“Born Once; Die Twice. Born Twice; Die Once.” Unknown.

Born Again. One of the shortest Parable/Metaphor in the Bible.

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.” John 3:3

1) It's dark inside of the mother's womb. When a baby is born, he or she receives light into his eyes for the first time. Nicodemus went to see Jesus at night time, in the cover of darkness. When a person is born again he or she receives the light of the world, Jesus, into his life. "When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12. When a baby is born he goes from darkness (inside the mother's womb) into light (outside world). When a person is born again he or she goes from spiritual darkness into spiritual light.

2) When a baby is born he receives air (pneuma, ruach) into his lungs for the first time. When a person is born again he receives the Holy Spirit (Ruach HaKodesh) into his life. "And with that Jesus breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit." John 20:22

3) When a baby is born he goes from water (ammniotic fluid) into air (outside world). When a person is born again he goes from baptism in water into baptism in the Holy Spirit.

4) When a baby is born Anatomical and Physiological changes take place inside of the baby's heart, “At birth, placental blood flow ceases and lung respiration begins. The sudden drop in right atrial pressure pushes the septum primum against the septum secundum, closing the foramen ovale. The ductus arteriosus begins to close almost immediately.” Fetal Circulation and Changes at Birth. University of Michigan. When a person is born again a spiritual change takes place in his heart. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh." Ezekiel 36:26
