at some point the sheer insistence that some celebrity is Not Gay/lgbtq+ just starts to sound more like homophobia than respecting their identity

Because if you were respecting their undisclosed identity jennifer you would just say that or move on and not pop a vessel & feel the need to "defend" them going under harmless ship videos like a crackhead commenting shit like "I love their FRIENDSHIP" "I hope you mean that as BROTHERS" whenever someone hints that they're a little fruity or flirting w/the same gender but that would ruin some people's self-insert fantasies I suppose and on another unrelated but maybe slightly related note, shipping real people is okay actually as long as it's contained in the fandom space & not actively pushed on those people
