the isu awards are just such a self-report of their favouritism, politics and what the isu actually sees as valuable (and it’s obviously not the longevity, consistency, artistry and musicality that Shoma represents)… they’re literally saying the quiet part out loud with those awards, no shame at all.

For sure. It's a popularity contest but not played with any rules we know.

If you see the fan reactions and everything that fans have said about the awards you see that ISU doesn't care at all for the fans or skaters.

I think @ skatingscores (on X/Twt) said it best:

"The whole concept of an awards show run by the organizing body in a judged sport is yikes."

Also a few things that are crap about this award show:

Giving an award for a year when the skating season is not from year to year but from July to June and the biggest event - the World championship - is yet to come.

Saying fans should vote but then not taking the fans into consideration. Does it make sense?

Also in general if you look at the interactions of sns towards this award, then most ppl are not interested. If you compare the award winning tweets and the normal competition winning tweets it's nothing. If you look at the number of YT views it's laughable. 26+k is not much. 4CC Men SP has 55k+ and that's when countries are blocked to watch the official stream.

This is not making more ppl interested in the sport but makes it look like even more than a fake sport.
