People do need to embrace it. I've found through my own experience with relearning to embrace the cringe, a lot of the time the feeling of embarrassment from the embarrassing moments that did happen tends to bleed into moments that were perfectly fine. It's just a matter of learning to separate those feelings from each other. That's how I did it anyway.

Gregory's father is the man who was walking with a hole in his torso. He's handling it pretty well. (That is to say, he's this close to committing arson)

I didn't specify at all. I couldn't decide whether it should take place immediately after birth (Gregory's sperm donor was a blond man, Susan's an albino) or during a visit to a pediatrician. Tests have to be done for any underlying health issues, after all. I knew I wanted it to be during a doctor's appointment.
