I do think that it's incredibly telling that in Blood of Eden, Jackal is the most monstrous/vampire-y vampire of the Found Family, and he was the only one of them to die as a direct result of human brutality. I feel like that is an experience that alienates him from everyone else more than anyone gives it credit for.

#blood of eden series #the OTHER monstrous vampire (Sarren) was also a victim of human brutality during the cure experiments #something something humanity creating its biggest villains in the series #Jackal being brutalized by bandits and then forming an army out of them and killing them when they step out of line #Sarren being tortured by scientists and then using their research to nearly end the world and turning their descendant into a puppet #but anyway it is an experience that is unique among the found family #and I don't think Allie or Kanin can fully understand the effect it had on him
