how my hyperfixation on a musical goes:

i hear about it on social media, decide to watch it someday but that day never comes

then i sit down and finally watch it on an impulse and get emotional and shed quite a few tears during second act

theeeen and it's a new additional step i get also excited that some faces are familiar and google them to be sure and when i recognize them right i get even more excited

then i look for and find (sooner or later) and download the ost album as i first watch a movie if there's a movie

theen i look for and find and download the libretto or a script of the movie

then i listen to it and read the lyrics along over and over and over (i think by now i've listened to Hamilton more than a hundred times honestly)

then as i get familiar with the lyrics enough i find and watch the obc performance hehehe

alongside all this i watch all i can find on youtube – interviews, other performance clips, more background , i search for it on tumblr, save some jokes and memes on pinterest, follow some actors on Instagram

and slowly the initial excitement fades away but it stays still, whenever i put on the songs it makes me feel things and moves me

what inspired this longass post? well, i watched hamilton a year ago and been obsessed with it ever since, then in the heights movie came out and i did all the above steps and followed lin manuel miranda on twitter and therefore i was very aware of tick tick boom coming out but! i didn't watch it immediately, actually i finally sat down to watch it because my friend also mentioned it and i did more googling and once i realized that miranda directed it (yes i clearly didn't read his tweets lol) and that it's about jonathan larson who wrote rent(that i just knew is iconic and was very high on my 'musicals to watch' list) i went straight for my pc and started watching. and started on the algorithm above and on the step of googling familiar faces i jumped onto the rent.and now i'm obsessing over two musicals at once🥺👍
