just realized something about ambrose and his relationship to his parents that I would LOVE to CHEW ON but he exists in limbo and I don't have the outlets oTL
#although to be fair I don't see this being something that directly comes up in a dnd context anyway#but it could have been something he started to understand and process in the background if he could progress through time 🤔#anyway ambrose's father was an exceptionally warm and loving man and he died when ambrose was pretty young#and mostly I've thought about how his mother's consuming grief over it has affected their relationship#and how growing up in the shadow of that grief shaped him as a person#it is only just now occurring to me how much that has affected his own relationship with his father and his father's memory#he was a brilliant man and a kind man and ambrose ends up studying where he used to teach so people would reminisce about him#but ambrose got so swept up in his mother's despair he almost forgets he lost his father... HIS grief was overwhelmed and subsumed by hers#and like. man. when's he gonna Really Process that he lost both parents overnight and doesn't even feel like he can talk about it#he's been shouldering his mother's burden for so long he doesn't even think about his own#he regrets what the loss did to his mom and to their family more than he actually gets to just... miss his dad#[rattling him around] MY BOY... HAD SO MUCH GOING ON I WANTED TO PLAY HIM SO BAD!!#cause of course all this background had Implications for what he's like and how he would play#and I JUST-- he's INTERESTING he's GOOD SWEET BOI I wanna CHEW ON HIM but circumstances have dictated his campaign is not to BE#and I don't wanna Write A Story I wanna roleplay :') so.... :')#about me#my OCs#ambrose

this could be the year for the real thing
buck/eddie | 1.7k | 7x06 coda(ish)
Eddie can count on one hand the number of times he’s been this horrifically hungover. His pre-teenage-pregnancy body bounced back blessedly quickly from tailgate parties and keg stands and beer pong tournaments, but after that? His cousins threw his bachelor party before he married Shannon, which involved a lot of mixed liquor, and then there were a couple miserable nights out after she left him, and now, last night, him and Buck the sole bachelor party members standing after Chim didn’t show up.
This is his worst hangover, because at least all the other times he wasn’t seized with worry about one of his closest friends and regret that he and Buck hadn’t noticed the empty hotel bed the night before. The nausea from hell doesn’t help, either.
Chim’s safe now, under the careful monitor of Cedars hospital staff and Maddie no more than three feet away from him at all times. The relief is a palpable thing, and Buck offering him a steaming paper cup of green tea soothes the churning in his gut a little bit, too.
He takes a sip and sighs gratefully, slumping against Buck in the hospital waiting room chairs when he takes the seat beside Eddie.
“Still queasy?” Buck asks, voice a rumble.
“Mm,” Eddie says, “back-to-back shots of tequila and sambuca are not it.”
Buck shudders beside him. “Don’t,” he begs, closing his eyes and tipping his head back. “I’m still very much in range of hurling.”
“Have you eaten anything today?” Eddie’d only managed half a banana when he went home to shower and change, but he knows Buck’s been with Maddie most of the day, and when it comes to taking care of other people, he sometimes forgets about himself.
“Had a granola bar,” Buck says, eyes still closed. “Can’t—don’t wanna think about food yet.”
His stomach chooses then to grumble audibly, with traitorously comedic timing, and Eddie snorts. Buck opens one eye to grin at him.
“Don’t listen to her,” he says, patting his belly. “She doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”
“She doesn’t, huh? Then I guess she’s not interested in stopping by the juice bar on Sunset on the way home? Some sweet, sweet smoothies, all that fresh fruit and hydration, don’t even have to chew…”
Buck’s stomach rumbles interestedly and they both laugh.
“That sounds—so good, actually,” Buck admits. “We can pick up the peanut butter one for Chris, he’s always hankering—”
He breaks off as Hen appears at the end of the hallway, looking around and hurrying over as soon as she spots them. Eddie doesn’t think anything’s wrong—she’s beaming—but he and Buck sit up quickly in their seats anyway.
“Ugh,” Buck says, and Eddie’s dizziness at the sudden movement wholeheartedly agrees.
“We’re having a motherfucking wedding,” Hen grins, tugging them both to their feet, uncaring of their delicate dispositions. “Right here, right now.”
“Hospital wedding?” Buck asks, eyes wide. “Holy shit, okay, what do we need—who do we call—fuck—”
“Calm down, Buckaroo,” Hen smiles. “Just get friends and family over here, Karen’s gonna pick up Maddie’s dress, I’m gonna call Bobby, and we’re having a wedding.”
Buck’s already pulling up a copy of the guest list on his phone, squinting at it and muttering names under his breath.
“You boys got this?” Hen asks while dialling Bobby.
“Yep,” Eddie gives her a mock salute. “We’ll split the list and make some calls.”
He types out half the names Buck reads off to him in his notes app, and the two of them work through them methodically, calling Chim and Maddie’s nearest and dearest for this impromptu ceremony.
“Chris will kill us if he misses it,” he says suddenly, and Buck looks up at him, mid-text.
“He’s with Isabel, right? Pepa’s place is only a ten minute drive from here.”
Eddie nods. “I don’t have my car, though. You drove me.”
Buck tosses him the Jeep keys. “I’ll finish calling people, you go get them.”
“Cool,” Eddie says, and nearly bodies himself with the instinctive urge to lean over and kiss Buck on the cheek as he stands. It’s surprising, even though it shouldn’t be, because it’s an urge he fought and failed about thirty times last night, Buck’s sweaty skin pressed to his, salty under his mouth every time he dropped an innocuous, friendly kiss to his face with nothing but alcohol in his veins.
It hadn’t seemed out of place then, everything shiny and bright, Buck leaning right back into him.
Now, under the fluorescents of the hospital, organising a makeshift wedding for their family? Eddie doesn’t think it would land quite the same.
“Back in twenty,” he tells Buck instead, and has to physically tear himself away from the smile Buck turns his way, warm and golden under the harsh lights.
Chris and Abuela are delighted to be included, and, true to his word, they’re back at the hospital as the rest of the guests begin arriving, too.
Eddie’s—okay, he’s not going to say he’s not a crier, it’s just that his best friend is Buck, who cries at anything remotely tearjerky, so in comparison, Eddie’s not a crier. Now, though, they’re both very much damp-cheeked, much like everyone else crowded into this hospital room, watching Maddie and Chim exchange rings and vows with little Jee between them.
They’re a family, have been and would still be even if they never got hitched, but the fact that Chim refused to wait another few weeks, another few days, another minute before marrying Maddie? Eddie’s chest aches in the best way, and he slings an arm around Chris, and, before he knows he’s doing it, he looks for Buck.
The ceremony’s over, and Buck’s grinning at his phone, and Eddie pats for his own automatically, anticipating a goofy text.
But Buck’s edging backward, slipping out of the room, still grinning at his phone, and the ache inside Eddie spreads like an inkstain, blotting his insides.
And then Buck reappears with Tommy, which Eddie knew he was going to do, because who else would have Buck smiling at his phone like that, leaving his sister’s wedding even for a minute. Not me, Eddie doesn’t think. He doesn’t.
He’s not ready to make sense of the churning inside him—he doesn’t think he can blame the hangover for this one—when he clocks Tommy’s soot-stained everything and the way Buck’s own smudgy face matches like a puzzle piece.
He sees the way Chim notices, and Hen and Karen, Bobby’s eyes going wide and then soft. He sees the way Margaret Buckley doesn’t even attempt to school her face into anything but distaste and he hates her, but Buck’s not even looking at her. He’s looking at Bobby, and then he’s looking at Chim, and he’s smiling, this wide, guileless spread of happiness across his face.
Eddie’s helpless to smile too, the churning too complicated to parse beyond easy joy at every step of Buck’s sexuality journey, and this second-hand relief he’s not sure he’s got any entitlement to—he doesn’t, does he? Sure, he can be relieved that Buck doesn’t feel like he has to stay closeted, that everyone who matters loves him just the same, but he doesn’t get to feel like any of the relief belongs to him. Not now.
Not—yet.
Tommy’s made his way to Chim’s bedside to congratulate them properly, and Buck’s squeezing through the guests to get to the Diazes.
“Hey, bud,” he says to Chris. “Hi, Isabel.”
His face is still a smear of soot, and Chris giggles. “Buck. Your face.”
Buck frowns in confusion and Eddie steps over to him, hand already reaching to wipe the soot off his face, just like he has a hundred times at work. Except Tommy’s already there, licking his thumb and rubbing firmly at Buck’s chin, a gesture so familiar to Eddie that watching it happen separate from him feels like getting punched in the throat.
And beside the joy and the second-hand relief, there’s—this sense of profound loss. This emptiness, a space inside him he didn’t realise Buck had been occupying all this time. And now it’s like Eddie’s entered the room, finally, but the door is swinging shut on the far wall and Buck’s footsteps are echoing softer and softer as he leaves. Eddie’s late, he’s missed something he didn’t know was waiting, much less had a timeline on it.
The room empties out slowly, everyone giving the Buckley-Hans some space to rest, and Buck disappears down the hall hand-in-hand with Tommy.
“Y’all ready to go home?” Eddie asks Abuela and Chris. “We can get take-out.”
“Is Buck coming?” Chris asks.
“Uh, I don’t think so, mijo,” Eddie glances down the hall. “Although—” he pats his pocket, retrieving the Jeep keys, and startles when Buck appears by his shoulder.
“You have my keys,” he informs Eddie, stretching his hand out for them. Eddie drops them in his palm dutifully. “Juice bar? The fancy one on Sunset.”
Chris whoops excitedly, and Eddie smiles, even as his brow furrows.
“You’ve not got a hot date?” he asks Buck quietly as they walk to the exit.
“I drove you,” Buck shrugs.
Eddie rolls his eyes, stopping Buck with a hand at his elbow. “I think we can manage getting a cab.”
“I seem to recall you promising me a ‘sweet, sweet smoothie,’” Buck says, raising an eyebrow at Eddie. “You tryna stiff me, Eds?”
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Eddie lifts his hands in surrender. “Uh—do you wanna ask Tommy along?”
“Nah,” Buck says easily. “Maybe another time. He’s just gotten off shift. I’m seeing him tomorrow, anyway.”
“Okay,” Eddie nods slowly, ache bittersweet. “Just us, then.”
Buck beams. “Me and my boys,” he crows, wrapping an arm around Eddie’s shoulders and tugging him forward so he can wrap the other one around Chris. Isabel makes a noise of offense, and Buck hastily amends, “Me and my boys and Abuela. Dream team!”
Christopher groans at the very public embarrassment and Abuela smiles indulgently at Buck and Eddie lets himself get pulled along, safe in this room in his heart that won’t ever be empty, even if Buck’s not filling it in the same capacity as Eddie’s getting ready to allow himself to want.
It doesn’t matter. The door on the far wall’s not quite swung shut after all; it sits ajar, crack of light and Buck’s love spilling through. Maybe one day he’ll come back through it. Maybe one day Eddie’ll follow after him enough to ask.

notes : INSP BY THIS??? CAPTION??? HELLO D-D SUNGHOON WAS TO HOT PASSING AWAY I NEED HIM OHMYGOD. this was supposed to be a horny thought but i got carried away... LMAOOO
also the way this a year old 😭😭 sorry i disappeared on y’all fr … I ALSO FORGOT TO ADD EVERYONE IS LEGAL 18 OR OVER 18 !!
“what?” sunghoon questions when you abruptly disturbed his concentration.
“c’mon it'll be fun, hoon!” you smile at the male. sunghoon grimaced when he heard the endearment, were the the two of you that close?
well, no.
it all started back in the beginning of senior year, only a few months ago, where you first met sunghoon in your sketching class. he was very quiet at first, too quiet for your tastes. i mean, you were the school renowned party girl. you could be seen at any party that your high school held, no matter if you knew the hosts or not. on the other hand, sunghoon was very different from you. he kept to himself, only having a few close friends, yet still was known as the “pretty prince on ice.” after all, he was amazing at figure skating. your personalities were so different; at least at first.
when you asked sunghoon to attend a party with you, sunghoon nearly wanted to run out of the classroom and never talk to you again. why would you want sunghoon to tag along some stupid party with a bunch of horny and drunk adults?
“okay, no. i am not going to a stranger’s party.” sunghoon drops his sketching pencil to look straight at you. “i don’t wanna go.” he finalizes.
you groan quietly, “why can’t you have some fun? i’m sure heeseung, jay, and jake are gonna be there too.” you smile at sunghoon when you mention his friends. he knew you were going to drag them in soon enough.
“i told you, y/n. no. besides, i have practice.” park sunghoon was lying straight out of his mouth. he only had practices sunday through thursday, but of course, you didn't know that. closing up your notebook you took a good look at the boy across from you.
“no wonder you’re a virgin.” you say, barely above a whisper.
“excuse you?”
a slight laugh exits your mouth, “i mean, if you never go to parties, you surely have never dicked a girl down before. if you have, you’re probably terrible at it and you probably haven't even drank or done drugs.” you chew on your bottom lip as you see sunghoon’s face contort from disgust to anger.
park sunghoon was mad. like really mad.
before the boy could say anything, the school bell rang throughout the campus building, cutting off any words that could've left sunghoon’s mouth.
when you packed up your stuff, you lean against your shared table, “i saw how you got mad, if you wanna prove me wrong, pull up to daniel choi’s house. i wanna see you there, hoonie.”
a slight smirk appears on your face to the point sunghoon wanted to smack it off. the fake sweetness that laced your words got him even more annoyed too. oh, he’s going to prove you wrong.
he’s sure of it.
Tumblr media
after the small conversation you had with sunghoon, you wondered why he got so mad. like of course he would since you insulted his sex status, but what made him nearly yell at you? it surely couldn't have just been he was a virgin, right? or the fact he didn't drink or do drugs? it was genuinely the first time you saw sunghoon experience another emotion other than just neutral. even if it piqued your interests, you simply swatted it off your mind.
“hey, y/n!” a voice calls out from you down the hall. you look back and you see jake sim, a friend of yours and sunghoon.
“oh hi, jake! what's up?” jake rarely ever talks to you, even if the both of you had the same calculus class last period.
“hoon’s mad at you.” a slight downturned smile hooks his mouth as he says his words.
you rolls your eyes at him, “i wonder why.”
jake sighs, “he won't say what got him so mad, he just kinda said it was your fault.” the boy shrugs his shoulders as the two of you enter into class.
as the two of you sat down to whatever seat you wanted, you purse your lips, “all i said was he was a virgin because he never went to parties.”
the blond boy stares at you weirdly, as if you said something offensive. “you said what?”
“it’s not that big of a deal, he just can’t take a joke. like if i said that to you, you’d take it lightheartedly, right?” you look at jake expectantly.
“y/n, it doesn’t work like that… besides, what do you know about hoon?” jake scoffs at your previous words.
“let’s see, he’s quiet, ice skates really well... and that’s it. he’s really plain.” you laugh at your own words.
“yeah, and if you were closer to him you’d know he has like four girls on his dick right now.”
what.
“sunghoon? park sunghoon. mr. pretty prince on ice? no way.” your mouth twisted a bit at jake’s sentence. was he really being serious?
“you didn't know? he has a lot of friends with benefits type relationships. all of the girls he’s fucked always say he’s like a sex god.” jake whispers as he sees more students enter into the once empty classroom. “if you don’t change your attitude, he's probably gonna fuck it outta you.” jake jokes before the class bell rang, signaling classes were slowly going to go into session.
for the rest of class, you couldn’t think of a single thought about calc. all you could think was sunghoon.
four friends with benefits? fucked many girls? a sex god? he’d fuck your attitude out of you? what other secrets did sunghoon hid from you? well, you didn't have to take long because just in a few hours, you’ll see.
Tumblr media
the clock strikes 21:35 (9:35 pm), meaning daniel’s party would start soon. daniel, or previously known as yeonjun, was an alumni of the current high school you were attending. you first met him in year 9 (freshman) year when he was in year 12 (senior). he quickly became the older-brother-type friend that you would become closer to as the years pass. even though daniel was committed to his college courses, he still had that high school wild party side in him. so every once in awhile, he’d host parties at his (insanely large) house.
as you take a look at the time, you start to get ready, texting your friends now and then, deciding what to wear. once you finished getting ready, you take a glance at the clock again. 22:18 (10:18pm). perfect.
you finish yourself up and met your friends outside as all of you drove to daniel’s house. even if you were already having fun with your friends, a particular someone stayed in your head. butterflies were swarming your stomach as you kept on thinking of jake’s words, “if you don't change your attitude, he’s probably gonna fuck it outta you.”
what were you thinking? it’s not like sunghoon was going to fuck you... unless?
the smell was just putrid. sex, alcohol, drugs, sex, alcohol, did you say sex yet? it was only half an hour into the party and yet you can see multiple people passed out on daniel's living room couch, a bunch of horny teenagers trying to suck their faces off, a group trying cocaine for the first time, park sunghoon looking so fucking hot, and— park sunghoon? didn’t he have practice?
too dumbfounded by the way sunghoon looked, daniel spotted you. “y/n!” you nearly knocked daniel down by jumping into his arms and hugging daniel. “you’ve grown so much! how’s been senior year?” he asks, trying to stabilize himself from nearly falling back first.
“it’s been great, danny.” the nickname brings a wave to nostalgia as he gives you a red solo cup of some random alcohol you could care less about.
time passes and you surprisingly haven’t drunken much nor did any lines of coke, smoked a blunt, touched molly— you get it. instead, you kept an eye out on sunghoon. as said he has specifically four girls he has his hands constantly. what a player. you internally roll your eyes at the man only a few feet away from you in the kitchen. sure, he was attractive. it’s not like he could pound you until your brain is fucked out in the best way, making sure his cock is brushing so deep in your pussy— what the fuck.
daniel thankfully interrupts your stupid thoughts by pushing you another cup of alcohol, “drink?”
you smile at his completely drunken state, “thanks, danny.”
“i think that should be enough for tonight, sweetheart.” the deep voice made you flinch, making your back hit the person’s chest. it's none other than park sunghoon, in the flesh, looking obnoxiously hot.
“who are you to decide how much i drink?” you quirk an eyebrow at the taller boy, taking a liking to the nickname.
“i just think that some people shouldn’t drink too much.” sunghoon says nonchalantly.
before you can properly retort back something witty, daniel stands on the kitchen counter. “i’m just gonna say this once because i’m probaby gonna be wasted soon but let’s do a cheers because i say so!” daniel was wacked out of his mind but, it was a funny kind of wacky. you raise your cup along with everyone else in the room and cheers with daniel. you take a glace back at sunghoon and instantly regretted it.
as he rose his cup, he bites his lower lip attractively, making his dimples become prominent to the eye. he then downs his drink in one fast gulp, sighing from the alcoholic drink afterwards. “you’re staring too hard, sweetheart.”
“i’m not.” this time you were the one lying out of your mouth. “why would you care? didn’t you have practice to attend? or your little girlies?”
a scoff comes from sunghoon, “sorry i lied, sweetheart. i don’t need them either, i have better things to do.” he presses a hand against the counter next to you, practically caging you in his body.
“like me?” you joke at first.
“yeah, like you.” a smirk appears on his face as he looks down at you. sunghoon knew too well what he was doing. the eye contact was unbearable, your breathing became ragged, and your drink moving around in your cup due to how shaky your hands have gotten. you bit your lip to silence yourself of saying anything more embarrassing.
“where’s that little y/n that teased me for being a virgin, huh? because all i see is a little slut just begging for my cock in her.” sunghoon playfully moans in your ear as he says the word “begging”.
gluping down the nervousness you try to think of something to say, “i’m not begging unless... you... i don't know... fuck the attitude outta me.” you mock sunghoon by moaning “fuck” and restating the words jake told you earlier.
“oh, i will.”
Tumblr media
sunghoon immediately pulls you to a random room upstairs in daniel’s house and pushes you towards the bed, making you bounce lightly on the mattress.
“i’m gonna fucking ruin you.” and that’s what sunghoon did. stripping you from your jeans and panties, he latches his lips over your clit, sucking harshly at the bud. your hands find his black roots, pulling him closer to your cunt.
“so fucking needy, aren’t you? you’re so cock hungry for me, huh? haven’t even done anything but sucking on your stupid clit.” sunghoon mutters against your labia. his voice vibrates against you in the best way possible.
“fuck— yes i am— only for you!” you weakly murmur, unable to create full sentences with the amount of pleasure sunghoon provided. his strong arms wraps around your thighs, pushing you down to the mattress. your legs also find their way around his head, making his tongue fully insert itself into your hot cunt. lapping at your juices, in just a few minutes, sunghoon’s face became all messy. your voice raises in pitch as you sputter out, “coming— sunghoon!”
even if your high came crashing down, sunghoon smirks against your cunt, “yeah that’s right, come for me, say my name when you come.” a smack against your ass rippled through your veins as sunghoon kept on devouring you whole. with that, sunghoon bores his eyes into your as he flattened his tongue right on your cunt. you couldn’t look away. it was too much, you were so close coming undone over sunghoon’s tongue again.
“no— sunghoon— too much— want your cock.” your voice trembled but you tried everything you could to at least sound coherent enough.
“hmm? too much? don’t you mean too good? you’re gonna take everything i give you, got that?”
you felt like you were on cloud nine. even if sunghoon was just eating you out, he looks good doing it. a little too good. a smug smile as he eats you out, his nose and mouth all up in your pussy, and his strong arms hooking under you to make sure you don’t move. everything was so attractive.
with one last flick of his tongue, you came for the second time that night. you weren’t the one who would have multiple orgasms but, you might just have to try it because of sunghoon.
in such a short amount of time, you came twice. all from sunghoon eating you out. jake wasn’t joking around. sunghoon is like a sex god.
your thighs immediately clamp up after sunghoon removes himself from your pussy. he raised up to take off the layers he had on him but he laughs at you once he sees you trying to regain breaths, “awhh, is my tongue too much for you sweetheart? i didn’t even finger you. this stupid little cunt just loves coming, huh?”
one of his hands fiddle with his jeans, taking them off, while the other slides to your slick cunt and slaps it a few times. each time more and more of his saliva and your cum splats on his hands, causing him to get impossibly harder.
“i’m gonna fuck you, gonna fuck you so hard you’re crying for me to fill you up.” sunghoon grunts as he presses his tip on your opening, gaining the wetness on his cock. you simply moan back, you wanted his cock. you wanted to go dumb on his cock. that was all you needed.
once his cock fully slides in you, he takes no chance and starts roughly thrusting into you. it didn’t take that long for you to start moaning his name again. the bed was rocking to his motions, your hands on his chest trying to have some balance while his hands are secure on your thighs; pushing them along to his pace.
“ngh— sunghoon, fuck! more please, please sunghoon i need more—!” you mindlessly babble. you were experiencing so much pleasure, you didn’t even know you wanted more. your brain and your heart were jumbled up together.
“yeah? more? you want more you needy slut? alright, i’ll give you more.” hoon starts peeling off your top and bra, fighting the urge to just rip them off. he then grabs your sensitive nipples and twists them. the shocking pleasure has you nearly screaming for sunghoon. there’s so much happening, you couldn’t care if anyone could hear you outside.
“does it feel good, y/nnn?” slurring his words near the of you name. “look at you shutting your eyes, you love this!” sunghoon laughs as he kept on having a stable pace. his cock is so loose in you and the tip is practically abusing your cervix over and over.
sighing, moaning, groaning, grunting, whimpering was the only thing left in the room. along with sunghoon’s cock in you, of course. you were at the brink of that knot completely snapping in your stomach. it was so close; it was right there. tears even start dripping down to your cheeks, not in sadness or pain. but in delight.
the waves of pleasure were crashing down soon. they were waves crashing slowly. you needed those waves where they’d crash down fast. third orgasm was even better than the first.
“sweetheart, you’re crying? crying on my cock? fuck— you’re desperate to come.” sunghoon grunts as another bead of sweat starts dripping along his hairline. he was on the edge too, he needed it as much as you. a barely heard “mhmm!” escaped your lips as a response.
“god— sunghoon! use me— wanna have your cum in me— please!” you creak out. sunghoon laughs at your poor attempt of talking.
the warm, nearly silky feeling of my white strings of his cum was all in your pussy. snug, full, and filled. sunghoon’s arms gives up and falls right besides you.
“don’t ever say i’m a virgin again.” sunghoon groans as he takes his thrown off t-shirt to clean off yours and his cum off of you and him.
“i was just joking! hoon— fuck. you are a sex god.” you can’t help but laugh a bit.
“sex god??? who told you that.”
“… jake.” you reply.
“whatever, at least i got to prove it to you that i’m not a virgin.” hoon rolls his eyes at you.
“yeah but, i sure don’t think we can still be friends after this.” you sigh, looking at the ceiling above you.
“who said we were?”
“what?”
“who said we were just friends?”
who knew sunghoon wanted to fuck from the start?

Bad Baby | Mark Lee
Summary: Mark starts acting tough to get your attention... so when you dare him to hook up with you, he doesn't back down.
Genre: Best friend Mark, college AU, friends to lovers AU, feat. hottie Jaemin
Word count: 0.7k
Tumblr media
You heard your best friend Mark’s drawl and ran to open the front door. Balloons saying ‘24th Birthday’ filled your hallway.
“Jaemin’s arriving in fifteen minutes, I need you to make me look good-“ you said.
As soon as you saw him, the words stopped dead on your tongue.
Your sweet, pure, best friend Mark was transformed. There was no pale pink hoodie, no cowlick of hair, and definitely no grin.
Instead, you saw a tall boy in front of you, leaning on the doorframe, his dark eyes checking you out with cool interest. A black tracksuit hugged his lean body. It was Mark – a different Mark.
“Hey shawty,” he said, nodding.
You blushed at his unflinching stare. “Mark? Why are you so-“
“So what?” he asked, kicking off his shoes.
“So… not-Mark?” you said.
He shrugged. “Don’t know whatchu mean.”
Swaggering into your kitchen, he opened a can of beer and gulped it down thirstily. The Mark you knew wouldn’t even drink champagne at New Year’s.
Frustrated, you grabbed his spiky hair and fluffed it around. “I don’t- like it-“
Mark caught your hand in his, gazing at you. “You got an opinion on my hair, huh?”
Your eyes widened. You had to admit, it was the kind of thing you would only say about your boyfriend. “No…” you said, stepping away. “I don’t care what you look like- buddy-“
Mark frowned a little, like your cold reaction had hurt him. That was when you realised what was going on. You’d been pining after Jaemin, the hardest boy in the year, for ages. You’d always suspected your best friend Mark had a little crush on you, but frustratingly, he wouldn’t admit it.
Mark was acting like Jaemin to win you over!
In that moment, you knew what you had to do. If he wanted to be hard, so would you.
You looked up at him through your lashes. “Planning on hooking up with anyone tonight?” you said.
Mark chewed his lip. “Maybe.”
You toyed with the string of his hoodie. “Coz I was thinking… you and me should get it on.” You smirked. “I’m hot, you’re hot – why the hell shouldn’t we?”
Mark’s face reddened. “I mean- I’m game if you are.”
You leaned in to Mark’s ear. “Meet me upstairs.”
Five minutes later, you and Mark were sitting on your bed. Laughing lightly, you moved so you were sitting on his lap, straddling him. Mark gulped.
You gazed deep into his brown eyes. “Won’t you kiss me?”
“Of- course-“ Mark stuttered, but sweat was trickling down the side of his face. Your heart was racing. How far was this game going to go? You had expected Mark to give in a long time ago…
Mark leaned in. A few inches more, and his lips would touch yours. You could feel his hot breath on your face. Lightening was flashing up and down your body.
Mark’s lips just brushed yours- then he sprang away, gripping his head in his hands. “Alright!” he said. “I’m not a roadman! I’m not- tough! You win!”
He was fiddling nervously with the cuff of his hoodie. “I’m a dumb romantic, okay? I want the first time I kiss you… to be special. I want there to be candles, and roses, and I want us to say I love you.” He blushed. “I don’t want to… do stuff… yet.”
You crawled over to Mark and pulled him into a hug so tight it knocked the breath out of both of you. “I don’t want you to be tough, Marky. I love you just the way you are – cute and nerdy and scared of fifteen rated films,” you said, laughing.
Mark looked at you, serious now. “You… love me?”
“Of course, you idiot,” you say. “It’s always been you.”
Mark hugged you this time, nuzzling into your neck in a way that sends shivers down your spine. “When you talk about how great Jaemin is, it makes me wanna punch something,” he says.
“Jaemin who?” you said, and Mark laughed.
Mark rested his hands on your shoulders, pink lips pushed into a smirk. “Seriously though. Jaemin can’t give you half of what I can give you.”
You smile, leaning in. “Why don’t you show me, Marky?”

❤️ Hi there! I must say, I am absolutely dying for more of your ZoSopp writings. It just has such a theatre kid x jock form of enrichment for me. How about a kind of… adopting Chopper AU … friends to -I think I might wanna do this family/dad thing with this guy for real- realization prompt.
If that makes sense or has any interest. Really just so into ZoSopp right now 🤩
“My own dad left me and my mom, I have no idea how to raise a child and Zoro-“ Usopp gulps against the humidity in the bar, feeling the air like a physical thing to be chewed and swallowed. “I mean he could do this on his own, probably better. He’a good with kids. I’ll ruin this poor boy.”
Nami reaches out to touch his hand and stop his rambling. He takes a hold of it and clutches it tight, looking at her with wide and panicked eyes. Her gaze is level.
“Usopp, I mean this in the nicest way possible.” She starts, sugar sweet and Usopp exhales shakily. “If you dump Zoro over some perceived inadequacy I will personally murder you.” She tells him.
Usopp freezes, mouth falling open. “I-“
Nami lifts her hand to demand his silence and he shuts his jaw with a click.
“This is scary for both of you. None of us are fit to have children. Zoro thinks drinking rubbing alcohol helps with infection.” She says and Usopp has to conceede that point. “Chopper deserves better. But we are what he got. It’s better than nothing.”
Nami’s gaze is intense and scary but somehow Usopp finds it reassuring. He blows out a breath. “Yeah. Yeah! You’re right.”
“We got this.” She says, letting go of his hand.
“We got this.” He reiterates. “It takes a village, right?” Usopp says and Nami lifts her drink to toast him.
He gets home late that night, creeping into their apartment on his tip toes. There is still light on in the bedroom so he heads there first.
Zoro is lying on his side, the too big sleep shorts low on his hip. The giant ones Franky left here once. His naked back is to the door, arm thrown over his eyes. Half hidden behind his torso is Chopper, peeking up at Usopp from behind Zoro’s arm.
They blink at each other.
“Hey buddy.” Usopp finds his voice first. “Whatcha doing here?” He whispers.
Chopper ducks his head. “Zoro said it’s ok.” He mutters. There is a rustle as he moves and Usopp spots a book on his lap. A intro level reading excercise book Robin bought rhe other day. “Had a nightmare.” Chopper mutters.
Zoro moves in his sleep, arm coming around Chopper to pull him closer, mumbling something.
Usopp’s breath hitches in his chest. A warm spreads through him that he’s only come to associate with his mother when she was still alive.
“Yeah, of course.” Usopp stage whispers and Choppers little shoulders relax. “I’m going to change and then we’ll have a slumber party, yeah?”
Chopper holds his book against his chest. “Do I have to stop reading?”
“Yeah buddy, gotta give your brain time to process everything it read today.” Usopp tells him seriously.
Chopper sighs in childish exasperation. “Fine.” He says, focusing back on the page and thankfully doesn’t see Usopp trying and failing to contain his giggle.
Maybe they’d be just fine.

When Taehyung was eighteen years old, he told a slightly less experienced Jungkook that girls have a secret sweet spot on the back of their knees.
Yeah, pretty shitty, he knows, he knows— but!, in Taehyung's defense, Jungkook was too damn innocent for his own good and he obviously didn't expect that Jungkook would take a whole ass year to google it. How hard is it to differentiate a freaked out face from a fucked out face, really? It was only like, 30% his responsibility.
Clearly, though, the universe wasn't as understanding, because now Taehyung is pretty sure that he’s cursed.
Whenever he’s feeling like he’s hot shit, life finds ridiculous and absurd ways to humble him — being extra careful to guarantee Jungkook front row seats.
Fair enough. Taehyung has no problem owning his stuff, and he didn’t really believe all this karma shit anyway.
Except when it came to you.
“Shit.” Soojin curses, hands stopping in their search for her keys.
“What's wrong, babe?” Jungkook frowns.
“Can we maybe go to your place? My roommate had some work stuff to prepare and asked me to give her some space this afternoon.”
Taehyung groans “Soojin, we live on the other side of campus and I'm starving.” He punctuates this by lifting the food bags in his hands.
“But she's been super stressed lately, I don't wanna add to that.”
“We won't! We can be quiet, baby.” Jungkook reassures.
Soojin chews her bottom lip. “You sure?”
“Promise.”
Taehyung nods. “She won't even notice us.”
Soojin sighs. “Fine.”
“Also, it can be a great opportunity for Tae to finally meet her.” Jungkook turns to Taehyung. “She's painfully your type, man.”
“Don’t even think about it! My roomie is not interested in Taehyung’s fuckboy ways, Kookie, she’s a pure soul.” Soojin protests.
“Baby, that’s slutshaming. Not cool.”
“What? I'm not a fuckboy. I'm just a very good boy who likes to give people what they want, nothing wrong with that.”
Soojin rolls her eyes, then finally opens the door.
Barely they step into the apartment, though, the three of them freeze — somewhat distracted by the sight of a blond man standing in the middle of the living room, covered only by a blue underwear and a trail of purple marks on his neck and collarbone.
And damn, what a fine man that is. Taehyung had never seen such pretty pouty lips before and he can't help the sudden wish to add a couple of purples to that soft skin himself.
“What the hell?” Soojin's question prompts the man to cover his crotch with his hands. Pitty. “Who the fuck are you?”
“So, I found these old ropes in the back of my drawer, but I think they can hold—” you stop talking once you enter the living room, seeing a hell of a lot more people than when you left.
Jungkook snickers, glancing down at the rope still in your hands. “Pure soul my ass.”
When your name drops from Soojin’s mouth, something snaps in Taehyung’s mind. You see, he isn’t dumb by any means, but Taehyung sure sometimes is slow.
To be fair, he’d spent so much time trying to forget everything about you and the day you met that it’s only natural that he would take some time to recognize your face from his days I wish I hadn’t woken up archive.
But the way your fingers tighten around the knots before you hide them behind your back? Shit, how can he forget the way those fingers felt entangled in his hair that night? The way you made him groan against your neck whenever you pulled a bit too strong?
And your thighs? Fuck, they are so much prettier than he fantasized they’d be, barely covered by the oversized shirt you’re wearing. Taehyung almost has to stifle a groan because holy fuck how he wishes he could’ve seem them — felt them under his palms that night.
“Is he your work thing?” Soojin sarcastically points to the man’s general direction.
“Yeah, sorry about that, Soo, I just wanted to— Taehyung?!”
He grimaces, eyes immediately darting away from your form as he clears his throat, letting out a silent “hey.”
“You know each other?” Soojin frowns.
“We uhm… we met at—” you stutter “we met once. At a party.”
Soojin is silent for a moment, before her jaw drops “Wait— is Taehyung the puke guy?!”
The blue underwear man looks at you immediately. “Did you puke on him?”
“No! No, of course not, Jimin, it was him who— I mean, uh” so this is what humiliation tastes like? “Nevermind.”
The sudden sound of Jungkook’s laugh erupts beside Taehyung, and the boy takes his hand to his stomach as he leans forward. Taehyung is sure he’s never seen Jungkook so happy.
It takes around a minute for Jungkook’s laugh to turn into light giggling as he tries to catch his breath.
“She’s the girl you puked on? No fucking way, man.”
Well. Yeah. Karma and shit.

So Smart, Those Boys Part 3
“Um… is John around? Does he work here? John Watson?” Sherlock asked the woman behind the counter once he had looked around the entire store. She looked incredibly bored and incredibly already over it. She looks like she’s younger than him though. High schooler probably.
“He’s out back. He said someone would come by. Just walk through that employee’s only door.” She said like it exhausted her. Sherlock smiled and quickly walked out the door and looked around. Sure enough there was John Watson bundled up in his flannel button down, sweater, and heavy black coat. He still had on his jeans and work boots from earlier. He was sitting by a few silver metal bins on some stacked up crates.
“John.” Sherlock said and smiled. He walked over and sat down next to the blonde. John smiled and looked him up and down. His eyebrows scrunched up for a moment but he kept smiling.
He had noticed Sherlock changed clothes. Sherlock didn’t really wear pants. He didn’t like the way they made him feel. Constricted and suffocating and all wrapped up. It was overwhelming at times. He had dawned a pair of thick black straight leg trousers instead of his skirt and he had thrown on his long coat.
“That’s a nice coat, Sherl. Makes you look even taller.” John said and laughed, side-eyeing the other boy who blushed and smiled.
Oh my god… a nickname. A nickname that isn’t either an insult or a slur. Sherlock thought as his heart hammered against his chest. Sherlock reached into the side of the coat and pulled out two foil wrapped parcels.
“I got you just a plain pastrami on rye. I… I don’t know what you eat yet.” Sherlock explained and handed John the thicker one of the two. He had ordered himself a plain ham sandwich on white bread. He never got anything else. He doesn’t like trying new things.
“Oh~ I like pastrami. It’s nice all the time but a nice hot sandwich is good. Thank you, it was really sweet of you to bring to me.” John said before digging into the steaming sandwich. Sherlock bit into his own and looked around. Tag, left handed, teenager, wanna be gangster, american, piss, literal piss.
“Where do you live?” Sherlock asked between his bites. While John had been focused on the heavenly sandwich he was eating, Sherlock had been thinking. John chewed and covered his mouth with his hand.
“On my friend’s Greg’s couch. I just gotta get more hours and I can afford rent somewhere.” John explained. His hours at the store had been cut three times in the last four months. He couldn’t afford rent in the place he had been staying so Greg had been letting him sleep on his couch.
Sherlock nodded. John Watson a couch hopper? No, no, no. He can split my rent and sleep with me in my bed in my as- in the upstairs bedroom. At least maybe. If he wants to. I could clean up some… I mean it’s not like my lad at home but my papers and and
“Do you wanna sleep over at my flat?” Sherlock asked quickly. He bit into his sandwich again and seemed to become incredibly interested in a rock by his foot. John however almost spit out his food.
Is this for sex or for friendship? Sex? Friends? I thought Sherlock didn’t have friends? Why would he ask? Wait… either way I get a bed. And maybe get laid by the cutest guy… Better than hearing Greg jack off again.
“Yeah. Yeah that would be good. Good. I get off at eight. What’s your address? Baker Street wasn’t it?” John asked. Sherlock’s eyes widened and he smiled down at the pebble he’d been toeing at.
First part done. He’ll come. And then maybe he’ll cum. Jesus couldn’t I’ve thought of something better than that? Sherlock mental scolded himself. He’d noticed himself acting more… well his age. Eighteen and sexually frustrated, attracted. Having a crush. He’d never allowed himself to feel such a way before. But John… John is something else.
“221b Baker Street. Mrs. Hudson lives down stairs but she won’t bother you much. I’ve… I’ve got an extra bed. … If you want to sleep there.” Sherlock said and finished his sandwich. John smiled and ate in silence till he was done.
“Sherlock, where else would I sleep other than the spare bed?” John said, fishing. He was fishing for something and he knew he’d hooked Sherlock by the way the brunette bit his lip.
“It’s a small bed. I’ve got a much bigger one in my room. Though if you sleep there…” Sherlock said and looked over at John. He looked John up and down. John in turn looked at Sherlock and down at his watch. His break was over but a few minutes wouldn’t hurt.
“If I sleep there, what?” John asked and stood up, moving to stand in front of the other boy. Sherlock looked up at John and it almost, almost made John pause. The way his lashes looked so delicate from this angle, the way the street light made all the sharp lines of his face razor like. It all made him look so… deadly. Like the glint of a knife blade.
“I might end up with tousled hair?” John said in a low quiet voice and pulled one of Sherlock’s curls and watched it spring back.
I sure fucking hope he isn’t actually a murderer. I’m gonna get my ass killed in a bloody alleyway. John thought to himself but kept his well practiced confidence up front.
Sherlock stared right back at him but didn’t make a move to stand or shove the other away. Instead he stared into John’s eyes like he was reading his soul. Like he knew exactly what John was thinking.
I’m glad he can’t see how hard I am right now. Jesus bloody on a crisp, he’s hot. Oh shove me down and make me choke… Sherlock thought as John stood commandingly over him. He felt so small and weak compared to the solid body in front of him. Like a bunny in the presence of a bear. He breathed slowly and watched John’s eyes. The beautiful blue made him throb in his trousers.
“That I might end up needing a shower?” John said in that low voice again and bent down so his face was only inches away from the brunette’s. John stared back at those diamond droplet eyes. Crystals. Gleaming and stunning. Now that he was looking at them up close though… He could see something. Something crazed, barely contained. Something uncontrollable, not like a storm, but rather like a hunger for something unattainable. A million... somethings firing all at once.
Sherlock stared right back. It took so much self restraint to not fidget. To not adjust himself so that his prick wasn’t lying directly on the seam of his briefs. So much was going through his mind that he didn’t notice John standing back up.
“Well, Sherlock Holmes, I think I’ll see you tonight. I think I’ll need to see if what they say about you is true or not. I’ve already taken a long break so I have to get back to work. I’ll get a cab to your place. Bye Sherlock.” John said and straightened his jacket and dusted off his bum. Sherlock swallowed and was about to speak when John leaned down and kissed his forehead.
Do. Not. Start. Crying. Sherlock told himself and waved absently at John as he walked back through the door. Sherlock was dazed. Innuendo? Invitation? Kiss? Kiss?? Kiss? John Hamish Watson kissed my forehead.
Sherlock thought as he walked through the ally to the road and down the sidewalk. He didn’t even know where he was just walking. Second nature, his feet talking him home while his mind wandered.
He’s coming to my flat. It worked? It worked. John is comi ng to my house and expecting sex. Sex. Sex with John Watson… I need to prepare. Lube. Condom. I need to clean out. I need to change the sheets. I need to put towels by the bed. Will he put his in me? Will he want mine in him? I don’t like it when people touch mine. Will he let me touch him? Will he want to touch me? Will he be gentle…
His mind kept thinking more and more as he opened his door and went to his bedroom and stripped. He got in the bath and started his ritual preparation.
In the convenience store John was doing a happy dance and drinking a Gatorade. He had a smile plastered on his face. The anxiety of not knowing how it was going to go was being drowned out by the fact that he was going to go sleep with Sherlock Holmes. He was going to kiss and touch and rub and fuck Sherlock Holmes. Tonight. In a few hours. It was going to be a night to remember…
Hopefully in a good way.

A Wonderful World (Welcome Home/Puppet Friends AU) - Chapter Seven
Tumblr media
"Just a little lower!" Sweetie instructed Ren, who was lowering Yay into the waste paper basket by a scarf wrapped around their middle. Ren followed her words, lowering Yay until their arms could reach the papers and mess them around.
"I don't see anything, Sweetie," they said, their face morphing into a frown through the mesh of the basket. "Phoebe's writings, some missing poster drafts, a page of old homework. No Pip."
"Please. Look closer," Sweetie begged, pressing her nose to the outside of the basket. The mesh was so tight it was impossible to see anything specific.
Zero stood next to her, their hand on her back rubbing gentle circles. Besides Pip and Phoebe, Zero was Sweetie's next best friend; they were everyone's best friend. They took care of everyone in special ways. Their bigger body was perfect for cuddles, shade, and more. But their best quality was how comforting and soft they were with just their body language. Sweetie smiled at them.
"OH! I think I do see something, actually!" Yay exclaimed, twisting in the makeshift harness. Ren dropped them just a little bit lower and their hand grabbed something. "Pull me up, Ren!"
The pig puppet did as asked again, pulling Yay the entire journey up to the desk with ease. She sat down and untied the scarf, trying to see what Yay was holding, and her eyes widened when she did.
A small piece of purple plastic, as small as a broken pencil lead. Ren didn't like the look of that, but was distracted as Sweetie climbed up the wall of pegs to the desk, stumbling dizzily for a moment before crawling the rest of the way over to them.
"What is it? What is it!"
Phoebe turned over on her bed to watch, too. She was highly confused, the explanation Sweetie had given her highly condensed to just the bare details, but her interest was piqued by the shouts nonetheless. The puppets were all shielding whatever Yay had found, so, as quick as she could, she got back into her wheelchair and went over to the desk, helping Zero up along the way. "What did you find?" she asked sleepily.
Yay held their hand out, and Phoebe's brow scrunched in concentration. "That's..."
"A piece of Pip's hearing aid. He did fall into the basket. But where did he go from there?"
,
"So, Wally told me you're coming to the picnic this weekend, Pip," Eddie spoke, covering his mouth politely as he chewed.
He was almost finished with his second plate of macaroni and cheese, while Pip had eaten one and put the plate in the sink already. Julie was fighting herself on whether to go back for thirds or save the leftovers for later.
"Oh, yeah, I am." Pip smiled easily. "Arts and crafts and food. It sounds like fun."
"And games!" Julie shouted enthusiastically, ultimately losing the battle with herself and scooping just a little bit more food on her plate. She really liked her own cooking, though admitted she wasn't as good as Poppy's baked goods. "I help set up the games and stuff every time. New games, known games, even some really cool games from other places! Oh boy, remember last year that game we played with the water balloons?"
"When Frank got one right to the face?" Eddie shuddered. "Yeah, one thing I'll never forget is their reaction." His southern accent was deep as he talked, and Pip admired it somewhat. All of the neighbours here were so unique but at the same time...
Eddie reminded him of Yay, with their shared clumsiness and ability to chat and chat and chat, and Julie reminded him of Sweetie, both sweet as a button with seemingly unlimited amounts of energy to boot. They made him miss sitting at home and having tea parties or drawing with the two smaller puppets, but it didn't feel as bad, anymore.
"Speaking of the picnic, I've wanted to ask ya somethin', Pip." The little button eyed puppet looked over at him, but Eddie couldn't hold contact, standing to take his plate to the sink. "I was wondering if you'd wanna help out with anything. Making a banner or placemats, maybe? You're an artist, right? I saw the little doodles outside; they weren't just Julie's."
Pip flushed, nodding even though Eddie couldn't see. "I draw, occasionally. I'd love to help out."
Julie finished her plate in record time, smacking her hands on the table in her excitement. "I can help after I'm done the games list!"
"Sounds good!" Eddie said, clapping his hands. "Well, I've got to head out of town for the rest of the day, but I'll be back tomorrow. Maybe you two want to draw up some designs for that banner, or soemthin'?"
"Sure, Eddie."
"Have a good trip, don't fall!" Julie laughed, and Eddie laughed with her, tipping his hat politely. "Bye, Eddie!"
"Bye, you two!" And he was out the door.
,
Julie and Pip got to work on some more drawings after Julie had found some loose papers to draw on.
It was getting a little late, not quite dinnertime, when there was a knock on the door and Julie went to open it. Pip sighed, assuming it was the same puppet who'd apparently taken it upon himself to collect Pip almost every day, but then it heard a different voice and softened.
"Hello, Julie. Eddie told me Pip was here. I need to talk to him."
"Oh, hi, Frank! It is!" The door closed. "We're just drawing, if you want to join."
Frank walked around the corner into the living room, their frown replaced by an almost straight, disinterested look. They were wearing a tan coat and hat and held a net and empty container. "I don't have time for that right now. Can I talk to Pip alone please?"
Julie nodded and skipped to the kitchen while Frank set down his bug-hunting supplies and stood in front of Pip, who was watching with interest and a bit of concern.
"What's the matter, Frank?" it asked, pushing the drawing it was working on away.
It had doodled various butterflies and filled the page, but didn't feel like colouring them.
Frank sat down in a nearby armchair, pinching his nose and looking mighty tired. "You'll have to forgive me if I leave out any details; it's been a long day. But... I heard Wally and Barnaby talking earlier and thought you might find the information beneficial."
That's where Pip noticed how ragged Frank looked. His coat was buttoned up the wrong way, and his hair was pushed up under his hat messily.
He'd rushed over here just to tell Pip this information, whatever it was. Pip found that sweet.
"That doesn't sound good. Why did Julie have to leave?" Pip asked, looking toward the kitchen vaguely.
"Because I assume you haven't told them about any of this stuff with you, and I cannot handle their energy and questions right now." Still pinching their nose, Frank took a deep breath. "Wally was telling Barnaby about your chat this morning. About telling you why you're here. It's not true. Not completely, anyway."
Pip's ears rang and it stared in silence until they stopped. Odd. That had only happened this morning when it'd left the tap running.
"I had my doubts it was the full truth," it admitted, blinking to clear its head. "Did he say the actual reason?" It already wasn't that hopeful, but the twisting shake of Frank's head doused any hope it may have had.
"I think he knew I was listening."
"Oh... is that bad?"
"Well, he's not dangerous or anything, but it's not good, either." Frank left it at that. "Now, about the picnic Eddie's hosting. It'll be in Home's backyard, that's where we host all our events, just given the nature of the house. It's alive, it likes to be included."
"That makes sense, I guess," Pip mumbled, brow furrowed. "Why are you bringing this up, suddenly?"
"Because it might give us a chance to investigate." Frank's frown shifted up into a small smile.
Pip didn't peg him as a mischievous type if it was being honest, and it was just another reminder of his own friends. Ren was responsible, but ultimately she really enjoyed a bit of trickery every now and again.
The button-eyed puppet nodded, smiling, too. "Okay... but wouldn't it be good to have some help? I think Julie would be perfect for this."
Frank's hand rose to their hat, adjusting it as they peered toward the kitchen. "You're right, she'd love in on this, but as much as I love having another Lepidoptera lover in the neighbourhood, this isn't where you belong, and she wouldn't understand that. It should be our secret, at least for now."
Pip couldn't help but agree with that logic.
,
They said their goodbyes, and after a couple more drawings it was time for Pip to return to his house; another knock on the door signified that, Wally standing there with his hands tucked behind his back, his little black shoe tapping the ground. He stared straight into Pip's soul.
"Ready to go?"
"Bye, Julie!" Pip said with a wave, the pink puppet waving back enthusiastically with a drawn-out, "Byeeeee!"
Wally walked alongside Pip in silence, and Pip noticed that ringing again. He stopped in his steps, watching Wally walk a few more ahead before he realised they weren't together anymore.
"What's wrong, neighbour?" His voice sounded muffled, further away than he was, and almost completely overtaken by the ringing now. "Puppet?"
All at once he pulled himself back to the present. His head felt light and he was dizzy. Maybe that fall his first day was just now hitting him. Did he have a concussion? Should he see Poppy?
Wally's voice called him back again and he started walking to catch up.
"M'fine," he said, passing by and hoping Wally couldn't tell otherwise, the smart guy he played.
"If you say so, neighbour," Wally shrugged, falling back into step beside him. "So, how was drawing with Julie? She's my favourite artist in the neighbourhood, other than myself. It's why she decorated so much of your house."
Pip glanced up at Wally sideways. Part of that was news to him. "You draw?"
"I paint," Wally nodded. "Still-life portraits, things for my neighbours. But my favourite thing to paint is apples, with all of their intricate details and blemishes. They're very interesting if you look at them long enough." Pip couldn't hold in a laugh, and Wally looked surprised. "What? It's true."
"It is true, that's why I'm laughing. Phoebe has said the same thing about her drawings for art class. Though, she was a bit more sarcastic about it, you sound genuine in your love of apples."
"I am very genuine about my love of apples. They're a lifeblood." Wally's eyes were wide as he explained. "There are apple trees all around Home. One might think it's because I planted them, but they've been here a very long time, and they're important to the neighbourhood's maintenance."
This felt weird, Wally being so talkative. But then again, Pip was chatting its heart away back. Maybe this was just how Wally was like with his neighbours once they got used to being here...
Was it used to being here? This day seemed to be proving that all too quickly.
"Something on your mind?" Wally asked, but Pip just pressed its lips together and shook its head. Wally pointed to the house they were at, and Pip hadn't realised they were here already. "Good night, Pip."
"Night, Wally." Pip walked into its house and closed the door with a smile.
It made a quick dinner of pasta and sauce and then got ready for the night, walking around its bedroom and grabbing pyjamas after realising it'd been wearing the same clothes for three days and that probably wasn't normal here like it was at home. Everyone else seemed to change every time he saw them, at least, but no one had pointed it out.
The pyjamas were light blue with clouds, and actually a little bit big, but it found it liked that as it held them in front of itself in the mirror. It then took off its yellow and white shirt carefully. It hadn't seen itself like this in a long time...
The scars on its chest showed to it first and it held its breath. They weren't battle scars like its friends, not in the traditional sense, anyway, but it didn't like to dwell. It pulled the shirt up the rest of the way, revealing the heart patch also on its chest, but more upper middle than down by its ribs where the scars were.
He buttoned the short-sleeved shirt onto himself quickly, then pulled on the shorts and tied them at the waist. They were soft and comfortable, and he smiled again.
What possessed him afterwards, he didn't know, but he put the receiver of the phone back onto the base before he hopped into bed, then took his hearing aids off to lay more comfortably against the pillow. The world was immediately silenced, and he was already asleep by the time the phone rang with Wally saying good night a second time.

Could I ask if you have opinions on trey/vil? I hardly find anything (good) for them, but there's a lot in-game potential for the two, and I wanna know what you think!
I, for one, just think it would be sweet for Trey to be simultaneously doting and selfish regarding Vil, and for Vil to love being spoiled but being somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of sweets he's being snuck lol
You know, Anon, I am at the same time surprised and not surprised by the fact that there isn’t much fan content for these two. In any case, it is a shame that there isn’t a lot of good stuff with any rare ship...
We haven’t seen a lot of their interactions, I think we’ve read parts of some vignettes very early on, when we didn’t know either Trey or Vil all that much… but Trey does seem to pop up here in there, doesn’t he?
Their relationship dynamic would be interesting, since the way they express their feelings is quite different. Like you said, Trey is very spoiling and doting, and while Vil would appreciate this kind of attention, the fact that Trey’s main love language is baking and feeding would probably be a source of conflict. Once again, I don’t know Trey all that well, but I feel like he is the type that would end up babying his love interest a little bit too much for Vil’s liking. Which isn’t a bad thing for a ship, it’s good that there is something to chew on. The fact that Trey also has a selfish side is also a good thing worth exploring, and I believe Vil would like it even better.
Oh, if I remember correctly, Vil did say something about Trey always doing that in chapter 5, when the Heartslabyul boys brought the sweets he made for everyone. Typical Trey, always baking ‘em pies lol Vil will definitely be overwhelmed and find himself waking up in a room full of baked goods one day.
At the same time, reading through Vil’s birthday vignette again just now, Vil seems quite playful and teasing with Trey. Maybe he just was in a very good mood that day lol, but I can still picture them being flirty with each other and genuinely liking each other, be it serious or not. I don’t know, Trey is funny to me, I guess he is just naturally handsome in-universe and people are kind of drawn to him, or maybe I just like it when Vil is being flirty.
So I see what you mean, Anon, there is stuff to play around with them. To be honest, I doubt we’ll get to it, simply because we have too many other ships, but for whatever it’s worth, you have my seal of approval lol

Southern Nights
Nothin' here but fluff, a bit (a lot) of Sonny x Leland, and good vibes. maybe a tiny drop of bitter-sweetness and angst between the lines but mostly just a cute fluff quick write to bandage my heart cause I love these idiots so much. <3
| Southern Nights - Glen Campbell | ↻ ◁ II ▷ ↺
─── ☆。*。☆。・ 。゚ *. ☽ .* . ☆。*。☆. ───
𝕋he air was filled with some sense of electricity to join the smell of campfire smoke, a light aroma of beer, and gentle laughter. A group of close friends sat gathered around an orange fire, two on a log, two in their own fold-up chairs, and one knelt by the flames, poking at it with a metal rod.
"I can't believe he kept it up for two whole years," a girl laughed, brushing her brown hair over her shoulder.
"Right? You would've thought his voice got tired after the first few months," a boy responded, chuckling along with her as he took a sip from his can of beer. Sure, they weren't quite old enough to be drinking, but there wasn't anyone else here to get them in trouble, and they certainly wouldn't tattle on each other.
"I'm gonna miss him," another girl spoke up, popping a marshmallow in her mouth. She chewed, and then shrugged, swallowing. "Hated history, but he was a good teacher. Made it way more interesting," she continued, and a few of the other kids nodded along with her.
"I bet we'll have all kinds of cool teachers in college, though," another girl added, biting the inside of her lip as she thought.
"Just sucks we won't have each other," the brown-haired boy by the fire commented, leaning back and sitting on the ground next to the only other male in the circle, who sat in his plastic and fabric camping chair.
"We'll still stay in contact," the first girl reassured, setting her can of beer in the dirt next to the log. "At least you and Connie are going to the same college." Ana, the girl speaking, motioned between the boy on the ground and an orange-haired girl on the log next to her.
"Yeah, but UT is a huge school. We may not even run into each other. And what about you guys? Have you guys been accepted into any yet?" Connie asked, looking around the group.
"I got into USC," the boy in the chair replied, and Leland glanced up at him, though he lacked a smile. After a moment of thought, he lowered his head again, taking a long sip of his beer.
"I'm waiting on something back from RIC, and the University of North Dakota," Ana replied, and Julie chuckled.
"You're gonna be freezing all the time if you go to UND," Julie reminded, shaking her head. "I couldn't imagine. I got accepted into UF, so I won't be too far, at least."
"You guys think you're gonna come back to Texas after college?" Leland asked, scooting a little closer to Sonny, the boy in the chair next to him.
"Definitely," Julie answered. Sonny and Ana exchanged a glance, and Ana spoke first.
"I don't know, actually. Maria wants to live somewhere more northern. She likes the cold. I don't really wanna be too far from her," she shrugged, and the group gave a few nods, understanding how close Ana and her sister were. Wherever Maria went, Ana was sure to follow. They'd been that way for as long as Ana could remember.
Leland gently nudged Sonny's ankle, and he looked down at him, a small smile on his face. "I'll probably come back to visit. My entire family is here, anyways." He looked back up to the rest of the group, pausing for a moment as he thought. "We should make plans to all visit for the holidays though. That way we don't risk losing contact," he suggested. Leland immediately nodded.
"I'm sure we can make that work. Probably sometime during the summers too, right?" Ana asked, and the two other girls nodded at her.
Connie popped another marshmallow in her mouth, looking around the serene campsite. "You think there's gonna be a lot of parties in college?"
Leland chuckled. "I'd hope so."
"Probably, that's what everyone says it's like. Parties and alcohol and stuff. I don't know how fun they'd really be, though. I've heard some bad stories about them," Ana murmured, reaching a hand out towards Connie and curling her fingers in.
Connie handed the girl a marshmallow, and Ana slid it onto a short metal point before she hovered the tool over the flames, watching as the treat bubbled and grew an appetizing golden crust. "I think we should all make a pact to try at least three parties. Then we can all share our stories and stuff when we hang out again," she proposed.
"I'm going to a lot more than three parties," Leland laughed, and Sonny nudged him, rolling his eyes.
"Yeah, right. Let me guess, you'll be the keg-stand master?" Sonny teased, narrowing his eyes.
"Well, obviously. Gotta impress the chicks," Leland responded, laughing still.
"You can barely handle a can of beer, there's no way," Julie cut in, shaking her head at his cockiness.
"Well, next time you visit, I guess I'll just have to prove it. Just give me some time to warm up my skills," he replied, holding up and arm and flexing his muscles. "Gonna be football n' beer. Ain't that what college is all about?"
"And getting a degree, Mr. Scholarship," Connie commented, earning a shrug from Leland as he lowered his arm. "Seriously, you know you can lose those if you don't commit to them, right?"
"What? No you can't. That wouldn't even make any sense. I already proved myself," Leland scoffed.
"They're paying thousands of dollars for you. I think that definitely makes sense. It's like being kicked out of someone's place for not cleaning up after yourself," Ana added, retracting her marshmallow and tapping it to test it's temperature.
"If you're paying rent, you should be able to do whatever you want," Leland murmured.
"Yeah, but you're not paying rent, dummy. That scholarship is. So make it count," Sonny hummed, leaning back in his chair and looking up at the sky. "I can't wait to live on my own."
"Me too," the rest of the group chimed in simultaneously, giggling at their harmony. Julie yawned, stretching her arms up.
"I'm exhausted. Isn't it about time for bed?" She asked, and the two other girls nodded.
"Speak for yourselves. I've got plenty of energy." Leland shook his head, finishing off his beer as he tossed his head back to get the last drop.
"Well, I'm going to bed. Babes, y'all with me?" Julie asked, standing up out of her chair, and Connie rose as well. Ana pulled her marshmallow off of the stick and popped it into her mouth, nodding and standing as well.
"Since you're so energetic, you can put the fire out," Ana teased.
"Oh, how generous," Leland groaned, pulling himself to his feet.
"Sonny? You comin'?" Connie asked, tilting her head at him.
"Nah, I'm good for a little while longer. Might as well stay out here and keep Leland company. Don't want him getting scared," Sonny yawned, shrugging.
"Or even worse, lonely," Julie teased, winking at Sonny as the girls turned around and retreated back to their tents. Sonny blinked, pretending that he didn't catch on to the wink, and he leaned forward onto his knees, watching as Leland analyzed the fire.
Once they were alone, Leland stood, looking over at a long lake down the hill. They'd picked a fantastic spot to set up camp, and this was their final night of their six-day camping trip. It had been just as fun as the past six years that he'd known the group, filled with laughter and pranks and stupid teenager decisions.
But the end of the camping trip was the end of those six years, too. They all knew it. They were moving on, going to college, going to be adults in an adult world doing adult things. They weren't dumb kids just doing dumb kid things anymore. They'd have responsibilities, and families, and bills.
"Wanna go sit on the dock?" Sonny asked, and Leland looked back at him.
"Sure," he replied. Sonny stood, glancing over at the tent that the girls were in before heading down the small hill with Leland. They walked out on a thin but long wooden dock over the lake, and Sonny stepped out of his shoes as he took a seat, his feet dipping into the cool water beneath.
Leland did the same, sitting next to Sonny. After two minutes of nothing but the sound of crickets and gentle water movements, Leland scooted closer to Sonny, their fingers silently intertwining. The brunette leaned his head on Sonny's shoulder, and he received a gentle squeeze of his hand.
Leland didn't need to say anything. Neither of them did. They just watched the water, watched the reflections of fireflies, watched the breeze ruffle the grass on the river bank.
After a few more minutes, Leland finally decided he wanted to say something. "You'll visit?"
"I will," Sonny reassured, his chin resting against the head on his shoulder.
"I don't know what I'm gonna do," Leland whispered.
Sonny let out a quiet sigh, wrapping an arm around his shoulder, gently rubbing his upper arm in an attempt to comfort him. "Whatever happened to impressing the chicks?" Sonny chuckled softly, and Leland cracked a smile.
"How could I forget," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
There was silence for a little while longer, and Sonny planted a kiss on Leland's head. The action earned a small frown from Leland, and he suddenly turned, wrapping his arms around Sonny and leaning into his chest. Sonny hugged him back, closing his eyes. He could feel how tense Leland's muscles were, and Sonny quietly shushed him, which only caused him to let out a single audible whine, though his muscles did relax.
Sonny didn't say anything for a while, didn't call Leland out on the way his shoulders flinched every few seconds, or the small gasps he took in as he tried to silence his crying.
After a bit, Sonny gently pulled Leland away from his chest, one hand on his shoulder and the other cupping the right side of his jaw. Leland's eyes were a bit red, and Sonny merely watched him.
With a sniffle, Leland whispered out a weak "I love you, Williams."
Sonny smiled, bringing his thumb up and wiping the other boy's cheek free of a loose wandering tear. "I love you too, Mckinney," he said back, pulling the brunette into a tight hug once more.

Mermaids (1990)
Smoking: Cone

Hi All! It’s been a minute since I’ve done one of these. I was visiting one of my really good friends and we got to talking about it and she made me excited to do it all over again, so I’m back! Hopefully this time I stick to it 😂
I know I said I would never do a review on a movie again that I haven’t seen, but I can’t help it. I really want to watch it and I have my opportunity for my Reefer Reelz and Reviews. Also, have a kitten intently watching me type, so this should be interesting lol!
Opening scene, swim race. Something I did in my youth! So can already relate to the movie, which is nice. I will say I could do without hearing that breath so clearly as she resurfaces. Look at that baby Christina Ricci!! So little 🥹
Tumblr media
Once again, I can relate to this movie, well in theory anyway. Cher moves cross county after a break up and I almost did once. I’m in Texas and I almost moved to San Diego California after a break up. Too small of a town and I didn’t want to see him, settled for going to college further south still in Texas.
Now the kitten is trying to chew on the laptop. Oh boy.
We follow a young Winona Ryder as she goes to look at the convent near her new home. She’s obsessed with becoming a nun when her family is Jewish. Most likely from seeing her mother go through men never finding happiness. She walks through this BEAUTIFUL arch way. I just wanna go to this convent, it looks so peaceful and stunning. She runs into the guys she’s falling in love with and stalks him for a minute before he notices her.
Tumblr media
WR’s crush is driving the school bus. Cher, her mom gives her a hard time “Why Charlotte I do believe you’re blushing.” WR is sitting all the way in the back of the bus on the way to school, then on the way back he starts to talk to her. Then she basically makes a date with him. Keep in mind he is 26 and she’s still in high school.
In this new town Cher has met the wonderful Bob Hoskins and it seems like she might be getting in her new relationship. I think this one might work out for her. He seems like a sweet enough guy. At least for right now. They have a cute interaction at parent teacher night.
Tumblr media
Enter CR with a pumpkin on her head walking around growling, falls on the floor after growling Rachel 😂
How creepy would it be if you were like trying to be super religious and wanting to become a nun, and the first man you fell for and kissed you were being stared at by these statues of disciples. Like creeeeeepy. Now she thinks she’s the next Virgin Mary and had like a mental break and drove her mom’s car till out of gas to this family’s house and just like inviting herself in.
Snack time. Left over goulash, biscuits and an oreo cupcake 🤤
All she did was kiss the guy, and she went to a doctor to see if she’s pregnant.
Oh boy.. Cher is pushing BH away and then goes and kisses the guy that WR is in love with. Gets caught by WR and turns into a whole thing.
Starting to have a bad feeling about what’s coming next. Underage drinking and heights. Not a good mix, or the fact that there’s a lake and the youngest likes to swim….
So as to not give away everything if you haven’t seen the movie, I will just leave it at that.
Tumblr media
Plus, I got distracted with the rest of the movie to remember to type 😅
I really have no idea why this is called Mermaids, other than Cher dressing up as one for Halloween, and the youngest liking to swim.. I mean I guess, probably named movies over less connection. *shrug*
Tumblr media
Hope you enjoyed this week’s review.

So since you're taking a break, I figured I'd fill in a little:
Faith gestured Luke closer, and he sighed, looking down at Nico, before over at Percy. "... Can you take him?" He asked.
Percy smiled a little, holding his hands out, carefully lowering Nico onto his lap. He loved this kid so much, more than he could put into words. And he wanted to prove to him that he could be trusted. He tucked a stray hair behind Nico's ear, which caused him to stir a little. And no matter how he tried to get him back to sleep, his eyes opened anyway.
He pushed himself off of Percy and onto the bed. "No, get away!" He shouted. "I don't want you!" He felt himself tear up again. "Don't touch me, I don't want you lying to me again! Don't..." He burst into tears, unable to form sentences.
Percy sighed. "Do you wanna talk about it?" He asked gently.
Nico didn't seem to hear him, just curling up on his side and crying.
Percy didn't know what to do. He hated seeing the kid upset like this, but he was worried doing anything would just make him worse.
He reached into his bag, pulling out the pillow pet he held in there, just in case he had to spend the night somewhere, and offered it to the crying ten year old boy.
He paused, just for a second, before going ahead and taking it, burying his face in the plush bear. "Wh... Why are you being nice to me? I thought... I thought you were scared of me."
That just broke his heart. "Why would I be scared of you?"
"Because... My dad..." He burst into tears again. "... And my powers..." He looked up at his sworn enemy. "... You don't think I'm a monster?"
"No! No, of course not. Who told you that?"
He shrugged. "Th-they kept saying I'd never fit anywhere else. That if I went back to camp, then... Everyone would hate me." He sniffled. "I'm lucky they like me, at least."
"They? Who are they?"
"Everyone here. They don't think I'm bad."
Percy sighed a second time. "... I don't think you're bad either. And if anyone makes fun of you, I'm gonna make sure they regret it."
"... Why should I believe you?" He asked.
What a question. Why should this kid believe a single word that came out of his mouth?
Why should anyone?
Percy chewed the inside of his lip. "... Have I ever told you about my little brother?"
Nico sat up, newly interested. "... No."
"Well... He's a cyclops. And he's sweet, and brave, and strong. He's good at making things. But he's different, and because he's different, he got made fun of when he came to camp. And then they made fun of me for being related to him." He paused, looking down at his hands. "... I stood up for him. And I'll stand up for you."
Nico was fidgeting again, turning the skull ring around his finger. "... But he's your brother. I'm... Nobody."
"You're my friend." He offered. "Or, if you wanna be. I care about you, at least."
"... You do?"
"Of course I do. I've been looking all over for you, I was worried sick! I thought.... I thought something bad had happened to you."
"So... You're not mad at me? For running away? Or... Or for ending up here?"
Percy shook his head. "I'm just glad you're safe."
-
Once the situation was explained to Luke, he went to find Leo, looking all around camp. Eventually, he found him sulking in the snow. "... Hey, kid."
He looked up to find his former mentor, and glared at him. "What do you want?" He asked.
"I just wanna talk."
Leo huffed. "There's nothing to talk about."
"I think there is." He kneeled down to Leo and watched as he played with the snow. "...Faith, uh... Told me some stuff."
He looked up at Luke. "What stuff?"
"... That she knows I'm leaving." He admitted.
"I hope she broke up with you." He spat.
Luke sighed. "No, she... It's complicated." He admitted.
"She should've. I wouldn't want a boyfriend that kisses Olympus's ass like that."
He rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I get it. The gods suck. But the titans aren't any better."
Leo stared down at the picture he had been drawing in the snow. "... My dad let me get almost beaten to death." He wasn't sure why he said it, but it was all he could think of. "A bunch of times. Six different fosters, they all ended up the same. Horrible. And my dad was right there, watching. And he never stepped in." He took a handful of snow and crushed it in his fist. "They can't be worse than that."
"I wouldn't bet on it. Besides... Nothing's really gonna change if they gain control. Is that really what you want? A huge upheaval that results in... Nothing?"
"Well, what are we supposed to do then!?"
"I don't know, but... We can't figure that out if we don't talk. So... Let's go to camp, and... We can talk."
Leo was skeptical. He'd never gone to this 'camp', he didn't know what the people there were like.
But... His best friend was going. And... If it ended up being bad, he wanted to be there to break him out.
He sighed. "... Ok."
Obrumbratio Scintillae
Chapter 5 -
Leo stormed out of the tent, Nico following close behind.
"Leo, what's wrong?"
"We're watching our leader turn against us, that's what!"
"They hurt you. You passed out. He's protecting us."
" 'Protecting us'?! What?! Like Agnus?!" Leo yelled and Nico glared. Agnus is a guy they trusted. They became friends and he used them, framed them for drug use.
"That's different." Nico said, sounding like he was going to cry.
"Oh, it's different! It's always different!" Leo yelled and Nico glared harder. He didn't know what that meant but he could tell he heard it a lot. Maybe he said it a lot. And he did. He's trusted over and over and over and they all ended up with him heartbroken. And he had that same feeling with Luke now. He's not ignoring it again.
"We can. Trust him." Leo had smoke coming from his arms but neither noticed.
"No! You can trust him! How am I supposed to trust a guy who used kids?! Percy deserved it but other ones?!"
"He saved my life! He just saved yours!"
"He probably only did it because he felt like he needed to!"
"He's been taking care of us!"
"Just like everyone else here! You think we're special?!"
"Woah woah woah boys!" Faith said running to them. She didn't hear anything they said except the last few sentences. And she saw the smoke coming from Leo. His arms, legs, hair. She heard commotion over here with swords and came over as fast as she could when she heard them arguing. She took a breath.
"Nico? Why don't you go see Luke? I need to talk with Leo." Nico stormed off to the tent wiping his tears and kicking rocks on the way. Faith looked back at Leo and sat in front of him.
"What?" He asked holding back tears. She pat the spot in front of her and he rolled his eyes but did what she said in an angrier way, knees to his chest, picking at the grass next to him.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing."
"Bullshit."
"Nothing!" He yelled and she sat quietly in concern. She waited until he was calmed down just a bit. The smoke clearing with each piece of grass he ripped out of the ground.
"You know I'd never hurt you. Right? You can talk to me." She said and it was a few seconds before Leo sighed.
"I met dad." He said and Faiths eyes widened.
"Oh! When?"
"In my dream." She smiled.
"Was I right?" And he laughed.
"Yeah you were right. It's 'Hephy'." He used finger quotes and frowned, wiping his tears and she frowned with him. She debated asking about the smoke but decided against it. Focus on helping him relax.
"What happened?"
"He watched. My entire life he watched and did nothing." He hugged his legs tighter. "And now Luke is leaving and you guys saw the smoke and I might have just ruined mine and Nicos friendship."
"No. No. You guys had an arguement. That happens sometimes. Friends have arguements. You just need to apologize and make up for it." She assured and he wiped his tears. Then she thought about the other things.
"And the smoke?"
"I... I don't have any control over it. If I get too worked up about anything it just comes out and I hate it. I always end up hurting someone."
"So you just... don't use it?"
"What if I lose control again?"
"Leo, it's better to use it more. The more you use it, the more practice you have with it. Learn to control it so you don't hurt the good people when you do use it."
"How?"
"I don't have any experience with powers but I can try."
"Maybe look in your archives and books. Boring, boring books."
"You read books."
"Fantasy books, ma'am. With action and adventure. Not text books." He said and she rolled her eyes with a smile. Especially at ma'am. Being Trans was really hard here. People respected her but only when they knew it was her. Anyone who didn't know her just immediately thought she was a guy. Short hair (all the woman had to cut their hair short due to the lack of supplies they had) taller, more muscular than a woman. She didn't have any satisfaction of any HRT or surgeries due to her family kicking her out as soon as she said those words, so her voice sounded "manly" too. When she told Luke he gave her immense support and loved her very much. She cried that night.
She shook her head knowing she was getting off topic. Then thought about Luke. About what Leo said about him.
"One more thing Leo." She asked and he
"What do you mean by Luke is leaving?" He told her what happened since he woke up and she stared in heartbreak. "I'll uh... I'll talk to him and we can come up with something." She said when he finished explaining.
"But, for now, why don't you go to bed? It's late and we're all tired. We'll talk in the morning okay?" She asked and he nodded before hugging her. Which surprised her. He didn't let anyone else but Nico touch him unless they needed to. He trusted her. She smiled and hugged back. They lasted for about a minute before he left for bed and she walked to the tent.
---------
Nico went back to the tent trying to calm himself down but the tears just kept coming. He closed his eyes and imagined he was with Bianca. Maybe at a beach.
"Nico?" Luke asked in concern. No. He was with Luke. "What happened?" He asked and Nico hugged him for comfort. He did that a lot. Luke or Leo or Faith whoever is closest to him. He just asks for comfort and they gladly give it to him. Luke hugged back and started rubbing his head.
"Me and Leo had a fight."
"About what?"
"He doesn't trust you. I just don't get it. You saved us. And you're trying to protect us, why doesn't he get that?!" He started shaking and his breathing was getting faster and he couldn't stop crying.
"Nico? Nico, it's okay. I'm right here. Breathe. In... and out. In... and out." He followed his instructions and was sitting next to him, leaning his head on his arm in a few minutes. He was too small to reach his shoulder. Kronos groaned in his head and mumbled cursesat Luke.
"Nico, he doesn't have to trust me. He can do whatever he wants."
"I know I just..."
"You want us to be friends?"
"Yeah..." Luke loved how sweet he was. No matter what shit the others said about them they always proved them wrong. Another reason to leave.
"Nico, you can't change peoples minds about some things. You can't force him to trust me. And honestly I don't blame him. I wouldn't if I learned someone I loved hurt other people before. What stops them from doing it again? Besides when I go back to Camp they'll probably kick my butt. And guess what? I deserve it. Immensly." He said sadly and looked at Percy. Nico was half asleep on him. He had a long day today with the worrying and the arguing and the panic attack. So Luke took this time to talk to Percy.
"I'm really sorry. I don't think I can convince you guys to trust me again, I just... I want you to know that I..."
Don't say it.
"I was... wrong." Percy was about to say something when someone walked into the tent and they looked over. Faith looked at Luke with a weird expression. She looked hurt.
"We need to talk."
--------
I know you guys have been waiting I am working on it don't worry!! Also yes, Faith is Trans! We don't have enough Trans girls and I want to show my appreciation for them! They're all gorgeous and smart and funny and I love you all!! Here you guys go!!

Tumblr media
The book club let out on Friday and you quietly packed up your fraying copy of Nabokov, happy you would finally be able to throw it on the shelf and forget about it. As you pulled on your jacket and hooked your bag over your shoulder, Andre, the star of the club, approached you. He wasn’t as curt as Nora but he still made you feel daft.
“Hey, you like the book?” he asked.
“Um, yeah, I guess,” you answered, “I never really read anything like it before.”
“It’s definitely no Secret Garden,” he quipped.
“Oh, but I read the Bell Jar already, that’s the next book, right?” you countered.
“But did you really read it?” he challenged, “did you soak in the depth of the words?”
“I’m sure my second reading will help with that,” you said plaintively, “I think even, I’ll enjoy it even more.”
“It is more of a woman’s book,” he said tritely, “where are you going now?”
You went to the door and he followed you casually. You walked down the hall and shrugged as your sole tapped on the wooden floorboards.
“Oh…” you stopped yourself from saying no where, “actually, someone’s expecting me.”
“Oh ha, really? I saw those flyers they hand out. That’s one of the tips, say you’re being expected so the creep doesn’t follow you,” he rolled his eyes, “I was just asking, I’m not tryna pick you up or anything.”
You came out in the early spring dusk and stopped at the top of the stone steps. “I know you weren’t, I only… I am supposed to be somewhere.”
“Oh yeah? Well, if you ever need a reading partner--”
A honk came and cut off his invitation. You glanced over at the black and white cruiser then back at Andre. You gave a weak smile.
“Maybe,” you answered, “sorry, that’s my ride.”
“So you’re dad’s a cop?” he wondered.
“My dad?” you shook your head, “he’s… a uh, friend.”
“Friend,” Andre echoed and another honk came, “he’s sure impatient.”
“Sorry, I should go.”
“See ya next week,” he called after you as you stumbled down the stairs.
“Yeah, see ya,” you tossed over your shoulder.
You approached the cruiser and Lee got out to open the door. You got in and waited for him to settle on the other side of the seat. You watched Andre stroll down the pavement and catch up with Van.
“You didn’t have to honk, I saw you,” you said quietly.
“Who was that then?” Lee asked as he steered onto the street.
“Just some guy from the club,” you replied.
“So, shakes?” he asked.
“Can we stop by my dorm first?” you hugged your bag anxiously.
“Why’s that?”
“I want to give you back those clothes, I can’t wear them,” you said.
“What? They’re a gift,” he furrowed his brow but you looked away before he could glance back at you as he stopped at the sign.
“It’s too much and they… they won’t fit me,” you said.
“Well, did you even try them on? You’re young, it’s the new style, I thought--”
“But why would you even think to buy me anything?” you interjected.
He inhaled and said nothing. His breath rose like a growl as he passed the road that led to your dorm. He switched gears and headed for the south exit of the campus.
“Don’t interrupt me. Ever,” he snarled, “and I was being nice, honey. It’s nothin’ bad, just a gift ‘cause I thought it’d look pretty on ya.”
“It’s not that I’m not, er, grateful, I only--”
“No thank you, no nothing,” he moped, “you really hurt me, girl.”
“No, it’s not like that. I just--”
“Just what? I saw you back there, tryna act like you don’t know me in front of that boy,” he grumbled, “‘cause I’m old, right?”
“We were talking, I was just saying goodbye,” you returned, “I don’t know why you’re being like this-- Can you please turn around and just take me home?”
“You promised me a date,” he huffed, “so we’re going… next time you can wear your new clothes.”
“Date?” you sputtered, “Sheriff, please, I want to go home.”
“My name’s Lee, honey,” he purred, “I wanna hear it on your tongue.”
“Wha--” he snaked his arm over and slid his hand onto your leg, just beneath your bag.
“Go on and say it,” he squeezed, “please.”
You swallowed and stiffened as you stared down at your lap.
“Lee,” you eked out.
“Good girl,” he snickered.
“Please, I don’t want a shake, I want to go--”
“I ain’t done nothing, honey, don’t be so dramatic,” he drew his hand away, “have I?”
You were quiet. He hadn’t really done anything more than be a bit grumpy. The touch was nothing, wasn’t it? Just a friendly gesture, trying to calm you down. And he bought you nice things and expected nothing but you to like it. It really seemed like you’d done something wrong the more you thought about it.
“I’m sorry,” you said.
“Nah, don’t be, I’m happy as long as you’re here,” he turned off of campus and sped up, “I read that book, you know? Lolita. Made patrol a bit easier. I haven’t read a book for years. It was… interesting.”
“You read it?” you flinched.
“Oh, yeah, it was… the man, Humbert, messin’ with a child, that’s some sickness there,” Lee mulled as he kept his eyes on the road, “don’t you think?”
“Um, yeah,” you answered, “I think it was also about, um, you know, an unreliable narrator and how stories unfold differently for people. How we can experience the same thing but not in the same way… I don’t know.”
“Hmm, yeah, that’s probably it,” he said, “but I just thought, that’s awful. You know, we’re adults, you and me. How old are ya, again?”
“I’ll be nineteen this summer, sir,” you replied.
“See, girls here can marry at sixteen,” he said, “but no twelve year old gettin’ hitched.”
“Oh, well,” you murmured, uncomfortable by his rambling, “can I try the vanilla this time?”
“Vanilla? Sure,” he smiled over the wheel, “think I’ll stick to strawberry, I like the sweet stuff.”
📚
The radio show came to an end and you fumbled with your empty cup. The dread still lingered in your chest. You counted the minutes until you could go home. The milkshake settled like a stone and added to your queasiness. Lee put his cup on his other side and yawned.
“Vanilla good?” he asked.
“Not bad,” you answered as he took the cup from you, “it’s late, hm?”
“Not that late,” he slid across the seat as the radio host picked up after the outro, “so you makin’ friends then?”
“Some,” you said, “just talking about schoolwork and, um, books.”
He was close, close enough to feel the warmth radiating off of him. He pushed his arm over your shoulders and let his hand hang down above your chest. You went rigid and tried to sidle away.
“Sheriff?” you croaked.
“Aw, come on, honey, ain’t nothin’ wrong, just getting close, it’s cold, ain’t it?” his other hand came up and caressed your chin, “I like spending time with you… not havin’ to worry about my radio or criminals, just you.”
“I don’t… I think…” you grabbed his wrist, “I thought…”
“I’m just being nice, I’ll admit, I’ve grown a bit sweet on ya. You’re so pretty and that,” he slipped from your grasped and framed your chin and turned your head, “am I hurtin’ ya?”
“N-no, but I…” your lip quivered.
Was this how it happened? Maybe every girl felt like this the first time a man was near. You didn’t know, you couldn’t. You stared at him wide-eyed as he leaned in and his breath grazed your lips. You smelled the sugary strawberry flavour.
“This hurt?” he asked as his lips brushed yours.
“No,” you gulped as he pulled you to him.
“And this?” he didn’t wait for an answered before he kissed you.
He pressed his lips to your and sucked on your bottom lip. His teeth nipped lightly and he shoved his tongue against the creased of your mouth until you opened it. You garbled as he filled your mouth and hugged you tighter. You were terrified and confused by the suddenness of it all.
You grunted and pushed on his chest. You turned your head away and gasped as you shoved him harder and he relented. His hand slipped to the bottom of your neck as he looked at you in disappointment.
“What’sa matter?” he asked.
“I… I wanna go home, it’s late,” you whispered.
“Oh honey, don’t be scared, it’s a date, I’m just kissin’ ya good night.”
“I never… said it was a date,” you mumbled.
“And why not?” he pressed, “you’re an adult, I am too.”
“I don’t… know,” you uttered, “I never… never been on a date so I guess I wouldn’t know.”
“I didn’t mean to confuse you, I thought you knew,” he said, “a girl like you, I thought you had plenty of dates.”
You shook your head and chewed your lip. You stared at your shoes and wriggled away from him. You ran your fingertips along your jawline as you huddled against the door.
“Please take me home,” you breathed.
“I didn’t mean nothing by it, I just think you’re very sweet and… beautiful,” he reached out and took your hand gently, “I can go slow.”
“I just don’t know,” you didn’t pull your hand away as he held it.
“Ah, I get it, I’m old, I know it, I ain’t stupid,” he sighed.
“I don’t care about that,” you withdrew and wrung your hands in your lap, “I’m… embarrassed.”
“Embarrassed?” he repeated.
“That I never… That I don’t know about all that,” you confessed, “but I don’t wanna think about that now.”
“Can I see you tomorrow then?” he asked, “I wanna see your new clothes.”
“Sheriff,” you said.
“Lee,” he corrected sharply.
“Lee,” you hissed, “please, can you take me home?”
“Well, you just needa ask nicely is all,” he pushed himself in front of the wheel and jolted the whole car with the movement, “let’s get ya there all safe and sound and you can rest up for tomorrow, huh?”
“I gotta study tomorrow,” you argued.
“You can,” he assured you, “you come study at mine and I’ll make you a nice home cooked dinner, how about that?”
You sniffed and pouted, “sure, if you take me home.”

easy || jungkook angst/fluff
Tumblr media
Summary: Date you, win a bet, get his rent paid off. Sounds promising enough, right? Jungkook should’ve known that his ambitions would end in disaster, but even if he did, that still wouldn’t have stopped him from pursuing you.
Warning: cursing, crude humor, fuckboy talk
Genre: college!au, fuckboy!au, bet!trope, angst, fluff
Pairing: Jungkook x female!reader
Premise: In which Jungkook accepts a bet from Taehyung to date the first girl that walks into the lecture hall and realizes that he bit off more than he could chew when starts to catch feelings. Now, he has to suffer the consequences of being an idiot.
Commission Request: @altus-gens
Word Count: 9,203 words
It's not like Jungkook planned to be one of the most sought after person in Yonsei University, but it somehow turned out to be that way. Truthfully, he basks in it, loves that so many people idolize him for doing the bare minimum. He was handsome after all and had a level of charm that surpassed the need to have a good personality.
He got into such a prestigious school through an athletic scholarship for Taekwondo, managed to convince his professors to pass him when he put in minimal effort, and there was no shortage of girls to call when he was feeling lonely for a night. He was the stereotypical 'it' boy on campus and maybe if he was a little bit smarter, he'd have a better choice of friends than the six idiots he always hangs around with.
"How about this," Taehyung starts, gum in his mouth, "the first girl who walks in, you have to successfully get in her pants."
Jungkook rolls his eyes. They were in a damn lecture hall and yet Taehyung had no shame bringing up sex. Typical.
“This again, bro?” Hoseok sighed. “Aren’t you sick of bribing us to do weird shit for you?”
Taehyung smirked.
“Not at all, actually.”
"For how much?" Namjoon cut in, probably curious for the price point Taehyung would arrange this time. He was fired from his job just a week ago and could really use the money. "I'll do it if it’s enough to pay for my rent this month."
Taehyung scoffs, although knowing full well he could pay for all of the boys’ tuitions combined if he wanted to. He was the resident rich bachelor on campus after all.
"I'll pay it for a full year and your utility bills too if you're really down," Taehyung flaunts. "You just gotta have proof you actually managed to do it."
"Dude that's gross," Seokjin chimes in, "No one wants to send you proof of us doing it with a random girl."
Taehyung shakes his head.
"No, no, no," he says, clicking his tongue. "I phrased it incorrectly. I’m not a fucking pervert."
“You got us fooled,” Jimin mutters.
Taehyung leans in closer to the six boys and even Jungkook finds himself getting intrigued. Admittedly, he was a little curious considering he hasn't had a proper meal in weeks. He could really use having some extra cash for food without worrying about rent.
"You have to date the girl for like three months," Taehyung says seriously, "and I'll consider that as enough proof that you managed to actually do it since I know you guys are too horny to wait any longer than that to fuck."
They all look at Taehyung in disgust, Jimin even opting to hit him in the back of the head for being so vulgar. To be fair, they were all thinking of accepting Taehyung's bet regardless. It's not like they were new to leading girls on anyway.
"You gotta pay me more than that to fuck just any girl," Yoongi says, yawning in the process. He seemed the least likely to take up Taehyung's offer, but he was still game depending on the person.
"Then how would you feel," Taehyung starts, "if I told you guys that I could get you priority registration for next quarter."
The boys, even the ones who weren't interested, were now listening to Taehyung's every word.
"You mean," Hoseok gulps, "I could finally get that fucking Organic Chemistry class I need to get out of this hell hole?!"
Taehyung shrugs, an ominous smile on his face.
"Just the perk of having parents who have connections," Taehyung replies. “I’ll only accept one of you guys to do it though. I don’t wanna have you all fucking the same girl- that’d be weird.”
Hoseok rolls his eyes.
“Yeah, that’s what’s weird about this,” he grumbles.
“So are you guys in or not?” Taehyung asks, his patience growing thin.
He lays back on his chair, a smoldering look on his face when they all nod. They were desperate for money after all.
"The next girl that walks in will be the subject of this bet and whoever calls dibs on her first will be the one to woo her,” he says with a stretch of his arms. “Good luck boys.”
They all turned to look at the door and Jungkook watches silently as guy after guy walks into the lecture hall. No girl yet.
Jungkook was hoping, from the bottom of his heart, that no familiar faces would walk in. If he had to deal with a past fling, he’d have to back out immediately. He never dealt with exes very well.
The guys are at the edge of their seats, praying for a cute girl to walk through that didn’t already know about their horrible reputation. They were looking for an easy target, someone that could fall for their charms almost immediately.
And then, you walk in. You were clad in sweats with earphones on, rushing toward the front row seats of the lecture hall. You were chatting with your friends, yawning several times throughout your conversation with them. Jungkook couldn’t help but smirk. There was nothing special about you to point out, in fact, you were just like everyone else. Strangely enough, he found that the most intriguing part about you.
"Nope, nope, nope," Jimin shakes his head repeatedly. "Can't, won't, never will. Sorry, Tae."
They all stare at him in confusion.
"What the fuck, what's wrong with her?" Yoongi asks, crossing his arms over his chest. Jimin faces away from you, not wanting to look at you any longer.
"No, nothing," there seems to be a blush forming on his face. He was hiding something.
“Bullshit,” Taehyung furrows his brows. “Bro, if she’s crazy and one of us gets our dick bitten off, we’re all blaming you, so spit it out.”
Jimin just sighs.
"She's been giving me Professor Kwon’s notes for the past few weeks,” he starts, much to the confusion of his friends. “Her name is [Y/N]. It'll be really mean if I go after her, especially since she and I are kind of friends. Plus, I really need to pass this class. I failed last quarter..."
The boys groan. Jimin was no fun.
"She's not my type so I don't think I could really get into it either," Seokjin states, no longer interested in the prize after Jimin’s confession. He’s been banking off of your notes from him too.
"Aren’t we all old enough to know not to mess with people’s feelings?" Hoseok sighs.
They roll their eyes at Hoseok’s statement. Who was he trying to fool with the nice guy act? He probably fooled around with girls just as much as the other guys did.
"Yeah, I’m backing out," Yoongi agrees, "and she hates me so there's that."
They all look at him questioningly and he puts his hands up in the air from their gazes.
"What? I just realized who she’s talking to down there.”
He pointed at a girl discreetly, but no one seemed to recognize her.
“Her friend and I dated,” Yoongi continues, “and I broke up with her over text and blocked her without letting her respond. That whole friend group is pretty much pissed at me. I'd rather not have to deal with them again."
The guys look disapprovingly at him. Breaking up over text was harsh, but probably not the worst thing Yoongi has done to his exes.
"You're actually a piece of shit," Namjoon sighs. "I really do need my rent paid though..."
Jungkook nods in agreement. It's been almost impossible to balance Taekwondo practices, college papers, and working a part-time job all at once. If he could somehow find a way to quit his job for a while and get priority registration for classes, then he doesn't mind getting his hands a little dirty in the process. Plus, you were cute enough and he's sure you weren't too difficult to befriend as long as he doesn't mention Yoongi in any conversations.
"I'm in," Jungkook chides, finally saying something after such a long period of silence.
They all look at him with disbelief in their eyes. Jungkook was never the one to partake in Taehyung's bets. In fact, he was the one usually ridiculing them for participating. He must have been really desperate if he was willing to do it.
"I mean, it's all yours if you want," Namjoon replies, "I don't wanna turn it into a competition.”
“Don’t worry dude,” Jungkook fist bumps Namjoon, “I’ll quit my job and refer you for it.”
They nod at each other as if they were on the same wavelength.
“I knew I could rely on you,” Namjoon says, faking tears from his eyes. The boys groan in response.
“Alright,” Taehyung claps his hands. “In exchange for providing me some mindless entertainment and going out with [Y/N], you will get your rent paid for the rest of the year and get early registration for next quarter. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me.”
Jimin shakes his head.
“I don’t know about this, guys...”
Jungkook doesn’t hear him and instead takes one last look at you. You catch him in the corner of your eye and you can’t help but feel flustered at his serious expression.
“Should be easy enough,” he mutters to himself and turns his gaze back onto his friend.
“So we have a deal?” Taehyung asks.
He smirks, shaking the outreached hand Taehyung held out for him. He steals another glance at you and he finds you staring right back. He gives you a wink.
“Deal.”
Jungkook slid into the seat next to yours in the campus canteen, his eyes filled with determination. His posture was laid-back, but it was a little too obvious that he was trying to act like he didn’t care.
“Hi,” he greets you in a breathy tone- girls loved it when he spoke with his breathy tone.
“Hi?”
You’d been sensing that someone was staring at you during the lecture, but you thought that was just the paranoia that came from being near such an intimidating group of guys. Turns out, you should always trust your instincts.
Jungkook had a boyish grin on his face that made you want to smile back but also stare at him in disgust.
“I heard you help Jimin with Professor Kwon’s notes,” he whispers mischievously. “I’m struggling myself, actually...”
Not really, but you know. This was the easiest tactic to approach you- tackle your similarities. You nod understandingly at his words, not quite getting that he was flirting with you.
“Yeah I can send you the Google Drive folder,” you comply, taking your phone out. “But you can’t let Professor Kwon know or else he’ll flip out. He doesn’t want people to have the notes for some odd reason...”
You trail off but Jungkook just scoffs. You seemed clueless.
“That’s not what I necessarily meant,” he says, a little shy this time. “I need a tutor.”
You furrow your brows at him.
“Yeah, you’re gonna have to pay me for that,” you say seriously. The last time you offered to tutor someone for free, they ended up blaming you for their failing grade and screaming about it all over social media. You needed money to compensate for that emotional trauma. “Microeconomics is hard to teach.”
“Well thankfully I’m a good student,” Jungkook teases. You stare at him with a deadpan face.
“You wouldn’t need my help if you were a good student,” you say blankly, standing up from your seat. “My hourly rate is 20,000 Won. Take it or leave it.”
Jungkook’s eye twitched. He had to spend his money to get Taehyung’s money? Well, the payout would be worth it in the end anyway. He reaches out a hand to you.
“If you’d have me,” he says cheekily, looking up at you. You take his hand in yours and maybe for a second you felt your heart skip a beat, but that was soon over when you let go of him.
“You have sweaty hands,” you say straightforwardly. You wipe your hand on your shirt and he coughs awkwardly at how unresponsive you truly were. Didn’t Jimin say you were a nice person?
You take your barely-touched lunch tray and walk away from his pensive figure.
“Wait, can I get your number?” he yells. You don’t look back.
“Alright, whatever,” he mumbles to himself. “I’ll just ask Jimin, I guess.”
Without even a second glance, you disappear from his sight. He sits back on his chair, heaving out a deep sigh. Sure, this wasn’t the first girl that didn’t care much for his advances, but you didn’t even crack a smile or anything. This is going to be harder than he thought...
“She hates me,” Jungkook whines to Seokjin as they walked down the university halls to their next shared class. “Yesterday, I went up to her to get her number and I left with a fucking debt. Does that make any sense?”
“Well, maybe you shouldn’t have taken on the bet,” Seokjin yawned. “Namjoon would have wooed her with his poetry by now or some shit.”
Jungkook rolls his eyes.
“Yeah, I’m sure she’s interested in a dude who can’t even put on a hat without causing an earthquake.”
Seokjin smacked him on the back.
“At least he’d have the guts to say no to having a fucking tutor,” Seokjin replies. “You dug your own grave, man. Now roll around in it.”
“Do you want me to succeed or not?”
“I want you to not be a fucking dumbass, Jungkook,” Seokjin sighs. “Do you really wanna make your reputation worse than it already is?”
Just as Jungkook was about to reply, he catches a glimpse of you walking farther ahead in the university courtyard. You were a bit far but he’s sure he could make it if he hurries. He smacks the binder he held in his right hand onto Seokjin’s chest.
“Yo, can you cover for me,” he asks hastily and Seokjin stares at him with a concerned gaze. He watches as Jungkook takes off his backpack and leaves it on the ground. Jungkook looked about ready to break out in a sprint.
“What the fuck, why?” Seokjin questions.
“Just tell the TA I’m out for a bit,” he says in response, already running ahead to catch up to you. “I’m winning this fucking bet or I’ll die trying.”
Jin stands still, mouth agape. Jungkook really left him with his backpack and binder just to talk to you. He shakes his head. ‘I need to make new friends,’ he thought to himself, picking up the discarded backpack and walking in the direction of the class Jungkook was planning to be late to.
You were walking with your earphones on, not noticing someone sprinting at you in record speed. You only turn your music off when Jungkook stops in front of you, his hands on his knees. He was panting heavily.
“Hey,” he says through deep breaths. You nod at him awkwardly.
“Why are you running?”
“I wanted to... catch up to you... and I thought... you were closer... but the run here... took... fucking... forever,” he says breathlessly. “Water. I need water.”
You take out a bottle from your tote bag hastily, handing it to him. He took it into his hands, grazing your fingers a bit. As he was about to start chugging it, you halted him.
“Waterfall,” you say curtly- you were still planning to drink out of it later after all.
He nods in response, a drop of sweat cascading the side of his neck. After he was done, there was practically no water left anyway. ‘I’m gonna have to refill it myself,’ you thought begrudgingly. You stuff it back into your bag and wait until his breaths become more even.
“A bit out of shape, huh?”
He scoffs and gives you a glare, clearly offended.
“I actually have a Taekwondo scholarship, you know that? I just wasn’t warmed up and I’m naturally sweaty so it’s not like-”
You laugh a little.
“I’m joking,” you say, a smile adorning your face. He feels his face turn red and he can’t help but purse his lips out of embarrassment. Jeon Jungkook couldn’t take a fucking joke.
“O-oh,” he says shyly, avoiding your gaze. Why was he acting more like an idiot than usual? You hear the chiming bells of the university tower and stare at your phone to check the time.
“Don’t you have a class?” you ask him. His eyes widen and soon he was dashing off again. He turns around mid-run, jogging backward to face you.
“My number is 06-1313-9197,” he yells, loud enough for the other late students in the courtyard to hear. Most of them roll their eyes, knowing that Jungkook was flirting with another girl yet again. You’re embarrassed by the amount of attention he’s getting, but punch his number on your phone anyway.
“Text me,” he shouts. “I’ll always respond to you.”
Now it was your turn to be flustered.
"That’s wrong,” you say, reaching over to Jungkook’s notebook and marking a large ‘X’ on his paper. “You’re not supposed to apply that function for this problem...”
Jungkook stared at you with a tired face. He didn’t think he was too bad at the mathematical aspect of Microeconomics, but it seemed like it was your life’s mission to make him look like an idiot. Of course, you caught every mistake that he made- even the ones he made on purpose just to see if you were really paying attention to his work and not bamboozling him.
“My bad,” he mutters, copying down the same problem on a different sheet of paper. He didn’t even get a chance to make a move on you today- not like he could make any big developments in the campus library anyway.
“Is it like this?” he asks, tilting his notebook to face you. You take a hard look at it and nod.
“Yeah, just make sure you know the difference between these two formulas, or else you’ll mess up on the midterm,” you say thoughtfully.
This was your fourth or fifth tutoring session by now? Truth be told he wasn’t really counting. Each moment he spent with you kind of blended together and he didn’t quite know if that was a bad thing or not.
“You know you’re not even struggling,” you say, your nose buried deep in your textbook. “It’s not like you’re completely clueless like Jimin. It seems like you’re wasting money on stuff you already know.”
Jungkook laughs heartily, getting shushed by the people around him. He really was stupid, wasn’t he?
“Yeah, well, it was just an excuse to hang out with the pretty girl in class, you know?” he says as nonchalantly as he could. You stare at him for a second and he swears he feels his body freeze over. If looks could kill...
You just shook your head with a click of your tongue and got back to reading.
“The pretty girl in class is most definitely not me,” you grumble. “If you wanted, I could’ve given you Soobin’s number without all the added hassle of you trying to come talk to me-”
“Woah, woah, woah,” Jungkook stops you from saying anything else. He looked worriedly at your face. “I don’t even know who the hell Soobin is, why would I want her number?”
You look at him and finally, you chuckle. ‘She really does have a nice smile,’ Jungkook thought to himself. It would be nice if he could make you laugh more often and not just on rare occasions like this.
“You’re saying you don’t know Yoongi’s ex?” you tease slightly. You were finally letting your guard down with him and Jungkook smirked. One wall down, another million more to go.
“Bold of you to assume that I know any of Yoongi’s exes,” he says and you scoff. “He’s an asshole when it comes to dating.”
You roll your eyes.
“Isn’t that your whole friend group?”
He pouts. You knew of his reputation after all. Jungkook thought he could get away playing a nice boy act, but it didn't seem possible considering your knowledge of him. A little white lie couldn’t hurt in the end.
“Not me,” he replies. “I choose my relationships pretty carefully.”
You take a glance at him before jotting down a few more words in your notebook.
“Well,” you start off, a little shy to admit what you were about to say, “I guess we both have that in common.”
He tilts his head rather cutely out of confusion.
“What do you mean?”
You cough awkwardly, adjusting yourself on one of the library’s notoriously squeaky seats.
“I’ve never really had a boyfriend before,” you say quietly. His eyes bulge out from their sockets.
“You’re lying.”
“No, I’m not,” you say, a hint of amusement in your voice.
“Like, you’ve never been on a date or what?”
“I have,” you say hesitantly. “I’ve been on a few but they just never led into anything serious. I was pretty focused on studying in high school so there weren’t really any opportunities to get involved with someone. Plus, the guys who pursued me weren’t very... attractive.”
Jungkook laughs loudly again, much to the dismay of the other students in the library. He liked that you didn’t beat around the bush- it was easier to talk to you that way.
“And me?” he asks teasingly, laying his head on his arm that was atop the desk. He looks up at you with that boyish grin of his that gave you small butterflies in your stomach. You stare back at him, but only for a second. You ignore his watchful gaze and continue to flip through your textbook, trying to find the passage you last read. He keeps his eyes locked on you and you just couldn’t resist.
“What about you?” you ask, feigning ignorance.
“Am I attractive?” he replies as bluntly as he could. You stop your movements and he chuckles.
“You’re... cute,” you settle on that word. Cute. It was safe enough to not be misinterpreted too much. He sits up straight with a satisfied smirk. He takes his pen and draws a heart on the side of your notebook. He winks at you when you stare back at him, puzzled by his actions.
“You are too.”
“Tell me you’re lying,” Soobin whines disappointingly, shaking your shoulders. You were trying to eat lunch undisturbed in one of the campus cafes but your two friends seem hell-bent on making you suffer. “There’s no way you’re friends with Jungkook.”
You sigh, attempting to rid yourself of Soobin’s grasp but to no avail.
“He’s an asshole, [Y/N],” Gaeun sighs disappointingly. “I thought you were a feminist, why the fuck do you even tolerate him?”
You glare at her for a split second before going back to prying Soobin off you.
“Jungkook has no respect for women or himself. It shows in how many shitty friends he has,” Soobin chants, still clearly bitter that Yoongi dumped her.
You shake your head, rolling your shoulders back when she finally lets go of you.
“Jungkook’s not even as bad as you guys describe him,” you reply. “He’s actually been really sweet.”
The girls take a glance at each other and burst in a fit of laughter.
“You must be out of your damn mind,” Gaeun cries. You cower slightly at their words. It’s not like you said anything that controversial, did you?
Soobin slaps Gaeun on the shoulder when she realizes how your face had soured. It wasn’t right to judge you for your choice of friends so harshly, no matter how horrid said person was.
“As long as it doesn’t go past friends,” she says soothingly, but that only made you feel worse.
“Why?” you ask a little hesitantly. “Does Jungkook sleep around?”
Gaeun nods, a worrying glimpse in her eyes.
“He's not exactly the type to kiss and stay...”
You nod understandingly. You weren’t too clueless to believe Jungkook when he said he was “careful” on who he dated. As long as you knew the boundaries that came with being his tutor, everything should be fine... right?
“Don’t worry guys,” you say with determination. “I’m not the type to get played-”
“Of course you are!” Gaeun sighed. “Guys gravitate towards girls like you who lack experience. Jungkook’s a fucking weirdo, of course, he’s gonna try and-”
“[Y/N]!” a shout from across the cafe screams. That distracted you from the various insults Gaeun was spewing from her mouth. You get that she was being critical of Jungkook, but did she have to speak ill of you too?
You look around and catch Jungkook waving frantically at you. He stops at your table and takes a mere glance at your friends before setting his focus on you.
“Do you have time to help me out today? One of the papers for my writing class-”
“You tutor him in writing now, too?!” Soobin exclaimed, mouth agape. “[Y/N], what the fuck.”
You try to ignore your friend’s overreaction, a little disheartened when Jungkook looked hurt at their words. He had started to shy away from them as if he didn’t feel welcomed.
“Nevermind, I’ll just ask you later-”
“Actually,” you say standing up. “I’m free now.”
The two girls look back and forth between you and Jungkook, noticing the stars in your eyes when you looked at him. They did not like the thought of you two together at all.
“But [Y/N]-”
You ignored their words and start to walk away, hoping Jungkook would come catch up to you. You didn’t quite know why their insistence on him being a bad person had made your blood boil. It wasn’t like you weren’t aware of his flirtatious tendencies, but hearing from your friends that you shouldn’t pursue a guy that you liked-
You stopped in your tracks and feel heat climb up your face. Like.
No way you admitted that just now. There’s no possible way you actually like-
“Hey, wait up,” Jungkook pants, his hand touching your shoulder. “Why do you walk so fast for-”
He sees your shocked face and turns you towards him, his hands on your shoulder similar to how Soobin had shaken you just earlier. Except this time, it felt comforting. It made your whole body feel warm as if you were coated with a weighted blanket. Was he always this gorgeous?
“What’s wrong?” he asks, inspecting your face closely. “You look like you just saw a ghost.”
“N-nothing,” you swipe his hands away and rush out the door of the cafe. He smirks at how flustered you look, maybe he did have an effect on you after all.
Jungkook takes a last glimpse at the two girls who sat in their seats, staring at him disapprovingly. He raised an eyebrow at them and shoved his hands in the pocket of his jeans, following after you. ‘They’ll try to get in the way,’ Jungkook thought to himself, ‘but they’re already too late.’
The girls clenched their fist out of annoyance. He was definitely trying to get on their nerves.
“There’s something strange about what’s happening,” Gaeun mutters.
“They’re up to something,” Soobin agrees. “I don’t trust him at all.”
It’s been a week since you last spoke to your friends, not really wanting to read the messages they bombarded you with about how you should stay for away from Jungkook. It was hard to take any of their advice seriously when they were just badmouthing him without reason. They based all their opinions on him from rumors around the school and Soobin always felt the need to compare him to Yoongi even though they both had very different personalities. Well, at least to you they seemed very different.
Frankly, you were sick of their nagging and just turned off notifications from that group chat altogether. Instead of sitting next to them during Microeconomics, you opted to sit with Jungkook in the back of the lecture hall instead of at the front with them. Jungkook had abandoned his own rowdy friend group to sit with you and flashed them quick smirks and winks whenever they’d stare at him.
Slowly, Jungkook had started to become a constant in your day to day life. You walked to class with him, ate with him, played video games with him. It was sort of strange how used to you were of his presence, like you had known him your whole life. Jungkook snaps you out of your thoughts when he starts humming a little tune.
He draws a heart in the corner of your notes- which you find he has a habit of doing whenever he wanted to say something stupid.
“I don’t get what he’s saying,” he pouts cutely. “It’s like he’s speaking a foreign language.”
You shake your head, not paying him any mind.
“Well maybe if you actually paid attention,” you mutter softly. He scoots closer to you and you feel yourself stiffen.
“But you’re tutoring me later on anyway,” he says teasingly. “I get more bang for my buck if I know less.”
“Bang for my buck,” you scoff. “Who even says that anymore?”
He points at himself nonchalantly and you can’t help but crack a smile as you continue to focus on the professor’s words. You don’t even cower under his gaze like you usually do when he stares at you with those puppy dog eyes.
“What do you want?” you ask, finally caving when Professor Kwon adjusted something in his PowerPoint slides. He smiles.
“I want to hold your hand,” Jungkook replies and you could feel your palms clam up. His flirtatious comments increased as time passed and you didn’t really quite know whether he was just teasing you or if he was genuinely interested in you. You weren’t very good at taking a hint.
“I’m writing right now...” you reply, slightly skipping a beat in your note-taking. He really was the ultimate distraction, wasn’t he?
Jungkook pouts sadly, but you can tell an idea pops up in his mind when his eyes start to glimmer. He sits his hand on your thigh and you jolt back from the touch of his hand on the material of your jeans. He pulls away slightly, scared that he had made you uncomfortable.
“I just want to put my arm around you,” he asks innocently. “Are you okay with that?”
You calm yourself down and nod. For goodness sake, you weren’t a child- why did a hand on your thigh make you so nervous for?!
“Yeah,” you say, a little more confident despite your nerves. “Go ahead.”
He smiles softly at you and connects his hand to your waist, pulling you a little closer to him. It was comforting, not at all meant to be more than just a public display of affection. He finds himself getting lost in the lecture along with you, his hand playing with a loose thread on your shirt through it all. He didn’t even look at his friends who were teasing him on the other side of the class or your own friends shooting daggers into his being.
At that moment, it was you, him, and Professor Kwon giving out a lecture that had half of the students already asleep. He smiled at how diligently you worked and how your breath would quicken when Professor Kwon switched the slides without a warning. It was the little idiosyncrasies like this that caught his attention, the kind of things that made him wonder where you’d been all his life.
The smile on Jungkook’s face disappeared when he came to that realization.
Fuck.
Jungkook rolls around the grass while you sit on the picnic blanket you two had set up. Midterms were over and grades would soon be announced. He wanted a much-needed distraction from the monotony of constant studying and you had suggested a small picnic in a nearby park. Of course, he agreed.
“We’re free,” he groans. “Finally free.”
Jungkook stares hungrily at the assortment of food you had laid out for the two of you. He tries to reach a hand out to grab a bottle of lemonade but ultimately fails in the end. You giggle at his silliness, popping a grape in your mouth.
“You’re welcome by the way,” you say jokingly. “Don’t think you could’ve done it without me.”
He sits up to face you, bowing deeply as if you were a traditional empress.
“Thank you,” he says, imitating a Joseon accent. He was watching far too many historical dramas recently.
“You’re embarrassing me,” you say, attempting to straighten him out. “Sit up.”
He complies, only after a few pulls from you, with a toothy grin on his face.
“Seriously, I don’t think I could have gone through the first few weeks of Professor Kwon’s class without your notes,” he sighs, opening his mouth to signal that he wanted to be fed. You roll your eyes but placed a grape between his teeth anyway.
“You have hands, you should know how to use them,” you mumble shyly.
You move to take another grape for yourself, but he grabs your wrist before you could. He intertwines his fingers into yours.
“Why should I when my hands are holding yours~,” he says in a sing-song voice. It made you want to throw up at how cheesy he was, but you couldn’t help but laugh along as he cringed at his own words. When was it so normal for him to hold your hands like this?
“You can’t go one sentence without flirting, can you?” you sigh, feigning annoyance.
“Not when it comes to you,” he replies, but you could feel sincerity laced between his laughter. “I can’t resist flirting when it makes you all giggly like this.”
You purse your lips to prevent yourself from smiling too brightly. Jungkook and you were somewhat past the point of being just friends by now, but you were too much of a coward to label what you had with him. What if there was a chance that he was just leading you on?
Jungkook saw your furrowed brows. He rubbed circles on your hands with his thumbs to ease you.
“Am I making you uncomfortable?” he asks softly, about to let go.
“No-” you say a little too quickly, clasping him closer to you. Your faces were inches apart now, much nearer than they were before.
“D-don’t,” you attempt to say but you’re tongue tangled as you looked at his lips. He certainly does have nice lips...
“Don’t what?” he asks in a lowly voice. You start to look around you- anywhere that wasn’t him. The park was relatively empty but it still felt embarrassing to say anything too loud.
“D-don’t let me go,” you say, your eyes on the picnic blanket rather than on him. His gaze was too intense to look at. Jungkook feels his heart clench. You were cute, too cute.
He shouldn’t be feeling this attached to you, but he couldn’t help it. Everything you did, every word that came out of your mouth- it had him wanting more from you than he could possibly handle. It was dangerous to feel this way.
“Why don’t you want me to let you go?” he asks nervously. He too was anxious for the answer. If you were to confess to Jungkook right now, he’d get the first part of the bet done, but there’d be no turning back after your confession. He would have to lie to you from now on.
Jungkook closed his eyes, chanting to himself that it’s okay to like you for a little while, just as long as he doesn’t get too attached in the end. He needed the money, he really did.
“Because,” you start off with a sigh, staring at him now with glossy eyes. “I like you.”
Jungkook feels like he could do ten backflips in one go and it wouldn’t even drain him of energy. The smile on his face was huge, his eyes curling into that half-moon shape that made you swoon.
Jungkook was relieved and if the boys asked, it was because he’d only have to date you for three months. He’d die before he’d admit to them that he caught feelings because Taehyung, as generous as he was with his bets, would never give Jungkook the money unless he cleanly broke up with you. It was one of his unspoken rules.
“I like you too.”
You smile at him and he can’t help but pull you close, his lips hovering over yours.
“Can I?”
You nod.
His lips graze yours slightly but he pushes a bit closer when he feels you lean into his touch. He kisses you again, and again, and again, but you pull away when his tongue had started to prod at your lips. Your face was flushed, embarrassed to be doing this in such a public place.
“Maybe later?” you say, panting slightly. He gives you a cheeky grin and nods.
“At my place?” he asks with a wink.
You hesitate, letting go of his arms, twiddling with your fingers. You wanted to set clear labels on what your relationship was. You didn't want to accidentally get caught up in a friends-with-benefits situation and be all shocked when Jungkook ends up breaking your heart.
“So we’re dating now, right?” you ask cautiously, looking at him with a worried glint in your eyes.
Jungkook’s mouth opens to speak but no words come out. He thinks a little harder about the whole situation... He was getting good grades, spending some quality time with a girl he’s clearly attracted to, and having his rent paid off all in one? He was killing three birds with one stone. It shouldn’t be too big of a problem to catch feelings for now, right? It’s not like any of his relationships lasted longer than a couple of months anyway.
He nods, cupping your face lightly.
“Yeah,” he hesitates. “We’re dating.”
Jungkook wasn’t aware, as he gives you another light peck, that it wasn’t possible to have his cake and eat it too.
It happens naturally. You coming in and out of his apartment that he shared with his friends, you tangling your legs with his underneath the sheets of his bed. It was hard to imagine a life where you didn’t wake up with him by your side. You were so wrapped up in his touch, so wrapped up in the sweet words he would whisper into your ears, that you spent most of your time with him.
You weren’t really up to date with your friends anymore and he didn’t really hang out with his either. Jungkook shared an apartment with Seokjin and Hoseok, and so the only contact he had with the other boys was when they visited those two. He should’ve known to take you back home when all the boys bombarded into his living room, where you sat with him watching TV.
“The lovebirds are at it again,” Taehyung coos, a mysterious glint in his eyes. “The honeymoon stage hasn’t passed quite yet, has it?”
Jungkook chucks one of the sofa’s throw pillows at his friend, obviously annoyed. What the fuck did Taehyung think he was doing?
“Quit it,” he mutters. You were sitting next to Jungkook, his arm around your shoulder protectively
“Why?” Yoongi yawns. “Anyone can see how incredibly in love you two are.”
You didn’t quite like the smirk he gave the two of you. This didn’t feel like regular teasing... it felt like he knew something that you weren't aware of. It made you curl your toes out of fear.
“Guys,” Jimin says calmly. “Stop it.”
The boys shrug their shoulders as if they said nothing wrong.
“We’re just pointing out how cute they are together,” Taehyung noted, “It’s not like we’re lying to her or anything-”
“Yeah, or leading her on or anything like that-”
“I think I should go,” you say hurriedly, uncomfortable at how tense the atmosphere was. Jungkook was clenching his fists, about ready to start a fight any second. Knowing his strength, you didn’t want anyone to walk around with a bruised eye because you couldn’t handle a few jokes- if that’s what Taehyung and Yoongi think they’re making. Harmless jokes.
“I’ll take you home,” Jungkook announces, standing up with you. Namjoon pulls him down back on the couch.
“Let someone else take her,” he says sternly. “We need to talk.”
Jungkook was about to protest until you spoke up.
“I can get home by myself just fine.”
“Hoseok and I can take you,” Seokjin insists, pulling the unassuming man up with him. “We don’t mind.”
Hoseok gives you a lopsided smile and you return an equally awkward one.
“Okay, that’s settled,” you say, clapping your hands. You walk over to Jungkook. “I’ll text you later okay?”
He nods, grabbing your hand and kissing it lightly. Yoongi scoffs and Taehyung glares at Jungkook. The dirty glances they were giving each other... You didn’t like it at all.
“Let me know when you get home, okay?”
“Okay.”
The walk to your apartment was unnecessarily awkward, Hoseok and Seokjin were talking too much and you talked too little. You tried to respond to their every quip, but you weren’t in the mood for chatting after that whole mess.
“You okay, [Y/N]?” Hoseok asks worriedly. “Don’t think too much about what those idiots said back there, they’re like that all the time.”
You nod, keeping your eyes on the ground. There was something chipping away at the back of your mind, something you wanted to get out of your chest.
“Would you say Jungkook and Yoongi act similarly?” you hesitate to say, “like with relationships?”
The two boys exchanged nervous glances at each other.
“Well, it depends,” Seokjin starts, choosing his words specifically. “What about relationships specifically?”
“Does he...,” you start off, not knowing the right phrase without sounding too harsh, “play around with girls? Like how Yoongi played around with Soobin?”
Hoseok looked at you with a raised brow.
“Who’s Soobin?” he asks before getting punched in the arm by Seokjin. “What the fuck bro!”
Seokjin clears his throat.
“What Hoseok meant to say,” he starts, glaring at his friend a little too harshly, “is that Yoongi never really introduces us to his girlfriends. You, on the other hand, are one of the few girls Jungkook actually took the time to invite over.”
“Yeah,” Hoseok chimes in. “He’s not exactly the most chivalrous, but he wouldn’t ghost someone like Yoongi did.”
Somehow their words weren’t enough to satisfy you. There was still something off in the conversation that transpired between the three boys- as if they were all keeping something from you. You stopped abruptly in front of your apartment complex, finally making eye-contact with the two boys.
“Do you think...” you start, a slight quiver in your voice, “that Jungkook is cheating on me?”
The two boys let out a deep breath that you didn’t even notice they were holding and laughed joyously together. They cackled as if what you said was the funniest thing they had ever heard in their life. Seokjin wipes a stray tear from his eye.
“Y-you think Jungkook’s cheating on you?!”
You nod, a little embarrassed at their reaction. Hoseok shakes his head, sighing out of his laughter.
“Trust me,” Hoseok starts, his breath evening out. “Jungkook would never cheat on you.”
You start to giggle along with them until a serious look suddenly takes over Seokjin’s features. He faces you fully.
“But listen [Y/N],” he starts. “If Jungkook hurts you, just know that he does love you. Like, undeniably. He does.”
“And we’re not just saying that as his friends either,” Hoseok continues. “We know how he’s like and we can tell that he really does like you.”
You smile at the two, feeling a small sense of comfort at their words.
“Thank you, guys. I mean it.”
They pat you on the back.
“Anything for Jungkook’s girlfriend.”
You walk through the campus cafeteria, eyes searching for a free table that you can sit alone in. Jungkook had Taekwondo practice so there would be no lovey-dovey feeding time with him.
He’s been a lot tenser since the living room incident (which was already a week ago) and it seemed like he got more agitated as the days passed. Not towards you directly, but he’d always mutter slight insults whenever Yoongi or Taehyung passed by. It made you worried that you had done something to possibly drive a wrench into their relationship without even knowing it.
‘Whatever,’ you thought, ‘I’ll talk about it with him when he comes over later.’
You aren’t able to find a seat, though, when you feel dainty fingers wrap around your elbow to pull you back lightly.
“[Y/N],” Gaeun says in a low voice. “We need to talk.”
It wasn’t like you had been ignoring them deliberately, though that was definitely the case at the start. You just couldn’t find the time to really hang out with them as much as you used to since you were with Jungkook most of the time. It was like that too when Gaeun and Soobin were in relationships, so you never really felt bad about doing it yourself.
“Yeah sure. I miss you guys,” you smile at her, but she doesn’t return it back.
“Come with me.”
Gaeun leads you to a table near the back of the room, where Soobin was sat up against the wall with her own tray of food. You sit down in front of her and Gaeun takes the seat next to Soobin.
“Good, you’re here,” Soobin says, apprehension laced in her voice. “We need to talk about Jungkook.”
You roll your eyes.
“Not this again-”
“[Y/N],” Gaeun warns. “Listen.”
You keep quiet, a little intimidated of how scary their expressions were.
“It’s all a bet,” Soobin says sternly.
You furrow your brows at her. She tends to speak vaguely when you needed her to be specific the most.
“What?”
“It’s a bet, [Y/N],” Gaeun repeats for her. “Jungkook’s only dating you because Taehyung said he’d pay his rent off if he did.”
You clench your fist on the table. How could they sit there and spew lies so easily?
“What are you guys-”
“Those dicks do this all the time,” Soobin rambles. “They play stupid games with girls just to fucking break their hearts later on and-”
“I don’t believe you,” you say confidently. “Jungkook would never do that to me. Besides-”
Gaeun didn’t even wait until you stopped talking to play a recording on her phone. The voices were familiar enough to recognize.
“So you’re telling me that Jungkook’s just fucking around with [Y/N] because he wants priority registration? You have to be fucking joking...”
You could tell from the sound of the person’s voice that it was Soobin. It sounded like she was putting on her clothes.
“Of course not. He’s doing it for priority registration and his rent getting paid for the rest of the year. I’m not joking when I say Tae goes big with his bets. He likes to flex his money on us like that.”
Your jaw drops at the sound of the man’s voice. It was Yoongi. You were sure of it.
“And you guys don’t feel bad? Like at all?”
“Why should we? Jungkook’s planning to break up with her next week anyway so she doesn’t catch feelings for too long. It’s not like they were gonna last past the three-month deal...”
Gaeun paused the recording when she sees you bite your lip so harshly that blood starts to surface. This didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel real.
“I hooked up with him last weekend,” Soobin admits, shame written all over her face. “He was spewing stuff about Jungkook spending all his time with you and not really hanging out with the boys like he used to.”
“You still hook up with Yoongi? After all he did to you?” you ask, not meaning to come off aggressive but undoubtedly did.
“Look,” Gauen starts, taking the heat off of Soobin. “She was just drunk and looking to have fun. I was with her that night and I was talking to Namjoon. He...”
Gaeun trailed off, but you were sick of it. Sick of being kept in the dark from something you should’ve known all along.
“What?”
“H-he told me that all the boys were getting tired of him playing around with you,” she says, twiddling with her fingers. “He’s supposed to break up with you today. Some of the guys think he’s just prolonging it to fuck with you and they’re getting really annoyed-”
You bite back the tears threatening to spill over any minute now.
“Hoseok and Seokjin told me to trust Jungkook. They said he wouldn’t hurt me-”
“Did they also tell you that their rent gets paid too if Jungkook pulled through with the bet?” Soobin replies angrily. “Because they live together, don’t they?”
You open your mouth but no sound comes out- just a small whimper. Your lips start to quiver and you bite your lip again to calm yourself down. When you had collected your thoughts, you glared up at the two girls.
“And you didn’t tell me this earlier?”
Soobin scoffed.
“You were fucking ignoring us too, how were we supposed to tell you?”
“Still it wouldn’t have killed you to-”
“Don’t take your anger out on us,” Gaeun warns, her finger pointing at you. “Jungkook is the one to blame. We told you from the start that he was bad news.”
You pursed your lips and Gaeun put her finger down, feeling guilty that she lashed out on you when obviously you were just processing the information.
“Hey, I’m sorry-”
“Why me?” you ask with teary eyes. “What did I even do to them to deserve this?”
They glance over at each other for a long while before Soobin breaks the silence. You had the right to know, but at the same time, they knew it would break you.
“It’s a sick game that they play where they just choose someone randomly...” Soobin starts off gently handing off the next few words to Gaeun, “and you were just the first girl to walk into Professor Kwon’s lecture hall. He thought you’d be...”
“Easy,” Soobin finished.
Just as they predicted, you had burst out in tears.
Jungkook opens the door to your apartment, using the spare key you had given him a month earlier since he tended to visit often. It was more convenient that way.
He was freshly out of his Taekwondo garb, still sweaty, but otherwise clean from taking a shower at the campus gym. He found it strange at how dark the room was, but he knew you were on the couch from the noticeable lump of a blanket on it.
All Jungkook wanted was to cuddle with you and fall asleep in your arms after such a harrowing day. Lord knows he needs your warmth right now.
He smiled as he made his way towards you, but stops in his tracks when you sit up from where you laid. He couldn’t quite see you in the darkness so he walked to the light switch to turn the lights on. His heart broke at the sight of you.
Tears stained your cheeks, your eyes red and puffy from all the crying. You looked a mess and his blood boiled at the thought of someone hurting you.
“What happened?” he asked, rushing over to you and cupping your face in his hands. You push him away.
“You don’t have to act anymore,” you say softly. “I can handle it.”
He looks at you with furrowed brows.
“What are you talking about-”
“I get that you really need the money,” you say through bated breaths, “I get that financially, it would have really helped, but did you really have to hurt me to do that?”
Jungkook’s breathing stopped. Everything was happening too quickly, his world crashing down when you uttered those words. He knew what this meant, knew that now you would see past his lies. Jungkook couldn’t have you finding out this way.
He kneeled in front of you, attempting to wipe away the tears from your eyes but you push him off.
“[Y/N] no-”
“It could’ve been anyone,” you whimper, trying to look up at the ceiling to prevent any more tears from falling down. “Anyone could’ve walked through that door and you would’ve been okay with it.”
“That’s not true-” he interjects but you stop him.
“A-and you flirted with me all the time ‘cause you knew that I wasn’t used to it,” you say, your voice quivering. “You took advantage of me.”
Jungkook shakes his head rapidly, eyes pleading for you to let him speak. It hurt seeing you refuse to even look at him, to have your eyes so filled with sadness because of what he did to you. He fucked up, he fucked up so bad.
“No, you have to listen-”
“They told me not to trust you,” you whimper somberly. “They told me and I didn’t believe them because I... I was delusional or something. I thought that someone like you could actually like someone like me-”
His heart broke. It wasn’t you that didn’t deserve him. It was him. All him.
“Please don’t say that-”
“Did you come here to seal the deal? To finally break up with me?” you ask sadly. “Are you happy you’ll get the classes you want next quarter, Jungkook?”
He clenches his teeth. Jungkook knows you’re mad, knows you have a right to be, but it feels like he’s being cornered by you. Why won’t you give him the chance to speak?
“[Y/N], no,” he says sternly, “You have to trust me when I say that it went past just a bet. I like you. Genuinely, I like you.”
There was no point in lying any longer. You deserved to know the truth, but he needed you to know all of it- not just the information your friends cherry-picked to fit their narrative. He tried to speak again, but you wouldn’t let him.
“How could you,” you whimper. “How could someone be so cruel?”
Jungkook’s heart breaks at the words. He should’ve seen this coming. How could he delude himself into thinking he’d be okay if you find out- that he’d be fine seeing you heartbroken? He was disgusted with himself.
“I’m sorry [Y/N],” he whispers. “I’m so sorry.”
You shake your head, your vision getting blurry from the tears. He clasps your hands in his, knowing that it used to soothe you whenever you felt worried over something, but you just wailed harder at his touch. He didn’t know what to do, he didn't even know where to start.
“Stop pretending like you care,” you cry. “Please. It hurts.”
“It was a bet,” he admits and he breaths through the words to prevent himself from getting too emotional, “but I promise that my feelings are genuine. You have to trust me.”
“Trust you?” you ask crudely.
You stare at him, slowing your breaths to ease the crying. There was a certain emptiness in your gaze and it scared him. It was awfully frightening having you looking at him with a certain animosity that was not there before. Like he was a stranger.
“I can’t do that anymore, Jungkook,” you say softly, “because I hate you.”
