Thinking about how relatives send you stuff to mend or ask you to make something when they learn you sew and how it's a reflection of simpler times when not everyone had the same skills but that was so everything could be done by someone so hey I send you some sewing I need done and you know I can do chair straw weaving so if you need a chair repared just hit me up and yeah sure when I'll kill the pig I'll send you some of the meat after I prepped it cuz I know how to do it and I have the pig and all. And how it was completely ruined by capitalism to the point where your very survival depends on money not services or goods anymore so what you need from those relatives in exchange for those sewing skills and work are money that you can spend on services and good and you have that made up fucked up thing in between you and the chair mender to the point that in exchange for sewing you get very little money that gets you survival but not comfort and your chair mender relative is the same, and the middle man is the one hoarding money. And those relatives who ask for repairs and mending jobs are doing so because of an instinct that was made obsolete and we're completely disconnected to what a society is supposed to be
