bsd season 5 ep10 rambling
Episode 10 was so amazing! Like, even just the music, the whispering chants when Fyodor was trying to manipulate Sigma, the way all the music kicks in when Sigma touches Fyodor and One Order is activated, how it builds but then breaks into silence when Dazai gets “shot” in the head for the lead into the finale. Then much more ominous, war-drum music starts to play at the very end.
This episode was also just so brutal. Hearing Fyodor’s screams as he pretends to have a mental breakdown and then how young he looked, Atsushi’s screams as he has is limbs torn off, how quickly Fyodor just kicks Sigma in the fucking face, how abruptly Chuuya shoots Dazai in the shoulder, like with no hesitation, no sigh from Dazai like in the manga, and how pained Dazai sounded, like the way his voice almost broke on the pain when he yelled at Chuuya for shooting him in the shoulder.
Also Sigma bringing a gun to a knife fight and still losing against Fyodor is never not gonna be funny to me. But they did such a good job with all the Sigma and Fyodor stuff in my opinion, and I was really worried about that cuz like this is important stuff.
Don’t know how I feel about some of the changes to Dazai’s lines and lack of lines
Nearly had a heart attack when they started to include 110. But the way Aya’s father has made her feel like such a failure, but Bram has been trying to console her and make it clear that it isn’t her fault that this is happening or that it isn’t working out, it’s simply the way things are sometimes, is so good.
Also maybe stupid but I don’t really think that was Chuuya shooting Dazai several more times. It almost looked to me like a glitch in Fyodor’s feed of Dazai body. No more holes in the wall or seemingly Dazai show up. I think it was just a dramatic echo. It wouldn’t make any sense for Chuuya to shoot him more. Weren’t his orders. And Dazai only twitches twice for the 5 gunshots heard.
Kinda worried about what the next chapter releases will look like. Like, one episode this season on average has adapted about 3 chapters I feel like, and ep10 did 4, so if we have a completely anime only ep next week that the manga has to then adapt, I’m worried it’ll be a couple months/couple chapters until we get to new content. Honestly don’t know how any of this will work, so that’s fun. Totally not losing my mind.

Cello Anon! Hello again ahahah~ First of all, I am glad you feel comfortable sharing all kinds of questions about the Conjurer here, I hope my blog is indeed a safe space that invites to character contemplation and embracing the beauty of complicated characters. My blog wasn’t always one dedicated to Fedya, but I guess since January 2022 it officially is... Rachmaninoff started it all, I tell you.
For those interested in the first part of our discussions, the link is here. I will copy the text of the rest of your ask below the cut and add my answers there too. I hope you and fellow BSD fans will enjoy this nice, calm talk, largely about Fedya of course.
Cello Anon: “Also, I am not too worried about Fedya dying in the June chapter (that is.. if we have a prison gang chapter,, maybe Asagiri-sensei would change pov again =_=) bc he says so confidently that Dazai can't kill him,,, so it'd be just cheap writing to kill him off the very next chapter lol
. What I am more worried is Dazai might try to force and glean information out of Fedya being pushed into a tight spot now,,, but I have full faith in him, he will wriggle out of the situation and again the Dazai vs Fedya will become a stalemate as always.”
Ngl I have the slight intuition that ch102 will be a flashback chapter or, like you suggest, one that switches the point-of-view. But intuition does not help us much in this talk, because literally anything could happen. Still, writing-wise, I don’t think Asagiri would fall into the trope of killing characters off for shock. This never happened so far (Akutagawa and the entirety of the Port Mafia don’t count, they’re still there, they exist, unlike Odasaku...). And also ngl when I’ve read Fedya saying “You can’t kill me”, my Devil May Cry 5 love triggered and I couldn’t unhear Dante’s crazy battle theme there lol
* I will never get over how cool it sounds especially when sloooowly approaching enemies and letting the build-up grow and grow like in the video until minute 1:00, because in the game, the better you play, the hotter the music gets mmmm. Honestly I am infatuated with the moments from minute 4:00 onwards. To understand what I mean by “You cannot kill me”, just listen till you reach rank S and beyond, the lyrics repeat partially at SSS. Even if other battle themes are cooler imo, like... I’m sorry but Vergil’s theme 💩💩💩 I still love fighting as Dante the most).
Now, Dazai forcing information out of Fedya is indeed a plausible (and in my opinion very likely to be true) explanation as to why press him to the point of killing him. But I suspect Fedya is an “all or nothing” type of person, like me, so things cannot take that turn, or if they will, he will bring hell itself with him.
Cello Anon: “Moreover, we still need to know what his ability is,,, I have read many theories about his ability but none of them scratch that particular itch for me lol. Oh and also, I saw you mention somewhere (I can't remember where) that he might have a long-ranged ability after all,,, seeing the bloody chaos he pulled in Ace's ship, I agree. Let me raise you one more-- this man SINGLEHANDEDLY killed all the guards in the 7th Agency prison as well! Even if, say, Ace's guards were caught offguard, there is no way the 7th Agency guards won't put up a fight and not try to protect their very valuable prisoner?? Maybe, I am overlooking something but I am leaning towards his ability having an additional long range feature
.. Not like he needs his ability for his plans anyway. All he needs is a knife (I sometimes wonder if the fandom collectively forgets that Dead Apple exists bc wherever I turn, esp after the prison games started, all I can see is "Dazai at least spent some time in the PM while Fyodor is too weak and has no training at all!" The moves on this man doesn't seem like one without training???) and a gun and he is all set lol. I am amazed at how little he uses his ability and yet manages to be feared as the most dangerous man in BSD currently so much that Dazai wants to kill him off,, not even capture, straight up /kill/ hahaha”
Dear Cello Anon, did you notice how on my blog I never speculate on what Fedya’s ability, Crime and Punishment, actually is? Or how it works? My essay too, it is about Fedya’s personality, and thus it will not touch upon that kind of speculation. Do you know why that is so? It’s because I personally find it meaningless to speculate on his ability on my blog, precisely because it can be anything. I love reading posts who collect information, interpret it and deduce anything they can, and yet I myself refrain from doing so, and just await its reveal by Asagiri and Harukawa themselves. There are plenty of loose threads, one scarier than the other (like you pointed out, he killed the entirety of the Seventh Agency security guards in ch55 by himself, without a scratch, and that, together with “cleaning” the entirety of Ace’s ship in ch42, is not only impressive, but also frankly bonechilling. The post you are referring to is this one, in whose replies dear Alex (the post’s OP) wondered if Fedya has indeed a long-range attack too, as a possibility. While I love the idea, I neither support nor deny it. I simply do not hold any position in the “What is Fedya’s ability?” debate yet. I wait for more information. Lastly, it is indeed fascinating that Fedya used his ability extremely few times so far (or so it seems), and I love him for I admire this character for his strategical use of all resources he has at hand, be it ordinary means (classic stuff like information dealing, spreading false info, hacking, making deals, kidnapping with the purpose of obtaining info etc.), or just a handful of (seemingly disconnected) people. I will also talk extensively about Fedya’s methodology in my essay.
Cello Anon: “And hopefully we get to know his backstory on what actually made him start on this path and more (I bet something something to do with the Great War??) So yeah, he can't die now,,,, and as you say, he is too intelligent to die just like that. He carries a major part of the manga on his back so I won't accept his death without a satisfactory arc if he indeed has to /die/ after all T_T”
I am so excited to know his backstory too! Quite frankly, I will just lose my mind once it is revealed. Now, although Fedya’s age is not yet revealed (if he indeed has an age at all), if he is around Dazai’s or Kolya’s age (anything between 22 and 26, or even till 29 if we count in Shibusawa), then that means he was likely a child or a young teenager during the Great War, which in the BSD timeline took place 15 years ago, if I’m not mistaken. Yosano too (currently 25 like me), after all, was just a child when she took part in it, with Mori exploiting her ability to the point of breaking her spirit apart (ch65). I do talk a bit about the War and Fedya in a section where I speculate about something, but that one still needs to be fleshed out. We’ll see how it will turn out...
Cello Anon: “If this ask spoils a lot of your planned essay, you needn't answer it,,, your views about Fedya and mine seem a lot similar from what I can see :D --Cello Anon (I love this name <3) PS: I am starting to read Pandora Hearts bc of that one scene I saw on your blog and I really like it so far! PPS: I don't know which is the right blog to send you asks sorry! If you plan to answer this, you can answer on either, I will check it out no problem :)”
This was such a lovely interaction! Thank you for the asks, and for your enthusiasm <3 also I am SO happy to hear you started Pandora Hearts, it is indeed such a good, intricate story, with plenty of things to dwell on and all characters are simply superb! I hope you will enjoy the reading experience, as well as following MochiJun as her artstyle evolved and bloomed through the series. (Also yes, for BSD things like these, I much prefer receiving the ask on my main blog here <3) Have a peaceful Sunday~

SERIES MASTERLIST
chapter seven: burgundy
↳ word count: 6,1k
↳ spoiler warning: FULL ON DEAD APPLE
↳ other warnings: super super dark, wound descriptions, fighting descriptions, ANGST, manipulation
↳ a/n: Aira’s having an existential crisis but hey! so am I! also, writing Fyodor brings me so much joy, I-
Tumblr media
Aira blinked two times as she watched her blue replica smile at her. She stood in front of the creature, her hands gripping tighter the pistol.
What was going on?
The mass suicides turned out to be, indeed, serial killings with the victims being murdered by their own abilities. Aira had been trying to came up with the conclusion earlier that evening, yet only now it had struck her — someone, a man by the name of Shibusawa, to be exact, had caused the gifts to act up. That affect them attack their owners, making the death of theirs a truly terrifying experience.
Aira's knees weakened. If the abilities had taken a human-like form, did that mean that...
"Shit!" she shouted loudly, realizing that her deduction from before was right.
She had just tried to use the Time-master only to see if she could turn back time. As predicted — she couldn't. That meant she didn't have control over her own gift and in conclusion...
...the only way of bringing it back was probably to kill the blue hologram standing in front of her.
Without a second of hesitation, she pulled out her gun out once again, firing three shots at the being. Yet, instead of dropping dead, her doppelgÀnger simply shook its head and started walking towards her.
"Of course it wouldn't be that easy," Aira mumbled, reloading her gun.
She hoped the others would be alright. Her ability was more of a tactical one; when it came to combat, it was usually up to her to choose how she would use it. Turning back time was something that helped her buying time, causing no particular harm with the girt itself. The only damage that she could do was to use her knives and guns. When it came to Atsushi, Kyouka or Kunikida on the other hand, their gifts were certainly made for fighting. That meant, they were going to be affected physically more than her.
As the blue figure came closer, Aira rolled to the side, pulling the trigger as she shoot it into its jaw. She knew it wouldn't kill it, yet she hoped to buy some time in order to attack it once again. Grabbing her knife, she intended on stabbing her clone into its chest, however, it was faster than she thought. Moreover, it had the advantage of using the Time-master. With a blink of an eye, the clone turned back the time by four seconds, finding itself right behind Aira, ready to attack her with the knife. Before she managed to escape, the blue hologram smirked, reaching its hand to touch Aira's forehead.
"Wh—?!" she didn't managed to finish as her vision got blurry.
Trying to bring herself back, she blinked rapidly. But instead of returning back to reality she became nauseous; her body felt completely paralyzed, unable to move.
And then came something she wasn't expecting.
It was just as she shifted back to the living room of her parents house; the destroyed furniture, bullet holes in the walls, blood splattered everywhere — it was their murder scene.
But...
...the bodies weren't there.
Aira pulled out her gun with her trembling hands.
"What the hell is going on," she cried, her vision improving.
"Come to us, Aira."
Her breathing became uneven at the sound of the familiar voice.
Her mother was standing in the middle of the room, her corpse decaying. She reached out her hand, all covered in crimson liquid.
The scream coming from Aira's lungs was what brought her back to the reality. Her clone was standing over her collapsed body, knife ready to stab her right into her chest. Kicking its legs, Aira managed to escape, shooting five bullets without even realizing what she was doing.
What was this ability? Why was in her parents living room a moment before?
She had no time to think due to another series of attacks coming from her clone. Trying to defend herself, Aira run towards one of the buildings.
She needed a moment to come up with a plan. Moreover, she needed a moment to fully realize what was happening.
Yet, the hologram certainly had different plans. With a blink of an eye, Aira was being pulled down the stairs by her own coat. Grabbing her by her throat and touching her forehead with the other hand, the doppelgÀnger thrown her over the railing, causing her to fall down.
"Have you coped with your past, my love?" Dazai's voice rang in Aira's head.
It was when she realized she was standing in the middle of the pathway leading to the cemetery, they had visited this morning.
"You son of a..!" Aira yelled, snapping right back to the reality.
Her clone was running down the stairs, preparing for another attack.
Yet Aira couldn't help but think about what had just happened. Twice. Every time the hologram had touched her forehead, she was being forced to relive to her memories and the most petrifying fears. And each moment she shouted something, she was being brought back right away.
Was it another ability she wasn't aware of? Like the exact one she discovered during her first meeting with Chuuya?
It seemed exactly like it.
But then another question came — Dazai's one. He didn't ask her that just because they were visiting his friend's grave. He did it because he knew something about her gift she had no idea of.
But how?
Aira clenched her jaw, remembering what Ango had told her; Dazai was responsible for bringing Shibusawa to Yokohama. It was because of him all of this was happening.
And she knew she was going to find him. Not only that, but she also was going to defeat her clone, arrive to the Skull Fortress and search for the answers.
"Come here, you little shit!" she yelled towards the hologram, who smiled at her.
Within a split second, it had appeared right beside her. It used her ability. Now she had exactly one minute before another time shift.
"You're not touching my forehead this time, you bitch!" Aira screamed, stabbing the clone into its stomach.
As the hologram took a step back, the crystal on its head glowed red and its wound regenerated.
"Forehead," Aira repeated quietly with a grin on her face.
The crystal was the source of its energy. Ripping it out would equal completely killing the doppelgÀnger.
Without further do, Aira launched at her copy, trying to shoot it straight into the middle of its head. Yet, unsuccessfully. The being speeded toward her, plunging one of its knives right into Aira's shoulder. With a loud growl, the woman pulled out the weapon, throwing it behind her.
As it was going to use the other knife, Aira kicked the hologram's chest, making it fall on its back.
"Your parents hated you! And Dazai's been manipulating you all this time!" she shouted cockily, grimacing at the burning sensation of her arm being wounded.
She knew the hologram wouldn't answer. Yet, what a satisfaction it was to yell those things out loud.
The being got up, completely unharmed. One minute had passed since it had used the ability, which meant that it was ready to strike again.
It was like a lighting had struck Aira as she realized what she needed to do in order to defeat it. Plucking up all of her courage, she grabbed onto her knife, making a run towards the clone. Just as expected, it turned back time, finding itself right behind Aira once again. Feeling its finger on her forehead, Razuki exhaled one last time before closing her eyes.
This time she was in front of the Medical School, holding the negative exam results.
"Oh, that’s so boring!" she yelled, snapping back into the reality but...
...only for a brief moment.
Next thing she knew was she was back in her parents house, but this time it was seven Port Mafia members. It was just before she massacred them all that night.
As she was about to scream, one of the agents laughed at her, taking out his gun.
"But if the memories come back, remember to just brush them away. They can't hurt you, they're just memories," Dazai's voice rang in her head.
She was back at the cemetery, her fists clenched.
"You could've told me your plan, you know?" she spitted with disgust in her tone, finding her way back to one of the Yokohama's roads.
Her clone was still standing behind her, holding a knife to her throat.
That was when she knew she had to risk it all in order to win.
"You know what, Aira?" she murmured, smiling to herself. "You think you're strong, but we’re both equally stupid," she added, feeling the knife slashing her throat wide open.
Beginning to choke as she bled, she felt the grip of the hologram loosen.
Four seconds.
It was the time.
With a swift, fast move of her wrist, she stabbed the being straight into its forehead, ripping the crimson crystal out.
Two seconds.
Unable to breath, Aira watched the body of the copy vanish away in the depths of the night. Placing her hand over her bleeding throat, she collapsed, almost feeling her soul leaving the body.
One second.
The hologram was gone. The crystal had been destroyed. The only thing that was left to do was for Aira to stop her from bleeding out.
And so she did.
Using the Time-master to turn her body back to the state it was four seconds ago, Aira exhaled unsteadily.
And just like nothing had happened a moment ago — she was back. The skin on her throat almost fully restored. The things that remained was the shallow cut of her neck and the wound going deep in her shoulder. They weren't lethal, however. Aira could've easily go on with them.
No.
She had to. She had no other choice than to go to the Skull Fortress and stop the mass murder that was about to happen.
Wasting no time, she picked herself up from the road. She needed some time to bring back her strength, but it was only the matter of time before she did so.
Opening the door of one of the abandoned cars, she smiled to herself, noticing the keys being still in place. She had to get to that building. Starting the engine, Aira began to drive towards the direction of her destination.
It was when she noticed how badly she was feeling mentally; she had no time to think about Dazai's betrayal before, but just now she realized how much anger and frustration she was holding within herself.
It was like someone had stabbed her right in the heart.
The only worse thing being the fact that Dazai had given her clues she didn't pick up on before. Starting from him not wanting to go to work, telling her how should she forget about her past and brush away her memories. It was all coming together just then. She wanted to scream at the top of her lungs. The ongoing lies, subtle hints, secrets. It made her wanting to hate him but...
...she couldn't.
She couldn't possibly hate the man, who brought a serial murderer to their town. She couldn't possibly hate the man, who lied to her at numerous occasions, despite her telling him not to hide anything from her.
He had to had a reason. A plan. A simple something that would explain his actions. Hence Dazai wasn't stupid... and Aira didn't believe he was evil as well.
Or maybe she simply didn't want to believe it.
"I'm going to beat the absolute shit out of him," she murmured, feeling the anger overwhelming her once again.
But then the road in front of her disappeared. And it most definitely wasn't because of the fog.
A ginormous red dragon had appeared in front of the Skull Fortress, wrapping its tail around the building. Although its head was far above in the sky, Aira could've sworn it had just made eye contact with her.
Not a moment after, she felt the car she was in being lifted in the air. Saying she wasn't terrified would be a straight up lie. If she was to hit the ground now, her bones would be completely crushed... but after all she could've used her ability to restore the condition of her body. Right?
That was why she impulsively grabbed the door handle, jumping off of the car. It was just like the time had stopped when she was falling down; feeling no ground under her feet, Aira saw nothing but blue-ish fog surrounding the whole area. She had no sense of gravity, all she was able to feel was the wind caused by her body speeding through the air. Just a moment before she landed, Aira caught a glimpse of a plane with a familiar man jumping out of it. She smirked to herself, noticing the red aura surrounding him. If Chuuya was going to fight the dragon, her comfort had certainly been increased. Now she was able to maintain the task she was given by Ango.
A few seconds before she was about to crash with the concrete roof of the Fortress, she had closed her eyes, retrieving her body and getting rid off every single trace of broken bones that was caused by the fall.
"Shit, that hurt like hell," she cursed out to herself, getting up from the cold ground.
Without thinking, she managed to find a window, she decided to break to get inside. Her blood was boiling at the thought of seeing Dazai. And yet, she didn't feel hatred. Just overwhelming frustration and disappointment towards him.
It didn't matter what was reasoning for all of this mess was, she couldn't possibly ignore the notion of her coworkers being exposed to something similar she went through. All of that because a certain man decided to improve his suicide technique.
But then the building shaken. Aira's senses were aware enough to see a huge piece of the ceiling ripping of and coming directly at her. She only realized she was in danger after it fell down, trapping her already wounded arm. First thing she wanted to do was to turn back time and prevent herself from getting hurt.
But then she thought about Chuuya, who had probably caused this; he was in the middle of the fight and with her using her ability, she would have made him repeat his attack once again.
Growling, she managed to get her arm free, however, turning back the state of the body didn't work — four seconds already had passed and she couldn't prevent her bones from their injury.
But the worst part was only about to come.
Not later after the ceiling incident, the whole Skull Fortress was being torn apart; pieces of the walls being destroyed, the floor having huge holes in it, making it impossible to walk through. It looked like the end of the world.
Breathing unsteadily, Aira realized how bad was the state of her body — her arm was broken and had been previously wounded by the knife. Her neck had a shallow yet visible scar, and she was bleeding from her side. On top of that, Aira could've sworn the bruises from her falling firstly — down the stairs, secondly — from the mid-air had just started to form.
Entirely exhausted, she didn't look where she was going. That was what caused her to fall through the hole in the ground, landing directly on one of her legs.
There was no way she was going to find Dazai both in the condition of herself and the building. There was no way she could help the others now.
Aira Razuki didn't cry often.
It was rare of her to show emotions different than anger. But during this time, she bursted our in tears, maniacally trying to stiffen her broken arm and manage her hurt leg.
She felt hopeless.
But she couldn't possibly give up. She needed to hear Dazai's explanations. She needed to find out why all of this was even going on.
Stumbling on her feet she slowly walked forward, her vision blurring. Yet, resting wasn't an option. She was determined to keep on going. After all, she had to.
It was Chuuya, who had made her hopes come back. Seeing where he had just landed, Aira speeded up, ignoring the physical pain she was experiencing.
Her whole body became paralyzed as soon as she saw two male figures on the horizon. She knew that the confrontation was about to come.
And it was what she feared the most. Discovering the truth she wasn't sure she could handle.
Taking out her pistol, she approached the silhouettes. Her left hand swayed by her bleeding side, entirely limp. One of her legs made it impossible for her to walk straight. Her face was covered in bruises, blood at the most recent tears that were starting to mix with the dirt that had covered her whole body.
But despite all of that, she managed to smile. Smile with all of the disgust and frustration she was holding within herself through all of that night. The forced grin widened even more when she saw Dazai, dressed in all white. He was sitting with his back facing her, completely unaware of her presence.
"Do you know why I always wear a burgundy coat?" she asked as soon as she was close enough.
"Aria?" he gasped, rapidly turning his face towards her.
He sounded completely shocked.
"Do you know?" she repeated, taking the safety off of her gun.
"You weren't supposed to be here. That's not what I predicted," he mumbled, his eyes wide open as he sat and held unconscious Chuuya in his lap.
"I wear it because the blood is the exact same color. You can't see me bleeding because of it," she continued, completely ignoring his terrified tone.
With her forced expression, she walked up to him, noticing the horror painted all over his face.
"And that makes me appear stronger to my opponent," she added, pointing a gun at him. "So? You were saying it was not what you've predicted, right?" Aira clenched her jaw, her finger traveling towards the trigger of her pistol.
"I thought you were going to help them," he whispered, glancing at the main part of the Fortress.
"You poor thing," she spitted out. "If it wasn't according to your plan, why the hell didn't you tell me about this?" she asked with anger, her hand resting steady on her gun.
Dazai didn't say anything. Instead, he lowered his gaze, looking completely discombobulated.
"Oh, you're not going to answer, are you?" Her voice was entirely venomous.
"It was to stop them, Aira," he replied quietly, and only now she noticed it was the first time she saw him so vulnerable.
"That doesn't explain a single fucking thing!" she yelled, feeling anger coming over her completely. "You've lied! Again! No more lies my ass! You're a goddamn liar, Dazai!" she ranted, watching him slowly get up.
"I couldn't tell you," he whispered, taking a few steps forward. "I couldn't risk getting you tangled up in all of this."
"Bullshit," Aira mumbled furiously, still pointing her gun at him. "I trusted you. I trusted you because I-I," she stopped herself, realizing she was about to fully confess her feelings towards him.
And it was the least appropriate thing in this moment.
"I'm... sorry," Dazai whispered, placing his hand over the front part of her pistol.
And yet, instead of lowering it, Aira gripped his palm with the fingers of her broken arm, hissing from the pain.
"What happened?" he asked, looking at her wounds.
"Don't act like you care just now," she replied, letting out a shaking breath. "You didn't predict Ango was going to call me and tell me about your involvement. You didn't predict that I was going to do everything to find you. Everything," she added, her eyes tearing up.
But she wasn't going to cry. Not when he was here.
"Why?"
Aira blinked rapidly.
"Why? Why?!" she repeated, shaking her head. "Because I love you, for god's sake!" she yelled, without ever thinking twice about her answer.
And, oh, how she regretted it at the moment.
"Why?" Dazai furrowed his brow, his confusion only deepening.
Aira's expression faded, leaving nothing but pure shock.
Why? Nothing more. Just a single word.
"Be-because," she stumbled on her own answer with her mouth open agape. "I-I'll be taking some time off of work," she changed the subject with her voice weak.
"Okay," he answered simply, watching her finally lower her gun.
"Okay," she repeated, not feeling her legs.
Hiding her gun behind her belt, she began walking back from where she came, hoping Dazai would stop her.
But he didn't. He didn't say anything. He didn't even move for a moment. Instead, he just stand there, watching her leave.
Finally being able to let her tears stream down her cheeks, Aira found a staircase on which she sat and covered her face with hands. Her sobs weren't loud. It was the complete opposite — quietly crying in the destroyed building, Aira let out all of her emotions. All of the sorrow, disappointment and the sound of the heart, entirely broken in pieces.
"My, my. It was like a finale of a soap opera." The male voice caused Aira to immediately look up.
After taking a glance at the person, the first thing she noticed was his clothes, similar to what Dazai was wearing that day. His dark hair were hidden under a fuzzy hat, completely not suitable for Yokohama's weather conditions.
And then she remembered Dazai saying them. He was going to stop them. It wasn't just him and Shibusawa. That meant the man standing in front of her was actually the other participant in the anticipated mass murder.
Without another thought, Aira stood up, taking out her pistol as she pointed it directly at the man.
"Oh, you really think that will help you?" the man lowered his tone, slowly approaching her.
The next thing she saw was only darkness.
~.~
White. The white ceiling above her was making her eyes burn.
Aira was laying on a bed under warm sheets. The pain form her injuries was almost completely gone, the only thing reminding her about it being the bandages wrapped around her arm, leg, head, and waist.
Inhaling loudly, Aira sat up, her expression fully petrified. She started reminding herself of the events leading up to the moment she met the man in white. A man that had walked up to her and hit her directly in the head.
Getting up from the unfamiliar bed, she found her coat on the hanger. She was still wearing her usual clothes, but her weapons weren't on their usual place. Taking a look at the room, she began searching for her pistols and knives in one of the dressers, knowing she wouldn't be able to defend herself without them.
What was going on? Why was she here? Was she kidnapped?
All of what Aira could've focused on was her missing things. The adrenaline kicked in, causing her survival instinct to room over her.
"If you're looking for your weapons, they're in the beside table's drawer," the male voice spoke, causing Aira to jump.
"What the hell am I doing here?" she rapidly asked, taking a few steps back.
"Oh, you wanted me to leave you unconscious in that fortress? What kind of a person would I have been to let a lady be alone in a place like that?" he answered, smiling as she hit the wall with her back.
She had nowhere to run to.
"First of all, it was you, who knocked me unconscious," she answered, completely changing her tone.
"Yeah, my bad. I might've hit you a bit too hard. Just thought you'd be useful," he smirked, placing his hands behind his back.
"Useful?" she repeated, shaking her head. "Who are you? What do you want from me?"
"Too much questions. I don't know which one to answer first," he replied, smiling mischievously.
Aira scoffed, slowly approaching the bedside table to get her weapons. The man didn't oppose, leading her to think he wasn't going to let her go easily. That's why she needed to come up with a plan sooner rather than later.
"Do you like cello?" he asked nonchalantly, sitting on the side of the bed.
She snorted, hiding her guns behind her belt.
"Villains are so predictable," she smirked, crossing her arms. "Zero answers and questions that make you feel off," she clarified, playing with her knife.
She was far pass the point of being terrified. Working at the Agency, she was used to people acting in the exact same way. And moreover, showing no fear made her appear confident. A thing men like her kidnapped hated the most.
"Now I'm sad Dazai didn't say I love you back," he chuckled, smiling even wider that before. "You're a peculiar woman, Miss Razuki."
"Oh, so that's what's going on," Aira let out a single giggle, furrowing her brow. "Manipulating me to help you with hurting him. Predictable," she whispered, watching him smirk.
"Not precisely," the man answered, standing up. "You didn't answer my previous question," he added, opening the door for her.
"I don't mind cello," Aira responded, walking out of the room. "So? How long was I unconscious?" she asked, putting on her coat.
"Three days," he answered nonchalantly, leading her towards another room with nothing but two chairs in it.
"Not so bad," she shrugged, sitting down to face him. "By the way, thanks for the hospitality," she added, pointing at the bandages he must have put on her.
"No problem," he smiled, placing a cello in front of him.
"And because of that I expect you to want something from me," Aira continued, lowering her head and placing it on her hand. "But don't tell me just now. I'm a detective, I want to deduce it myself," she added, watching him chuckle.
"I see why he likes you," the man stated as he started playing his instrument.
"But it's not only about him, is it?" Aira asked, crossing her arms. "Let's establish what we know. You're aware of my relationship with Dazai, you know I'm working in the Agency. And now, you'll probably kill me if I don't agree on your terms. Quite boring," Aira mumbled, biting her lip.
"It's far from boring," he answered, not stopping playing music.
"Inside information," she ignored him, smiling to herself. "You want to destroy the Agency, don't you?" she added.
"Not only the Agency," he replied in the same manner. "But you'll partially right. I will kill you if you don't help me," he chuckled.
"Care to elaborate?" Aira furrowed her brow, watching him play the cello.
"I need the information about the gifted," he explained briefly.
"Not happening," Aira murmured, watching him raising up one of his eyebrows. "What? Getting murdered is better than being a traitor," she added, getting up from her chair.
"That's naive of you to think that," he stated, glancing at her as she paced through the room.
"Maybe. But I don't even know your name and we're having a conversation about me betraying my coworkers. It's not reasonable as well," she replied, noticing him rolling his eyes.
"Fyodor Dostoevsky," he finally introduced himself, giving her no space to prove her point further.
"That explains that hat," she noted, pointing at the fuzzy white headpiece he was wearing.
"You sure are talkative for someone, who had just been kidnapped," Fyodor noticed, suddenly stopping playing.
"Maybe that proves you're just a shitty kidnapped," Aira shrugged, tucking her hands into the pockets of her coat.
Her palms started sweating. She couldn't risk him notice that she was already completely petrified.
~.~
Aira took another sip of her whiskey. Her eyes were puffy and red from crying that evening. After another two days of being held captive, she was finally being let free, hence the first thing she did was to get drunk as quickly as she could.
Fyodor told her part about his plan of starting a war between the Agency and the mafia. Infecting the two leaders with the virus that would made them utterly aggressive, he intended on destroying both of the organizations by letting them the choice of killing one of the leaders in order to save the other.
A sick game she was made to participate in.
Constantly consumed by fear, Aira kept her coolness, acting like nothing serious was happening. She agreed on Fyodor's conditions after she made him promise he wouldn't kill any of her coworkers himself. He gave her the choice of helping them after her part was completed. With him not being entirely involved, Aira still got the chance to protect the ones she cared about.
And yet still, the regret of giving Fyodor the information he wanted was killing her inside. She meant what she said the first time they talked — being a traitor was worse than any other punishment.
With her trembling hands she picked up the glass filled with the alcohol, emptying it on one breath. She couldn't help the tears that were streaming down her cheeks. Acting like everything was in the best order made her emotionally drained, and now she was simply letting her sorrows come out.
Fyodor's plan was about to start in one week. Considering his conditions, she couldn't return to the Agency's dorm, nor talk with anyone from her work. Being socially isolated from them was something what caused her to drink that night. On the other hand, a week was long enough to come up with a perfect schema of helping the best she could.
And yet, she wasn't used to this lifestyle. Not telling anyone about the dark secrets, not talking to anyone. She wondered if that's how Dazai felt most of the time. Finding herself in the situation similar to his made her more aware what he was going through all of this time.
How she wanted to hold him now. His warm embrace was the only thing that could've saved her from the depths of despair she was currently drowning in.
Exiting the kitchen to get another drink, she stopped in front of the police tape still located in the entrance of the living room.
For the past couple of days she was hiding in a place she didn't wish to return ever in her life. The place that brought back the memories of the unfortunate night.
Yet, it had surprised her how she didn't feel sorrow nor anger any longer. It was just pure tranquility that had filled her the moment she stepped her foot on the property she once called home.
With a sad smile, Aira realized she used to referred to the place as her parents' house, not hers. And still in the end, she used to live here, too. Describing the house that way was simply to separate herself from the massacre she took a part in.
But there was no escape now. The place that changed her completely was now her hideout. And she needed to come to terms with her own past, not only trying to forget about it.
"Cheers, Fyodor," she chuckled to herself, raising a glass of whiskey.
~.~
A week that was spent completely alone changed Aira more than she thought it possibly could. Having the time and place to reconsider her choices, regrets and failures was something she needed for a very long time.
But now, she was going to fulfill the last part of her contract with Fyodor Dostoevsky. Both the President and the leader of the Port Mafia were already infected with the virus, causing both of the organizations to investigate the causes of their sickness.
Now, the final day of Aira's betrayal was coming to its end. During which Fyodor ordered her to join him in one of the alleys, not explaining a single thing about his intention. He claimed that the situation was going to be self-explanatory to her, and with that her trial as being a spy would be completed.
Dressed as usual, Aira hid herself to be completely unnoticed by Fyodor's acquaintance, which she suspected to be Dazai. Why else would he want her to come with him? Dostoyevsky enjoyed sick games and manipulation. On top of that, Aira claimed the situation was going to be nothing but an experiment for him.
Just as expected — it was Dazai, who appeared in the other side of an alley. Wearing Fyodor's hat, he began the conversation. Aira noticed how her heart skipped a beat; it was the first time in almost two weeks that she saw him. And, oh, how she wanted to hear his voice.
But the conversation took a darker turn that she anticipated — Fyodor and Osamu started talking about the book the Russian was searching for. They discussed about him destroying the Agency and the Port Mafia as Dazai claimed he would probably do the same as him.
But then...
...a sniper shoot Dazai right above his stomach.
Aira covered her mouth with her hand to prevent herself from screaming. Of course Fyodor would've broken his promise. That was to be excepted. But Dazai had to know that the sniper was going to be there. He had to know Fyodor wasn't going to kill him just then.
And that's what when it struck her.
He brought her here to watch Dazai getting shot. Not to reveal his plan to her but to simply manipulate her enough to crush her psyche.
"Yes. I'll be using this book to create a world without sin... without gifted," Fyodor answered Osamu with a small smile on his face.
"You've promised not to hurt him," Aira spoke slowly, exiting her hiding. Her appearance was met with Dazai rapidly turning her head towards her. He tried to mask his fear, yet his eyes betrayed him.
"And you've agreed on not interfering. I guess we're even now," Fyodor chuckled, watching the expression of both Dazai and Razuki.
"Why is she here?" Osamu asked, covering his wound with the palm of his hand.
"Oh," Aira gasped, finally realizing what was going on.
"Average people are so fun to watch," he added, noticing her sudden change of face mimic. "You finally know why I needed you, right?" he asked nonchalantly.
"Shock value," Aira whispered, pointing slowly at Dazai.
Fyodor didn't need her to tell him about the others' abilities. He didn't her to be a spy.
He needed her to mentally destroy Dazai.
"He's going to survive. I'll still be needing him," Fyodor started as Aira noticed where this was going. "You, on the other hand."
Without thinking, Aira tried to grab her gun, yet Fyodor was quick to take it from her, pulling the trigger within a split second.
She didn't fully comprehend what was going on when Fyodor disappeared from the alley and she fell down on her back with a gunshot wound in her chest.
She watched Dazai kneeling down next to her, trying to stop her bleeding as he was saying something. Yet, the only thing she could hear was the notorious sound of her gun being fired over and over again in her head.
"...Aira, you're going to be alright," Osamu breathed heavily, his expression entirely terrified.
He didn't believe what he was saying.
"You... wanna know why I wear... my burgundy coat?" Aira managed to ask with the rest of her strength.
"Shh," he murmured panicked, placing her head on his knees.
Was it going to be just like with Oda?
"Because... the blood..," Aira tried to finish her sentence, yet she felt her eyes subconsciously closing.
"I know, I know. Just save your strength," he mumbled, one of his hands placed over her wound, the other stroking her head.
"I'm sorry," she responded, her head feeling heavy.
"Aira, don't close your eyes," she could hear him saying. "Aira!"
"Double... suicide, huh?" she tried to chuckle, yet instead of a giggle only blood had escaped her mouth.
As she saw nothing but darkness for the second time during the past couple of weeks, she smiled weakly.
If she was going to die, at least it was Dazai, who was there with her.

Persephone | John Wick x Reader (Eight)
Words: 2535
Warning: Usual JW-verse, tension
Previously: As a result of your meeting with Abram Tarasov, you agree to look into the Sokolovs who Abram suspects are receiving help from someone associated with the High Table. If you deal with the problem, he’ll agree to aid you. Memories reveal that the Instructor was aware of your eventual betrayal and had sent someone to steal information from you.
-
One month ago
Gavriil Sokolov didn’t have much to his name. He inherited the role as the leader of the Sokolov family and mob when his father passed, but he had no idea what he was doing. He knew that. Everyone else knew that.
The Sokolov household was an equivalent to vassals compared to the bigger houses like Tarasov. After way too many times of being used and discarded and dismissed by the other Russian houses, and his people doubting his leadership skills, Gavriil decided he had enough. He was going to rebuild the Sokolov mob and make it stronger than ever. To do that, he would have to aim high, higher than what anyone thought he’d be capable of.
Rozaliya Romanova was a hard woman to find, but he managed to do so. She ran an exclusive underground Russian club in San Francisco, California, called Astraea, and his contact managed to strike a deal for him to meet her at said location.
Dark corners, costumed dancers, brick walls, and stage shows. Gavriil had never been to such clubs before. He wasn’t like that idiot Iosef Tarasov. He had it coming when he messed with John Wick. But now that the Boogeyman is out and about, who knows whether he will get in the way of Gavriil’s plans.
Gavriil was led into a private room on the second floor of the building where half of the walls were painted black and a large wide window overlooked the club. He walked over to the long glowing fish tank and tapped the glass while three security guards stationed themselves by the door.
A door hidden within the wall opened, revealing a tall blonde woman in a red and white suit striding in, her red high heels clacking along the floor. She whipped her hair over her shoulder and sat on one of the black leather couches. She gestured to the couch next to her and leaned back, crossing her legs.
“Want anything to drink?” Rozaliya asked once Gavriil was seated.
He straightened himself out and nodded. “Sure, why not?”
She gestured for one of the guards to let a waiter in. He carried over a bottle of vodka along with two glasses on a tray, then left. “I heard you wanted to speak to me? Why?”
“Yes, I heard you can be quite resourceful,” he said.
She laughed. “Anyone can be resourceful, but you want something more, don’t you? What makes you think I’ll help you, Gavriil Sokolov? You and your small family that seems to be getting smaller by the month. I have this,” she waves her hands towards the club, “What can you bring?”
Gavriil smiled, pulling out an envelope from his jacket pocket. The guards stiffened, but Rozaliya held a hand out to stop them. Gavriil handed the envelope to her and leaned back. Her blue eyes flickered across his features, then back at the envelope. She took out a knife from her pocket and ripped it open, reading the contents with a careful eye.
“How did you get this?” she inquired.
Gavriil smirked. “I did some digging. This system that we’re in favors the few that live on top while they use the rest of us like pawns. Even then, they still fight amongst each other for more power. That document is one of the few evidence that exist that proves that your father had been murdered for his seat.”
“And?” She cocked an eyebrow. “Murder for a seat on the Table has been done many times. You didn’t see anyone from the Table looking into it when Gianna Santino was murdered.”
“And, while John Wick had destroyed most of the blackmail material that Viggo Tarasov had on other families,” Gavriil paused to pour the glasses for her and himself, “My men may have found that one or two of those materials had been hidden somewhere else. Now that Tarasov had been weakened, it didn’t take much to retrieve them. With Tarasov falling apart and an unqualified leader that stole your father’s seat, I figured that a new family should rise above the old ones, don’t you? How long has the same families have been controlling everything?”
Rozaliya pursed her lips. “I see,” she said slowly.
Who was he to speak of falling power and unqualified leadership? Does he even know who he was talking to? He doesn’t even know what his own father had done when he was the leader of the Sokolov house. At least Rozaliya had been more involved when her father was still around. She knew how the Underworld worked, and if he were to suggest new leadership, it wouldn’t be as simple as overpowering the old line, it would have to be better.
If only she got word from her old friend soon.
But she supposed that the only way to keep an eye on this Gavriil Sokolov before he did anything reckless, she would have to go along with it.
“So, you take over the other families, including Tarasov, and I take the seat on the Table?” Rozaliya presumed, playing with the glass in her hand.
Gavriil nodded with a grin. He held out his glass towards her. “Exactly.”
She paused for a moment, then smiled, clinking her glass with his. He downed the drink and slammed the glass down. She finished hers and got up, leading him towards the door.
“We’ll be in contact, then, Mr. Sokolov,” she said, holding a hand out.
“Please, call me Gavriil,” he said, shaking her hand firmly.
Rozaliya simply sniffed and gave him over to the guards to lead him out, but held one back. She waited until they were downstairs before turning to the guard. “Yevgeni, let me know when word of Persephone’s whereabouts get out,” she ordered.
-
You were back in that elaborate apartment. This time, you were sitting comfortably in one of the rooms while skimming through a copy of The Double by Fyodor Dostevsky. The blonde woman came over with a mug of coffee for you along with a plate of sweets. The chair across from you was suddenly occupied with a woman with mousy brown hair. She looked older, her features sharper, and laugh lines evident on her face.
“So what else can you tell me about my parents?” you asked the older woman.
A cup of tea was set in front of her as she hummed. “Well, they were kind-hearted. Too kind-hearted. But your father needed the money. While honor should be a staple trait within the Underworld, there were many that got away with not using it,” she said, “I wanted to help them. I knew that Ophelia owed a favor to my daughter, and so long as she honored it, your family could be free.”
You frowned, putting the book down and straightening out. Her daughter sat next to you with a cookie and her own cup of tea. You turned to her and asked, “So what was the favor?”
“It was simply to let you leave the Theater with no conditions,” she said, “your parents were technically out of debt the moment they gave you over to the Instructor and her Theater, but she still had a hold on them while you were still under her. Letting you go will get rid of your family’s ties with her.”
“And why did you two wanted to help me and my family?”
They exchanged a look and smiled softly. “They’re our friends,” the older woman said, “We may be a part of this Underworld, but we still have rules and standards to who we associate with. To show mercy is to show strength, to show kindness is to show bravery; that’s what they reminded us. They needed help, and we wanted to help them under someone who will honor their word.”
She leaned forward and reached out her hand. You weren’t sure how to respond, looking over at her daughter again. She nodded, indicating for you to do the same. You reached out until she could encase her thing hands over yours.
“We will help you in any way we can. You need only to reach out.” She pressed a small pink star pendant into your palm.
-
You considered your meeting with Abram Tarasov to be a success, but John was still wary of it. He had heard of the sudden spike of activities from Sokolov, but they weren’t something to be concerned about at the time. He was too busy running for his life while every assassin in the world wanted to kill him.
After much thought, you decided to confide John with the flashes of memories that occur here and there, either through dreams, an action, or even a phrase. From the latest memory, it seemed that the target that Ophelia had assigned you to was someone you had grown to trust. The woman and her mother knew your parents and were willing to help your family get out of the Underworld. You wondered what had happened that led to Ophelia to order to put a target on your parents’ head after all those years.
You had been going through the batch of weapons that Caius had sent in, well, you were staring at John who would handle, disassemble, and reassemble them in rapid succession, when one of the Bowery Boys notified you about a potential contact coming in later in the day. You nodded at him and turned back to John who handed you the gun he had finished assembling. There was a hint of playfulness as he checked his watch, readying to time you.
The gun was fairly light and small enough to conceal under clothing or a bag. You had gone through the movements that John had done in your head, then nodded to yourself. Shouldn’t be too hard.
“Ready?” John taunted.
“Of course,” you said quickly, widening your stance while you placed the gun on the table.
He gave you the signal and you immediately picked up the gun again, holding the gun with two hands as if aiming before drawing it closer to your chest. You then reloaded the gun and aimed again, pointing the barrel at John with narrowed eyes. He smirked, but said nothing. You took out the clip and began to take the gun apart, laying each piece out, before working to assemble it again. You were so focused that you didn’t pay attention to John’s movements.
You felt one of his hands reach around you and wrapped around your neck, but didn’t squeeze. He leaned closer to you. “You’re going to have to work faster than that,” he whispered.
“Squeeze harder and maybe I will,” you teased. You were just about finished when he did squeeze.
John could feel you swallow under his palm, your pulse racing under his thumb. “There’s one piece left. You’re slacking.” You grabbed the last piece from the table and finished the gun, placing it down. “Good girl.”
You shivered. “I hope you realize how lucky you are that you’re the only person who can get away with calling me that,” you muttered, turning around to glare at him.
He smirked, backing you up against the table. “You think you can take me on?”
“I know I can. I was trained to kill you, remember?”
“Oh, yeah, that.”
“Yup.”
“You want to have a go right now?”
That made you snort. “Don’t tempt me, Jonathan.”
“I’m glad I’m a temptation to you,” he said, pressing his forehead on yours.
Before you could give a retort, another Bowery Boy popped their head into the room. “Um, the Bowery King said the contact will be brought to the throne room. So
 when you’re done with
all of whatever you guys are doing, meet him there,” he said, looking between you and John, then walked off.
-
You stood between John and the Bowery King as the Bowery Boys led a stout man in a simple fitted suit with some kind of star symbol on his lapel over with a bag over his head. The man had been seen actively seeking out the Bowery King, slipping gold coins to any Bowery Boy he could find. The Bowery King relented, making sure that the location of the Soup Kitchen were hidden before agreeing to meet him.
The man was sat down in a wooden chair with his arms tied behind him. When the Bowery King was satisfied that the situation could be held under control, he sat down on his throne across from the man and motioned for one of his Boys to take the bag off of him. John remained by your side, observing the man with sharp eyes.
“You know the drill, state your name and business,” The Bowery King said.
“I am Yevgeni and I have been assigned to search for the whereabouts of Persephone. I’m one of the contacts,” he stated, his eyes drifting from the Bowery King to you. “Rose sent me.”
The Bowery King raised his eyebrows and looked over to you. “This is Yevgeni?” he asked.
You stepped forward, squeezing John’s hand in reassurance when he went to grab you, and looked the man over. You remember the face, an unfortunate resting frown, a bald head, and a rose tattoo on his neck. Even the star pendant looked familiar.
“What does mercy show?” you tested him.
“Strength,” he answered firmly.
“What does kindness show?”
“Bravery.”
You looked up at John who eased up a little. “Rose, your boss, what does she look like?”
“Tall. Blonde. Likes red and pink. She had retrieved information you found over the years and kept it safe,” he said, nodding over to the suitcase that one of the Bowery Boys confiscated from him.
They took it to the side to inspect it, then deemed it safe. Yevgeni told them the code and they went to work on opening it. They opened it for you, revealing a pink star pendant on top of a few bundles of documents. You picked up the pendant, tracing a finger over the pattern, then placed it back in the suitcase.
“Okay,” you said, “Why did she send you?”
“There are things that you need to know, events that transpired during those five years that you were away. The information should be with the rest of the documents. That was all she wanted me to do until you choose to contact her.”
When you were done with your questioning, the Bowery Boys took him back to their initial meeting spot, leading him through the buildings and the streets with the bag over his head. You promised to go over the documents with the Bowery King, taking the pendant and the note from Rose with you to your room.
“John, who’s the Russian family that sits on the Table?” you asked him.
“Romanova, why?” John walked over to you, silently asking to read the note.
You handed it over to him. His eyes widened as he neared the end of the note. “This could make things easier or harder for us,” he said.
Your lips were drawn into a thin line. “I know.”
At the bottom of the note, signed with a flourish, was Rosaliya Romanova’s name.

BSD Dead Apple Spoilers
There is nothing here but MAJOR MAJOR spoilers, as in the plot summary, in detail as much as possible. Some points are already on @looking-for-stray-dogs post so I decided not to delve into them anymore. ((Gosh Lea and I talked about this for probably more than 2 hrs, making notes and the outline lol, until the restaurant finally told us to go home))
You’ve been warned so if you don’t want any of that, then don’t read this post. Also this is a fan report and is not 100% accurate. Bear with my human memory ability
Also, excuse my grammar, I can’t English damn it I’m tired
Bias - ofc everyone has their own. I have favorites so I might have focused more on some characters, but I did try to report this as objectively as I can. I put comments/feelings tho in some parts I found hard to narrate/describe like action scenes. And yes, I’m a Soukoku shipper but I tried to keep it low here, I’ll make a separate post for them for the sake of people who don’t want to read too much feels here. Also, my Japanese is far from perfect so I may have missed some or a lot of details, especially with Fyodor, Shibusawa, Fukuzawa, and Chuuya’s language.
Lastly, PLEASE DO SUPPORT THE MOVIE in any possible legal way you can. I’ve felt how much the staff put so much work on this movie, how they love it so much, and how they present it as a gift to everyone. The BSD fandom is not big, but we have been blessed to actually have this, because Asagiri believes we deserve more than a compilation film, and because Kadokawa and Bones are willing to produce this thing.
If it will be showing in your country, please, please do make sure to watch it. If not, then please buy official goods. And yeah do continue bugging Crunchyroll or anyone else
Tumblr media
Actual Toho Cinemas, Ueno as seen from the Port Mafia Family Official art
So the movie will make you cry just by the first scene because the first character to appear on the big screen was
 Odasaku.
It’s the event from 6 years ago, specifically the night before the end of the 88-day Dragon Head Dispute. Oda looks at the mess before him - dead ability users lying on the ground anywhere he looked. He hears a cry out of the blue, and goes to discover an alive child crying in the middle of her dead parents. The girl is Sakura, one of the orphans in the Dark era.
Dazai communicates with Oda thru a transmitter warning him to get away from where he is because it’ll be soon dangerous there.
Chuuya arrives on the scene, driving his motorcycle, when one of the enemies appears and chases him with an ability akin to lightning. So Chuuya gracefully maneuvers his motor around the building walls with his ability. He finally reaches the enemy’s base where Dazai is held hostage. Dazai complains that Chuuya is five minutes late, then goes to kick the enemy who’s pointing a gun at his head He also gets himself free from the shackles without any help. Soukoku starts bickering but Dazai says that the one Chuuya will kill isn’t him. The enemy surrounds them,
C: The garbage is piling up.
D: Hurry up and finish this.
Chuuya activates his ability and then there’s an explosion after, then cuts to the scene where Soukoku just walks away like nothing (RIP Chuuya bike)
Note: He didn’t use Corruption nor did he touch anyone, but apparently For the Tainted Sorrow also works that way.
Soukoku then found Shibusawa who was tediously chanting, “I will obtain it, I will not”, repeatedly while seemingly counting gemstones. He says there is something he wants but even with all the people who got killed, he still couldn’t get a hold of it or they couldn’t give him what he wants.
Chuuya angrily scowls, “Bring back my comrades.”
Shibusawa just shrugs saying that they all committed suicide, and boring people are still boring even on the point of dying. To this, Chuuya gets very angry because it’s as if his men died for nothing. Red marks start to appear on his skin, signaling Corruption getting activated but he didn’t have to say the chant. He told Dazai not to stop him, and so Dazai just backs off, “Oh, Corruption, huh?”
Then explosion again, and so we didn’t know what happened after. Beautiful Fyodor is seen on top of a building commenting that they’re having so much fun.
BSD Opening - Deadly drive YEESSSS anyway the graphics are soooo good and beautiful
Back to present time
Atsushi goes to find Dazai on a graveyard, sitting on the back of a tombstone, his head lying on top of it. Atsushi comments that it’s his first time seeing Dazai visiting/paying respect to a grave so he assumes that the person is someone important to Dazai. The tombstone is then revealed to be labeled, “S. ODA” Flashback to the Dark era scene of Oda dying when he advises Dazai to go to the side that saves people. ((Ok I didn’t need a flashback of this scene on a big screen damn it my poor heart))
Innocent Atsushi: By any chance, is it the person Dazai-san likes?
D: If it’s a girl that I liked, then I could’ve gone on a double suicide with her.
A: Ah, yeah, if it’s Dazai-san that would be it.
D: Did you say something?
A: Ah, no, nothing.
D: It was my friend. The one responsible for me quitting the Mafia and joining the Agency. If not for him, then maybe I’d still be in the Mafia killing people up to now. Anyway, Kunikida sent you to look for me, right?
A: Yes. There’ll be an important meeting today.
D: Pa-ss. I just found a new method to commit suicide and will go try it.
A: Eh? Again?
ADA Meeting
Kunikida explains the mysterious case of ability users dying of their own abilities around the world (as seen in the PV)
The person behind it is revealed to be Shibusawa Tatsuhiko, who is now starting to move in Yokohama. Something struck Atsushi when he sees Shibusawa’s photo and hears his name - he sees a closed door somewhere in his mind, but chooses to ignore it knowing nothing at the moment.
Fukuzawa orders the Agency to do everything to stop this/Shibusawa.
After that, Kunikida and Tanizaki is seen on the Port going out to meet someone. Worried Tanizaki talks about the ability users’ suicide incident, then they see the man they’re supposed to meet lying on the ground, already dead as Kunikida checked his pulse. On the crime scene, they discovered a knife stabbed on an apple.
Bar Lupin
Dazai sits on the bar alone with two glasses, one for him, and one with the flower on it. “Today what will we toast for?” He reminisces about a time when he talks with Oda about “apple suicide” cases. Oda doesn’t know about it then he guesses it’s like from Cinderella. And Dazai was just like, “Ow, I didn’t expect that answer. Odasaku is really interesting.” He then remembers the poisoned apple story of Snow White, and proceeds to consider that Snow White’s case was actually a suicide. snow white could’ve known that the apple is poisoned but she still took it anyway. Dazai then shares that he actually found an interesting ability user recently who’s making people commit apple suicides. He says that suicide getting popular in Yokohama would be great, with a lovely smile on his face. Odasaku comments that Dazai is indeed interesting. Dazai replies, “Not as much as you.”
Back to the present, Dazai says that Odasaku is actually right, that the side that saves people is indeed better
if only one would continue living. Then he swallows the pill.
“Well then, I’ll go for now, Odasaku.”
He leaves the drinks on the counter untouched, and leaves the bar, a stabbed apple revealed on the counter.
Outside the bar Ango appears to capture Dazai, saying that the one who called Shibusawa to go to Yokohama is Dazai. Dazai smirks (the Mafia smirk), “Do you think you can actually capture me?” Shibusawa shadow appears on Ango’s back and then the Mist (as seen in the PV).
ADA Dorm
Atsushi dreams of the door he saw earlier and a strange mist appearing, then he wakes up.
Kyouka goes to check on him (they’re actually sleeping in one room with Kyouka on the futon while Atsushi inside the closet (smth like Doraemon).
When they opened the window, they discovered that the mist is already spreading. They head to the Agency Office as Kyouka demanded over anxious Atsushi.
On the way
They discovered that the whole city is in a mess, cars everywhere on the streets, but no signs of people, as if everyone disappeared.
Kyouka sensed a strong bloodlust and when they looked for it, they found the white tiger. they called their abilities but to their surprise, they did not activate and so they ran for their lives. Atsushi trips on something, which is then revealed to be Kunikida, injured by a shot on his side. Kunikida says that he found out the cause of the suicide cases. But first, they managed to escape from the tiger.
Kunikida then explains that he got hit by his own ability, and that ability users did not commit suicide rather they got killed by their own abilities. Demon Snow appears all of a sudden chasing them. Kyouka manages to get them a car and they drove all the way to the Agency Office.
Agency Office
Kunikida reveals a communication device beneath the floor under the President’s table, which connects them to Ango. Ango explains the situation, revealing the castle where Shibusawa is supposedly in, and adds that Dazai is also there. He entrusts the agency the mission to capture Shibusawa and that he will not question whatever methods they use. Communication gets cut off. Kunikida’s ability arrives to wreak havoc at the Agency. Kunikida gives Atsushi a weapon while Kyouka refuses since she has her sword. Kunikida tells them to run away while he goes to fight his own Ability.
It was also shown here that the other Agency members are fighting their own Abilities. Kenji’s ability is throwing him cars and hitting him with the street signs, Tanizaki being strangled by Light Snow from behind, Yosano fighting with her big weapon and Fukuzawa sword fighting.
Special Ability Department
Ango commands his subordinate to call Ability user 5058 telling him to return his debt.
White trio in the castle
First scene revealing that this three are “working together” but they all know from the start that they do not trust one another. Interesting exchanges.
More on Lea’s post
Back on the Streets
Kyouka and Atsushi are in the car again. Atsushi’s worrying about a lot of things, but Kyouka is calm and tells him to focus on the mission at hand. Atsushi believes that capturing Shibusawa is enough, because no matter how bad someone is, there is no need to kill.
Demon Snow then appears, slicing the car roof, and so Kyouka and Atsushi ran off again. Kyouka fights Demon Snow with her sword. Atsushi tries shooting but fails to do so in time with the gun safety. Out of nowhere, Akutagawa gets thrown into the situation (like literally), stopping Demon Snow in the process. The three were then faced with their respective Abilities.
Rashomon and the tiger end up fighting anyway, so they used the chance to escape. Kyouka fights against Demon Snow, while instructing the two to enter a Mafia secret passage somewhere nearby. Atsushi hesitates to go with Aku, but Kyouka insists that he go. Atsushi complies.
Passage
They entered the elevator in time before Demon Snow catches up. Aku explains that not even the mist can get through that elevator. They then shared information. Aku says that the way to have their ability back is to beat their own. They also learned that they have the same motive: Shibusawa Tatsuhiko. Aku says that he will kill him, because there is no other way to save Yokohama. Atsushi argues that the Agency doesn’t do such kind of job. Aku says that Kyouka can understand the situation they are in. Kyouka defends that the Agency and the Mafia have different ways of killing.
revealing that Dazai went to the enemy’s side out of own will. Atsushi refuses to believe, “Dazai-san will not do such a thing!” But Aku says that that Dazai is also the one who was part of the Mafia before but abandoned it. “I will be the one to kill Dazai-san.” “I won’t let you do that! *points gun at Aku*” Elevator stops and opens. Aku gets out, while Atsushi says that they will not follow him. But Kyouka demands that they do, so they did.
White Trio - Draconia
Shibusawa presents Draconia to Fyodor and Dazai, his collection of abilities in crystal forms. (Again refer to Lea’s post with the nyaaa and the “do you have friends” lol))
Shibusawa: Do you think there is a single person out there who can beat his own ability?
Fight against their abilities
Atsushi, Aku, and Kyouka fight their abilities separately. The fight with Rashomon was particularly impressive to me, showing how Aku knows his ability well, and how good he is at making strategies. For Kyouka’s fight, refer to Lea’s post again. ((Anyway Kyouka’s mom is a goddess OMG)) Atsushi had to help Kyouka in the middle because she was emotionally hit and needed a second to get a hold of herself, before she beats the Demon Snow in a bad-ass way yayy. Atsushi then somehow beats his own ability too. Anyway the way to beat the ability is to crush the crystal, which is most of the time found on the ability’s forehead. Aku and Kyouka got their abilities back, but Atsushi doesn’t even when he already beat it. “Why?” “Fool! You still don’t know??” “Akutagawa! What do you mean by that?” But Aku doesn’t tell him. Kyouka tells Atsushi to stay there and take a rest as she goes to fulfill their mission.
Special Ability Department
Agent 5158 revealed to be Chuuya. Ango and Chuuya talked about paying debts with Chuuya arguing that it is Ango who has a debt. It’s about what happened 6 years ago. Shibusawa was an important ability user so the government spared his life to be used for something (I didn’t understand), but Ango defends that it’s all for the city’s sake/peace. Chuuya gets angry (well he’s been angry since earlier), and lifts Ango on his collar saying that if not for what happened then his comrades, particularly 6 men, would have still been alive. At the end of the day though, Chuuya accepts Ango’s request to help them in the current situation. In exchange, he will have Ango’s life.
White Trio - Betrayal scenes
Again refer to Lea’s post. This is indeed the start of the movie’s climax - Dazai “dies”,  revelation of Shibusawa’s story, and the ever-beautiful Crime and Punishment scene (which unfortunately I didn’t understand for the most part omg Fyodor)
Shibusawa and Atsushi
Atsushi faces the door earlier, the one that flashed on his mind when mentioned about Shibusawa. When he was able to open it, his memories came to him. Shibusawa also remembers at the time being, as Fyodor sliced his throat and he remembers that dying was a familiar feeling to him. They both watch the scene unfold before them.
Inside the room was a young Atsushi tied on a chair. Shibusawa wants to obtain Atsushi’s ability, because there’s something special about it, but he couldn’t get it in a normal way that he did with everyone. He electrocutes him, until Atsushi’s ability in the form of crystal gets out of his body. However, before Shibusawa could get a hold of it, the tiger goes berserk and manages to free himself then eats the crystal. He then kills Shibusawa with his nails scratching his face.
So yeah, Shibusawa actually died some years ago. When that happened is something we do not know. But his ability still continued to live on so he was risen from the dead (by Fyodor?) Anyway, the skull on top of the apples is actually Shibusawa’s.
Dragon Appears
The dragon was formed from the vortex earlier (white trio scene on Lea’s post), and something that Fyodor did with the Crime and Punishment thing, and then “dead” Dazai also joins the vortex. For your imagination, the Dragon is something that resembles Shenron of Dragon Ball Z. So yeah it’s really big, but this one is red-orange in color.
Dragon vs Chuuya
Chuuya is seen heading out of a plane to go and fight the dragon. Chuuya starts removing his gloves. ((Okay this is no way in verbatim))
Ango: Chuuya-kun, are you sure about this? You still haven’t gotten the end of the deal about my life
Chuuya: Don’t think too highly of yourself
A: Dazai-kun is nowhere to be found. You understand what this means
C: That stupid Dazai is there. I’m sure of that. And I’d feel bad if I don’t go punch him
Tsujimura also appears from the back of the plane, stopping Chuuya.
T: This is impossible. Ability users are humans, the one you’re facing against is a monster!
C: That isn’t a reason to get scared and back out. Do you know of a time to get scared and back out?
T: I don’t.
C: Never. There’s never a time.
Then he jumps off the plane, activating Corruption with the chant.
Okay. Okay. I can’t breathe lol. Here goes bias reporting because this scene is just so fantastically spectacular in a magnificent way wth my adjectives don’t give justice. But I honestly felt like the proudest person on earth because finally Chuuya gets the screen time he deserves. A hero, willing to die to save the city. I’ve always loved Bones’ animation and graphics with BSD and srsly this scene WHOA. Also lots of screaming from Taniyama Kishou yassss
The dragon threw fire from its mouth while Chuuya threw rocks and blackholes. And when they faced head-on, Chuuya hit the dragon’s head repeatedly with a whole building, damn it gravity manipulation is such a coooooool ability. Chuuya shoves the whole building into the Dragon’s mouth and he goes inside along with it. One final beautiful scream and Corruption finally destroys the whole dragon.
The Soukoku scene
It is then revealed that Dazai was inside the Dragon. Chuuya found him and he did punch him (he’s still in Corruption form and was basically growling at Dazai). Chuuya was already coughing out blood though. They were floating and falling from the sky now. Dazai who was supposedly dead got awoken by Chuuya’s punch, and the pill he took earlier, which is apparently an antidote against the poison from the knife, was on his mouth and then it took effect.
So Dazai was alive and saw Chuuya before him so he reached for him, touching Chuuya’s cheek to nullify Corruption.
Dazai: You believed in me and used Corruption? I’m so touched I could cry.
Chuuya: Yeah, I did. I believed in your cunning schemes and shitty inability to die.
Dazai: Isn’t your way of waking up Snow White a bit violent?
Chuuya: Shut up. You’re the one who anticipated getting punched by putting that antidote in your mouth.
Then they finally fell on the ground. Dazai fell with his butt first, basically sitting on the ground, then Chuuya falls in between Dazai’s legs with his face a few inches away from Dazai’s right thigh. Dazai is holding the back of Chuuya’s head and Chuuya complains, “Let go!” but Dazai said, “Don’t move”, because the enemy is still out there somewhere. They bickered some more, until Chuuya finally lost his consciousness, head falling on Dazai. Dazai stays still, saying that he has predicted everything that would happen up to that point. But it will most likely just be the start from here on. But it is their turn now.
The Last Battle - Shibusawa vs Atsushi + Aku + Kyouka
Fyodor places a crystal on Shibusawa’s skull which then resurrects him again, and he’s in a monster-like form now. Aku appears in front of him, revealing that he’s an ability user who was able to regain his ability. Shibu is quite impressed. Kyouka then appears next.
Sometime there Agatha Christie also appears telling Ango via a transmitter that she sent troops to assist in the battle
Kyouka claims that Aku and she aren’t the only ones who were able to win against their abilities. Fukuzawa and Mori are shown somewhere in Yokohama fighting their own abilities. Mori is getting frustrated because cute Elise is fighting him. “What a coincidence, Mori-sensei,” Fukuzawa says when they meet back-to-back against their abilities. One single move after, Fukuzawa slashes Elise’s crystal while Mori shoots the crystal on Fukuzawa’s personified ability. So basically, they beat each other’s abilities. ((Hmm, so apparently it’s fine even if you’re not the one who beat your own))
Back to Atsushi, who is still trying to come to terms with himself and the tiger. He was feeling bad about using his claws to kill Shibu. The tiger appears behind him. He realizes that no matter what he does, where he goes, the tiger always follows him. He thinks that it is akin to his heart that keeps beating without stopping. He comes to realize that the tiger is not his ability, but his strong will to continue living. He then calls on the tiger to come to him.
Meanwhile Aku and Kyouka were having a hard time battling against Shibu, until Atsushi appears out of nowhere, transformed in half-tiger state. Shibu is glad saying, “Will you kill me again, Nakajima Atsushi-kun?” Kyouka is shocked at what she heard. Atsushi only responds, “I just have to bring back a thing where it’s supposed to be.” The three fight against Shibusawa, and they conclude that they have to join forces to be able to beat him. Sometime in the middle, Demon Snow gets beaten and disappears, and didn’t appear again when Kyouka called again. In their last attack, Atsushi encourages her to pull herself together and believe that the Demon Snow that she doesn’t want to hate will surely respond to her feelings. She calls on to her ability again and it did appear, pinning Shibusawa on the ground with the sword. Atsushi calls Aku, and Aku yells, “Don’t order me around!” Rashomon makes a big sphere where Shibusawa and Atsushi get trapped to battle (for Shibu not to escape). Atsushi hits Shibu quickly and repeatedly, and while it is clear that he gets hurt, he manages to use his ability to try to collect Atsushi’s ability. The crystal came out of Atsushi, but before Shibu could reach it, Atsushi grabs it shouting, “This is not my ability. This is me!” Atsushi gives the final blows, and Shibu concludes that he finally realizes the reason why he still existed, the reason why he met Atsushi, and what Dazai meant when he said he needs saving. And so it was Atsushi who is the angel who finally saves him. Atsushi crushes his skull and so Shibusawa finally dies, for real.
Aftermath
The sun rises. Dazai appears from behind and tries to explain, but Atsushi cuts him off saying that Dazai is only trying to save the city.
D: Do you see me as a good person who’d actually do that?
Innocent Atsushi: I do.
Kyouka: Are you really okay with what happened? (killing Shibusawa)
A: Yes. I am proud that we were able to protect the city, and being able to live on with Kyouka-chan and everyone, that is so much more wonderful. (as per Lea’s post, this is exactly in reference to Oda’s words)
The Agency members also appear to reunite with them and Atsushi is happy.
A: I see, everyone looks fine.
D: Of course, We’re the Armed Detective Agency after all.
Meanwhile, Chuuya is sitting somewhere in the ruins and sees Akutagawa who just looks at him. He tells him that if he’s looking for Dazai then the bastard is fine. Aku just bows and starts to walk away. Chuuya calls him smiling, “Lend me a shoulder!”
Fyodor - on top of a building again, like the god that he is just watching everything play out in his hands. He mentions that this is just for entertainment, and he really should get hold of The Book.
The following day/s
Mori and Chuuya talk about the past events and Chuuya asks if Mori knows anything about it. Mori just says that if Dazai is on the move, he thinks he would need Chuuya’s power. And it’s an advanced payment for the Mafia and they would just have to wait for the repayment later. Mori tells him, “Thank you for your hard work”, but Chuuya says he doesn’t need it because the boss’ order is his job anyway.
Back at the Agency Office, everyday life seems back to normal and we can hear Kunikida’s whines, and so Dazai goes to call him the Agency mom.
Kyouka and Atsushi are off to a new mission and everyone sends them off.
Okay that’s it. It’s 5AM WTH I need to sleep. This is probably the longest post I ever made for BSD oh my gosh. Sorry if this got confusing and boring somewhere, but I’ll just make other posts in the next days to come.
Hit me with asks, tho I’m not sure if I can adequately respond to them in time!
Otsukaresama deshita, myself. Oh the things I do for BSD.
