Fushimi and Yata getting body switched by a strain just as they were to do something important (s4 work for Fushimi and some sort of activity with Homra for Yata) and they can't just take a leave for either. They didn't wan tto trouble anyone so they decided for now until whatever even they'd be going to is over, they have to pretend nothing is wrong. How would the two pretend to be the other? I mean they have their own perception of what kind of person the other is after all.

I feel like everyone would figure them out immediately, they wouldn’t be able to resist mocking each other XD Maybe this takes place post-ROK so Fushimi at least is less likely to just walk around going ‘Hi I’m Misaki I’m a giant idiot’ and Yata’s less likely to be like ‘hi I’m Fushimi I’m an asshole traitor.’ Say they get bodyswitched due to something they themselves did, like they were supposed to be chasing a Strain and got distracted by something and then were ambushed, they’re both too embarrassed to admit that they got caught to their respective clans. Fushimi’s all annoyed at being in the body of a hot-headed shrimp while Yata’s like at least my body gets proper nutrients seriously Saruhiko haven’t we talked about this. Fushimi supposes he’ll just take the rest of the day off, which is when he gets a message from Awashima summoning him back to S4 for some important government meeting thing. At the same time Yata’s boss at work sends him a reminder that he’s coming in early today since someone called off and Yata offered to take the shift, Yata’s like shit I can’t go to work like this, he definitely can’t explain the body switch thing to a normal person. They exchange a glance and Yata’s like ‘you don’t think we could…’, Fushimi’s not thrilled about it but then again this does get him out of a boring meeting.

So cue some time later and ‘Fushimi’ walks into S4 trying very hard to slouch and look annoyed at everything. Imagine poor Yata trying to remember where everything is, like he generally knows where Fushimi’s office is because he’s brought Fushimi lunch a couple times but he doesn’t know where Munakata’s office is or anything like that. He’s trying to look like he belongs there while also attempting to look into random rooms, at some point he finally gets lucky and runs into Akiyama, who asks ‘Fushimi-san’ if he’s okay. Yata stumbles over his words a little, he knows that this guy is kinda friends with Fushimi but he isn’t really sure about how that sounds and imagine him kinda falling back into a cadence similar to middle school Fushimi, giving this small confident smile as he says he’s meeting with the Captain. Akiyama is confused by why Fushimi seems so friendly all of a sudden but tells him that Munakata and Awashima are waiting for him in the main office, Yata tries not to sigh in relief as he heads that way, giving Akiyama a hesitant rambling ‘thanks’ which makes Akiyama brighten considerably. 

I imagine when Yata gets to where Munakata and Awashima are waiting Munakata gives him a curious look almost immediately, Yata nearly glares angrily back but then remembers he’s supposed to be Fushimi so he just tries to look bored and annoyed instead. Munakata’s all ‘shall we be off?’ and Yata gets dragged off to the meeting (oh imagine they’re driving to another office and Munakata and Awashima get into the back of the van, as Yata realizes in dread that they’re expecting him to drive). The meeting is pretty boring but imagine Yata being unsure the whole time, because he feels like the Saruhiko thing to do would be to play on his PDA the whole time but then again what if Saruhiko is more attentive at his work than he used to be in school. Yata also finds himself feeling pretty lost with all the political talk going on but he tries not to look it, like Saruhiko definitely would know what all this is about and he doesn’t want anyone thinking Fushimi’s an idiot. Afterward they head back to the van and Munakata idly asks how ‘Yatagarasu-kun’ felt about the meeting, Yata starts to answer before being like well shit.

Meanwhile Fushimi goes to Yata’s work first and imagine him torn between his natural tendency to be good at things and having to be slightly less good at things because he doesn’t want to be suspicious. I feel like even at this point he would overcompensate for the ‘idiot’ part, like the boss asks him to record some inventory and Fushimi acts like he can’t even count until the boss asks him if he’s okay (and then Fushimi quickly and quietly finishes everything in minutes and has to pretend to be working on it for like an hour because he feels like okay how long would this take Misaki). Then some kids come in and want lessons, the boss tells ‘Yata’ to take them out to the skate park while Fushimi has an inner panic. He decides well how hard could this be, Misaki’s body probably naturally knows what to do. This is proven wrong the moment he gets on the skateboard and falls flat on his ass, all the kids start laughing and Fushimi almost clicks his tongue before remembering that no, this is Misaki, wouldn’t Misaki laugh along and say there must have been something slippery on the board and that’s why he couldn’t keep his feet. The kids are being really bright and chatty with him too and Fushimi has to try his best to keep up because he feels like this is how Misaki is, right, friendly to everyone and smiling all the time.

After his job Fushimi heads to the bar, Yata let him know there was some Homra thing happening later and he figures maybe they can meet up there afterward too. Fushimi probably feels like this will be easier, Anna will be there and she’ll know who he is immediately so he doesn’t have to keep up the facade, but it turns out Kusanagi took Anna out for a day trip so it’s just the Homra alphabet at the bar. Kamamoto greets ‘Yata-san’ as soon as he comes in and Fushimi has to bite his tongue and force a smile. I imagine poor Fushimi being so out of his element here, like everyone is being loud and chatting and it makes Fushimi’s head hurt but he’s being Yata right now so he has to smile and try to be friendly. Even so everyone can tell something’s wrong, Kamamoto asks if Yata’s feeling sick and Fushimi says he has a headache before quickly adding ‘no problem though,’ after all Misaki would never get sick being surrounded by loud people. When ‘Fushimi’ shows up at the bar to get him though he can’t leave fast enough, Yata assumes Fushimi must have told everyone and he’s surprised and kinda touched when he finds out that Fushimi didn’t, that Fushimi tried to be friendly even though that kind of thing exhausts him.

I don't know if you've done something like this before...so Saruhiko loves Misaki, they're dating ig....buut unfortunately Misaki can't satisfy him in bed, let's say he isn't lacking only in height oops ;) but you know who is troubled by such problems? Mikoto 👀 So now we have Saruhiko who loves Misaki but he loves to do the devil's tango with Mikoto since his bf unfortunately can't satisfy his other needs. Please entertain the idea even if it may go beyond Saru's huge love for Misaki and may sound a bit OOC to you 🙏

Okay devil's tango made me laugh XD I do have some trouble seeing Fushimi doing something like this, since he'd be once again knowingly hurting Yata, but maybe looking at this less like Yata not being able to satisfy Fushimi and more Fushimi attempting to subconsciously sabotage his own relationship because he still thinks it's going to collapse anyway. Also maybe relating this to one of those asks I had in the past about attachment disorders, imagine Fushimi with more of a fearful-avoidant attachment disorder and so in this AU rather than avoiding touching strangers at all costs Fushimi's had a lot of sexual partners as just flings, basically his way of searching for affection while also rejecting anything with permanency since he assumes it won't last. Post-ROK Yata confesses his feelings to Fushimi and Fushimi accepts them but at the same time he's still dealing with all the old fears and doing his best to keep those from Yata, like he's simultaneously in love with Yata and terrified of Yata leaving him but at the same time he still can't bring himself to think this will last either.

When they start sleeping together Yata is of course a total virgin but say he's completely unaware that Fushimi is not, just assuming that the Fushimi who always hated being close to anyone certainly wouldn't be sleeping with other people while they were apart. Really though Fushimi's had multiple partners and he's pretty well aware that Yata is not, ah, well-endowed and also doesn't particularly know how to use it either, leaving Fushimi unsatisfied entirely. Fushimi doesn't say as much but it starts eating at him, like maybe assuming this is another sign they aren't compatible and he never should have let things get this serious. Assuming this is also Everybody Lives AU imagine this is when he ends up going to Mikoto, who has no idea that Yata and Fushimi are dating (because I think he'd absolutely refuse if he knew Yata and Fushimi were together). Even during the betrayal years Fushimi's had something of an 'not-quite-enemies-not-quite-friends with benefits' thing going on, like imagine Fushimi getting into some trouble at a bar once when he was trying to pick up a partner for the night, almost having his drink spiked or something, and Mikoto happened to be there and helped him. This spiraled into sort of a thing that Fushimi claims to hate but never actually did, and it's far too easy to go back into old habits (and maybe part of Fushimi is vindictively excited about this, cheating on Misaki with the same person he still feels like Yata 'replaced' him with). Mikoto isn't thrilled about the whole thing at all because I think he'd at least have some idea that if Fushimi's here wanting to sleep with him again there may be some emotional things going on but he also figures better him than Fushimi going to a random bar again.

Eventually Yata would have to find out about this and of course he'd be heartbroken (and Mikoto I think would be fairly pissed at Fushimi for not being honest with him, I could see him basically telling Fushimi to deal with his own problems and not draw other people into it, and that would be the end of things between them). Fushimi would just take Yata's betrayed look and part of him feels excited by it even as the rest of him is disgusted with himself, like I could see him in some twisted way thinking see Misaki this is how it feels when someone throws you away. But at the same time he knows he's just broken the best thing he ever had because even now he still can't bring himself to believe in anything permanent and isn't it for the best anyway, that Misaki won't be tied down to him anymore. I think it would be hard but not impossible for them to reconcile from this but Fushimi in particular would need some therapy or something, like he needs to face that he's purposefully hurting Yata and that he's allowed to have permanent things, he's allowed to be happy, and come to terms with the fact that what he really wants is for Misaki to stay by his side. Yata being more the hurt party in this situation I think more would have to try and understand why Fushimi's doing this, like to him at first it's unforgivable but when they finally talk and he starts to realize how afraid Fushimi is of everything to do with real intimacy and relationships he at least starts to realize what the reasons behind all this was and it gives him an outlet to forgive Fushimi if only Fushimi will ask him to.

Post rok. Yata began to notice that he could not see objects far in the distance, but believed that this was overwork. His boyfriend Fushimi began to notice that Misaki often squints, but Yata refuses to acknowledge the problem. Until Anna and Fushimi trick him into an optometrist and it turns out that Yata is short-sighted. And now the three of them should buy Yata glasses (or rather a few) so that he sees better and lenses (tricks on a skateboard are not very good for preserving glasses).

Imagine Yata declaring loudly that he doesn’t need nerd glasses right in front of Fushimi and his big thick nerd glasses XD Yata would probably deny that he was having a problem as long as possible, feeling like no way he’s having eye trouble his eyes have always been awesome. Fushimi is the one who notices it first, he’s well aware of what the signs of this kind of thing are. Fushimi stops by to see Yata after work and maybe they go to get a bite to eat, and Fushimi notices that Yata’s squinting to look at the menu. Fushimi teases him like ‘maybe you’re going near sighted in your old age Misaki’ and Yata’s a little too heated when he tells Fushimi to shut up.

Fushimi starts noticing more and more after that, maybe Yata even messes up a skateboard trick because he misjudges the distance to the ground due to not being able to see right. Afterward he’s a bit banged up and in a bad mood, not wanting to admit why he messed up that trick. Anna’s concerned about him too, like he’s sitting on the couch at the bar nursing his bruises and Anna puts a hand on his leg and says his name. Yata tries to give her a smile but it’s shaky and she knows he’s hiding something. He changes the subject when she tries to ask though, saying he’s going to go get cleaned up. Kusanagi sees Anna watching him go and asks if she’s okay, Anna says she needs help and can Kusanagi drive her to Scepter 4.

So a few days later Yata’s all confused because Anna pretty much begged him to take her somewhere and when they get to the address she provided it’s this big office building and Fushimi’s standing there waiting for them. Yata’s all wait what’s going on and Anna’s like ‘Saruhiko, now,’ as she grabs Yata’s wrist and together Fushimi and Anna drag Yata inside. Yata’s like wait what the hell, stumbling inside and looking around as he realizes that they’re in an eye doctor’s office. Anna says she made Misaki an appointment. Yata insists he doesn’t need his eyes checked and Anna looks crestfallen, Fushimi clicks his tongue and is like ‘that’s not how you speak to girls Misaki.’ Yata looks at Anna and he pretty much knows he has to give in, like he can’t say no to her sad face and he has no choice but to quietly go into his appointment.

Of course it turns out he needs glasses, Fushimi gets to tease him about who’s a nerd now and Yata’s all shut up and help me find some cool glasses. Anna is very determined to help him find some too, imagine her picking out all these red pairs for him to try. Fushimi finds him like a sports pair that Yata can wear while skateboarding, Yata grins and thanks him while Fushimi looks away and mumbles that it’s nothing (also maybe Misaki looks okay with glasses, just a little bit).

Fushimi and Yata decided that one day they'd get married and after talking about who would propose, they decide they'd both do it but it has to be a surprise for the other. Time passed and the more they thought about it, the more it starts feeling like it'd be a competition of who does it best. They end up proposing at the same time on the same occasion anyways lol. Turns out they have similar ideas.

This is how they end up never proposing to each other, because neither one wants to lose XD Imagine post-ROK they've been dating for a while and one day Yata idly mentions something like 'you ever think about getting married?'. Maybe he's trying to play it all cool but really he is interested, because you never know how Saruhiko might feel about this kind of thing and if he's not comfortable with the idea of marriage Yata figures he should get that out in the open now. Fushimi gives him this slight grin like are you thinking of proposing to someone else Misaki and Yata's like no I wanna propose to you but I just wanted to see if you were okay with it. Fushimi thinks about that and is like well I guess it would be okay, but I would do a better job proposing to you. Yata's like yeah right Saru you wouldn't know romance if it bit you on the butt, my proposal would be way better. Fushimi says we'll see about that, Misaki has to propose first. Yata says well maybe he might but it has to be a surprise first and Fushimi agrees with that, proposals are supposed to be surprising aren't they. Yata adds that his proposal when he does it is gonna be super awesome so you just wait for it and Fushimi's like that's if I don't propose to you in a better way first.

So now the contest is on, to see who can do the best and most surprising proposal before the other does. Imagine this is like an unofficial competition between them though, like it's not as if they're constantly thinking about it but it's always in the back of both their minds, like neither one is going to lose on this proposal thing (also I imagine them talking about this to their respective fellow clansman, who have been wondering when these two are finally gonna propose to each other, and said fellow clansman are just like '...so they are idiots after all' when they find out that the proposal is now a competition). Fushimi knows he isn't great in the romance department but he is determined to make an effort even if it's stupid while Yata knows Saruhiko is sneaky and could jump him at any time with a surprise proposal so he has to be on his guard. They both probably expect the other to do something big and flashy and so figure the best way would be to stealthily do it in a small intimate way instead. It can't be on any big holiday or anniversary or birthday, since that would be expected, but it shouldn't just be on any regular day either because that's too forgettable.

Finally this probably ends up in the two of them having like a small date at home playing video games, Yata goes to get them drinks while Fushimi reaches under the couch where he's stealthily hidden a ring. It just so happens to be the anniversary of the day they met and both figure the other won't remember (well, Fushimi thinks Yata won't remember and Yata thinks Fushimi won't expect him to remember). Yata walks back in with a drink and suddenly pulls out a ring box at the exact same moment Fushimi does, both of them with a tandem 'will you marry me?'. They stare at each other for a moment and then Yata starts to laugh and even Fushimi's smiling as Yata sits back down beside him. Fushimi murmurs that he supposes that's a yes, Yata's like yeah I guess for both of us. Fushimi wonders who won and Yata slides a ring on his finger as he's like let's call it a tie this time.

Back when they were both in Homra, Fushimi and Yata get invited for the first time to one of the gang's sleepovers. Misaki is super excited about all of this of course, and Saruhiko is less than enthused, but the moment they get there Saru deftly plops his head onto Misaki's lap.

"What are you doing?!"

"It's a sleepover, Misaki, and I'm getting some sleep."

To everyone else, it is immediately clear that Fushimi is being possessive and territorial of Misaki, but honestly, Yata is blissfully unaware, letting Saru stay there for the rest of the night.

That's one way to mark your territory Saru XD I kinda love this idea though, like he can't stand the idea of Yata giving other people attention so he just cuts it off at the pass. Like say Homra has pretty regular 'sleepovers' at the bar, everyone just spending the night there and hanging out and having fun. Oh maybe this is like around the New Year's Shrine short story, where the Homra trio leave early in the morning but they let Yata and the others stay at the bar and celebrate. Everyone's allowed to come to the bar for a new year's eve party and then stay up to midnight and sleep over. Fushimi obviously does not want to go at all, the idea of spending not just the evening but all night in the bar with all the other Homra guys pressed close together just makes him shudder and there's no way he's going to be able to sleep with so many people in the same room. Yata's super pumped to go though, he can't stop talking about how it's their first sleepover at the bar and it's going to be awesome and he can't wait, and Fushimi isn't going to stay home if Yata's going.

They head to the bar and Fushimi spends most of the evening hiding the corner watching Yata and glaring, everyone keeps talking to Misaki and Yata's chatting and smiling and it's just making Fushimi more and more annoyed. Things start to slow down after midnight, like it's less of a party and turning into more of a regular sleepover with everyone just sitting around and chatting. Yata finds himself a good spot near Mikoto's couch all ready to hang out with everyone, and that's when Fushimi finally gets up and deliberately lies down with his head in Misaki's lap. Yata's like what are you even doing and Fushimi gives him this look like Yata just said the most worthless thing in the world, voice sounding totally matter of fact as he's like 'It's a sleepover Misaki, I'm getting some sleep.'

Yata can't exactly argue that and imagine his face gets a little red too because, y'know, Saruhiko is sleeping in his lap but Fushimi's already closed his eyes and doesn't see it. Yata can't bring himself to push Fushimi off either, especially because imagine that even though Fushimi totally did this in a fit of temper he actually does find it really comfortable in Yata's lap and he ends up falling asleep. Yata knows that Fushimi has trouble sleeping in a crowd from like middle school sleep-away camp or something and he was a bit worried that Fushimi wouldn’t be able to sleep at all so now that Fushimi's actually sleeping Yata can't bring himself to move, he doesn't want to wake Saruhiko. So instead of chatting with everyone he ends up just sitting there watching Saruhiko sleep, thinking well at least Saruhiko will get a good night's sleep, he needs one (and as Yata's thinking that gosh Saruhiko must really trust me as his best friend no wonder he decided to sleep by me the rest of Homra is looking at them like okay so they are dating right they're definitely dating that's a possessive boyfriend move if I ever saw one).

Normal world au where Fushimi is jealous that Misaki thinks Mikoto is cool and tries to "compete" in his own way. He tries to be better at doing the things Mikoto does that Misaki thinks is great but not only does it not work but Misaki either doesn't react the way Fushimi wants to or Misaki doesn't notice at all. He ends up feeling not good enough and that maybe he should just give up on Misaki. Munakata decides to help him when he finds out (plus Munakata maybe likes Mikoto himself so...)

Somehow my first thought was 'wait, what even are the things Mikoto is good at' XD Imagine like normal AU, Fushimi and Yata have just entered high school. All through middle school it was just the two of them but then in high school Yata ends up getting caught up with this group called Homra, led by a senior named Suoh Mikoto. Homra is like this delinquent group that hangs out together after school and sometimes they get into fights and such, Yata thinks this is the coolest and that Suoh Mikoto is so amazing. Naturally Fushimi is not quite as excited as Yata is, he doesn't really care about his reputation or anything like that but seeing Yata staring at someone else with shining eyes makes him feel irritated and on edge.

Fushimi decides that the best way to handle this is to show that he's superior to Mikoto, like Mikoto's just an upperclassman anyway and he's clearly not anyone that impressive, Fushimi feels like he should easily be able to show off how much cooler he is than that punk. Except imagine Fushimi just failing at all these things because what Yata thinks is cool about Mikoto is like totally opposite of what he thinks is cool about Saruhiko, like Mikoto's this awesome guy who never looks like anything bothers him and he can punch people super hard and look at how he's breaking the rules and smoking all the time at school. Fushimi attempts to try a cigarette and ends up coughing and choking while Yata runs over and pounds on his back and it's very not cool. Fushimi then tries to punch a guy during one of Homra's brawls, not strategically or using weapons like he normally does, and instead just ends up with a sore hand and he doesn't even knock the guy down. Imagine Fushimi looking at Mikoto one day as Mikoto's like sleeping in a classroom and thinking how the hell does Misaki think this guy is cooler than him, like what is Fushimi even supposed to do to get Yata's eyes on him if Fushimi can't even beat this loser.

Fushimi doesn't really like admitting when he's lost but obviously he's irritated and getting down on himself, like if Mikoto's worthless than clearly Fushimi's even more worthless and he should just give up on Misaki entirely. Class is nearly ready to start and Fushimi doesn't feel like going, he slips into an empty room and just sits on the floor muttering to himself. That's when someone comes up beside him all 'It seems you could use some advice, Fushimi-kun.' Fushimi starts and jumps to his feet, not understanding how he didn't even realize this guy was in the room with him. Class President Munakata Reisi beams at him and Fushimi demands to know how Munakata knew his name, Munakata pushes up his glasses as he says of course he knows the name of a talented underclassman. Fushimi clicks his tongue at the 'talented,' muttering under his breath that he can't be that talented or he could defeat 'that guy.' Munakata says he's been observing Fushimi and believes he could be of help. Fushimi's skeptical and Munakata notes that Suoh Mikoto has been something of a 'project' for him since middle school, Munakata intends to turn Suoh into a functioning student no matter how hard he must work. However he's had difficulty keeping Suoh on task as of late due to a Yata Misaki often being present, and therefore Munakata believes their objectives may be aligned. (Fushimi's all like '….so you actually have a crush on Mikoto-san?' and Munakata's glasses shine all dangerously like 'absolutely not,' he just wants to make Suoh into a proper student and assure he graduates and maybe pin him down in a classroom eventually and get very close to him).

Hijinks then ensue as Munakata decides that he is going to assist Fushimi-kun in showing Yata Misaki how superior Fushimi is to Suoh Mikoto. Fushimi kinda suspects this is a bad idea when Munakata's first suggestion involves him joining the Student Council, like this feels very ulterior motive and Munakata assures him that Munakata's cause is pure. Munakata decides that with his training Fushimi will become someone so superior that Yata Misaki will surely be charmed by him, except this training involves things like memorizing ancient haiku and learning how to do 10000 piece puzzles in five minutes. Fushimi's beginning to suspect that Munakata is just making him less cool than Mikoto, like do you even understand what cool is. Meanwhile though Yata's been noticing that Fushimi's spending an awful lot of time with the student council president and it's not like he's jealous but if that guy makes one wrong move towards Saruhiko Yata's gonna kick his ass. Even as Yata's thinking that imagine Munakata gets right up in Fushimi's personal space and Yata ends up breaking in the door, suddenly incensed without even really knowing why. Munakata is amused that Yata is so intense, moving even closer to Fushimi as he speaks, and Yata gets all flustered and is like anyway what are you doing to Saruhiko. Munakata leans right down so his face is inches from Fushimi's, Fushimi glaring at him like what are you even doing and Yata ends up blurting out 'Saruhiko is mine, okay?!' as Munakata's like mission accomplished.

(1/3) I have this Au where Fushimi is a "child of the slate", he was just willed into existence and Kisa was a medium. He's born as an archive of cultural and historical knowledge of the slate, as well as all its past kings up until Shiro. He's even got slight authority over the slate, he can take away strains power and temp disable clansmen powers, but he can't affect kings. The gold clan try to pry him for information, but he's very aware of the knowledge he holds and tells them nothing.

Somehow I can absolutely see Fushimi insulting people in Slate language XD I like this idea, imagine the Slate like reached out when Kisa was pregnant and sorta resonated with her child somehow. Or maybe it happened after he was born, like imagine when Kagutsu’s Sword fell say little Fushimi happens to be near Mihashira rather than Tsubakimon and at the moment the Sword falls the Slate ‘cries out’ and ends up syncing with Fushimi in a way beyond how it normally syncs with a King. Fushimi is immediately filled with all this knowledge that his five year old brain can’t even entirely handle, all this history of the Slate and what it can do, and it even changes his physical appearance a little, like one of his eyes has a sigil inside that looks like the Slate. Kokujouji becomes aware that something happened with the Slate and that part of the Slate’s sentience now rests inside a human but he doesn’t know who, which is how Fushimi manages to escape his notice for a while.

Eventually they find him though, like to converge this with the series say it’s while Fushimi’s in middle school that the Golds find him. He’s all attached to Yata by this point but he’s never told even Yata about his connection with the Slate, thinking Yata won’t believe him. When the Golds take him to Kokujouji they want to erase everyone’s memories of him too, like Fushimi’s knowledge is too important to just leave him lying around where any King could find him. Fushimi scoffs that it doesn’t matter if Niki and Kisa forget him but he won’t help them at all if they make Misaki forget and so Yata alone is allowed to keep his memories of Fushimi. Kokujouji sets him up with a room in Mihashira and treats him like a young lord, telling him that he’s a respected person, but Fushimi bitterly realizes that this is basically a prison now. Kokujouji and the Rabbits always press him for information on the Slate but Fushimi won’t tell them anything, only speaking in riddles if he speaks to them at all, and he hates being cooped up in here. He’s continually aware of the Slate though, especially being this close to it, and when Yata joins Homra Fushimi just knows the moment it happens. 

Fushimi is used to people only wanting him because of his Slate powers but then when Munakata becomes Blue King and visits Mihashira he takes an immediate interest in Fushimi. Fushimi isn’t a Gold clansman but say Kokujouji uses him somewhat like a bodyguard anyway, so Fushimi’s trained with his knives and he even does a lot of IT work for the tower. Kokujouji tells him he isn’t a captive and is free to go anywhere but Fushimi feels like there’s nowhere for him to go, even if he didn’t hate his parents they don’t remember him and he isn’t even sure if Yata still remembers him at all either. When Munakata approaches him Fushimi assumes this is just another person wanting the power of the Slate and not him but Munakata surprises him, while Munakata knows about the Slate connection he’s much more interested in Fushimi’s own talents as a hidden weapon user and a hacker, and offers Fushimi a place in his clan. Fushimi initially doesn’t believe him but Munakata is nothing if not persistent and Fushimi ends up joining S4, he’s wary at first but soon it becomes clear that Munakata really doesn’t care that much at all about Fushimi’s Slate powers (and now Kokujouji gets to be salty that Munakata stole his child).

He eventually meets Yata again and Yata’s thrilled to see him but imagine this happens right around S1 so Yata knows some about Mikoto’s Sword deteriorating. Maybe he overheard Kusanagi talking about it and Yata thinks he can ask Saruhiko to find a way to save Mikoto-san, there’s nothing Fushimi can do though and of course he’s bitter that Yata even asked, assuming Yata’s only interest in him is for the powers he has and not that Yata sincerely missed him. When ROK happens I imagine Hisui is just as interested in Fushimi as he is the Slate (and possibly even when Fushimi first left Mihashira with Munakata Hisui attempted to contact him but wasn’t able to do much without getting Munakata suspicious). Say the Slate can’t even be fully awakened without Fushimi present and that’s why Hisui wants him, instead of Fushimi joining the Greens say he gets kidnapped instead and like chained to the Slate, and now the three clan alliance isn’t just trying to stop Hisui they’re all working together to try and save Fushimi too. When Kusanagi finds a way to destroy the Slate in Shiro’s notes both Munakata and Yata are hesitant because no one knows if this will destroy Fushimi as well — but then at the same time in this AU Munakata is willing to sacrifice to destroy the Slate if need be as long as it doesn’t cause Fushimi’s death, because that may be the only way to free Fushimi from its influence at last so he can live his own life.

Oh gosh I just read your response to someone asking about Saru dating someone so normal [coffee shop dude]. I so need alphabet squad and Yata stalking the guy and seeing Saru do such normal stuff. Like holding the door open for them, or holding their hand, putting hait behind his boyfriend's ear, or even laughing. I need more of this AU pls and thank you! You're the best!

New Fushimi rare pair dropped, Fushimi x Random Guy XD Following this, imagine Fushimi just dating this totally normal guy on the side throughout the entirety of the series. Then post-ROK when he's all healed up from jungle and seems in a better headspace now seems to be the time for Yata and various interested alphabet boys to make a move. Except that's when they find out that somehow Fushimi is already dating someone, like imagine Yata just skateboarding around the city and one day he happens to spot Fushimi leaving a coffee shop. Yata raises his voice to say hi and that's when he sees that Fushimi was holding the door open for some random guy who Fushimi then smiles at (sincerely even! Not sarcastically at all!) and leans in to give the random guy a kiss on the cheek. They hold hands and exchange loving glances and Yata promptly runs into a telephone pole.

The next time Yata stops by Scepter 4 he immediately finds an alphabet boy to interrogate, like imagine Hidaka says hi to him and Yata runs up to him like 'So, uh...about the guy Saruhiko's dating...' and Hidaka's like wait wait who's dating Fushimi-san what. Yata's surprised that Hidaka didn't know and they end up going to stake out the coffee shop, where they get to see Fushimi picking up his boyfriend and being all loving and openly affectionate and Hidaka's like are they holding hands what is this. Yata can't believe that Hidaka didn't know and now they have to check with the rest of Scepter 4. It turns out no one knew but they all do now and everyone needs to see this for themselves, that poor coffee shop is suddenly the subject of a giant sting operation as Yata and the entire alphabet squad surround the place just to observe Fushimi and his boyfriend. No one trusts random guy boyfriend at all either, like Yata's half convinced that this is some secret jungle trick while the alphabet boys are voting Infatuation Strain. No one can believe that Fushimi has just been having a totally normal relationship with a totally normal guy all this time, like this guy must have superpowers or something there is no other explanation.

Mikoreisarumi where Mikoto is the heater during winters as the others cuddle him while doing whatever work they have and Reisi is the cooler in summer because of his blue aura. Imagine Mikoto sitting with Saru on his lap and YataMuna on either side and the position is switched in summers with Reisi XD On the side note I one saw this ask on your blog about them taking a nap together but i can't find it now so can you please share that link if you can find it ^^;

Hmm, is this the nap one? I don't have a lot under the four of them tagged ^^;; Maybe Fushimi and Yata can take on the cooler/heater roles too but that's only for like normal days, on the absolute coldest and hottest days only the power of a King will do. Fushimi especially gets needy during the winter, he hates being cold and will complain about it under his breath the moment the weather starts to turn. He's so skinny too he has no insulation, when he's trying to work at home during cold winter days he'll just be curled on the couch in a hoodie and scarf shivering and trying to type with pale white hands. Mikoto likes to just walk over and drag Fushimi onto his lap, Fushimi complains but also easily rests against Mikoto's chest as he keeps working. Eventually Munakata shows up in a nice sensible sweater with some coffee and settles himself without a word on Mikoto's other side, doing his own work and enjoying the heat. Yata's in a bit better shape due to his own powers but say he comes home after a long day of teaching skateboarding lessons outside and his face is all red from the cold. He sees the other three on the couch and just gets this wide grin as he hops up on Mikoto's other side, like there's nothing better for warming up than Mikoto-san after all.

In the summer situations are reversed, Fushimi has trouble with the hot days too (he's so delicate). Munakata sees that coming, the two of them will come home from work and Fushimi's already woozy from the heat. He complains about having to work outside on such a hot day and Munakata says that they do not always have a choice with their work, urging Fushimi to come sit on the couch with him. Munakata decides they can do some of their work together, pulling Fushimi into his lap and using his Blue power to cool Fushimi a bit. Maybe this lets Fushimi kinda 'sync' his power with Munakata's so now there's a nice cool spot in the middle of the living room. Of course this calls Mikoto, who was napping in the other room, it's hard to get a good sleep when it's this sticky out so he just flops wordlessly on the couch with his head on Munakata's shoulder. As soon as Yata gets home he grabs a cool drink for everyone and joins them, running a hand idly through Fushimi's hair as he hands everyone their drinks. They all sit there in peaceful silence enjoying the nice cool Blue around them and even Fushimi has to admit that it's nice having his own personal temperature regulators around.

reading through the "Dark AU" tag and maybe you've already answered this but if you haven't I have a burning (no pun intended) question: does "Dark" Yata get as nervous around girls as canon Yata? because the thought of that is just. really funny. will beat up anyone who disrespects mikoto but cannot ask a woman for directions.

...I hadn't thought about that but I'm going to go with yes XD Like imagine Dark AU Yata is this super violent thug type character, if anyone says a single thing bad about Mikoto Yata will happily squish their head like a melon with his baseball bat. Other gangs totally fear him, everyone knows that in a fight Yata won't stop until either all his opponents are dead or he himself is. Like the rest of Dark Homra he's known as this terrifying gang member who won't hesitate to stoop to violence to get what he wants and he's got like this fanatical devotion to Mikoto, to the point that even his own fellow clansmen will likely get beaten up just for saying something slightly less than praising about Mikoto in Yata's presence. He's a dangerous unpredictable force of pure violence that most normal people would be too afraid to ever provoke, and even members of other gangs try to keep away from him.

And also, he can't handle women in any way, shape or form. Just imagine Dark!Yata, terrifying and wild and willing to beat up anyone just because he can...and then a high school girl walks by and asks him if he knows what time it is and suddenly he's blushing and stuttering and probably calling her 'ma'am' and just doing a complete turnaround from how he was before. It's like the one thing that he and normal Yata have in common – imagine one of those scenarios where Dark!Yata escapes into the normal K world and he's causing all this trouble and maybe trying to like hunt down Fushimi and normal Yata is doing whatever he can to stop his evil self. They end up face to face in a final battle, both of them bloody and bruised but neither one willing to give up. Yata punches his dark self through the window of a nearby building and jumps in after him, ready to end this once and for all – except it turns out the business is a strip joint, a bunch of scantily clad women are staring at them both, and both Yatas just go bright red and scream like five year olds, grabbing each other by the hand and running out of the building at top speed.
