dotHack//Genshin Impact

Gonna do periodic reblogs adding more each time, because I have SO MANY ideas and nowhere near the time to do anything with it. So I'll just tag the ships in each post that it's focusing on, and cry at the fact I'll never have time to write it in full. Might attempt one-shots?

Anyway. First one is XiaoVen, for I am weak and they are cute. (Might even write the occasional random chapter...)

It's basically a modern day setting, but majority of the characters play a MMORPG known as, "Teyvat." (Instead of, "The World") So it goes back and forth between the two.

Venti's first character he makes is Barbatos - a Flick Reaper class. (Reason: there is no archer class. I considered a Macabre Dancer, but went with Flick Reaper because a, it looks cool and b, Barbatos reminds me of Zelkova from the G.U. games. It's a vibe, I can't explain it further). He founds the Favonius Guild, of which is initially known for how relaxed it is.

Venti's second character is ToneDeafBard, a Steam Gunner (the closest to an archer class). He creates this one when the Favonous Guild deviates too far from his original intentions, and he needs a break from it.

Unfortunately, he ends up having so much fun on his new Player Character (PC) that he hasn't really logged back in to his Barbatos PC in... A long time.

Xiao's first character is Alatus, a Lord Partizan (closest thing to a Polearm) that joined his pseudo-adoptive father's guild, Guardian Adepti. (This version is based on his beta design)

Xiao's second character is VigilantYaksha, of which he created initially to experiment with the Adept Rogue class (of which I went with 100% because Xiao and Haseo have similar hair styles and the whole, "hard exterior, soft interior"). When he found out about Venti making a new PC, he offered to use this one as it was a lower level but still high enough to be helpful.

Venti and Xiao met through Zhongli, and for Xiao it was love at first sight but he was too shy to really say anything. Zhongli picked up on it, and as he knew both played, would invite Venti to join their party, or to come over and all 3 play in the same room. Over time Venti started to fall for Xiao, but neither will say anything. Everyone else seems to know, and there are bets. No one will interfere, as it'll result in getting disqualified.

Venti has a dog named Dvalin that is a Newfie, and does in fact sometimes sit on Venti to prevent him from leaving. (I considered Dvalin being a Rottie since they are big softies but people typically find them scary due to bad owners which is perfect given Dvalin's lore, but... Giant fluffy won)

Venti (26, it's a joke on us knowing Barbatos is at least 2600) has graduated from college/uni, but I've no idea what his degree is, what his job is. Xiao (23, as while I considered doing 20 to keep with Genshin we know, I didn't want much of an age gap? And the game's lore about adepti is opening their "third eye," so 23) and no idea what he's studying in college/uni, but he doesn't have a part-time job due to Zhongli wanting him to focus on school.

Xiao's roommate is Itto, and from the outside most people don't understand how that works. There's probably a story behind how it happened, but haven't decided how just yet. But the Xiao and Itto friendship is art. (Thank you, Chasm quest)

Venti shares a single bedroom apartment with his twin, Carmen (Nameless Bard, name taken from Venti's constellation title). The couch is a pull-out, and sees the most use from Xiao and Vanessa. Sometimes Venti and Carmen and Dvalin.

Venti and Xiao found themselves coming up with a role-play for their new PCs, both wanting to maintain a connection to their main PCs and to play the game's story but with some tweaks. Venti's ToneDeafBard (TDB, or just "Bard") is a reincarnation of Barbatos, but doesn't have any memories of that life but he is tasked with reviving the Goddess Istaroth (instead of Aura from the dotHack games). He is assisted by Xiao's VigilantYaksha (VY, or "Lord Yaksha"), who was requested by Zhongli's Morax to protect TDB.

TDB and VY may or may not be flirting, with both Venti and Xiao trying to decide is this okay??? It's okay if their CHARACTERS are flirting, right?? That's a normal thing to do? It totally isn't their individual crushes bleeding through and influencing the story or creating a forbidden love subplot or anything.

And since this is a dotHack-inspired Genshin AU, obviously there must be a quest to save someone who fell into a coma and may or may not be trapped in game.

While playing one day, Venti gets a message from Carmen asking for help. Obviously Venti assumes his twin means outside the game, and goes to check on him. Finds Carmen unresponsive, headphones still on. Venti rushes him to the hospital, terrified and worried sick. During this, he keeps getting notifications from his game's app. After a few stressful days, he goes to check it and then delete it but...

All the messages are from Carmen's PC, NamelessBard. And every single message says, "help me," or, "find me," at the base.

So Venti does.

i haven't played genshin seriously in MONTHS, i log on yesterday think to myself, eh i have guaranteed pity coming up, i kinda want wriothesley, what can like 5 pulls do?

so i pull two three star weapons, then c6 my sayu, then another 3 star weapon. i think to myself, eh just one more to build pity, what's the harm in that it's not like i'm gonna get- WHAT THE FUCK??? WHY IS IT GOLD??? and lo and behold what appears on my screen??? THIS MOTHERFUCKER!!

I HAVE BEEN WAITING. 2 FUCKING YEARS FOR THIS MOTHERFUCKER????? I SPENT ACTUALLY MONEY TRYING TO GET HIM THE FIRST TIME???? AND HE HAS THE AUDACITY TO COME HOME NOW???

don't get me wrong i am THRILLED i have loved this little freak for AGES and he's FINALLY here but BROOOOO THE ONE TIME I DIDN'T REALLY EVEN WANT YOU???? he's the goofiest of all time i'm so glad he's home i've had shit for him stockpiled for YEARS

also i think it's funny that the primos i used to pull for him i got in the battle event that's going on right now, that feels pretty on brand for him.

All of my OCs

I just wanna share my OCs today :) You can find them and their artwork on my refsheet (NSFW warning there) but here's the basics and some images.

I try to use only my own art for all of these but I HAD to share the Amea x Zant commission because it is one of my absolute faves. I scoured my entire back log of bought commissions because they didn't put their name on the art but I think it was this person?? If not them then... they may have deleted their account from where I bought it.

Saphira Nightingale, my main tippy top OC

A shapeshifter and the last of her kind. I use her for lots of original stories as well as series where I don't have a dedicated character. The rule of thumb is "if she has clothes, it's an AU".

Mako Bianchi, Saphira's ex

A reaper that I used to pair with Saphira. She is now with other people and he is back to being the guy I draw sexy because I crave men. It's a toss up whether he's a skeleton or an elven winged man at any given moment.

Valus Nesrine

An incubus I used for my original novel. You can read about him there and in a short story, but they're both pretty naughty hahaha. He's charming and sweet. I love writing him.

Thorne

A mothman and the focus of some more stories. He's a bastard. But a sexy bastard. Honestly, that's all he has going for him.

Tarine

A bio android OC for Dragon Ball. She's mostly just there for pairing with Piccolo, lmao. But she did have some cool fights in the server where she was made.

Majin Mani

Same boat as Tarine, but for more of a "I like messing with these guys" vibe than the former. Mani was made for Dragon Ball Xenoverse so she is a time cop (ranger? whatever they were called)

Amea

A mercenary in Twilight Princess. I have her for an AU specifically but she is my Zant lover OC. She is half Twili and half Hylian. Does that work? Not really, but I really loved the idea.

Arin Ferris (and all of her Pokemon)

Arin is an Ex Rocket (which placed her at around 30 at the time so that's just her age now) and now owns a daycare off the coast of Hoenn. I like giving her the poison aesthetic but she doesn't use too many poison types.

Lia (Alix) Bech

A keyblade wielder who kinda sucks at fighting. She far prefers staying out of fights. Yeah she's just here to bang the organization. But she also has identity issues :D

Pire

More of an "everyday" OC for Zelda. I use her in all other Zelda games while Amea is for Twilight Princess only. She is a tech whiz and she makes mechs, hahah. And this was before TOTK was even announced!

Celeste Wade

An OC for Final Fantasy 9. She's a noble in Treno and she captures monsters to sell as pets and manor security. So she packs quite a punch without lookin like she can! I haven't designed her monster hunting get up yet.

Boriell

You know Lawachurls from Genshin Impact? Well I didn't like the game, but I loved these guys <3 So I made one for myself. He's the only remnant of my Genshin knowledge.

Velka, the Arcta Knight

My Kirby OC. She is a bad guy and I use her to antagonize everyone in the game. She has a vendetta against Meta Knight. And she got her powers illegitimately from Nightmare.

Thalia Vanfin, another favorite

A fishwoman bar owner/bounty hunter. Yep! Another one for shipping. But I love writing her encounters and drawing her being cute with people. Not always romantically but mostly romantically.

Fatei

Monster man with mask face and tentacles~ He's got a human form since he was turned into a beast like everyone else. But I usually only draw his monster form.

Dia "Dragoon" Chambers

A depressed college student who uses the Dark World as escapism from her life. Anything that makes her feel like she doesn't have to go back home. She comes with some friends! Laguna the Rogue and Phish!

Laguna the Rogue

Phish does not have any character traits beyond "is an Addison", but here's Laguna! She was originally made for an Undertale AU but now she's just a crazy ass monster and the only one looking out for Dia.

Hello! cookie anon here, dropping by again to say that I hope you're doing well ! The holidays are fast approaching and from where I live, literally ever street corner is decorated with christmas lights, parols, and decorative streamers - which is honestly so fun to see (altho I do question their electricity bills but hey, as long as its colorful i'm cool with it!)

how have you been with your deadlines? i hope that you're free from some of it! if not, i'm giving u energy and motivation to push through and finish ur tasks, I believe in you! but anws, remember to take care of yourself and remember that your wellbeing comes first and foremost.

moving on, remember when i told you that i've started a writing blog like months ago? it was under the name enchantingries - i deleted it a few days ago </3 mainly because i lost motivation for writing + i haven't even been able to play genshin for a while, which is a shame :(( i fortunately saved my writings somewhere so they at least won't go to waste.

but hey, at least i tried it! and it was fun for a while, so i wish i'll find the passion to write and come back again soon !!

Hello dear cookie anon!

I’m so glad to hear from you again! And I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying the Christmas decorations! I have to admit I’m a total sap for the holiday decorations and music and all that, so seeing the lights around here is also so fun, it makes so happy, a bit like I’m a kid again. Although I too question the electricity bill haha

And I’ve been alright! I got a big eam done and another project and the big paper I’m working on has a pretty good extension time. Though I also have a final and catch up homework and then stuff due at the beginning of next year, but let’s not think about that (because if we do I’ll cry haha). And thank you for believing in me! It definitely does five me the energy I need to push througha nd just get this done. I’ll be so happy when I can stop analyzing 17th century pamphlets T-T

And I’m sorry that you lost motivation for writing and playing! I have to admit I’ve not been playing as much recently too, though mainly because of work. I logged on to do more of the event (I’m going to have to speedrun it again) and I got such a wave of nostalgia. Though I do think that Genshin is a game that’s deceptively easy to get burnt out on, no matter how advanced in the game you are. It’s hard because the story is great but life, well, it keeps going. Still I’m glad you saved your writings! It’s never a waste to create something, no matter what, no  matter if you lose interest or if you look back and think you’ve improved. Writing, no matter what it is, is always a good thing. It helps you grow as a person after all! 

What matters is you try and enjoyed it! And I’m sure one day it will come back. It took me ages to write again after the first time I stopped (when I truly burnt out). I have requests on my main account that are from 2017! And it took to the pandemic to truly write again. But even if I took that break from fic and from fiction writing (mostly) I am still so proud of where I am now, and I love it. So don’t worry about not writing for a while. You’ll grow and get new ideas and experiences and hey! Maybe one day writing will call for you again in a new or old way! Don’t beat yourself up about it is the only thing. 

And omg I hope you don’t have to wake up early tomorrow! I hope you get some lovely rest and that you feel alright. It’s always lovely to hear from you cookie anon, I hope that you never worry about that. Have a lovely week and I hope that you enjoy your holidays to the fullest!
