I saw a manga with a man saying this about his 15 year old son in a life and death fight " the pup left his home to chase his own dream once a bird leaves its nest he is an independent man a real man has the freedom to choose between life and death and a guy ( who cant interfere but wouldnt stop the father) asking how can you say that if this continues your son will meet certain death and the father remarking I can always have another son thoughts
Well yikes. As if a 15yr old kid would have the perspective to know any better to make such lofty informed decisions about his own mortality. If this isn't some old school shonen power fantasy or something, it sounds like a shitty absentee father trying to bs any excuse to justify his own powerless inaction and avoidance when the moment matters most. Cause he has the choice between saving or losing his boy forever. He'd rather completely skirt any responsibility and rationalize to himself that it's ~ok~ to leave his 15yr old kid to die when things are 'too hard' to interfere.
Poor kid, if this is all the paternal 'love' he's ever known - to be seen as replaceable and thrown away like trash whenever he's in trouble or makes life-endangering mistakes, because his own dad is too cowardly to actually step up and be a father, to help correct and guide him on the right path. If his negligence is the only sorry excuse and extent he 'cares' for him. (Why even bother having kids at all if he's chill with them failing and dying before him? No way to ensure any legacy like that either, so what really is his point in having 'another' one if he can't even be there to support the one he already has.)
I bet he's the type who'd use up and abandon his wife too with some shitty excuse to make himself feel better about his infidelity and escapist 'manly freedom' too. So many red flags all around; his kid meeting certain death in a fight will be the least of his problems when, even if he survives, his neglected mental heath would still remain in the gutter. I won't be surprised if the kid grows up in spite one day to kill him or worse. So the other guy is completely right for criticizing him, but Reigen ripping this poor excuse of a 'dad' a new one would be the most satisfying icing on the cake.
