. i’ve taken three test and they were all positive, kiyoomi. i’m pregnant.”
“holy shit.” is all he mutters, he places both of his hands together and they land on his face and the face he was currently making was unreadable. You couldn’t tell if he was mad or upset, but he certainly didn’t seem happy one bit.
“is that seriously all you’re gonna say?” you scoff, he doesn’t look at you, he’s still facing forward.
“take another test,”
“what?”
“take another test,” he repeats, now getting up from the couch and pacing up and down the living room. “you need to take another test.”
“i already told you, i took three and they were all positive-“
“just take another test y/n, damn it!” your eyes widen at his sudden burst of anger, he’s staring at you, boring his eyes onto you and then he quickly looks away and takes a steady breath in. “i need to see this for myself, just take another test, okay?”
you scoff.
you wipe of the tears on your face and you walk to the bathroom rather quickly, sakusa following not far along.
you open another one of the test that you haven’t used yet without saying a word to sakusa, he’s leaning on the bathroom door with the same bored expression he usually has on his face.
once you’ve finished, you wait a few minutes for the test to see it’s results.
positive.
“are you satisfied? or do i need to take another test?” you mutter, sakusa looks at the test that is now placed on this sink, crossing his arms.
“we can’t keep this baby-“
“what? what are you talking about?” you interrupt him. Is he being serious? He doesn’t have a say on what whether you keep the baby or not.
“y/n, think about it!” he explains, walking closer to you, “we’re 18, and i have a career that i’m working hard on and you have college-“
“are you being serious right now, kiyoomi?” you raise your voice and back away from him with a hurt expression on your face.
“Y/n, it wouldn’t be smart to keep this baby. We can’t be parents right now. I’m not ready to be a dad yet,” he’s not raising his voice because he’s trying his hardest to avoid an argument. “I cant- i can’t do this.”
“w-what?” you feel tears forming again. What can’t he do? What is he trying to say? “Kiyoomi, look, I know this is a lot. Trust me it’s a lot for me too! But i’m keeping this baby. It’s our responsibility since we weren’t responsible enough.”
He scoffs at this and shakes his head “we? we weren’t responsible? last time i checked, you were the one who didn’t do your part. all you had to do was take one damn pill. is it seriously that hard?”
He can’t seriously be blaming you right now.
“I’m sorry y/n, but i seriously can’t be a dad. We already said that we’re not having kids. They’re messy, annoying and not to mention, they cause too much stress. You have to abort the baby-“
“I don’t have to do shit,” you interrupt once again, you were crying, you were so upset. This was so unlike kiyoomi. you felt nauseous, and it wasn’t the baby. “And i never said i didn’t want kids, we never even agreed on that, you just said you didn’t want them. What happened to you? Yeah, we’re young, but i’m willing to make that sacrifice. All you’re worried about is your stupid volleyball career. I told you i’m keeping this baby and if you aren’t okay with that, then maybe we should break up!” You were yelling, too caught up in the moment to realize what you had just said, it was a lot for Sakusa to process. It’s only normal that he’d be suprised but it doesn’t mean he had to put all the blame on you. You were already aware it was partly your fault, and now you were willing to own up for your mistakes. Why wasn’t he? He looked at you in shock, then walked back and forth and you kept your eyes on him wondering what he would say next.
“you think so?”
“There’s no point in being together if you don’t want to be in this baby’s life, Kiyoomi. You know this.”
“So what, you’re just gonna let go of what we have that easily?” he asked, everything he was saying was getting on your fucking nerves.
“You think it’s easy, Kiyoomi?” you let out a humorless laugh, “You think it’s easy for me to let you go? You are literally my the love of my fucking life. The first person who made me have butterflies in my stomach when all you’d do is just stare at me. Now that a baby is on the way things are obviously going to be changing and i need to put this baby first before everything and you’re obviously not willing to do that and It hurts- it fucking hurts that you didn’t even assure me that everything was going to be alright. That you’d still love me and be right by my side even though Ive decided that i am keeping the baby. I had to call kenma right before you came and even he said you’d assure me, but you didn’t. I’m not even upset at you for being suprised, but there are better ways to react Kiyoomi, especially in situations like this. You saying you’re not ready to be a dad is okay, but the fact that you aren’t willing to make the sacrifice hurts. So don’t say it’s easy for me when you’re the one that’s letting go.”
By the time you finished speaking, you were choking on your own sobs and you could barely even speak clearly. Sakusa looked like he was on the verge of tears, but he probably didn’t want to cry in front of you. He didn’t say anything either or make eye contact with you either. He just headed to the kitchen and started cleaning out any leftovers that were too old in the fridge. You aren’t even suprised. You see, Sakusa doesn’t like opening up to people. The thought of being so vulnerable and opening up like what you had just did scared Kiyoomi. He wanted to be the one that would cheer you up when something was bothering you but when it came to him, he’d keep his emotions or how he was feeling to himself. It was a bad habit of his but you still loved him and understood that it would take some time. Yes, it does hurt that he didn’t say anything after you literally opened up, but maybe this was how it was supposed to end.
You looked at him with such disbelief. You scoffed and then wore your jacket and shoes and left.
He didn’t chase after you, it’s not like you would listen anyways. All he did was say that he wasn’t ready to be a parent and how you should abort the baby. Did he think you were ready? Because you weren’t. But you were willing to make a sacrifice for this baby of yours. There’s no point in forcing him to become a father if that’s clearly not what he wants. That’s fine though, you know you’d have other people support you, even if it meant that Sakusa wouldn’t be supporting you anymore.
“Goodbye, Kiyoomi.”

summary: the night of your wedding and the month after word count. 2.5k cw. marriage pact au, fluff, suggestive a/n. if you want to be added to the taglist, please just send me ask!♡ and... i love cutie patootie kiyoomi •ᴗ• Masterlist
Your wedding has finally come to an end. The guests are saying their goodbyes to you and Kiyoomi. Most of the wedding guests are family and friends, although there are also some of your coworkers and Kiyoomi's teammates from MSBY and the national volleyball team. The only ones staying at the hotel are you, Kiyoomi, and both of your parents.
Before heading home, Komori, who also served as Kiyoomi’s groomsman, comes over to bid farewell. He raises both hands and exclaims, “You guys!” Then, he half-whispers, “I’m so happy you both decided to do this. Just go with the flow, eventually, everything will fall into place.” You furrow your brows, not quite understanding his words. “What??” you ask. But he brushes you off, “Anyway! Does this mean our meetups will be me third wheeling you both?!” You roll your eyes at this. Komori grins, “I’ll just invite my wife along!” Kiyoomi responds, “Of course, you can do that.” Komori cheers, “Woohoo!” You exchange glances with Kiyoomi and mouth to him, “I think he’s drunk.” Kiyoomi scoffs at that.
Next, Tami comes up to you both, hugging you and offering her congratulations. “You look so beautiful, I’m fucking crying, you know?!” she says. You laugh and thank her. She then turns to Kiyoomi, “Treat her right, okay?” emphasizing the word ‘treat’ while winking. You groan, “Stop, will you?!” She chuckles and hands you what seems to be a goody bag. As you observe it, you realize it’s a gift. You hug her once more. Tami adds, “Please open it and give me an honest review!” You squint your eyes at her words but then thank her again before she leaves.
After saying goodbye to a few more guests, the last ones are your bridesmaids. You thank them profusely and the four of you share a group hug before they finally leave. Now, it’s just you, Kiyoomi, and your parents.
Kiyoomi’s mother approaches you. “Take a good rest, okay? Both of you.” she smiles and squeezes Kiyoomi’s hand. Then, she turns to you and gently caresses the side of your head. “Okay?” she asks again. Kiyoomi nods. You smile reassuringly and answer, “Okay.” You look behind his mom and notice that both of your parents and Kiyoomi’s father are still sitting at the dinner table, waving their hands. You take Kiyoomi’s hand and approach them to excuse yourselves, which they nod enthusiastically.
You and Kiyoomi will have a room together. For obvious reason. So, you head to your room together, carrying the wedding gifts you received.
You step inside your hotel room, a spacious suite with a large living room. Your suitcases are already there. The living room is decorated with soft, warm lighting from the lamps, and rose petals are scattered around, giving it a romantic ambiance. You slip out of your heels and groan, feeling the relief in your feet. Kiyoomi follows behind you.
As you enter the room, you notice the rose petals on the bed and giggle. Kiyoomi looks at you quizzically. “What?” he asks.
“Nothing. This is just so cute,” you reply, smiling at him.
He hesitates before saying, “You can take the room. I’ll just sleep on the couch.”
You respond quickly, “Don’t be ridiculous!” You don’t want to make him sleep on the couch. There’s no harm in sleeping together on the bed. Unless… is it a problem for him? Leaning on the door, you ask, “Omi, is there a problem? The couch is too small for you. It’s better if I’m the one who sleeps there.”
Kiyoomi looks uncomfortable. “Please don’t. It’s just…” He seems hesitant, so you wait for him to continue. “I just never share a bed with anyone.”
You raise your eyebrows in surprise. “What? I thought you used to have sleepovers with Komori?”
Kiyoomi scratches his head, looking slightly embarrassed. “Uh, he kinda just sleeps in the other room.”
Okay. So, he really values his personal space. You sigh. “Okay, I’ll take the couch then.”
Kiyoomi shakes his head. “No. Please. I’ll take it.”
You insist, “Omi, seriously, look at that couch. It’s small. There’s no way you could sleep comfortably there!”
The two of you argue for a few minutes until Kiyoomi finally sighs in resignation. “Okay. Let’s just sleep on the bed.”
You’re silent for a moment, not wanting to overstep his boundaries. “Omi, I don’t know. I don’t want to force you to do something you’re not comfortable with.”
Kiyoomi gently takes your hand. “No, please. Let’s just sleep on the bed.”  His touch is reassuring, and you both walk inside the room.
After that, you start to remove your makeup and change into your pajamas—a silky short-sleeve button-up and matching shorts. You wait your turn to use the bathroom to brush your teeth, wash your face, and apply skincare. A few moments later, Kiyoomi is done. Your eyes widen when you see him shirtless, wearing only his black shorts for sleep. Damn, his body is really the embodiment of years playing volleyball. You quickly look away, not wanting him to catch you ogling.
“Oh. You’re done,” you say, your voice cracking slightly, making you want to slap your face.
“Yeah,” he answers.
When you come out of the bathroom, you thank God to see that he has put on a shirt. Before sleeping, you suggest opening the wedding gifts together in the living room, and he agrees. Most of the wedding gifts are small and cute home decor items, like candles and picture frames. You stack the gifts on the table, then glance at Kiyoomi, who is reading a note from one of the gifts with furrowed brows.
You take a look at the gift and are surprised to see a white piece of lacy lingerie. Quickly snatching the box from his lap, you notice the bag. Of course, it’s Tami’s gift. Kiyoomi looks at you with a confused expression.
“Can I see the note?” you ask.
He hands you the note obediently. It reads, ‘have fun strutting your stuff in this lingerie! pls give me a review of how he reacts!! xoxo’
You cover your face, feeling your cheeks heat up. “I’m sorry. She’s always like that.”
Kiyoomi just stares at you. Shit. His lack of response leaves you flustered and unsure of what to say next.
After that embarassing moment, you finish unpacking the last box and head to the bed. As you lay down and take your side of the bed, you feel a tad bit awkward, never having been in this position with him before. You glance at Kiyoomi, who is lying on his back with both hands on his stomach, staring at the ceiling. Your eyes catch the glint of the wedding ring on his finger, reminding you of a question you've been meaning to ask.
"Hey," you say softly.
He turns his head towards you. "Hm?"
"I've been wondering, when did you buy the ring?"
"Huh?" he responds, sounding slightly confused.
"The wedding ring that you gave me when we were planning this last month."
"Oh. I think around New Year's," he replies.
"Like, exactly on the 1st of January?" you ask, curious.
He hums in confirmation.
"Don’t tell me you bought it as soon as the reminder you set appeared?" you laugh incredulously.
"I did, actually," he admits.
You laugh, "You’re really something else."
"What if I’d been dating someone else?" you tease him.
"No, you weren’t," he says with certainty.
"What? Don’t be so sure! You don’t know!" you start to playfully kick him, annoyed at his confidence.
"I do know for sure. I asked Komori. That’s when I told him about our plan," he reveals.
You recall Komori inquiring about your love life when Kiyoomi wasn't around. You chuckle at his response and glance at the ring on his finger. "Can I see that?"
He notices you looking at his ring and moves closer, extending his hand to you. You compare his ring with yours, seeing how perfectly they match.
"These rings are beautiful," you say, admiring the way they catch the moonlight streaming in through the open curtains.
"You know, I kinda miss your mom. It’s been a while since we saw each other," you mention, turning your head to him and catching him already looking at you.
"I know, she always asks about you. She really likes you," Kiyoomi replies.
"And you never told me that she asks about me." You squint your eyes at him playfully.
He actually smiles, "Yeah, sorry about that."
After a bit more conversation, you both start to feel sleepy. You roll onto your respective sides of the bed, having some distance in between. Only to find both of you sleeping so close to each other in the morning.
Tumblr media
It’s been about a month since your marriage, and all of your belongings have been moved to Kiyoomi's apartment. You have a room for yourself, bigger than your previous one. Apart from moving out, one of the striking changes you feel is how people react to you. The news of your marriage has spread, and you can see it on social media. Not fond of being the center of attention, you made your Instagram private, avoiding unknown comments on your posts. At work, people from different divisions also try to peek into your room, whisper as you pass by, or stare at you for too long in the elevator. It’s a bit unsettling, but you know it’ll pass.
Despite the external commotion, adjusting to life with Kiyoomi has been pleasant. Living with him feels like having the best roommate you could ask for, making you sometimes forget that you're actually married to him. Every morning, you wake up around the same time. His apartment has two bathrooms, so there’s never a problem there. True to his nature, Kiyoomi is exceptionally clean and diligent in keeping the apartment tidy. While you’re not messy, you’re definitely not as meticulous as he is. His cleaning skills are a welcomed part of the chore division.
You take on most of the cooking, though not all the time. Occasionally, you both decide to order takeout. The idea of you cooking is mostly because you want healthier food consumed for both of you. You always ask about his diet plan and adjust the meals accordingly, constantly seeking his honest feedback. So far, there have been no complaints; he finishes everything on his plate.
Sundays are your designated grocery shopping day for the month. The arrangement for who pays for groceries has been completely ignored by Kiyoomi. Despite your attempts to take turns paying, he insists on covering the cost, leading to arguments at the cashier if you don't back down.
You’ve also let go of all your side jobs, giving you more free time than you’ve ever had. Kiyoomi, on the other hand, has been busy with his schedule. The volleyball season is nearing, and he’s been practicing a lot and also doing a few interviews with his team.
Tonight is Friday night, and you’re sitting in the living room, reading a novel recommended by a friend but haven’t read it until now because you used to be so hectic with work. Dinner is already prepared, and you’re feeling relaxed when you hear the apartment door open, signaling Kiyoomi's return.
"Hey," you greet him with a smile as he walks in.
"Hey," he replies hoarsely. Upon closer inspection, you notice that he looks paler than usual, his cheeks are flushed, and he seems more exhausted than ever. You immediately get up and approach him as he heads to the kitchen to wash his hands.
"Are you okay?" you ask with concern.
"I'm fine, just a bit of a cough," he replies, but you observe his forehead glistening with sweat despite the chill in the room. Instinctively, you press your hand to his cheek, making his eyes widen.
"No, you’re not. You’re burning, Omi," you say firmly.
"I can’t be sick; tomorrow is a practice match," he frowns, looking frustrated with himself.
"But you can’t be playing like this," you counter. "Let's get you more comfortable."
You guide him to the couch, feeling the heat radiating from his body. Heading back to the kitchen, you prepare some tea with honey and lemon, knowing the soothing warmth always helps when you are sick. While the kettle boils, you grab a bottle of water and bring it to him. "You need to stay hydrated," you reminded him gently, helping him take a few sips. Back in the kitchen, you scoop the food you made earlier. Luckily, you made fish soup. It will feel nice for his sore throat.
Returning with the tea and a couple of fever-reducing tablets, you instruct, "Here, drink this and take these." He complies, too tired to argue, and you watch as he slowly sips the warm liquid, the steam rising to soothe his congested sinuses.
You sit beside him, holding his hand and gently rubbing circles on his skin with your thumb. "Please, just rest, okay? If you’re lucky, you could be healthy by Monday. But if you keep forcing yourself, this could get worse." He just stares weakly at you, saying nothing.
As the night wears on, you take him to his room. Realizing you’ve never been inside his room before, you take in the tidy, mostly plain decor with black as the dominant color and a few brown accents. Volleyball gear is organized in the corner, and his desk holds pictures of his winning moments in matches, including a photo of you, him, and Komori at your high school graduation. You smile at the memory.
You make sure the blankets are adjusted properly as he mumbles, "I need to get better," frustration clear in his voice.
"You'll get there. Just rest now. Your body needs time to heal," you reassure him.
He mumbles something you can’t quite hear, so you ask, "Hm?"
"I want to practice," he repeats. You giggle at his stubbornness, noting that he’s more talkative than usual, likely due to the fever. He continues, "I want to practice and train, paying attention and succeeding until the day I play my last game."
You realize how dedicated Kiyoomi is to his work, which explains why he is one of the best volleyball players in the country. You’ve always admired his dedication and felt proud of his progress since the day you met him. Feeling a surge of warm emotion, you take his hand and gently run your fingers through his hair.
"Omi, you’ll get better. Accidents happen no matter how well you prepare; there’ll always be something unexpected," you say softly. He stares at you weakly as you continue, "Please, just rest for now. Let me take care of you, and let’s hope the fever will subside soon."
He closes his eyes as you run your hand through his hair. Then, he squeezes your hand and says, "Okay."
"Okay," you echo, smiling at him. "I’m always so proud of you, Omi," you add, your voice filled with sincerity. You both hold hands and stare at each other for a while. Until you say, "I’ll let you sleep. I put the water here." You get up, pressing your hand one last time to his forehead to check his fever. He nods at you in acknowledgment.
In the morning after you wake up, the first thing you do is check on him. Tiptoeing into his room, you feel relieved and glad to see that his fever has started to subside, and his breathing seems more relaxed.

Swan and Shadow [Sakusa Kiyoomi x Miya!Reader]
Summary: Where the brooding Sakusa Kiyoomi unknowingly falls in love with the Miya sister. What happens next?
Chapter 12 [Masterlist]
Sakusa sat on the edge of his bed, still in his tracksuit. The only sound was the dull hum of the ceiling fan and the muted pounding in his head. The towel from the game was still clenched in his fist, damp from stress, not sweat.
MSBY lost. And he knew exactly why.
Before he could spiral further, the front door creaked open.
"Yo!" Sakusa looked up, barely lifting his head. “Motoya.”
Standing in the doorway with snacks, in socks half sliding off, was Komori - his most consistent visitor. “Thought I’d come cheer up the tragic prince,” Motoya said, tossing a bag of chips on the table.
“I’m not in the mood.”
“Hey—come on.” Motoya flopped onto the couch. “It's our ritual.”
Sakusa didn’t budge.
“We’ve done this since we were five. You tank a game, we break it down, frame by frame, and cry into snacks after. It’s practically sacred.”
Sakusa let out a sigh but finally dragged himself to the couch, dropping like dead weight beside him. Motoya was already scrolling through highlights on YouTube. “Okay, what happened to you in the second set? You pull a muscle? Get food poisoning?”
Silence.
Sakusa slouched deeper into the cushions, eyes on the floor. Motoya raised an eyebrow but said nothing. He kept clicking.
Click.
Click.
Then froze.
The screen wasn’t showing volleyball clips anymore.
Nope- it was a curated carousel of ballet videos. You, dancing in a pale blue leotard. You, twirling in soft golden light. You, bowing at the end of a duet—Shinjiro at your side.
Motoya stared at the screen, dead silent.
“…Huh.”
Sakusa’s head snapped up in horror. “Don’t.”
Too late.
Motoya stood up on the couch, holding the remote high up like Simba in his hand, “What the hell is this?!”
Sakusa lunged, but Motoya scrambled backward, still towering on the cushions.
“Bro. BRO. You are one video away from making a FAN-CAM.”
“Give me the remote.”
“No.” Motoya squinted at the screen. “Wait—isn’t this the Miya sister?”
Sakusa let out a sound that wasn’t quite human. "You think I dont know that?"
“I mean—she’s hot, I get it. But dude. You hate drama—she comes with twin-sized baggage and a boyfriend!”
“It’s not—” Sakusa snatched the remote, flopping back onto the couch with a groan. “It’s not like that.”
Motoya raised an eyebrow. “You sure? Because this playlist says ‘ballet angel – slow motion edition.’”
Sakusa glared. “I didn’t name it.”
“You still saved it.”
Silence.
Sakusa stared at the paused video—your profile mid-turn, caught in soft spotlight.
“I just… like watching her dance,” he muttered.
Motoya sat beside him again, this time quieter. Realization hits him, “Wait, was she at the game? Is she why you lost your mojo?”
Sakusa sighs, then nods. "Her and..Shinjiro." Sakusa tells Motoya everything he saw.
Motoya sits beside him again, this time quieter. “Do you like her?”
Sakusa doesn’t answer immediately. Then, quietly, “I don’t know.”
Motoya studies him for a second. “Okay. Does spending time with her make you happy?”
Sakusa nods once.
“Do you think about her a lot?”
Another nod.
“…do you feel like you want to kiss her?”
Sakusa pauses. Really pauses. He doesn’t even realize he’s nodding until Motoya lets out a sharp breath and drops the joking tone entirely.
“Then snap out of it. Now is a terrible time for you to be feeling this way.”
Sakusa blinks, startled as Motoya continues,
“I don’t know if it’s a crush or infatuation or whatever, but this? This is not healthy. One—she’s a Miya. You know how that plays out. And two—she has a serious boyfriend. Like, press photos serious.”
Sakusa looks at him, wide-eyed and silent.
“I can’t control how I feel,” he finally says, voice low.
“No,” Motoya agrees. “But you can control what you do about it.”
There's a long pause as Sakusa takes in Motoya's words.
Then Motoya nudges him lightly. “So… what are you gonna do about it?”
Sakusa doesn’t answer. He just stares at the screen—at your paused silhouette, frozen mid-spin—and breathes.
Maybe it’s infatuation. Maybe it’s not.
But either way, he knows now— he can’t keep doing nothing.
Edited: Realized the next chapters weren't aligning. lol.
