like I know "gigi" is a common boomer/gen x affectation around not wanting to be called "grandma" that has entered and is now firmly entrenched in the popular parlance, using it as a punchline is out of date now but would have been valid around 10-20 years ago... but... "yiayia" is just greek...?

#i think it's all in good fun but some of y'all being mad weird lol #anyway. much to think about! no plans to have kids myself but the logistics + various difficulty of names is a lot to consider #like there's phonological stumbling blocks at play for kids that's the part I find more interesting & compelling here #and I loathe meemaw peepaw papaw mamaw and big mama big daddy big papa type shit. my most anti southern trait lmfao don't pmo #but there are hierarchies to consider in terms of grandparents picking competing names & if there is already a tradition established #like if they already have grandkids on one side & then you have kids so now you have a weird name already grandfathered in (no pun intended)#or one person's like ''well I'm already gigi'' and they don't do that black thing I mentioned before of ''grandma x grandma y grandma z''#same title different names #and then they don't wanna share titles #families are weird I guess
