Reacting and taking care of their S/O who, due to some accident, ended up shrinking in size, to the point where they can carry them with the palm of their hands.
Genshin Girls: Beidou, Noelle, Eula, Shenhe, Ganyu, Shogun Ei and Yae Miko.
(Genshin Impact) Beidou, Noelle, Eula, Shenhe, Ganyu, Ei, and Yae's S/O getting shrunk down
(Beidou) "How did you...? Bah, it doesn't matter. I'll get ya fixed up in no time, S/O!"
Beidou has no idea what caused S/O to become so tiny, but she won't rest until they're back to normal!
Though truth be told, Beidou just thought that S/O being tiny was a result of her being drunk off her ass.
While she does find it cute that she can carry them in her palm, she doesn't actually do so due to how much she talks with her hands, or in general just moves them.
She's afraid she's going to crush them based on pure muscle movement.
Instead, S/O rests comfortably on the back of her coat, near her neck, at least when they're moving.
Beidou has a bird cage in her room that she bought and adorned it with soft feathers.
(S/O) "...This makes me feel like a pet."
(Beidou) "Do you wanna be on the wooden floors of the Crux instead?"
At least this was temporary. Her first order of business is to get Ningguang to help out with this problem.
(Noelle) "My goodness, what happened to you?!"
Noelle is terribly confused, but she immediately sets off to find help, S/O safely in her palms all the while.
She becomes hyper aware of her grip strength and where S/O is, afraid that they would get hurt, crushed, stepped on, or all sorts of dangerous things!
Noelle goes to find Sucrose, Albedo, or Lisa, preferably all three so they could explain what happened!
She also becomes hyper defensive of anyone holding S/O, her palms shielding them as she turns her entire body away from said person.
(Noelle) "Ah, please do not touch S/O! They are in a very precarious state!"
(S/O) "Uh, Noelle? I still need to be able to see-"
(Noelle) "Please bear with me, it would give me peace of mind if you are wholly incapable of being harmed!"
(S/O) "If I were in anyone else's hands, I would've doubted that."
That comment makes Noelle beam with pride.
(Eula) "When I said that my vengeance would dwarf your entire being...I did not mean it literally."
(S/O) "Yes yes, very funny Eula. Now can you put me down? You holding me with two fingers just feels like I'm a grape or something."
Honestly? Eula finds the situation hilarious. Her teasing goes up tenfold when S/O is extremely tiny like this.
If they try to give her any lip, she'll just pull the-
(Eula) "How can you make such threats when you are the size of my thumb, S/O?"
-card.
Eula will ask Amber or the Traveler for help, and while she is concerned for S/O, there is a smile on her face whenever she looked at them.
A pocket S/O was very cute to her.
(Eula) "Would you like to go to Dragonspine with me in this state, S/O?"
(S/O) "What, you planning on turning me into a popsicle?"
(Eula) "That is an excellent idea!"
(Shenhe) "...You are tiny."
(S/O) "Really? I haven't noticed, Shenhe..."
Shenhe figured this is something that the Adepti can help her with.
In all her life, she had never encountered a situation as bizarre as her current predicament.
If Noelle was possessive of tiny S/O, then Shenhe is borderline yandere.
Those who seem to mean harm to her tiny significant other will be met with a violent and bloody end.
One which S/O's voice can be frantically heard coming out of her palms, begging her to stand down.
Hopefully her master, Cloud Retainer, can bring S/O back to normal.
(Shenhe) "Are you resting comfortably?"
(S/O) "I am but...resting on your chest is kind of...strange."
(Shenhe) "But you do so all the time."
(S/O) "It's one thing for me to rest my head on it, Shenhe, and an entirely different situation for me to literally sit on it!"
(Ganyu) "S-S/O! Are you okay, how did this happen? Don't worry, we'll get some help right away!"
Ganyu immediately defers to Cloud Retainer for bringing S/O back to normal.
But when she's told it'd take a few days before the rite would happen, Ganyu takes S/O with her at all times.
At work, S/O is sitting at her desk while she catches up on her neverending paperwork.
S/O has a plate with flowers to sit on as they watch her work.
In some strange fashion...Ganyu quite liked this.
It allowed S/O to be with her during work so she didn't feel entirely stressed.
Though the threat of S/O being blown away or crushed gave her a whole new level of stress.
(S/O) "Careful, Ganyu. You're sweating enough that it's threatening to splash on me."
(Ganyu) "R-REALLY?!"
(S/O) "A-ah, it was just a joke! Though, I guess not anymore with how you shot straight up like that...!"
(Ei) "...You did not tell me you were capable of this, S/O."
(S/O) "It's because I'm not!"
Ei decides to find out what happened to S/O herself, and leaves them in the most capable hands.
Also herself.
The Raiden Shogun stands unflinchingly on guard, meditating until Ei's return as S/O is sitting in her palm.
(S/O) "...Can I get something to eat?"
(Raiden) "Sara. Retrieve a bowl of rice at once."
(Sara) "Yes, Almighty Shogun!"
S/O awkwardly fidgets with their hands.
(S/O) "Can I move?-"
(Raiden) "No."
Meanwhile, Ei lets S/O sit on her finger like a bird, though they have a much harder time balancing themselves.
(Ei) "What a curious situation you have found yourself in."
(S/O) "Y-You don't have to stare at me that intensely, you know!"
(Yae) "Oh, how adorable you have become, S/O! I could just eat you up-"
(S/O) "Try it and I'm pulling out the fur on your ears!"
Yae has to try her best not to hurt herself laughing at S/O's situation.
Now this was worth writing down!
Though, S/O clearly disagreed.
(Yae) "Come now, S/O. I wouldn't be distressed, think of all the interesting new friends you can make!"
(S/O) "Yeah, plenty of bugs and birds would like to meet and eat me, Yae."
(Yae) "Do you want to test that out?"
(S/O) "Absolutely not!"
Surprisingly, she's seen this kind of situation happen throughout her long life.
And she knows that S/O will go back to normal in a few days.
But that's all the more reason for her to enjoy the time she has!
Who knows when the next time she'll be able to laugh this hard?

Ch.48: Those Who Yearn for the Gods' Gaze
Paimon: This should be the place. But Sangonomiya was right, it doesn't look like anything suspicious is going on... Could they be hiding? Let's see what we can find. These Electro Monuments look a little suspicious...
Y/n: Aether use your Electro powers!! (Who's that Pokémon? :D)
Upon lighting up all three Electro Monuments
Paimon: Yikes! A huge lawachurl! Was it drawn out by the Electro energy?
Y/n: It's tall!!!!
Aether: Y/n that's the least of our concerns!!!
Upon defeating the Thunderhelm Lawachurl
Paimon: Phew... glad that's over. As monsters go, that one was pretty tough. But what's such a huge Thunderhelm Lawachurl doing here in the first place? It doesn't make any sense... Also, the atmosphere here gives Paimon the creeps. Anyway, the good thing is that it's over now. We should probably get going... *noticed Teppei* Huh, Teppei? What are you doing here?
Teppei: *cough* ...Wow, this is a surprise. Didn't know you were the ones investigating here. I just got back from delivering some supplies to the front line. I figured I'd stop by and clear any threats in this area on the way back. *cough*...
Paimon: Are you alright there buddy? You're looking slightly the worse for wear.
Y/n: "Coughing and Grey hair?, These symptoms look familiar to me but where?" You sure you're alright? Your not stressed or anything similar?
Teppei: I'm fine, it's nothing. I must've caught a cold a couple days ago while I was out at sea. On my way past, I heard that someone had just arrived on the island to investigate, so I thought I'd come and take a look. If there'd been some real danger, I might've had the chance to be the hero... Heh, shame it was just you guys. Guess I came here for nothing.
Paimon: Teppei, don't you think there's something strange about this place?
Teppei: Hmm... now that you mention it, there is something a little off about it. It could be that the Tatarigami is more palpable here, I guess. We're not that far away from Orobaxi's remains.
Y/n: Orobaxi? Who's that?
Teppei: A god. Look, there's the corpse over there. *points at a snake skeleton*
Paimon: Aah! It's a gigantic snake skeleton. It looks terrifying!
Teppei: Orobaxi was the one who brought our ancestors from Enkanomiya up to the surface. That's the origin of the Watatsumi Island you know today. Our ancestors regarded it as a guardian deity, but during the Archon War, Orobaxi invaded Yashiori Island. The Raiden Shogun came out in person and slew Orobaxi with the Musou no Hitotachi. That same slash also formed what later became known as Musoujin Gorge.
Paimon: The Raiden Shogun created Musoujin Gorge in one slash? Wow, that's pretty incredible...
Teppei: Yes. But the Archon War was brutal... *cough* and Yashiori Island was completely destroyed during that battle. They say the shogun lost something very dear to her along the way too. Since Orobaxi's death... *cough* there has always been some animosity between Watatsumi Island and the Shogunate. But our different beliefs have nothing to do with why the resistance was formed. We only rose up to fight against the Vision Hunt Decree. When Orobaxi attacked civilization, the shogun stood up and put a stop to it. But now that the shogun is stripping people of their ambitions with the Vision Hunt Decree, it's time for someone to stand up and stop the shogun... *cough* Alright, I'm heading back. I was just dealing with some of the Shogun's elite samurai, so I think I'm gonna take a quick breather, then it's onto my next assignment. You should report back to Sangonomiya as soon as possible. Don't stay here longer than you need to — being around the Tatarigami too long won't do your health any good... *coughing*...
Y/n: Take care of yourself.
Teppei: Hey, don't worry about me. Peak condition... *leaves*
Paimon: Teppei's sure made some big progress if he's already dealing with Shogunate Samurai. Paimon can hardly believe it. Let's report back to Kokomi.

Paimon: Kokomi, we're back— Oh, look, Gorou's here too. What happened? They look so serious...
Y/n: Something doesn't feel right...
Sangonomiya Kokomi: Approximately how many people are exhibiting these symptoms?
Gorou: I haven't had the chance to do a full count yet...
Paimon: Kokomi, Gorou... what's going on?
Gorou: Recently, Aether, Y/n, some of our soldiers started showing symptoms of accelerated aging. I called them in for questioning and found out that they'd privately acquired some secret weapons from our sponsor. Most of them are highly ambitious types, vehemently opposed to the Vision Hunt Decree. They've been using these new weapons secretly since getting hold of them.
Y/n: "Accelerated aging!?! Weapons!?! Could it be...."
Sangonomiya Kokomi: So that's why the war has been going unusually well... But risky secret weapons are not the answer. We must put a stop to it immediately. Gorou, have you managed to acquire one of these weapons?
Gorou: Most of the officers refused to hand them over. Still, I did manage to get one... *shows the weapon*
Aether: Oh dear...
Y/n: This is...
Sangonomiya Kokomi: Aether, Y/n, do you guys know something about this?
Y/n: It's a Fatui Delusion.
Gorou: So that means our secret sponsor is the Fatui?
They nod their heads
Sangonomiya Kokomi: But why would the Fatui do this... Forget that, there's no time. Right now, we need to inform the whole army to cease using their Delusions immediately. All soldiers who have shown symptoms are to be taken for treatment. I just hope we'll be in time to save them.
Paimon: Wait a second... speaking of soldiers with symptoms...
Y/n: Teppei.... *immediately runs off*
Paimon: Wait, Y/n!!! Uhh, let's go check on him!

Paimon: Teppei!!!
Teppei: Oh... *cough* Hey, guys. What're you doing here? Just a moment, lemme get up... Oof, it's weird, I don't know where all my strength's gone...
Y/n: Teppei, you have to tell me. What's been going on with you?
Teppei: Hmm? Oh, right, yeah, I haven't had time to give you both the full details. Well, I've made a lot of great contributions to the war effort lately. Fighting the Shogun's Army at sea, taking on Shogunate Samurai all by myself, rescuing my comrades fr—from an ambush... things I never would have dreamed I could do when you guys first met me. *cough* If only I were stronger still. The stronger I am, the more I can do for the resistance... Wait a sec, where's my secret weapon gone?
Y/n: Tell me about this weapon. When did you start using it?
Teppei: *cough* It wasn't long after you and Aether were made captains of Swordfish II. I met these mysterious people, and they said they were with our supporters. They gave it to me and said that as long as I have the will to become stronger, this secret weapon will answer my call. Haha... *cough* It's just like a Vision, isn't it? Of course, I've never used a Vision, so I wouldn't know the difference...
Aether: This is... a Delusion.
Teppei: Delusion? *cough* Oh god, that doesn't sound very good... So... what's the difference between a Delusion and a Vision?
Y/n: *shakingly breathes* A Delusion drains the user's life force.
Teppei: *cough* Gosh... Well, I suppose it's not too surprising that a mysterious weapon of unknown origins would come with its risks. I've been getting more and more tired over the past few days, and I have this... strange sense of dread. At first, I'd find I was a little more beat than usual after a battle. Didn't think anything of it. But today, I got back, and suddenly, my vision was going blurry. This is a real shame... There I was, thinking I was catching up with you both, haha... Guess I didn't receive the favor of the gods, after all...
Y/n/Aether: ...
Teppei: Hey, Aether, Y/n, would you guys do something for me? When our uniforms are ready, grab mine for me... bring it back here, and we can change together...
Y/n: *feeling her tears welt up*
Aether: *has a serious look*
Teppei: What's that look for? Don't worry, partners. As soon as I've rested up, I'll be right as rain. Right as rain, I tell ya... soon as I've... rested up... *closed his eyes*
Paimon: Teppei...
Aether: The Fatui... *leaves with Y/n*
Paimon: Hey, Aether. Y/n, where are you guys going? Heyyyy... *follows them*

Hi...hi! I hope i'm not bothering you, but can i ask your opinion about oboro? I love him so much and i don't get it why some of fans doesn't like him. thank you so much ^^
Hi! Don’t worry, you’re not bothering me at all. :) I’m always happy to talk about Gintama in any way. That’s why I made this blog.
Sometimes people don’t like certain characters because they just don’t and we don’t have to like every single character. To me, though, that’s different from those who seem to have a personal vendetta against characters and spend their time hating them and talking about how much they hate them, which makes no sense to me. Why waste time on characters you hate when you can invest that time in the characters you love? There’s a difference between critiquing a character and outright hating on them just to be petty and cause drama.
Anyway, on to Oboro, who I like and don’t hate in the slightest – and this doesn’t mean I seek to justify his actions. People get confused on this to the point where they take start judging people’s moral character just from the characters they like, especially if they are villains. This kind of logic comes from the desire to put everyone on a pedestal, even fictional characters, without realizing that it’s possible to like a character without needing to somehow justify what they’ve done so that you can appear morally superior to others. There are some anime and book villains I like, but it doesn’t mean I’m a terrible person who’d do the same bad deeds. It simply means I like the way they were designed and the role they play in the story. Writing a good villain can be as challenging as writing a good hero or character in general.
Okay, now back to Oboro for real:
(Putting the rest of my answer under a cut for spoilers, so heads up, Anon, if you haven’t read the Rakuyou arc.
Also, to the other Anon before, I will reply to your second message with additional thoughts of mine in several hours’ time. My brain needs rest first. Thank you for your patience.)
Some people don’t like Oboro because he’s done some less than heroic things. There’s no going around this and we don’t need to make excuses for what he’s done. Oboro is the leader of the Naraku, who have been in league with the Tendoshuu, who are not exactly nice people. Focusing on Oboro only, he’s fought and injured Gintoki and put the people he cares about in danger. He played a role in Shouyou’s execution, damaged Takasugi’s eye and more, and has just generally shown up to throw a wrench in the plans of the people we usually root for. Plus, being involved with Shouyou in that way caused a lot of physical pain and psychological trauma for Gintoki, Takasugi, and Katsura…that doesn’t exactly make some fans wave their pom-poms for him.
Oboro seemingly died in the Courtesan of a Nation arc and people thought that was the last we’d see of him. Then, he reappeared in the Shogun Assassination arc, where he also seemingly died and they thought that was it. And then he appeared again in the Farewell Shinsengumi arc and sustained major injuries. And then so on to the Rakuyou arc. This man just wouldn’t stay dead or immobilized, and that probably annoyed people, especially when he kept trying to kill Gintoki and others.
As for myself, I liked Oboro before I knew of his back story. I think he’s an interesting antagonist and one of my favourites in the series. One reason is because he’s voiced by Inoue Kazuhiko, who is one of my favourite voice actors. I think Oboro has a cool character design and stellar combat skills. I like that he’s rather stoic and isn’t figuratively twirling his moustache with evil glee like others. He stays calm and composed for the most part, except for when he becomes enraged.
(Doesn’t he look so cool? I had to include this pic.)
I also like that he’s one of the people who can give Gintoki a hard time in battle. Now, that doesn’t mean I like when people harm Gintoki, but if he were all-powerful and constantly defeating people without any challenge at all, it would be boring and predictable. The Gintoki vs. Oboro fight is memorable for the fact that Oboro was a tough opponent who brought back unwanted war memories.
Oboro shares many parallels with Gintoki. Besides physical appearance, they owe their lives to the same man: Yoshida Shouyou. Very much like Gintoki, Oboro tagged along with Shouyou, unwilling to leave him, feeling indebted to him for saving his life. Oboro has a rather low opinion of himself, as shown in the flashbacks of the Rakuyou arc: he didn’t believe himself to be anyone special or of importance to others. An orphan bought and sold by bandits, Oboro didn’t expect anything more and knew nothing more than pain, fear, and emptiness with no purpose in life except to serve others as an object, not a human being. And that makes my heart ache.
He’s not on a quest for ultimate power or to destroy the world for the heck of it. All of that is the result of his loyalty to Shouyou/Utsuro; he’ll do whatever it takes to “remove obstacles in that man’s way,” and if it means the downfall of a nation or killing Shouyou’s other students, so be it. Even years later, he only sees himself as a vessel to be used, a servant to Utsuro, forevermore.
Oboro was willing to do anything for Shouyou, prepared to become even an assassin. He was ready to become the first disciple of Shouyou’s and start a new life with him. And when the Naraku assassins came looking for them, Oboro sacrificed himself just so that Shouyou could escape and make his dream of opening up Shouka Sonjuku a reality. Oboro knew Shouyou no longer wanted to kill, and wanted his teacher and saviour to achieve all that because Oboro loved Shouyou more than his own life. Shouyou made Oboro feel human.
That kind of dedication speaks volumes of Oboro’s character. But, of course, Oboro survived, the Naraku made him one of their own, and he decided to rise up in the ranks – all to protect Utsuro, even if he could no longer be with him. Everything was and is for Utsuro/Shouyou. Everything.
Then, Oboro saw Shouyou with Gintoki, Katsura, and Takasugi. He must’ve been relieved and glad that Shouyou was able to accomplish his dream and give new life to other children…but I can only imagine the deep sorrow Oboro must’ve felt, because he could not be with them, that he was apparently forgotten by the man he was so devoted to. Hearing him express his wish, that he “would have liked to become one of them,” as his dying words…it really breaks my heart because I bet he would have been such a good older brother figure to Gintoki, Takasugi, and Katsura in another world and time.
That deep sorrow turned into something else, and Oboro pulled strings to have Utsuro arrested and then executed. “To get my master, I killed my master” – twisted, to say the least, and yet fascinating. Shouyou returned, but not as the man Oboro once knew: Utsuro. But that didn’t matter – it’s something Oboro points out to Takasugi, the key difference between them. Shouyou, Utsuro, the name doesn’t matter, because he is one and the same to Oboro.
But after his “blood vow” was fulfilled and he was about to die, Oboro told Takasugi and all of Shouyou’s disciples, consequently, the truth about Shouyou/Utsuro. Even at the end, Oboro wanted Shouyou to be free again, free from his immortality that causes him so much suffering. He knows Shouyou’s other students – most especially Gintoki – will be the ones to bring an end to that. He was probably envious of their closeness with Shouyou, that they got to spend more time with Shouyou than he did, but still, he shared vital information to help them, even after he had tried to kill them. Then, as I stated here, I believe Oboro dying at Takasugi’s hands for good was a fitting end for him.
And that’s why I love Oboro. He’s a complicated man and a memorable antagonist. His devotion to Shouyou led him down a twisted and tragic path, but I’m sure he would have preferred it to a life of nothingness without Shouyou.
I can understand why people might dislike him, but I will always be fond of him.
