every now and again i come across fantastic art only to find out it's some minecraft thing and every single time i ask myself "what IS it about minecraft letsplayers that prompts this" even though i know perfectly well what the answer is

#rambling #it's the combination of a few things #there's the parasocial aspect that everyone always talks about which makes it really easy to get invested #and since it's Actual People you get a degree of believable interactions/banter that not all fiction quite manages to hit #and also since it's real people you can have whatever crazy stakes you want because if your fav dies in the game they dont die in real life #so you have this interesting combo of emergent storytelling with compelling “characters”#and creating fanart art can be cool because you've already got the “guide” of a minecraft skin #but because it's yknow a minecraft skin you still need to have interpretations and get creative to make it feel nice and convey personality #and i KNOW this is why it's compelling. i was into minecraft roleplays and letsplays and whatever however many years back ffs!!#yet it STILL manages to catch me off guard every single time #anyways what the fuck is a wrwrd
