I don't know why I'm suddenly remembering this, but a few years ago a guy I knew on the internet and who was pretty conservative was sincerely trying to persuade me to stop calling Hungarians "Hungarians" because "it's offensive to them".

#this was not a dream #this is a thing that absolutely happened #he said the equivalent would be to call me a Wallachian #to which I pointed out I'm actually Transylvanian #and anyway it can't possibly be equivalent because nobody uses that term in this day and age #people are weird
