hi sorry i dont even go here (bnha) i DO go here tho (your fics are pretty cool) but i couldve sworn most of the story in bnha was the pain that moral purism puts on a society, especially one of heroes and villains? and i couldve sworn that especially later into series, it got even more in your face about the morally grey and dubious nature of pinning all your hope into the black and white dichotomy that society would have you believe in? and that its healthier to BE morally grey rather than deny its existence all together and stick to your Idea of Purity Above All Else. or somefin. again i dont even go here, it just seems like "This is an abuser and this is the victim" is probably the simplist version of that idea horikoshi couldve written.
yknow. in the middle of a plot thats absolutely thick with it.
sorry you have some weird anons rn, but its my understanding that youre properly assessing the curtains
yep, you hit the nail on the head! ive said multiple times that ive adored mha's handling of morality so far, because it puts you with these excited young kids who want to be heroes because why wouldnt they want to be? heroes are the coolest and this society happens to be built around them and, cooler still, they're some of the lucky few that get to be trained to be heroes at a top school! and the viewer follows that, thinks the plot really will be that simple where we follow these lovable teens on their journey to become heroes, all the while with villains causing problems and testing their resolve.
but the heroes arent all good. and the villains arent all bad. and it's revealed to you very, very slowly but very, very thoroughly and the end result is devastating.
and the fandom looked at it and went 'okay! so these are the good characters and these are the bad characters'
#that gust of wind was the point going over your head babe#like i hate endeavour if u couldnt tell but as a character he does exactly as he's meant to#horikoshi wanted to show that not all heroes are fully good so he made the number 1 hero a child abuser. it doesnt come more on the nose#and generally the fandom accepts that pretty well and they're receptive to endeavour as a character#but when horikoshi then wanted to show that not all villains are fully evil so he took endeavour's SON WHO HE ABUSED#and showed that the abuse directly caused him to suffer and become hateful and a villain in order to get back at his father#well. that's just dabi being an evil villain! what else is there!#i need a nap. approx 18 hours of sleep will fix me i think#ask#mha#mha spoilers
