So..... I'm calling it, Mahiru and Shidou died because of the other, in the sense that....

If Mahiru died first, could've been either because of natural causes- the girl was in a very bad state and because of Kotoko's bday timeline (2024), Mappi could no longer walk anymore, she had to ask for Kotoko to come to her. Or Amane doing something to her or to something of her equipment (was gonna say this was less probable, but remembered that she literally threatened her in a timeline). And in this case if she died first, Shidou wouldn't have anything holing him here anymore, cause Mappi was his only reason to live, keeping her alive was his "I'm necessary", and once she's dead.

And the other option, that Shidou died first it's a lot crueler for Mahiru. Amane had already killed someone, as we all know, so it doesn't surprise me that she could do it again. "But Shidou is a grown ass man" yes, and a twink, a pacifist and someone that was stated that wanted to die before, but even with his reason to live, if Amane caught him off guard [...] Yeah. In any case, it's a lot crueler to Mahiru cause it means she either saw it happen, or was just left in bed, to slowly die off. Maybe with Yuno helping, maybe with Yuno trying to give her pain killers, but she was just helping Shidou, she didn't know what to do, and now without the guidance, any moment that Mahiru got worse would be her end... And her mental state was very fragile... When she hears about Shidou dying, she would've collapsed. And when someone in her state loses hope, loses the last bits of will to fight.... Then....
