Dating Yunho was interesting. You loved him and you knew that you were going to fall in love with him the moment you first met him. There was something special about him. Maybe it was his smile or his laugh or the way he moved when he would dance - you honestly didn’t know which one caught your eye first.
Being a dancer, you had met him 2 years before when you attended a dance workshop. You didn’t know he’d be there, too. You had heard of him before, of course. He was the main dancer of ATEEZ and you were always intrigued by most main dancers; interested to see how they moved. Yunho was no exception. His movement was mesmerizing and his body control was insanely impressive.
You knew he was a good dancer, you just didn’t expect him to be that good. Out of all of the other dancers that attended the workshop, he was the best, and you couldn’t help but steal glances at him through the mirror, thinking he didn’t notice.
Oh, he did.
And he was watching you as well. Yunho had never been so taken away by a dancer before and you had him wrapped around your finger, you just didn’t know it. Yunho had approached you first. He didn’t expect it either, but he felt like he just couldn’t let you go - he was completely mesmerized by you. He tried his hardest not to be, but how could he? Yunho was completely pulled by the way you moved. There were fifteen other dancers in the room and his eyes were only on you.
He struggled with his words, his tall form suddenly seeming small as he stood in front of you. He was trying to ask you out but at the same time didn’t want to make a fool of himself. You knew of his dating ban. Yunho was a fresh idol and it surprised you that he was willing to ignore the dating ban when he asked you out.
Since you were both dancers, Yunho actually came to you often for tips or if he needed an opinion. He trusted yours the most. What you were definitely not expecting from dating Yunho was that after you two had become public, the two of you were asked to perform a dance duet at the Golden Disk Awards - together.
“A camera?” You questioned when you saw Yunho pull the vintage polaroid camera out of his bag.
“It’s just an idea. I think it’ll be a nice lil’ prop. It’s the GDA anyways, we have to think of something impressive.” He shrugged as he made his way over to the sound system, putting the camera onto the desk and his bag on the chair.
“We don’t even have a song yet, Yun.” You pointed out as you watched him plug his phone into the sound system.
“I’m thinking Photograph.” He stated.
“Ed Sheeran?”
“Cody Fry.”
“Cody Fry?” You questioned. Yunho looked up at you for a moment. He blinked a couple times before turning back down to his phone.
“You’ve never heard it? I play it all the time when I visit you.” He muttered with a pout just as the song started playing. “I think it might get some attention.” He hummed as he walked over to where you were stretching, his big arms wrapping around your waist.
“What makes you think that?” You hummed as you looked at the reflection of you two through the mirror.
“This song makes me feel like I’m falling in love with you over and over again.” He chuckled, pressing a kiss to the top of your head. Yunho started to sway to the rhythm of the music with you still in his arms. “I would really love to do this song with you.” He softly said as he rested his chin atop your head.
“Your fans are still quite sensitive about the dating news. Isn’t a song like this a bit too soon?” You looked up at him with hesitation in your eyes but he simply smiled down at you softly.
“They’ll be fine.” He reassured you and leaned down to press a chaste kiss to your nose. “Do you want to lead?” Yunho questioned.
“It’s up to you. I’m fine with anything.”
The dance session started with Yunho restarting the song. He already had most of the choreo thought out in his mind and it didn’t take him long to actually bring it to life. It was easier to find the right moves once you took the time to listen to the song and feel the beat.
You were still curious about how Yunho wanted to incorporate the polaroid camera into the choreo since he still had yet to bring it up. You both decided that you’ll both have a portion of the song for a solo dance before coming together. So, you watched from the side as Yunho thought of his solo bit after you had already laid yours out.
You always saw how talented Yunho was. He moved his body like he was dancing on air. He made it look so easy, but even for you - a dancer for the past eight years - it was difficult for you to catch up to him.
“What do you think?” Yunho questioned, turning to look at you. Beads of sweat dripped down the side of his face and onto the wooden floor of the dance studio.
“Your ideas are always beautiful, Yun.” You smiled at him when he looked away from you, his face flushed.
“You say that all the time, (Y/n).” He muttered out as he turned back to you.
“That’s because it’s always true.” You giggled and pushed yourself off of the floor. “I think it suits the song well.” You stand beside him and look at your reflection in the mirror. “We’re gonna rock the GDA.” Yunho let out a chuckle.
“Maybe I should find some magic film to take a photograph.” He hummed.
“That’s cheesy.” You cringed as you looked up at him.
“Well, my best memories are of us dancing together.” Yunho flashed you a smile. You felt your heart flutter at his words. Dancing together was one of your favourite activities because it genuinely felt like you were both in your own world. The sound of the music as you felt the rhythm flow throughout your body, urging your muscles to move with the beat of the song.
There was no other way to bring you and Yunho closer. It was music that brought you together and you were willing to show the world how much music meant to the both of you.

“(Y/n)!” You turned around to see Hongjoong coming up to you. “This is your first time performing at an awards show, how are you feeling?” He questioned. You gave him a nervous smile as you wiped your hands on the fabric of the summer dress you were wearing. You both decided that a casual outfit was more fitting with the vibe of the song.
“I’m sweating so much, I could fill a whole pool.” You joked.
“I trust you’ll be fine. You and Yunho are amazing dancers.” He praised, a hand gently rubbing your back in an attempt to calm your nerves. “Speaking of Yunho; where is he?” The leader questioned as he looked around the crowded backstage. You looked around as well, trying to see if you could find your six foot boyfriend among the idols.
“How did we lose him? He’s so tall.” You joked. Yunho’s head popped out of the changing room just as you spoke and his face lit up when he saw you. “Speak of the Devil.” You chuckled as you watched him approach the two of you.
“Sorry, I was just making sure I brought the camera.” He held up the camera in front of you. It took awhile before you two could find a way to use the camera. It was a simple aspect, but Yunho felt it would add more emotion into your duet. Hongjoong left to look for Seonghwa, leaving you two. “Are you okay? Is it too crowded?” Yunho questioned once Hongjoong was gone. He knew how overwhelming the backstage to an awards show could be.
“I’m fine.” You reassured him softly. The concern in his eyes didn’t disappear but it lessened, his hand moving to hold yours.
“If you feel uncomfortable, just let me know. I’ll try bringing you somewhere less crowded.” He squeezed your hands softly.
You still had another half an hour before your performance but the minutes were going by slowly. You were getting more and more nervous and Yunho could tell. He watched the way you kept moving in and out of the changing rooms, pacing back and forth in the hallways and lingering awkwardly around the girls of ITZY to help calm your nerves despite constantly reassuring him that you were fine.
“(Y/n), are you sure you’re okay?” Yunho had pulled you into the only unused changing room. You looked around the room, letting out a sigh of relief from the change of environment.
“It was getting a teensie bit overwhelming.” You confessed softly. Yunho pressed his lips into a straight line before taking your hands in his.
“We’re on after this performance. Just think of it as practicing. I’m the only person who’s in the room with you - it’s just us and the music.” He soothed as one of his hands snaked around your waist and his other guided one of your hands to his shoulder. “There’s no one watching. We’re spending another day dancing together and there’s nothing in the world that could stop us.” He hummed as he started to sway his body to the imaginary music, slowly bringing you with him.
“Is this how you cope with all of your performances?” You questioned softly as you moved to rest your head on his chest, his arms wrapping around you and holding you closely against him as the two of you danced slowly; the sound of your heartbeats in the quiet room being all the music you needed. You leaned your head against his chest, letting your heartbeat come into sync with his.
“I calm down when I think of you. I always think about how you would be cheering me on from wherever you are.” Yunho chuckled as he pulled away to look into your eyes. “Just try to keep whatever that keeps you calm in the back of your mind - like a tab playing chill music while you’re working. You can always come back to it whenever you need to.” He smiled warmly as he cupped your face with one of his hands.
You stared into his soft brown eyes, your spirits lifting and the overwhelmed feeling washed away quickly. A sense of comfort washed over you instead and you wrapped your arms around his waist, pulling him close to you.
That moment spent with Yunho was all that you needed to calm down and prepare for your performance. It was like he had reached inside of you and flicked a switch that only he knew how to find. Your performance started and you had found a space in your mind that made you more confident.
You let the music carry your body, your legs swiftly dragging across the floor of the stage. Yunho was watching you carefully. He felt like he was falling in love with you all over again. The way you completely melded into the rhythm made him realise that you were perfect for the spotlight.
If I wished myself a superpower, I would make this moment last for hours,
The lyrics filled Yunho’s mind as you performed your part. He looked to the camera in his hands and he wondered whether you knew just how much he connected with this song. He took a glance at you dancing and he really wished that he could make that sight of you dancing last forever.
You caught the attention of the entire venue and Yunho couldn’t have been prouder when he heard the screams and cheers from the crowd. Your duet ended with you being enveloped by his arms in a hug. His heavy breathing and rapid heartbeat calming you through the anxious feeling that you did badly.
“You did amazing, baby.” Yunho whispered in your ear as you waited for the lights to dim. When they did, you both rushed backstage and he engulfed you in another hug. “I’m so proud of you, (Y/n). You did so well.” He praised through heavy breaths.
“Did I really?” You questioned, trying to catch your breath as well. “I messed up at one part and I feel like everyone saw you.” You muttered softly but Yunho frantically shook his head. He opened his mouth to speak but was interrupted by his bandmates instead.
“(Y/n)! That was amazing!” Wooyoung exclaimed. You looked between all seven of them. Their wide and proud smiles were enough to convince you that you did do well.
“You guys are trending.” Jongho lifted his phone to show you the twitter tags. You snatched his phone out of his hand to look at the screen closer. He was right. (Y/n)xYunho_OTP was trending at number 2.
“Oh my god, Yunho!” You bounced excitedly as you showed him the phone. Yunho’s smile widened and his eyes sparkled proudly as he wrapped an arm around your waist. “Oh my god, we’re trending.” You said in almost disbelief as you looked through the tweets.
(Y/n) and Yunho dance so well together!
They’re chemistry made the performance so much more fun to watch!!
It was like watching a love story~
Your smile grew bigger and bigger the more you read the tweets from ATINY. You were expecting more hate from being so public with Yunho, but it seemed that they were perfectly fine with the two of you dating and being on stage together.
“We need to do performances together more often. You shined on stage, (Y/n).” Yunho hummed as he pulled you closer to him.
“I just thought of it like you said.” You mentioned and smiled at him. He let out a chuckle and wrapped his arms around you for another hug.
“You dance perfectly. I really did wish that I could live in that moment forever.” He sighed contently, his head burying into the crook of your neck. “I love you.”
“I love you, too.” You closed your eyes and buried yourself in his presence.
“Get a room!” Wooyoung joked, earning a punch to the arm from Seonghwa as the two of you pulled apart.
“They’re in their own world. Let them be.” He scolded. You and Yunho laughed as you watched him start to scuffle with the older member. Yunho glanced at you as you laughed.
God, he was so in love with you.

SYTYCD s16: the Final Cut - part 2, Guys
Had a busy week, recorded the show and saw it on Tuesday but hadn’t had time to sit down and sort out my notes. Anyway, this episode was really exciting because they had a really good group of guys.
Before we go, some thoughts about prior rounds - Sad to see Jay go. I figured he would never make it to the live shows even competing as himself and not as Estranja, just because this show is stuck in its cis binary gender world. I’m glad he came out here for two years to make a statement
Same as last week, I’ll include the contestant’s home style in brackets and score each dance out of ten.
Bailey Munoz (b-boy) with Lauren Froderman, contemporary - I’m rooting HARD for Bailey. He is so cute and his talent is off the charts!!! I’m curious as to why he was given contemporary in this round, since it seems (at least for the ladies) they were given styles they struggled with but his contemporary round was good. If that was still his weakest style, he’s gonna take this show by storm. Now for his dance with Lauren - wow!! D-trix reps me with his response. Bailey is really powerful and he knows how to use his strengths. He had a great connection with Lauren. Nice to see him taking care of details like pointing his toes. 10/10
Ezra Sosa (ballroom) with Comfort Fedoke, hip-hop - Stephanie’s little brother. He says he isn’t saucy...but I think Latin ballroom has got to have some of the sauciest styles out there. Maybe he’s thinking more swagger? In any case, I liked his performance a lot! Only thing is he might have been in his head a little bit. The judges gave him good comments but didn’t look very enthused which confused me. 9/10
Vlad Kvartin (ballroom) with Melanie Moore, contemporary - So we barely glimpsed Vlad up till this point. I remember at the end of Academy, the judges mentioned his solo was offputting. But he is still here. This dance was a good effort and Vlad made each movement effortless, but he was stuck in his head and so the dance felt very unfeeling. Also didn’t really help that the choreo makes him scarcely more than a prop for Melanie. There was a moment where he smiled at Melanie and I thought he was finally getting into the dance, but it was an isolated event. 7/10
Aleksander Ostanin (tap) with Lindsay Arnold, cha cha cha - Choreo by Sharna. Aye DWTS ladies! from what I’m seeing, Aleksander has been on (won?) SYTYCD Ukraine. So, this was a hard routine and for the most part he looked very sharp. His downfall was the tricks because he’s not as strong upper body wise (not surprising since he’s a tap specialist). Some transitions also looked slow. He looked like he was enjoying himself, but I wanted him to project more energy. At this point I think he is stronger than Eddie if Nigel wants a tap dancer. He’s really charismatic too. 7/10
Benjamin Castro (contemporary) with Koine Iwasaki, salsa - Interesting partner assignment, but in the end Koine looked like she has been doing salsa all her life. This dance was fire. Benji’s footwork was so sharp. If only he wasn’t flat footed. He also needs to be careful not to let his butt stick out, being tall, but even that happened only 1.5 times. Unfortunately for Aleksander this was a better ballroom routine, and right after him too. 8/10
Bryan “Clocks” Volozanin (animation) with Jasmine Harper, jazz - This guy has a great positive attitude and approach, it’s a shame this dance wasn’t stronger. It was honestly kinda basic save for some jumps that Clocks didn’t pull off great (but at least we got a throwback to some of Dominic’s less than stellar ones too). 6/10
Brandon Talbott (contemporary ballet) with Lindsay, cha cha cha - choreo-ed by Emma and Sasha. Shoutout to my DWTS squad today!! I loved the choreography here, especially that cartwheel move at the end. He tried to channel his inner saucy persona, “Brando”, but sadly “Brando” didn’t come through. He still looked very ballet and pulled-up. Lacked hip action. There were some moves he was obviously pushing through. Shame, he looked good in that black jacket. 6/10
Nathan Cherry (hip-hop) with Melanie, contemporary - Haven’t seen him until now, so there ya go. Cheating storyline for an 18-year-old? I feel like that’s setting him up in a bad way. Uh anyway, this dance really really confused me. The performance itself blew hot and cold. Sometimes he was too gangly. Sometimes it almost seemed like he made a connection but the next moment it would be flat and unfeeling. Choreo didn’t give Nathan much to show either. I felt disconnected from this piece. But the judges seemed to really like it. Hence my confusion. 5/10
Gino Cosculluela (contemporary) with Lauren, jazz - first of all, it took me multiple tries to spell his last name. I think Gino’s biggest downfall will be the high expectations people have of him. Like, in this piece he wobbled once and flicked his hands weird once, which for most people would be passable, but I was thinking, this shouldn’t happen for someone of his caliber and background. Gino is very technical. I wanted more sass. The judges were stern in their comments, but Nigel made it sound like it was pretty much given he’d be in the live shows. Or I guess they are calling it studio shows. Don’t get me wrong, I think he deserves a spot. It’s just he still has room to grow and will have to fight greater expectations. 8/10
Eddie Hoyt (tap) with Comfort, hip-hop - Oh, Eddie, Eddie, Eddie. I wanted to root for him but the guy’s ballroom routine was really rough and he should have gone home there and then. But Nigel gave him a chance. Then, I actually kinda liked his last solo. It was different, and I liked the way he played with the music/sound. Was it the smartest choice given the stakes? No. In any case, I feel like he has a shot just because Nigel always needs a tap dancer. (And Aleksander hadn’t been shown until this week if that says anything about his chances of making the live shows.) I was sure Eddie would get ballroom in this round, but apparently he was assigned to it during the big Academy group number (which Mandy totally fudged, by the way. Cutting and pasting all your other dances? How original is that? /s) and did better then. Now, I had doubts for this round, but Eddie might have just done it. This was a great dance. He was in the groove. He still had that cute boy face at times but because the theme wasn’t too serious or swaggy I think he got away with this one. He probably had the roughest Academy of the ten remaining guys, but pulled this performance out at just the right time. 9/10
So, before I watched my recording I got spoiled on Twitter about Bailey and Benji getting in. Based on the judges’ reactions and previous rounds, my guesses for the other 3 were: Eddie Gino Nathan
Man, this was hard! I really waffled between Nathan and Ezra for that last spot, because I thought one was good today but the judges seemed unconvinced while the other was meh to me but the judges were positive about. In the end, it’s Ezra, Gino and Eddie joining Bailey and Benji in the live shows.
Lol Mary really pulled one on Ezra. He had convinced himself they were sending him off and was already saying his thanks and goodbyes before Mary even finished what she was saying.
The male talent pool was undoubtedly outrageous this season, though. I feel like a handful of those who didn’t get in could have displaced the top ladies in a mixed pool.
Who’s your favourite going into the top 10?

S14, Top 9
I’m still sad about last week’s elimination, but honestly I think that will happen every week because everyone is great and fully qualified to be there. Ugh.
That being said, let’s get into it because there are a lot of dances tonight - duets, solos, an all-star dance, a group dance...it’s be jam packed!
Group Dance - Loved the energy, loved the all-stars, loved Lex (seeing as though he was really the only one featured in that). Seriously though, I don’t understand how Lex can flip as well and as high as he does. Crazy talented.
Logan and Allison, Jive (Emma and Sasha) - I love the DWTS crossover choreo, and that was a really fun piece! Logan really got to show a different side of himself than the “alien contemp” dancer. Allison has got to be the absolute best coach / mentor because she really makes anyone who dances with her be their best self, even in a completely foreign style.
Kaylee solo - I liked her dancing but her face always looks concerned. Anyone else notice that?
Sydney solo - Another great ballroom solo from Sydney, but definitely something weird happened because her aerial turned into a cartwheel. Weird.
Koine and Marko, Hip Hop (Dave Scott) - The audience was seriously going NUTS in the background of that dance. Anyone else catch that they spelled Koine’s name wrong? Come on, interns! The chemistry between these two is still phenomenal and regardless of the style they get, they might be able to ride that pretty damn far. That being said, both of them were awesome in that dance. Koine really got into character and hit on the choreography. And again, she made Marko look good when his partners in the past (at least as an all-star) have not.
Dassy and Fikshun, Jazz (Ray Leeper) - These two could have their own variety show, and I swear it would be a success. They are so great together. As for this routine, I’m a bit on the fence about it. I absolutely loved the energy and the fun costumes and the overall vibes. However, you could see some holes in Dassy’s technique. It seemed to be lacking a little bit of sharpness, especially on some of the kicks. I also didn’t think Ray really highlighted Dassy enough in that, and it also didn’t feel much like jazz to me. All that being said, I did enjoy it but wasn’t crazy wow’ed.
Kiki solo - Gotta hand it to the guy...he really knows how to rock a ballroom solo. And play to his fans.
Mark and Comfort, Contemporary (Talia Favia) - That was pretty incredible to watch. I just pretty much stared in awe the entire time. Their connection was on POINT. Each movement was perfectly synchronized and their support of each other was visually and physically palpable. I hope I’m not being super biased because Mark danced for @taylorswift, but I really adore him.
Taylor solo - Someone else on here was saying that the stage looked slippery, and that was pretty evident for poor Taylor. She was all shaky on her poses and spins...very un Taylor like.
All Star Group Dance - Travis Wall will change the world.
Lex and Gabby, Broadway (Warren Carlyle) - Lex is a freaking chameleon. I didn’t even recognize him in this with all the fun he was having! I’m so glad he’s coming into his own week after week. There was so much in this routine, and it all seemed like it was on warp speed. Lex didn’t miss a beat, and again, can he defy gravity? That leg flare OMG.
Logan solo - This kid is like Travis, Jakob Karr, and Robert all rolled into one, and I am HERE FOR IT.
Sydney and Paul, Hip Hop (Luther Brown) - This is another one that I was pretty indifferent to. I thought it was a fun concept, but as Nigel said, a little basic. They were clearly having fun with it, but I didn’t get the commitment or grove of it from Sydney. She feel a little flat for me, especially next to Paul.
Koine solo - I think my favorite thing about her is that she doesn’t do angsty solos. She shows her passion and personality, and they are both excellent! And they spelled her name right!
Top 9 Group Dance - Love this piece! It was so much fun, and I feel like everyone had a real chance to shine. Standouts for me were Logan, Lex and Taylor.
Kaylee and Cyrus, Jazz (Specer Liff) - I seriously hate when people talk about props like “dropping the [insert any prop here] would be disaster”. It wouldn’t. Seriously though, I liked this dance a lot. The stylized choreo and quirkiness of it were perfect for Kaylee, and I thought their timing and synchronicity were on point. I agreed with Mary that some of the jumps were a little labored-looking, but it didn’t detract anything from the routine for me. It reminded me a little bit of the suspender dance with Sara and Pasha from S3 (and later Jenna and Lindsey haha), which is one of my all time favs.
Mark solo - My aesthetic = Mark dancing to an Ed Sheeran song. GREAT solo.
Taylor and Robert, Samba (Jean Marc) - First and foremost, I absolutely love Jean Marc and need him on the show every week to keep things interesting. I agreed with Nigel’s comment on the lack of chemistry / flirtation and Vanessa’s on lack of fire. It was a little bit “dance competition” feel for me with the smiley faces. I also didn’t love the song, which isn’t their fault but just an observation. It was sad to see the sad looks on their faces during their critiques. Breaks my heart!
Dassy solo - Damn she’s good. So committed and focused in her movements, and it’s great to watch.
Lex solo - HOW? Just HOW?
Kiki and Jenna, Contemporary (Mandy Moore) - Man, I forget what an absolutely beautiful dancer Jenna is, especially in contemporary. That was a beautiful piece by Mandy, and I thought they both performed very well. Honestly, there wasn’t much that Kiki had to do outside of partnering Jenna, but he partnered the hell out of her. Everything looked so effortless and beautiful. Their chemistry was tangible, and I’m starting to come around on these two.
Spoilers ahead -- you’ve been warned!
Bottom 3: Dassy (what???), Sydney (not all that surprised unfortunately) and Mark (um NO)
When you get in the bottom a couple weeks in a row at the beginning and then have a mediocre routine, it’s hard for the judges to find a reason to keep you, unfortunately. Sad to see Sydney go, but I think it was the right decision.
