Thank you so much for this addition! Seriously 10/10 stuff <3.
How you said "that they encourage each other to be their best selves entirely independent of what they can offer externally."
YES! THAT!!
Marie and Stein are so much more complex and nuanced as a duo than they get credit for, ugh.
You’re the SteinMarie person right? Can you talk about what you like about them and their dynamic? 😊
Hi! Hello! Sorry for the delay in getting to this ask but thank you for asking me!!
Idk if I’m the SteinMarie person, but I guess we could say I’m one of them??
Hmm, I think I could say that there are two parts to why I like them.
One is that they’re both just. Silly.
Stein gets a lot of attention because of his neurodivergence — for not being able to properly connect with or understand people, and his way of going about it being concerning to say the least. But I’d like to point out that Stein is. Silly. He’s a smartass and an asshole. When he first meets Spirit again in the series, he jokes to him about his wife knowing full well that they’re divorced. He also says that he’d switched his toes during surgery. In the NOT series, he makes a replica of a girl’s head to scare said girl’s friends with. And Marie is introduced to us by way of her deciding to marry a toilet, then pummeling said toilet when she suspects even the toilet of infidelity. Furthermore when confronting the man who killed Marie’s ex, Stein spins and dips Marie. Absolutely ridiculous.
The other is that while they might be externally presented as ridiculous, they don’t view each other as such; rather they don’t view each other as solely scary, or solely silly, but they actually perceive one another as serious people. And, yes, this is my own reading of it — I think that Marie and Stein are willing to understand each other in ways that others don’t.
On the surface Stein is a perceived as a genius with low emotional intelligence, and disregard for others. And Marie, on the surface, is an overly emotional person who people perceive as obsessed with finding love, starting a family, etc. However, these two are able to express patience, support, and trust for one another outside of these roles/assignments/perceptions.
When Naigus tells Marie that Stein isn’t capable of love, Marie follows him anyway. Not because she thinks he’s capable or incapable of love, but because she trusts that he did not kill BJ. Because she wants to catch BJ’s killer, and because she doesn’t want Stein to go through it all alone.
Stein, in turn, doesn’t question Marie moving into his lab when Lord Death places her as his partner. Instead he exercises patience and support for her moving across the world, for her putting her life and other goals on hold because she holds herself responsible in her duty as a Death Scythe. He also doesn’t question her investment in others as being frivolous; her investment in finding BJ’s killer isn’t about a romantic option being taken away from her, but about giving BJ justice, which Stein is likewise willing to help her do because, yes their interests align, but also because I think he respects the principal of it (this could also go into a whole tangent on Stein’s mental/ideological support system through partnership but I’ll not get into that now).
Patience. Support. Trust.
I think it’s a common reading that Marie makes him better because of her healing wavelength, or because she knows how to take care of him. I hate this interpretation, tbh. I won’t say that that’s not real or how it’s written, because it is in the sense that Medusa and Marie are foils of one another in a fairly reductive way: Medusa as the villain without motherly/caretaker instinct, one who abuses Crona, corrupts Stein, and Marie as the hero with motherly/caretaker instinct, one who comforts Crona, heals Stein. Her goodness in this sense is tied to her ability to be a caretaker and a mother. Blegh.
Marie's goodness is linked to her own principles of justice and kindness, imo. And Stein isn’t someone who needs to be guided so much as someone who needs his own insecurities around his sense of morality challenged.
Agh, sorry this is so long. And also sorry if it isn’t super coherent? I hope it makes a modicum on sense lol. And again, thank you for the ask!

Hi hello ok imagine a Soul Eater KinnPorsche AU. Who would be the meister and who would be a weapon?
ANON I NEED YOU TO KNOW THAT I LOVE YOU
Alright so i'm gonna consider each couple and some other characters!
KINN x PORSCHE
Kinn is a Meister and Porsche is a weapon, no doubt about it. I'm not sure about what kind of weapon, though... it should be something that allows him to fight alone like Giriko, so no guns or other firearms, although they would be very cool and in tune with the show lol
But wait, maybe he could be a gun, but still be able to partially turn into his weapon form to fight without having to rely on a Meister's help 🤔 it doesn't work like this for Liz and Patty, but this is our AU and we make our rules 😎
OR he could be in a Liz and Patty kinda situation with his brother, so he would act as a Meister when it's only the two of them around.
VEGAS x PETE
Vegas gives me weapon vibes. Maybe he'd be some mixture of the two, like Maka in the anime. He wouldn't let anyone wield him, though, too controlling to let someone else take the reins. He would also be on his way to become a Kishin 💀 you can't tell me that man wouldn't eat a human soul or two if given the chance gduybricbey
He'd probably be very susceptible to the influence of Madness, like Stein, so he'd need someone with a healing wavelength like Marie by his side.
That would be Pete 😎
What kind of weapon would Vegas be? I think something like a dagger, or he could also have different forms to choose from, like Tsubaki.
KIM x PORCHAY
Kim is the Meister and Porchay is the weapon. Like I said before, I can see Porchay and Porsche sharing the same Demon Weapon form and using each other to fight when necessary.
TANKHUN
He would've been a Meister in different circumstances. He would also have the ability to see other people's souls, like Maka.
MYSTERIOUS LESBIAN ASSASSIN MY BELOVED
SHE'S A WITCH, BABY! The witches in Soul Eater are usually based on animals (Medusa is based on snakes, Eruka on frogs, etc etc) so what animal could she be? Some sort of nocturnal bird?
#i have the best anons bye#this was so much fun!#thanks for the ask anon!#kinnporsche#kinnporsche series#kinnporsche the series#soul eater#vegaspete#soul eater au#kinnporsche x soul eater#kimporchay

Oh, I love this so so much.
Huge huge HUGE agree. The idea that Marie is out here making Stein 'better' because of her healing wavielength is such a. . .flat reading of their relationship. Something I love so much about SteinMarie is that they encourage each other to be their best selves entirely independent of what they can offer externally. Stein is a meister who doesn't need a weapon, and Marie is a weapon who doesn't need a meister. It's not about NEED with them, but about want. They have shared history and admiration for one another, and that makes them so incredibly strong as a relationship.
Marie doesn't so much as make him better, I think, as she encourages him to step up by being a radiant force. But at the same time, not in the way other people might assume. Marie drinks out of the beakers, Marie makes the dark humor jokes, Marie has a sharp temper and a deep love for those around her. Yes, she's empathetic and warm, but that's not necessarily what makes Stein step up. It's not her taking care of him, but her as a person with qualities he sees they share, and also qualities he does not have that he appreciates.
Because Stein encourages Marie by accepting her wholeheartedly. The arrows on the floor of the lab, the jokes he cracks with her, the clear respect he has for their partnership. He appreciates her loyalty and her power, he admires her strength and her kindness. Marie makes Stein want to show the softer side of him, a side he has had even before her. We see it with the students when they come to his lab for the first time, patting them on the head and offering them to come inside. With Marie, Stein comforts, like in the scene in the snow during BREW. Like when she cries after coming with him in pursuit of BJs killer. With Marie, Stein opens to comfort, as well. Accepting the couches she brings into the lab, the steady companionship between the two of them, the domesticity of a 'I'm home'.
I love how you talk about how they take each other seriously even though they're deeply unserious individuals. Stein and Marie in a lot of ways are very similar, and that twines them even closer. Because for as much as Stein holed himself in his lab and Marie lamented wanting a partner, they both desire individuality AND partnership. They're looking for understanding that does not settle for stagnation, and they find that with each other.
Just, ugh, I love this ship so much.
