Is the zh in zhe pronounced like the Russian ж, or is just like a z and the h means nothing?

For Storm's pronouns? I'm not very familiar with Russian at all, but after looking up some pronunciations I think ж is pretty similar to what I'm going for, yeah

#I haven't had much of a chance to use the zhe/hir pronouns out loud yet so I'm still pretty flexible about the specifics #although I will say that in my (American southern) accent 'hir' and 'her' are. near indistinguishable.#'hir' gets a slightly higher pitch but that's about it #'zhe' is... hard to describe with my limited vocabulary for actual phonetics?#but like. the zh is somewhere between “sh” and “juh”. then tack an e on the end so... “shje” ??#god I just need to learn the international phonetic alphabet already. it would make this a lot easier #I guess a lot of this could have actually gone in the body of the post instead of tags but here we are #anyway! thanks for asking #the snowjag speaks #the snowjag answers #...one of these days I'll update my personal tags
