Okay so in the Miraculous Ladybug fandom I’m like a bystander watching a carcrash in slow motion ...plus I also read fanfic, but haven’t watched the show.

here are some thoughts

As usual when I read fanfic I also get x2000 ideas for my own, I watch the YT videos I get x2000 ideas for fic, I read tumblr tag I get x2000 ideas for fic...

Thus some thoughts I’ve had on Fu.

Like just imagine if Marinette was suspicious of this mentor figure who did not want to reveal himself, but had to because the book was important. Imagine her thinking ‘finally heres an adult to rely on!’ and he just ..does...not.

(provides some middling help and cryptic advice from what I’ve seen and doesn’t really explain anything or train them?)

I get that he’s old and can’t really fight, but his rules for them not revealing themselves sound very...hmm, suspicious.

‘If you reveal you identity EVEN by accident, your ONLY DEFENSE (your miraculous) will be taken away (possibly the same way I gave it to you, secretly) and you’ll deal with the fallout ON YOUR OWN’ - as in if Marinette (the disaster prone, clumsy Marinette, who probably had a million and one close call with her identity) accidentally detransformes like 2 seconds late to her parents entering her room she’s done.

If it’s ANYONE other than her parents, and maybe even then, the likelihood of it getting out into the wider pubilc is pretty great. And we know there’s PLENTY of shady individuals willing to go through her flesh and blood (literally) to find themselves some magic.

And Fu, well, he’d disappear. Probably take Black Cak miraculous from Adrien too, cause Chat Noir would try to help Ladybug regardless.

This is not even the danger level of if Adrien detransforms in some tricky situation and his miraculous is taken away by Fu (danger might be about the same if it were taken by Hawkmoth trash) and he left (likely unknown to himself) in Hawkmoth’s hands. We know from Chat Blanc what kind of trash Gabriel is.

Also, Marinette with her history of being bullied in school with ineffective teachers and faculty, well, she should know the sound of an adult who will not help. Adult who will leave it up to you. (with a ‘be a bigger person’ ‘you can do it’ ‘you’re strong’ speech and all)

Also, did Fu ever even complete his Guardian training or? was he just the only option? Why would Tikki and Plagg trust his judement on ‘taking away Miraculous’? Hell why would anyone? Did he not lose Nooro and Duusu? . I was also curious, since timelines seem a bit...wonky.

Did Hawkmoth start shit up because Fu woke up Tikki and Plagg? Or was it the other way around?

Like how did Hawkmoth know he was in the right city?? Apparently he has a distance limit.

Fu could have dragged his ass around the whole world I mean Gabriel is on a bit of a time limit is he not? he’s a public figure of sorts and if Miraculous is the reason Fu got so old, Gabe won’t be able to fake it forever, puls it’s not like he’s untouchable by law or even so very powerful socially. (things like being able to actually threaten Marinette should not be viable for him at all - like the only thing he might have control on is the fashion industry and even then...his designs seem, eh)

Gabe would likely have been unable to follow him forever or even found him if her hid away in the middle of nowhere (instead of Hawkmoths hometown jeez). How was Gabe even tracking him in hte first place?

Maybe Fu was trying for ‘hiding right under his nose’, but at his age he should have also realized that he was putting countless numbers of people in danger.

Could be argued that Fu is dying and has to find a successor, but like...man hide Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculous in the middle of Sahara or something, pass your Guardianship on and no one effing knows where they are.

Instead he goes, okay lets pick some vulnerable kids, give them magic and rules they need to follow unless they want you to take away the magic. Then leave them to figure everything out on their own (including the fact that they’re essentially fighting your war) and watch them nearly die (or actually die) on television - that won’t damage them at all, after all Miraculous Ladybug heals all hurts right?

While I was thinking on this funnily enough a Doctor Who quote came to me.

‘I said it was their choice, but offer a child a suitcase full of sweets and they’ll take it. Offer them all of time and space and they’ll take that too.’

A lot of responsibility is placed on these kids and  thus every single mistake they make (because they’re kids) is multiplied by how many lives depend on them.

Sometimes I feel like Marinette tries to compensate for the crazy magic stuff with normal stuff she actually wants in her life (that’s like my theory for her super intense crushing that is not bad writing) she doesn’t dislike being Ladybug, but she already has future plans, and they’re being a normal girl.

Ah... in  any case those were some of my Miraculous Ladybug thoughts and ideas for possible fic exploration that may or may not happen
