Was looking at refs and since Viktor has two different leg braces I was wondering, do we think he wears them simultaneously?? The refs don't perfectly line up perspective-wise so it's hard to tell but parts of the one he wears during the Hexcore scenes look like they could maybe line up with the brace that he wears over his clothes, but also some parts really don't and look like they'd be super uncomfy. Also HOW does he take these on and off. Experts weigh in

a rough basic idea for a centaur character i have had floating around in my head for a long time, it doesnt fit with my main OC world but wouldnt call this another project bc its literally just "what if centaurs bc centaurs kinda cool" with little story or worldbuilding other than its all centaurs lol

(the only background is really a vaguely noble couple wanting to hire a new soldier/guard after their previous one is retiring but not being able to afford any highly valued ones (build, color, training- the kind of things horses are often priced with) so they opt for the cheapest to hire they can find which is this enormous draft centaur (vaguely based on the blue roan coat type) that no one wants bc he doesnt talk and never really responds otherwise to being talked to (so he dumb haha (he isnt)- to be clear he DOES what he is told but he doesnt like, sign an ok, he just "stares" and then wordlessly does it), doesnt have any well known parents and is too big to fit comfortably in most buildings, also a little unkept (mostly just in his fur looking pretty rough, not caring much for treating scratches etc- though its not that clear in this sketch)

over time said couple both falling for him, completely seperately/not aware the other also has, bc they actually started to get to know him instead of just going with what he was "sold" as and treating him accordingly (badly)- leading to him being caught in a very awkward "triangle" he doesnt know what to do with and just goes along with everything (hes very calm and stone faced in public but privately socially awkward, always been extremely lonely/isolated and never had to deal with any sort of interest in him as a person instead of just how much he can pull/work until collapsing)

Tiny little pitcher!

I have absolutely no idea what this is good for, tbh. One serving of milk for your tea, if your mug isn't too big? Using as a vase for very small flowers? Just decoration? idk! Would love to hear if anyone has any ideas -- I use small bowls a lot, but I'm curious what people might use tiny pitchers for, if anything!

Anyway I was on a kick of making tiny things last month, so I ended up making a bunch of little bowls and jugs in both white and black clay. Expect more posts with 'em!

TLDR: Got any drawing exercises to recommend?

I’m in loooove with the way you use lines, shapes and colors/shading to show form in your art. The way you draw bodies shows a lot of understanding of the shapes that go into them, and that’s something I often personally struggle with. I’m familiar with the shapes of a face, but when it comes to connecting them to the shapes of the body and so on, I get frustrated that it’s jumbled instead of cohesive.

I was wondering, when you’re looking to practice, whether that’s anatomy, line-making, still life shapes or whatever, do you have any exercises you’ve done and would be willing to share? I’ve been trying to crawl out of the no-art-depression-hole for a bit and want to start with things that don’t take much willpower but help me improve

I might be the worst person to ask this! My relationship with art is not typical and I do not practice mindfully! (I just draw whatever I want and that's my practice, y'know?

Anyways, here's my progress of how I learnt to draw :3

Step 1 is proportions - breaking up the human body into manageable blocks and pieces. And step 2 is learning the muscles that build up the body, and from there you can simplify as needed... Or do that thing anime art kids do and skip directly to the simplified bit! (You probably shouldn't do that but if it's a hobby who cares!)

For specific tutorials, I find that proko is probably the best mix of entertaining/educational content you can find, but aside from that I watch a lot of speedpaints.

As a sort of get rich quick scheme, I think the absolute easiest way to get stupidly good at art is studying perspective - but you at least need a basic understanding of proportions and anatomy before you can draw someone in a funky perspective.

Everything in life is in perspective, and every piece of work you will ever make will have perspective in it. Perspective is sort of like an all-encompassing thing in our reality that you don't realise is there, and maybe even not realise is missing in your work (just that something feels... Wrong) AND LIKE NOBODY EVER TALKS ABOUT IT! WHAT THE FLIP!!!

I don't really have a specific source for learning perspective, because I've been on-and-off trying to wrap my head around it for a few years (I'm still awful at it but I'm getting there...!) here's a video!

I do think that drawing with progression in mind might help, but I think with art (as a hobby) the most important thing is probably love for a special guy and joy of creation. You have to love what you're drawing and the simple act of creating, or it just won't work out. If you're in a depression hole maybe just try creating for the sake of it, and don't give yourself too many expectations :)

I got my visible armband today! It says it will take a few days to adapt and start offering personalized heart rate zones but that means right now sitting totally still if I laugh even a little I'm in the exertion range Which on the one hand I do find it kinda funny but on the other hand probably means it's a good thing I've been taking time to sit still and rest and recover for a bit even though I am having trouble with it

Quick tip to anyone who is going through the horrors of learning to draw human bodies.

Don't look at the thousands of overly complicated anatomy tutorials, at least not to begin with.

Look instead to urban sketchers. Trust me on this. Urban sketchers have to get those shapes and proportions down on paper quickly and correctly.

Build shape memory before you start to look at where that one muscle goes when the arm is in that one specific position. Come back to that later.

Oh and I hate to say it but keep those urban sketcher tricks in the back of your mind and then draw figure studies every single day. It sucks at first but three of those every day for a week or two and you'll be able to draw human bodies. Pinky promise.

Sorry it's not exactly a tutorial, but just a rough step by step. I generally start with the eyes, then I do the overall face shape. I go fixing it as I draw in the mouth, then do the rest of the head and other details.

As for expressions, it might help if you draw it on something more familiar first. I'm more accustomed to drawing anime style people, so I'll use that as an example. Pay attention to the shape of the eyebrows, the eyes, and the mouth. It'll become easier to translate that into the way you draw these guys!

Just Admit It- Part 1

I've been playing around with possible friendship dynamics of the Beast Council for fun!! I love imagining what kind of childhood they could have in the Forgotten Land all together.

What if Carol and Sillydillo are the fun-loving extroverts? Leon is the introverted one who's been smitten by Carol for a really really long time but he's too shy about it? And Gori is the friend who is an excellent observer and will bluntly tell you what he thinks (and maybe has a tendency to get grumpy when things aren't easily going his way).

Somewhat of a prequel to this other doodle comic about Leon and Carol- everyone here is still a kid ^_^

Part 2

Okay! This one is less rendered than the other two, but here's some doodles of Tulpa figuring out how to co-exist! (Aka Fresh not taking training seriously while Dream is trying desperately to get his friends to think he's normal.)

When Dream first returns to the Star Sans', he finds himself in a pickle, because he needs Fresh to move his body. Sure, they made a tentative agreement that Dream trusted Fresh not to break, but Dream hadn't been specific enough with the guidelines.

Fresh pilots Dream's body based on the commands from his soul, but more often than not Fresh simply decides not to listen. Sometimes when they're training, Fresh will suddenly make Dream fumble his bow or send an arrow flying way off-target. Dream is always frustrated by this, unaware that Fresh it doing it for his own good and is forcing the guardian to take a break.

Blue was also made aware of Fresh very early on. One day he was passing the kitchen where Dream was cooking and spotted how Fresh's little form was wiggling out of the hole on Dream's skull. Blue made Eye-contact with Fresh, but said nothing since it seemed like Dream was aware and didn't mind. He waited until Dream told him to acknowledge the parasite directly, but suddenly a bunch of Dream's weird actions made sense to him. Blue regularly makes sure to check in on Dream, before abd after he's aware of Fresh, because he knows Dream works himself into the ground.

Dream (eventually) figures out that Fresh was being clumsy for his sake and nearly cries about it (even his mother and the villagers never did that for him, and Blue was the only other person to ever pull him away from training for his own good) so he gets a bit emotional. He feels bad for how angry he used to get at Fresh for doing that, but Fresh never gave him a proper explanation either, so it was a two-way street.

And while Fresh was lienent around Blue and Ink, he never slipped up around Nightmare's gang. Though, he did fight seriously, which to him might look like goofing off, which is completely separate from Dream's fighting style. (For now Dream uses Arrows and his Bow, but I'm thinking Tulpa has a T-Shirt Canon or a Nerf Gun by the time they make-up.)

Ideally Fresh cannot be seen during combat because he actually pilots from around Dream's soul, but sometimes his parasite form expands to support Dream's weak joints and act like a shock-absorber.
