4, 10, 19 and 20 for the ask game!!
(meta asks for writers)
4. Share a sentence or paragraph from your writing that you're really proud of (explain why, if you'd like)
someday soon i'm going to clean up this smut and take the sap out of it and post it but i just think this specific passage for a night watch fic was pretty nice. i think jason loves with all he has. i think he can get very black and white about how he feels about things and he's all or nothing because he's a guy who is just always kind of subtly begging to be loved as much as he loves. which is a lot. sex in general isn't something that he seeks out, even less so from a place of casual hooking up, and he's not sickeningly in love with percy yet -- but he does WANT him. he wants that connection, he wants that physical closeness, he doesn't know how to be normal a day in his life and he's not about to start that shit now.
10. How would you describe your writing process?
depends on what it is! if it's a oneshot that only has one or a couple of scene sets, i'll just wing it and go with the flow. if it's a longfic usually i put together a rough outline/stream of consciousness for how i want to to progress, then i'll split it up by chapters/add notes for worldbuilding. both options still need me to sit and marinate them in my brain to see if i actually want to put in the effort to write it lol.
and then i usually will write fairly linear -- i have a lot of issues with writing chunks and bridging them together, because i usually introduce little nuances that change smaller details down the road and have to end up rewriting what's already been written. sometimes i will write pockets of dialogue or character meta that i want to keep, and they go in a separate doc for dropping in later.
19. Is there something you always find yourself repeating in your writing? (favorite verb, something you describe 'too often', trope you can't get enough of?)
HMMMMMMM this is a good question. i don't think it will make it into more than one fic bc i've been Catching It but i started to describe anxiety as being a stone that sears out of your chest and works its way into your stomach. that very specific comparison showed up in two other WIPs after i wrote it the first time and i had to kill it in at least one of them fdibgdb
20. Tell us the meta about your writing that you really want to ramble to people about (symbolism you've included, character or relationship development that you love, hidden references, callbacks or clues for future scenes?)
okay i've been rambling more about this lately to friends already and there are. fat spoilers for rancher au so i'm putting this under a cut in case anybody wants to avoid for whenever i eventually kick it out the door <3<3
bruce as it stands is a difficult character for me to grasp on a good day, and that has been a large part of what is making this chapter for ibgitd (and future ones, I'm sure) go so slowly. big thank you to M for all your help and letting me throw spaghetti to see if all my ideas seem like they would stick. i have been agonizing over choices that this guy would make, ones that would directly alter key plot points.
bruce makes a choice, in a very vital moment, to save dick rather than a copycat "jason", and by extension a slew of gcpd also suffer the consequences of this choice. the trolley problem is something i will sit and think about for a while as a thought exercise, and i introduce it here -- if he saves dick, he fails to save multiple people, if he figures out how to save multiple people, dick dies, if he's too slow or refuses to make a choice, everybody dies and it's over in short order. when it is clearly a do-or-die situation, it is dick he chooses.
on a surface level, it's a clear "this is my eldest who i am crazily codependent on and therefore my favorite of course i'm going to save him" moment. but jason has been failed before. jason is being failed again, even unknowingly. jason is not going to be bruce's first choice -- and it is not because bruce does not love him. bruce has already watched his son die once, twice, now a third time, because of choices he actively made that did not prioritize him. jason's first death and his batarang death (i personally do hold fast to the idea that it was a murder, regardless of if bruce is aware of that or not, because this is bullshit dc comics and i think it's narratively a more interesting choice re:pit mechanics) were failures on bruce's part.
jason is a priority for bruce in some ways, but he is not THE priority for bruce. in some way bruce has already watched the son he lost die. the son he got back was different. it didn't look like the boy he loved. i reiterate again that bruce does not hate jason, or at the very least loves him in some capacity, but it is not the same kid he mourned. his perogatives are different, his methods are ones bruce would never use, he is unrepentantly violent. jason is used to being a second third fourth or later choice.
bruce has learned how to operate without him. but he cannot, under any circumstances, operate without dick grayson in his peripheral. he just can't. not as a functional person. dick also has had to learn to live without jason, even if he was more proactive on learning how to live alongside this new one, and he can never not be at bruce's beck and call.
idk if any of this is articulated well or appropriately -- i keep dozing it's been a long day LOL -- but just in exploring the themes of rancher, which are so much about separating yourself from what you knew about your personal identity and self worth, especially the things curated for you by your father.... i don't know! i just think this particular piece of it is a good callback to canon events, even for a canon divergent piece like this, and it will be reiterated in different ways.
#ask game#i didn't read any of that over i have no idea if that makes sense i typed the last paragraph with my eyes closed folded in half#THANK YOU FOR SENDING THIS IN this was fun!!!

// Finally read Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick for the first time, and went in blind (after having read the TV Tropes page for it once a few years ago).
Initial thoughts:
TV Tropes is not kind to the series, but 1) I donât particularly care, since TV Tropes in general is not kind toward paranormal romance series (YA or adult), let alone any series with a female protagonist (doubly so for YA); 2) I find the love interestâs name Patch to be slightly ridiculous, but heâs a fallen angel, so itâs likely not his real name to begin with.
Weâll see how I feel about him toward the end of the book
Thoughts while reading:
So far, I like itâand like that Patch is deliberately written as and pointed out to be creepy, and Nora (the main character) wants nothing to do with him and finds him unnerving.
Though the basketball coach also being the biology teacher, and the current unit being sex ed⌠you can probably see where this goes.
Yikes at the coach deliberately pairing them up together and then refusing to allow Nora to change partners when she says sheâs distinctly uncomfortable around Patch + calling on them in class, too.
Thoughts after finishing reading the first book in the series:
I liked it.
It reads more like a paranormal thriller/horror than a paranormal romanceâto me.
Thereâs 4 books in the series. I donât think itâs a series I would outright buy, but check out from the library? Definitely.
TV Tropes makes the claim that Patch wears Nora down until she feels like she has no choice but to be in a relationship with him & Redditors say heâs worse than Edward Cullen, but⌠I didnât get that impression at all.
yes when Patch finally admits to Nora what the hell is going on and that heâs a fallen angel, he initially wanted to kill her (bc sheâs the descendant of a Nephil) so he can become humanâhe hates being a fallen angel, and the only reason he fell in the first place was bc he fell in love with a human and he wanted to be with her (and didn't know that he would become fallen; he thought he would become human).
anyway, he doesnât kill Nora even after coming clean about all this bc heâs fallen in love with herâand if he actually wanted to kill her, he could have done so easily multiple times throughout the book
part of the reason Patch is stalking her (outside of his own reasons) is bc there are two other angels out there who want to kill Nora to get revenge on Patch, and theyâve come pretty damn close multiple times
for a good chunk of the book, these angels have all played mind games with Nora, terrorizing her and making her think sheâs slowly going crazy
once Patch realizes whatâs really going on, he steps up, sets aside his goal of becoming human, and saves Noraâeven helping her throw off another angelâs mind control.
Patch as a character is very closed off, flat out admits that heâs not a good guy, and he does invade Noraâs personal space more than once when she still doesnât like himâbut their kiss scenes are consensual
by the end of the first book, Patch has regained his wings and is Noraâs guardian angel
I say itâs better than The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare. I liked Nora as a protagonist, and Patch. Couldn't stand Clary and Jace.
I didnât get the Twilight clone impression at all from Hush, Hush, like people on TV Tropes and Reddit were saying. Yeah, Patch and Nora meet in bio class, but the circumstances there are totally different from in Twilightâand for a good chunk of the book, Nora wants nothing to do with Patch and her friend doesnât either.
Honestly, I could make a pretty good case that Becca Fitzpatrick accidentally wrote Nora as demisexualâsheâs never been attracted to anyone before Patch, was never interested in romance, and itâs not until after she forms a bond with him that she starts feeling sexually attracted to him.
Don't get me started about the Too Dumb to Live entry on this series' TV Tropes page.
Nora also proves herself to fit this trope. A prime example would be when she is stranded in Portland and accepts a ride home from Patch, even though he chased her through a parking lot and scared her not so long ago. She then just stands there while he arranges for them to spend the night in a motel together, and apparently thinks she can hold off Patch (who has repeatedly proven to be stronger than her) if he tries anything. She later is point-blank told by Patch that he has planned to murder her and knows that he can influence her thoughts and feelings and still thinks it's a good idea to date him!!!
Except... she had literally nowhere else to go during the motel sequence. No car, since she took the bus to Portland. No coat, no cell phone, tried tracking down Vee but couldnât find herâand Patch, for once, wasnât stalking her but was in the area anyway. Road conditions thanks to a heavy storm (because Maine) meant they had to stop at the motelâand it led to a scene where they finally open up to each other. So.

Campaign 2 Wrap Up: Anna Potatoesandsunshine Edition
Seemed like it would be fun to go through all the fan content I made for this campaign and try to find at least one thing I like about each thing! Kind of like looking back through a photo album. Under the cut because as it turns out, I wrote kind of a lot! (As in, 21 fics and 3 playlists kind of a lot!)
the sea, once it casts its spell (fjord speculation, whatâs up with all this ocean stuff?? the fic)
The first thing I wrote for c2, wayyy in the beginning of things. We had no idea about Ukâotoa or Avantika or anyone at this point, it was pure ocean vibes for my favorite warlock. I really like how hard I leaned in on the âthe ocean follows Fjord to landâ idea.
so many things will fill my life (but only one will do) (post-campaign cali/jester fluff, written the night of the cali episode and so sweet it could rot your teeth)
This one is just good. I just did good with this one. Iâm one of those people who hates their own work the night of posting and then when looking back at it goes, âWow, this is great.â My favorite thing is the little gifts sent along with the letters! Cali was so fun and cute :)
when the dust does roam (Beau study up to Episode 42, 2k words of Beau poking at the idea of grief)
Best thing I did in this fic was have Caleb-through-Frumpkin bugging Beau about getting some sleep. They really... theyâre siblings, your honor.Â
â âFuck off, Iâll sleep when Iâm dead.â Beau picks the bird up and sets him in the hood of her own cloak, out of reach of any weasels or startled monks in the morning. Itâd suck to have to tell Caleb that his Frumpkin got eaten by Sprinkle.â Câmon guys, letâs do the sibling dance.
keep your swords out by your sides (the idea for this was, What If Fjord Has Nightmares From Ukâotoa Every Night and just doesnât remember them)
Assigning everybody a word Ukâotoa had said for each nightmare in this was a challenge; I went into it knowing I wanted Caleb for Learn and Caduceus for Consume and had to guess the rest - for an angry eye snake Ukâotoa didnât give us a ton of quotes.Â
â He reaches over and runs a hand along the wall of the ship. From his touch, mushrooms begin sprouting.â Caduceus starting to decompose the Mistake in the middle of cooking was maybe the best moment in this story for me. Like, yeah. Yeah. Ok you funky little grave cleric.
strange but not a stranger (Caleb & Jester, in the immediate aftermath of Calebâs charm in Episode 55)
the first of my âthe Mighty Nein wonât have these conversations with each other in canon so they have to be had in ficâ ideas that turned into a full-fledged story. I still had not discovered the em dash at this point, so the formatting of this makes me cringe a little bit, but this fic was really about The Emotions Of Being Out Of Control which turned out to be a very big Thing for the Mighty Nein.
now this story was when swords were humble (fake academia mixed with a Yasha study)
Honestly Iâm still obsessed with the AU I made here where Yasha was just awakening every sword she used without knowing it?? Why did I use that here only?? That might come back. But the best part about this fic is the citations; me at my most in-joke and ridiculous.
through the teeth of this tempest (Written in the immediate aftermath of Episode 69, Yasha internally trying to break Obannâs control over the course of a month.)
The most âI wrote this to cope with canonâ fic out of all of them. I was crying writing this, I was so upset that Yasha was gone ugh just remembering it. Still waiting for past me to discover the em dash, I genuinely donât know why I didnât know how to do it and Iâve thought about going back and editing all of these but Iâm just Not Gonna Do All That. Anyway, I really like how Yasha catches lightning with her sword in this. We all really manifested that happening.
nothing more than what the losers settle for (Time travel, a series of oneshots where each member of the m9 sans Caduceus went back to a different point in the timeline and murdered Trent Ikithon)
This was my longest fic for c2, so Iâm mostly just glad it got finished. This happened somewhere around the time Matt released that set of notes that mentioned Trent in more detail and I hated him so much I just had to write him dying six times. That speaks for itself.
Revolutionary!Fjord was also a good turn. He could pull it off, I think.
weâre gonna show âem a thing, or two, or three (Jester growing up fluff!)
I really like how I did Jester & Artagan in this, even though he barely appears. Someone better at songwriting than me please write the Dragon Song. Em dash makes an appearance here but the formatting is still wrong. I Am Once Again Asking For Proper Use Of The Em Dash.
the best things (happen while youâre dancing) (Mid-Episode 97 Divergence, Jester taking the reins at the party + hints of jester/beau/yasha bc i still love my girls so much)
Jesterâs a little out of character in this, but not wildly so, and it was for the purposes of a Trapped By Societal Convention plot that I wanted her to mastermind so I think it was fine in the end. Iâm still fascinated by the way she unbalanced Ludinus Daâleth in basically every interaction they had, and while their scene feels pretty cliche in this... the cliches are there for a reason. Theyâre so fun to write.
Em dash my beloved, there you are.
plus thirty-one varieties of sacramental wine (The Galavant crossover that truly nobody asked for, Beau + the monks)
Yeah, this oneâs just fun. Not much more to say about it. Critical Role and Galavant are both fantasy, but theyâre honestly pretty different in tone, and it was fun to write Beau dropped into a comedy musical.
oh we were sea-bound and aimless at best (Purely angst, a What If The Fjord & Orly Resurrections Didnât Work fic)
Made myself care about Marius with this one, yâall. What more can I say? Beau having to go from first mate to captain was just... deliciously painful, because she would.
lost my shape trying to act casual (Beau & Yasha during travelercon, another mid-episode fic, this time of 104)
Yasha comforting Beau, who feels guilty for not feeling guilty... That Mighty Nein wasnât lying, Mind Control and Autonomy can be themes. Another in the âthe Mighty Nein wonât have these conversations with each other in canon so they have to be had in ficâ tank. They really just... didnât open up to each other for a long time, which made sense, but I wanted them to.
so long as you donât mind a little dying (Beau & Caduceus, sometime in the peace talks arc)
Keeping with the Mighty Nein Please Talk To Each Other theme, I feel like I did a pretty good job with the late-night conversation energy of this fic. This was at a time when I was looking at Caduceus, can opener in hand, ready to make this firbolg open up about his feelings. Beau in this is prickly and confrontational but only in service of her friendâs well-being.
amber light, bending (Eiselcross speculation, Widofjord and all the messiness therein)
THE widofjord fic of my two widofjord fics. The blueprint. The better one. Finally I got the dynamic figured out. I maintain that the tower is an absolute expression of Calebâs love for his friends. The way that neither of them have the braincell in this fic... yeah this one is just good.
and a blade between them (Widofjord happening... sometime.)
Okay so this is not as good as amber light and I will never be able to look at it and like it as much, but it was still fun to write. Anyway, the intimacy of shaving someone else. That is good. The tag âif they didnât want me to think about the blood pact they shouldnât have made the blood pactâ is the most useful takeaway from this fic and is the driving force behind the Fjord/Jester/Caleb fic Iâm working on now, so it wasnât a waste of time or anything.
feel the ground beneath my feet turn into the sky (Post-Campaign Astrid-retires-to-Nicodranas, Astrid/Jester)
This is another one where Iâm like âYeah, this is just good.â Packed full of Wizard Fashion, Artagan making an appearance to rope Astrid into having a happier future, and the power of Going To The Seaside. Good for you, fic-Astrid.
spend your days biting your own neck (Role-reversal where Beau is the one mind-controlled this time and Yasha is the one chasing after her, set very early in the Tomb Takers arc)
So much of this fic is about not saying things aloud - Beauâs POV spends a good chunk on body language and Yasha writes multiple letters on paper and in her own head - but devotion bleeding through anyway because thereâs nowhere else for it to go. The two of them go tumbling over a cliff together at the end but Yasha has wings, ugh. Yeah this was a good one.
and blow the dry leaves from the tree (Somewhere before the beauyasha date but otherwise timeline-nonspecific Nicodranas, Yasha & Yeza become friends)
Yasha & Yeza making pancakes together when neither of them know how to do so... is good. This fic is very much about grief sneaking in, but itâs even more about finding someone to share the moment with you. I think these two have more in common than we think.
oh, lend a mending hand (Caleb & Caduceus during Beauâs tombstone meditation in Episode 130)
I wrote this entire fic as an excuse for Caleb and Caduceus to hug and it does what it says on the tin. Got em.
itâs about the passing of measures (Beauyasha at the end of Episode 134, Aeor speculation)
This fic got extremely sidetracked because I rediscovered the marble machine during it and I do not apologize for that. I still really like the idea that Aeor as a whole, not just the Cognouza, is somewhat-alive. Too much magic and too much death for it to be anything else, in my mind. And Iâm a sap for hurt/comfort.
the blumentrio playlist nobody asked for
If I think too much about how deep in each other these three people are I will cry. Made myself a soundtrack for those tears.Â
the caleb playlist nobody asked for
what if this angsty wizard had a playlist of songs that mostly just... make me want to dance? that question was answered here.
the caduceus playlist nobody asked for
songs about home, leaving home, dying, changing, becoming someone new, coming home and finding itâs changed... this to me is caduceus.
yeah... this campaign has been fun!! I probably wonât stop making things about it; I still write about Vox Machina, for crying out loud, but... it feels good to lay it all out like this. Itâs been a long few years, and itâs wild to be seeing the end of it now.
#yes tumblr hates links yes here is an overlong post with 24 links#now THIS is why you make a blog. to look at your own work and say yeah several times.#critical role#i have some stuff i've been working on but i don't see any of it getting finished before the epilogue#looking back at everything is like... yeah! i had a lot of fun here!#anna's fic notes

As previously warned, I have a huge number of questions for the fanfic author ask thing. So, here we go: 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 24, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 31, 33, 36, 37 and then, if that wasnât already enough, and there is anything you want to answer that I havenât already asked, then pick one of your choosing to answer as well! đ
Holy crap you werenât kidding! lol this is gonna be so much fun!
4: What made you start writing fanfiction?
My 3rd grade teacher, Mr. Gula, gave me a challenge to write out my own ending to my favorite movie or TV show. As I was never really one to back down from a challenge, I went home and wrote out my own story about the first Transformers movie and another one about what I would do if I had been in HIgh School Musical. Yeah... needless to say, I was the Hermione of my grade.
5: Favorite pairing?
I know I donât write for them, but my top is probably either Dee Dee and Frankie from the Beach Blanket Bingo, Bikini Beach, and Muscle Beach type movies or Seaweed and Penn from Hairspray. Something about those types of romance are sort of sweet to me. Guess Iâm just an old soul. I also adore Cory and Topanga form Boy Meets World, but Iâm mostly here for the older romances.
6: Least favorite pairing?
Iâll probably get flack for all of my answer, but Iâm a little bit opinionated about this lol. The way Ginny and Harryâs relationship in the films was, was just confusing and so not what I had expected from them. The books gave them so much more than the movies ever did. The books were way better. Another case I donât like was Bella and Edward/Renesmee and Jacob from Twilight. I think the other relationships in Twilight were better (Jasper and Alice are so sweet!) and Stephanie Meyer just kinda tossed Bella and Edward and Renesmee and Jacob together in the hope it would work and it just didnât.
12: Whatâs the weirdest fic youâve ever written?
I canât believe Iâm admitting to this.... I used to write full stories about One Direction. I had a full Niall x OC story I posted on a 1D Imagines group on Facebook that got almost 2,000 likes. It was silly, but, my word, it was almost as long as Broken Record. It spanned over the month of October 2014 and I canât believe it ot the attention it did. It wasnât all that good, but I guess it was good enough for people to like it, so thatâs alright by me lol
13: Weirdest fic youâve ever read?
I donât believe itâs on fanfiction anymore, but I remember the basic info on it. It was Make a Wish by FireBladePrime. It was pretty much a girl made a wish on a shooting star and it made her favorite toys come to life as full size humans. I believe she ended up falling in love with one, but Iâm pretty sure it just ended up being something that she came up with in her head when she was in a coma due to a car accident. Definitely a weird one, but it was pretty well written as far as memory serves.
14: Do the people in your life know you write fic? How do they feel about it?
Well, quite a bit of my family knows, actually. It started with just my parents, but my dad was always wanting to show off whatever his baby princess did (I was his only biological child, my older siblings were from my momâs ex-husband). Dad shared with his siblings, mom shared with her siblings and my grandfather. My nieces and nephews know as well, but I believe thatâs it. As far as I know, they are all very supportive and have no problem with it. My neice, Lorali, and nephews, Erek and Drake, have read all of my Teen Beach fics and quote things from them daily just to see if Iâll react, but they mostly just like reading them or having me read to them. Theyâre very loving and supportive of my writing.
15: Favorite fandom to write for?
I donât know if I could pick one! I love Teen Beach so much, but I also have a certain affinity for writing small oneshots or âx Readerâ style stories for Avengers and Harry Potter which can be found here and here. I do share the Harry Potter page with my sister, but she handles reblogging things to our page. Anyway, those would probably be my top fandoms!
17: What is the harshest criticism youâve ever gotten on a fic?
Holy crap. Okay, I may or may not have repressed this for a long time, but I have more than one that I canât decide between. The other one was from a girl in my class who stole my writing notebook and read my writing. Fuck you, Ashley She gave it back to me later that day with marker scribbles all over my writing. She said that I was horrible. The next day, I stole the makeup bag she had brought from her motherâs bathroom and buried it on the playground.
I was a good child that believed in getting even. Nobody found out about that btw.
Anyway, the first real criticism I had on a fic was someone who said, âYou have no talent and you shouldnât be writing. It all sucks and youâll never go anywhere as an author.â I had actually written this down and, when I felt it no longer mattered to me, I burned it. It took me a couple of years to come to the realization that their opinion didnât matter to me.
20: Whatâs your biggest struggle when it comes to writing fic?
Having time to sit down and write, probably. I usually have great ideas, but, in order to write them out and have them come out alright, I would need to sit down and feel it all come together while I write. I need time that I just donât have most of the time.
21: Your biggest strength?
When I sit down to write, it all just flies out of me. Once i start, I donât stop until my idea is all out into either m notebook or my computer. I can have a simple idea that somehow spirals into an eight page chunk that I never thought was possible. I like to think of that as my biggest writing strength.
24: Whatâs your process?
Write out the âbackbone plotâ (The stuff that has to happen, no matter what)
Decide on characters. Figure out appearance, personality and basic traits. (Sorta like a sim, I guess)
Bounce ideas with whoever will listen/listen to music (Gain ideas and write them in a small notebook)
Wait for inspiration and time to line up accordingly.
Write as much as I can.
Go back into that later on and edit what needs to be there and delete what isnât necessary.
Publish!
I hope thatâs what this means, at least.
25: Of all the fics youâve written, which is your favorite?
Most definitely Broken Record and Creating a Rift. It was one of my first published stories and I just adore them.
26: Which of your fics is your least favorite?
I donât even know how to find it anymore, but it was called Lifeâs a Rollercoaster. It was a Transformers fic that I had written when I was 11. Never finished it bc I lost the login stuff and it, now that I remember it, sucked hard.
27: Whatâs your most popular fic? Do you think the popularity is warranted, or is there another fic that you think deserves it more?
Any of them really! I love that Broken Record has had almost 10,000 reads, but I donât believe it. As I go back over it, I wonder how on earth it gained popularity in the first place, but I couldnât be happier that it did!
29: Which of your fics was the hardest to write?
My book. Probably the Christmas one, tbh. I only feel the pull to write it around the holidays and that kinda sucks lol
30: Favorite fic writers?
You better know youâre number one, girlie! For those who donât know, Eleanor here is one of my closest internet friends and sheâs practically family to me at this point!
As for other authors, I love Ulurnagaâs Primary Mechanisms story (Transformers). I know she hasnât updated it since 2014, but it was so good that she couldâve left it at multiple parts and it wouldâve been fine. I think it has abot 118 chapters to it. I have a few favorites from AutobotGuy710 who does a lot of Transformers stories basing around adoption (helps for my references and also a better understanding of what goes on a bit in adoptions/foster care). On Tumblr, I have a few faves, but not a ton. I like imagine-and-marvel and potterlyimagines fics a lot, but thatâs about it at the moment as I havenât sat down to read fics in a little while.
31: Do you write just for fun, or would you ever consider pursuing writing?
A bit of both, actually. I mostly enjoy writing my fics as a bit of an escape from reality. I enjoy being able to place myself in a world that doesnât exist and sort of play around a bit. However, I do actually write as a job. I was working for my county newspaper for a while and that spiraled into me writing my first book, Feather Picked. I am currently writing one of the sequels to Feather Picked which takes the focus from my original main character, Melody, and moves it to her best friend, Roxy. I am planning on publishing a total of at least 5 books, the first four being the chronological 4 that take place over the course of a full year, each taking one season. The last one will be a look into the future, hopefully.
My first book can be found here!
33: Fanfiction pet peeves?
Goodness gracious. As someone who loves English classes, when people donât place paragraphs correctly or spell simple words correctly, it reeeeeeally grinds my nerves. I will still sit through a story if itâs a well plotted story, but, come on people, at least do proper paragraphing!!!
Also, when people spell âdefinitelyâ as âdefiantlyâ...... uuuuuuuuggggghhhhhhhhh
36: Which charachter(s) would you never write for?
For this one, I donât really have much to say.
Probably characters from shows like soap operas or shows that never seem to end. If I canât grasp the characterâs backstory or personality after watching it because it never stops changing whenever it benefits the story or what the writers have planned, I refuse to write for them.Â
Mary Sue types like Bella Swan who are merely the damsel in distress and are only there to play out the authorâs wish to be put in some type of scenario where everyone fawns over them constantly (can be applied to male characters as well).
37: Which character is your favorite to write for?
Out of already made characters: Butchy, Lela, Cheech, Evie, Ben, Harry Hook, Bucky Barnes, Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood.
Out of my OCs: Mick, Malina, Roxy Madden, Candi DiMaggio
Since you said I could pick one if I wanted, Iâm going to pick #40.
40: Imagine yourself 10 years in the future; do you think youâll still be writing fic?
I think I will be, yes. I donât think my ideas for movies and books will ever stop. Especially knowing what I have planned after Creating A Rift is done. But... thatâs a story for another time, lol

Until Dawn Characters RANKED
I honestly love this game to death. When it came out a few years ago and I kind of bought it as a last minute game to speed through on new yearâs eve, I didnât realise how cool of a game it was going to be and how much fun you can get out of multiple playthroughs. Now that I know basically everything about the game, I really wish I could wipe that knowledge from my brain and play it fresh u feel. Anyway, the characters, despite their sometimes awkward, cringey dialogue, are one of the driving factors of the game so in this list, Iâll be ranking these strange teenagers in order of personal preference. Hope u donât hate me for potentially roasting your fave!
Just to say, I genuinely think all these characters are well-written n everything, this list is literally who I like and who I donât. Also, I wonât be including Hannah, Beth or the Stranger bc they get like 5 minutes of screentime and it wouldnât be fair to compare them to the main eight.
Until Dawn spoilers under the cut!

8. Emily

Iâm sorry, I literally cannot stand Emily. She spends pretty much the whole game being horrible to everyone (deliberately starting beef with Jess, literally cheating on my boi Matt), while only being truly nice to Matt when it serves her own interests. She strikes me as a very manipulative, bordering on abusive personality (making Matt feel like heâs in the wrong for questioning why she had to go back and talk to Sam at the start of the game and donât even get me started on the whole âEmily is always rightâ thing). So yeah, sheâs an intelligent character and a capable survivor, but sheâs pretty much just a downright terrible person and it took all of my willpower not to get her killed on purpose.
7. Jess
Just so you know, beyond this point, I actually like all of the characters. The thing about Jess is she isnât an especially bad person and in a way I feel bad for her more than I do the others because she has no clue that Mike is cheating on her like at all. Itâs just that sheâs absent for a huge chunk of the game and you never truly get to know her, other than a very brief, heavy-handed look at her insecurities because, by the end of the game, youâve either killed her in chapter 4 or sheâs so weak from her massive fall at the end of the game that her character is completely gone because sheâs like, half dead. So yeah, I donât mind Jess, we just donât spend enough time with her in game to form a connection.
6. Mike
Mike is probably the character you spend the most time playing as in total and is also pretty much the hardest to kill (even though I still managed to in my first playthrough). What Iâm about to say kind of contradicts my immediate dislike for Mike over his asshole personality and the fact that heâs cheating on Jess, but heâs the only character in the whole game who I genuinely think has some character development. By the end of the game, you can tell heâs kind of a changed guy after going through all the shit that happened in the game. What kept him from climbing higher on this list was, despite the development, he still almost kills/actually does kill Emily later in the game. Like, I donât like her either, but it was a lil rash to immediately threaten to kill her for not leaving the room.
5. Josh
This is a bit of a complex one for a lot of reasons and I wasnât sure where to put him, so heâs been slapped in the middle. Personally, I donât blame Josh for the events of the game. Sure, it was pretty messed up to even set that prank up in the first place, but by the end of the game, you know that Josh has a lot of psychological issues that were around even way before he lost both of his sisters and had just come off of his meds without taking the full course before everyone came back to the lodge. By the time everyone is aware of the Wendigos, Josh is a guilty, distraught shell of the guy he was when the game starts. The fact that the only two canon endings for his character were either death or getting Wendigoâd feels bitter to me, he deserved better than that. Iâm not saying heâs innocent in this, but thereâs a lot of factors that came with him orchestrating the prank, not to mention that he obviously had no idea his friends would actually die from a threat he didnât know about at the time.
4. Ashley
Overall, I like Ashley. Throughout most of the game, sheâs a helpful asset to the group who has good chemistry with most of the other characters, most notably Chris because they spend the most time together (even though I was way more banking on Chris and Josh being a thing, this game is very straight). But Ashley ranks higher than some others purely because she has an intriguing darker side to her character that you donât quite expect at first, but almost makes her seem cruel. The fact that she immediately wants to kill Emily upon discovering her bite, as well as the fact that she can even passively kill Chris if you choose to âshootâ her earlier in the game on her request, gives her character a more vengeful edge. With a game full of characters youâre already kind of aware arenât the soft beans you want them to be, Ashley is a slow burner who makes the game much more interesting later on.
3. Chris
Chris strikes me as someone who is desperately trying to be funny to get the attention he craves from his friends. Heâs a little insensitive at times and doesnât seem to listen to people on occasion if they contradict what he already thinks to be true (basically any scene that mentions a ghost), but itâs easy to forget that Chris wasnât even a part of the prank that got Hannah killed. He was passed out drunk with Josh (in fact, the game even forgets this at one point during his lil talk with Ashley in the old hotel). But overall, Chris tries his best to be a good friend to Josh and everyone else, even when theyâre all going through a lot of trauma, and I respect him for that.
2. Sam
When I say that Mike is the only character who properly gets a development arc, I mean that in two ways; that the good people stay good and the bad people stay bad. Sam is one of the good ones. Throughout the whole game, start to finish, Sam is a resourceful, well-rounded character with a strong moral compass that seems absent among most of her friends. I donât really have a hell of a lot more to say about Sam. Sheâs just great.
Honorable mentions:
Doggo
Dr. Hill (gonna be honest I totally forgot about him until I wrote this sentence but heâs a cool n weird character I guess)

1. Matt
Literally nothing can change my opinion that Matt is a soft perfect boi who takes a lot of shit from people (Emily especially). Okay heâs not literally perfect, he took part in the prank after all, but this guy is so relatable and down to earth and heâs the one I most want to whisk away from Until Dawn like no you donât belong here, you donât deserve this trauma u sweet boi. It annoys me how easy it is to kill him. (Also, special mention to that convo between him and Emily where heâs like âIâm trying to be all like, you know... sexyâ just reinforced in my mind how pure this boi is)
Thanks for readin my shitty list. Send in ur fave UD character if u got one. Also, if you feel like I got anything wrong about any of these characters, feel free to let me know.
Have a fun ol day.
