way too much current art flops because someone somewhere makes up a guy in their mind, a guy that impersonates The Most Bad Faith Reader Ever, and in order to prevent any unwanted reaction from said guy they will smooth the edges of anything even close to unconventional or complex that might risk giving them pause. and it goes from more character-defining stuff like making barbara gordon into jim and barbara eileen's biological daughter in prime earth (instead of the messier -and more interesting- situation in new earth) to the stupidly inconsecuential shit such as changing the name "hero" into "haley" because the first one might sound a tad weird to modern audiences.
