open streets is seriously the best thing this city does
#that being said: every single year I forget what a crowd this draws ahahaha#and honestly it's about the sort of crowd it draws: it draws EVERYONE.#people of all transit modes (bikers/runners/walkers/skateboarders/rollerbladers+skaters/people with strollers/etc.)#and within that -- people of all skill levels#like... lots of families with younger kids; lots of people who maybe aren't familiar with the ~rules of the road~#i.e. ''slower traffic please keep to the right'' ahaha#I called out ''ON YOUR LEFT'' many many times this morning#also this month's route went fully through downtown which meant lots of traffic stops and some seriously bad bottlenecking there#and I also think there were more mandatory ''dismount your bike and walk'' areas than past ones#so between the traffic stops + bottlenecks + walking areas the flow was kinda... y'know#I normally try to do the route 3-4 times but today I just did it once (and it was a long route!) and then ditched to go trail ride hahaha#still fun though!
